Haram Movie Review

0

Haram, was the 2105 mollywood film starring Young actor Fahadh Faasil and North Indian actress Radhika Apte in the lead roles and the film was was directed and also written by a debutant named Vinod Sukumaran. Vinod Sukumaran  is the editor of the film as well . In one sentence the film disappoints the common audience and may have satisfied certain critics who thinks a film should have always something to think seriously for.

The film follows a very realistic narration and intended to show us the way of life in the modern day society. But it is told in such a way that the spectators will find it very difficult to cop up with the lagging pace of the film and ultimately bored to sleep in the theater. They wanted the film to work as a mirror which shows us the decreasing importance of human relations in this fast world where there is no time for men and women to sit for a moment and think about what is happening in their lives.

The story is told in a style in which past and present are mixed and it revolves around the life of Balu played by Fahadh Faasil and Radhika Apte’s character Isha. Both of them were working at a call center and at there they met and become friends first and later that paved way for a love affair leading to their marriage. And Isha had failed love affair before she fell in love with Balu and Balu knows it too. But later problems began to rise up between them and both Isha and Balu were not at all ready to shed their egos to solve the problems. They feel that they took a hasty decision and that was the reason for their problems. Soon they got ready for a divorce even though both loved each other but the ego prevented if from coming out. Balu tried his best to come out of it and make peace with her but Isha was not at all in a mood to compromise.

Vinod Sukumaran had seems to have done a lot of study about human relations to weave this story and he told it in its most serious sense but on the way of getting serious it had lost its pace and made the audience perplexed at many stages and sometimes a common man can’t even understand what was going on the screen. The film does not entertains the audience at all and even if the film has something in it as we call as class elements it does not reach to the audience because of the too much complexity it has in its crux and the seriously dead pace with which it had told.

Fireman Movie Review

0

Fireman, the latest offering from mega star Mammootty and his first release in 2015 hit the screens today. The film was actually scheduled as last year’s Christmas release and then postponed to January. But the ‘I’ mania that happened in January caused many Malayalam films including Fireman to postpone the release dates due to the shortage of adequate number of releasing theaters. After changing the date of release a number of times, the film had hit the screens today, on 19 th February 2015 much to the delight of Mammootty’s fans who were awaiting eagerly to see their hero in the silver screen after a long gap. Mammukka’s last release was Varsham that has released in last year November. Fireman is Produced by Milan jaleel and distributed by Ullattil Visual Media.

Fireman is directed by Deppu Karunakaran and he also had written the screenplay and dialogues of the film as well. He is also the one who wrote the story along with a newcomer. Deepu’s previous films are Winter with jayaram, Crazy Goplan with Dileep and Teja Bhai and family  with Prithviraj in the lead.  In His new film Fireman, he tells the story of a mission by a fire force team led by commanding officer Vijay played by Mammootty.

An unfortunate Tanker lorry accident causes the leak of LPG gas and in a rather bizzare situation the Gas from the tanker began to spread all over the area. So the fire force team is planning an evacuation process from the area where the gas has spread and they have face great challenges for that from media, common people and from police force as well. During that evacuation process they have to come across a situation that they had no other but to evacuate a jail which is in the area which is in danger zone. But there was a great conspiracy behind it and the film tells that story of how fire force manages that situation and how they successfully completed that mission.

Mammootty is the backbone of this film with his power packed performance as Fireman Vijay. His dialogue delivery and screen presence was superb to say the least. Other actors like Unni mukundan, Nyla Usha, Siddique, Salim Kumar, Hareesh Peradi etc had done their part without much problems and as the film is only below 2 hours of length, it had not lagged at all. The Background scoring by Rahul Raj could have been better and he has done an OK job. The film is intended to be a tribute to all the firemen and specially to the Kerala fire force for their Commitment, dedication to their duty and the courage they shows during the crisis.

The only negative one can feel in the film is that the story and screenplay has many loose ends and have no completeness. There will be a lot of questions regarding certain characters and “Why” or “How” can be raised by the spectators after seeing the film. And when we considered Mammootty’s last films such as Varsham and Munnariyippu, Fireman in its class did not raised up to that level. But it is a decent film from Deepu Karaunakaran and Mammootty and it will be one which will not disappoint you if you go without much expectation and if you are a die-hard Mammootty fan.

Director : Deepu Karaunakaran
Release Date : 19/2/2015
Cast : Mammootty, Unni Mukundan, Nyla Usha

Its Loham by Mohanlal and Ranjith

0

Mohanlal and Ranjith, the duo which has given many evergreen films and great commercial successes is back again for their new film and the title of the film is Loham. Renjith has written many great roles for Mohanlal and he even did his first film as a director with the film Raavana Prabhu in which Mohanlal had played the lead role. Mohanlal had produced that film as well.

Ranjith is the writer of epic Mohanlal characters such as Mangalassery Neelakandan (Devasuram), Kanimangalam Jaganadhan (Aaram thamburaan), Poovally Indhuchoodan (Narasimham), Parameshwaran ( Usthad), Mangalassery Karthikeyan ( Ravana prabhu), Raghu Nandan (Spirit) etc and he had directed 4 films in which Mohanlal played the lead role. They are Raavana Prabhu, chandrolsavam, Rock n roll and Spirit. Most of the films they worked together were super successes at box office and their last outing Spirit was also a great successful film. When the duo is coming again people have great expectation on them.

Reports says that unlike his previous, Ranjith this time coming with an action thriller and that news just adds to the excitement of fans as Ranjith’s action oriented films has got epic status in Mollywood and most of them were with Mohanlal. His so called Mass films such as Devasuruam, Aaram Thamburaan, Narasimham, Usthad, Ravana Prabhu etc with Mohanlal as the central characters are the films which rewritten the box office history of the time of its release. That was the magic he and Mohanlal creates whenever they came together. Only exceptions are Chandrolsavam and Rock n Roll which did not received well at Box office.

Ranjith had recently done more of class films such as Njan, Spirit, Pranjiyettan, Paleri Manickyam, Indian Rupee Etc. Ranjith’s last 3 releases after the super hit film Spirit are Bavoottiyude Namathil (as writter), Kadal Kadannoru Mathukkutty and Njan were not well received at box office and its looks like Ranjith this time coming with the aim to Just rule the Box office of Mollywood with a Thrilling entertainer. For that the best man he can get was Mohanlal as he is the most valuable actor in Mollywood Right now.

The film will have Andrea Jeremiah as the female lead and reports also said that Director V K Prakash will also do an important role in this film. The other actors who are finalized to do main roles apart from these are Joju, Tini Tom, Hareesh Peradi etc. Sreevalsan J menon will be the music director and Kunjunni S Kumar who is the son of famous cinematographer S Kumar will be the DOP of the film.

The film is produced by Antony Perumbavoor under Aashirvad cinemas and the film will start rolling from the first week of March at Kozhikkodu. Anyway the fans and film lovers are excited and hoping that the magnificent Combo of Mohanlal and Ranjith will Rock this year with the solid Loham.

Raven Black Malayalam Short Film

Raven Black Malayalam Short Film
Raven Black is small film which takes its thread from the well known poem written by the Nigerian bard Wole Soyinka. The movie paints a colourful picture of our society, throwing open the contemporary marriage market for scrutiny. It symbolically questions societal marginalization and prejudice about colour. The vibrant hues of nature itself become a character, whose encounter with man, brings out an epiphanic response against such discrimination.
