Asha Sarath on a success ride
The epic film of Mollywood, Drishyam, infact really took an actress’s career to another level. Yes, Its Asha Sarath. Her character Geetha Prabhakar has become ultra popular among film viewers and got her tremendous amount of applause. After working with the Complete Actor of Indian Cinema, Universal Stat Mohanlal in Drishyam, She got the chance to work with a Acting legend Mega star Mammootty in ‘Varsham’ which is now getting positive response from the audience. Onlookers Media got a chance to have an exclusive talk with her about all this and about her role in the coming film Angels directed by Jean Marcos.
Q : Drishaym, a great film with Lalettan and now ‘Varsham’ another brilliant one with Mammukka..How do you feel now..?
Asha Sarath : I am excited and feels that I was dreaming. Both films have great plots and both gave me tremendous response from the audience.
Q : Coming to big screen from a super successful mini screen career..How you feels about the success in both fields..?
ANS-: It was only because of the blessing from God and my mentors and Teachers that now I had a successful career. Luck was also with me .I was basically a classical dancer and my dance performances got noticed and that paved the way for me to reach the mini screen first. I got many awards including state award for my performance in the serial ‘Nizhalum Nilavum’ and also got great appreciation for my role in the highly popular serial ‘Kumkumappovu’ in which I am played the role of Professor Jayanti. It was that role helped me to get opportunity in the big screen such us in Friday, Karmayodha,Drishyam and now Varsham.
Q : Two brilliant characters..Geetha in drishyam and nandini in varsham…Which is the one more similar to the real Asha sarath..?
Asha Sarath : I am more similar to my character Nandini in Varsham directed by Renjith Shankar. Most of the time I was just like Nandini, as my husband said when he saw the film during the dubbing.
Q : Now tell us about angels..Your new film..?
Asha Sarath :About my coming film Angels, I had a great time working with the crew of the film and its a kind of my own film. Its not only because I am acted in it but the main crew members including the director jean are my great friends for a long time. My character name in the film is Haritha Menon who is channel program producer who manages a news based live show named ‘Third Eye’. It was through this program that 60% of the story of the film moves forward.

Q : Now you are a very popular Film star. Will you act in serials if offers come..?
Asha Sarath : Sure I not all quit acting in serials. If challenging and fresh character come across, I will definitely do it. I need to spend more time for shooting if commit a serial. Thats the problem now as my children are growing up and I need to be with my family. But films usually had a short schedule and I can manage with it. That’s y I am doing more films now. But I definitely do tv serials if the right character comes to me at the right time.
Q : Which are your future projects..?
Asha Sarath : I had just completed ‘Papanasham’ which is the Tamil remake of Drishyam in which I am shares screen with none other than ulaka naayakan Kamal Haasan. I had not committed any films after varsham and Papanasham as i had to spend some time with my family consists of my husband Sarath, daughters uthara and keerthana. I am also busy as the director of kairali kalakendra.
Q : You had worked with Lalettan, Mammukka and Kamal Hassan sir..With whom you feel more comfortable to act..?
Asha Sarath : It was really a great experience to work with the three titans of Indian cinema and I was very much comfortable with all three of them. I had worked out great chemistry with all of them and it’s the audience who had to tell about what they feel about it.
Q : Do you ever feel any disregard in the film industry as you came from mini screen..?
Asha Sarath : I never felt any kind of disregard from the film industry as I came to it from mini screen. I was a known figure as a classical dancer and may that helped me to get my space in the industry.
Q : As an ending note, what you want to say to the audience..?
Asha Sarath : I had great belief in the Angels team and I am very much assure you all that Angels is going to be a wonderful visual treat for all of you.
Asif Ali in Roopesh Peethambaran’s You Too Brutus
You too Brutus.. the phrase reminds us of the famous dialogue of Dying King Julius Caesar who was betrayed by his close friend Brutus. It was from the great tragedy ‘Julius Caesar’ written by the all time great literary figure Shakespeare. But here, that phrase is the name of an upcoming Malayalam flick which will be directed by Roopesh Peethambaran with a fantastic star cast including Asif Ali, Sreenivasan, Aju Varghese, Anu Mohan, Ahmed Sidhique, Tovino Thomas, Honey Rose, Rachana Narayananakutty, Ena Sahaa (Neelakasham Pachakadal Chuvanna Bhoomi fame) etc. Apart from those in the list, two more heroines also will be there in the film which will be informed to the media after finalising the actresses. The Shooting of the film will start in 2015 January and the team is planning to make it hit the screens by the end of May as a summer release.
Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar uttered the Phrase ‘You too Brutus’ before his tragic death and the phrase bear a tragic as well as negative significance. But our film here will be a fun filled laugh Riot and it will not be a tragedy like the play ‘Julius Caesar’. Roopesh Peetambaran’s First film was with Dulquar Salmaan titled as Theevram, which got good critical appreciation but sadly not done well at the commercial level of things.
Roopesh Peethambaran was well known as an actor with his role in the All time Classic Entertainer of Mollywood named ‘Spadikam’, directed by Bhadran. In that film Roopesh essayed the role of the childhood character of none other than the hero of the film The Complete Actor Mohanlal. The character of ‘Thomas Chacko’ he played later turned as ‘Aadu Thoma’ played by Mohanlal has become a cult classic Hero of Mollywood history with a huge fan following even now. Don’t know when will we be able to see Roopesh again as an actor , but as per some true sources its going to happen soon . We at onlookers media wishes Roopesh and his crew a happy ‘You too brutus ‘ journey.
Dolphins Review
Dolphins…. The film which most of us eagerly waited for sometimes has at last released today. The eagerness was due to two factors. One was it was in the news as a come back movie of the super star of millions Suresh Gopi. He had made a strong statement and come back as an actor earlier this year with Appothecary, one of the best films of this year and his career. But dolphins was the one Most of his fans waited for because it showcases the firebrand as well as flamboyant Suresh Gopi that we all love. The second reason of our excitement was the Script of the film which has been written by None other than Anoop Menon who really knows the pulse of the audience. When the two of them joins hands for a commercial potboiler, it will sure be something to watch out for.
Dolphins is the story of Panayamuttam Sura Balan popularly known as Sura who is the owner of a chain of Bars named as Dolphin Bar. He is a funny character and also had inferior complex which made his life not easy. Anoop Menon played the character of the best friend of Sura and he is a rich man as well as a singer. Once an astrologer tells Sura that he may die in the coming months and only a woman who came uninvited into his life will save him from the shadow of death. From there the story takes off in a humorous way when Sura accidentally got a chance to communicate with a girl even without seeing her with the help of Anoop Menon’s character. There is a parallel plot also running which depicts a police investigation about a serial killing that is happening at that time. That had a link with the life of Sura which will be the suspence of the film.
When we say about the performances, Three persons stand out from the rest. They are Suresh Gopi, Anoop Menon and kalpana. Suresh was at his comic best with Trivandrum slang and hilarious expressions and one liners. Anoop menon was at his usual best with the natural and easy way of acting. But the one who top scrored with the performance was none other than Kalpana. She played the Wife of Sura and she was just outstanding with her comic slang, intense emotions and sometimes the terrific underplaying of emotions.
Other actors done their part well as Shaiju as a bar boy with his one liners got the applause from the audience. Prasanth, Saiju Kurupu,Suraj Venjaranmood, Joju, Nishanth Sagar, Nandu, Arun, Arjun, Irshad, Indrans, Nobi and of course Mekhana Raj done their part to perfection. Music by M.Jayachandran was awesome and the lyrics by Anoop himself was yet another master class from him. Dop by Jithu Damodar was very good as it captures the mood of the film very well. The atmosphere in the Bar scenes was terrific.
Diphan’s direction was good as it really takes forward the movie with nice pace and The climax was its highlight which was really a surprising one with great emotional Quality. The story was Simple and that simple story was presented with Elan. The film had lot to make us entertained. It has Good humor, Great songs, wonderful performances and a really Good food for thought at its climax. On the whole Dolphins is a Good entertainer which will worth your Money and will be a different experience for all.

Lal Bahadhur Shasthri Review
Lal Bahadhur Shasthri was a much awaited Movie Directed and written By debutant Rejishh Midhila and the leading star in this film is none other than Jayasurya, who is now one of the most bankable star in Mollywood. Jayasurya is doing good films one after the other and his last release Iyyobinte Pusthakam had become very popular and got him tremendous amount of appreciation. When coming to this film jayasurya did a wonderful performance eventhough it cant be compared to his last outing in Iyyobinte pusthakam . But Jayasurya with his brilliance and easy way of acting made the character he played better as much as he can in LBH.
We not want to tell much of the story of the film in this review as it will spoil the entertaining elements it had for the spectators. Lal, Bahadhur and Shastri ,the three central characters done by Jayasurya, Nedumudi Venu and Aju Varghese respectively, met accidentally and from there on they had to stay together to resolve a problem regarding a fortune they had got unexpectedly. As a debutant director Rejishh Midhila had done a decent job as he managed to keep the audience to the edge of their seats till the end of the film.Rejishh succeeded in developing a simple plot in to something witty and worth watching .
Cinematography by Eldho Issac was good and as a newcomer he made a mark with his good work. Editing was not up to the mark as the audience where really tired of connecting scenes on their own. Background scoring by Bijipal was good at times and the quality was uneven as it sometimes dropped to the level of irritating mixing up of instruments. Heroine of the film was a newcomer named Sandra Simon and honestly she had nothing to do in the film apart from standing here and there. The most impressive performance came from that child artist who played the role of boy who was a lottery ticket seller. He was the real show stealer here and sure he will go miles with his great natural acting skills. Jayasurya’s son Adwaith had made his debut in this film as a character who played the Childhood of Jayasurya.
On the whole Lal Bahadhur Shasthri ended up as an average movie affair. Our recommendation is to watch the movie without much expectations.
Director : Rejishh Midhila
