Varsham Colletion Report

Varsham, the latest release of Mega star Mammootty, scripted and directed by Renjithshanker, is ringing the money bell at Kerala box office in a big way. The film which released world wide on the same day (November 6th) has got highly positive responses from the spectators and also got very good critical appreciation. Mammootty who had a terrible last four years as a star can now have a sigh of relief as ‘Varsham’ turning out to be his first big hit in last four years.

Even though he did manage to get an average Grosser like Rajadhi raja this year, it cannot be said a substantial success as it got more negative reviews than than positive ones. In this year alone he had five failures such as Balyakaalasakhi, Praise the lord, Gangster, Manglish and Munnariyippu. Even though Minnariyippu has got great critical appreciation, it was a failure in Box office. Now varsham gave him the success for which he was waiting for last four years, thanks to the brilliant screenplay and direction of Renjith Shankar who has been aon a success ride with two consecutive Hits, Punyalan Agarbathees and now Varsham.

Some media reports says that ‘Varsham’ collected around Rs 15 crores and may finish up grossing above 20 crore rupees. As per reports Asianet  channel had bagged the satellite right of Varsham for Rs 4.8 crores. We still don’t know about the actual figures the film had collected and the collection stated above may change. Some says the figures are just fake in order to create hype and attract more people to the theaters and also to satisfy the fans of Mammootty who has been craving for a better release and marketing strategy from Play House release, which had failed in as many occasions they are distributed a Mammootty film.

According to the medias which reported the collection figures,’Varsham’ is still running to full houses and impressing all kinds of audience. But the greater number of removals which the film had suffered in last few weeks suggests to us that the media claim will be a promoting strategy to hold the film in the remaining theaters and delay the termination. Mammootty’s brilliant performance was the talking point of the movie.

Mathai Kuzhappakkaranalla Review

Mathai Kuzhappakkaranalla is the latest offering from Popular star Jayasurya, which  is scripted and directed by Akku Akbar and financed by Anto Joseph under Anto Joseph Film Company.The plot of the Film revolves around the title character Mathai, Who always interfere into the life of others.  Jayasurya plays the character of Mathai and actress Bhama  did the female lead in the film opposite Jayasurya.Mukesh and Laksmi Gopalaswamy also has a key role to play in the film.

Mathai is an innocent auto driver who is a native of thrissur district. He is a kind hearted man and He has a tendency to interfere in others life either deliberately or some timesunknowingly. He actually interferes in other’s life with best interests and to help them. But most of the times things go wrong and he gets into problems. Bhama plays the role of a nurse, and she is Mathai’s fiancé too. This time Mathai enters into  the life of Dr.Nandakumar ,played by Mukesh and his wife Geetha played by Lakshmi Gopalaswamy and there by causing a lot of problems in their family life. This turn of events leads the story to some hilarious situations.

Jayasurya delivers his natural best  as Mathai and gave the comical part of the film a boost with his Thrissur dialect. Mukesh plays the character of Dr.Nandakumar once again showed to us why he is one of the best in comedy in Mollywood. Bhama playsthe character of Mathai’s fiance, was aptly casted for this role and gave a mature performance Lakshmi Gopalaswamy, who did the role of Nandakumar’s wife Geetha was also at her best. Sreejith Ravi who portrayed the role of  a dance master stealed the show with his superb skills and got tremendous applause from the audience.

Script And Direction was really let the film down as it was never let the audience to move forward with the story. Script and direction was done by Akku Akbar and he gave nothing new to the audience. The story is told many times before and it was so boring for the spectators to watch it again and again. The performance of the actors like Jayasurya and Mukesh is the only saving factor of the movie. Pradeep Nair’s DOP and Lijopaul’s editing was just average and the Music and Background Score  byAnand Madhusoodanan also remained in the average levels. Totally the film is an average or below average affair that we will not recommend for you all.

Mylanchi Monjulla Veedu Review

Mylanchi Monjulla Veedu, is the Malayalam movie which got released today. Scripted by the popular script writer duo Sibi K Thomas and Uday Krishna and directed by  Debutant Benny Thomas. The film has a great star cast having Popular actor Jayaram and young star Asif Ali in the lead. As we all know the standard of Udayan-Sibi team’s scripts are constantly on the lower side for last 2 years and This film also offers  nothing better than that. We cannot get anything fresh or surprising after watching the movie.

We can say that Mylanchi Monjulla Veedu is a clever combination of Sibi-udayan duo’s some of the past films. The film is filled with all the elements  of their usual  festival films like family tussle, confusion created by marriages etc. we saw it in films like Udayapuram Sultan, Karyasthan etc which was scripted by them . The first half of the film is entertaining and can get pass mark owe to a good turn of events that lead up to the interval.

The story of the film revolves around the tussle  between two families called Parankiyath and Ambalamuttam. First one  isa Muslim family and the second one is a hindu-Nair family. The two families were on friendly terms years before the issues happened when one called Kasim Bhai of Parankiyath family killed one called Ramesh Kurup, member of Ambalamuttom family.  They are eagerly waitng for release of Kasim Bhai from jail to have their revenge on him. At the same time  Dr.Madhavankutty in the disguise of a Muslim named Mammootty  arrives in the scene for the treatment of Kasimbhai. From there the story of revenge, confusion etc starts. Popular actor Jayaram is palying the role of Madhavankutty aka Mammootty.

As a Debutant director, Benny Thomas gave an impressive performance. The film is ina festival mood with colours and richness. Jayaram and Asif Ali gave good performance as usual. But the presence of double meaning dialogues are sometimes very irritating.  Cinematography and back ground scoring was brilliant and Songs were also not bad. Kalabhavan Shajon and Babu Raj handled the comic part very well.

Overall Mylanchi Monjulla Veedu is a usual Sibi-Udayan film which is one time watchable for the audience. We should not recommend it to you all, but for some who can bear usual Sibi-Udayan flicks.

Kaaviya Thalaivan Review

Kaaviya Thalaivan (aka Prathinayakan) is a much anticipated Tamil film starring Sidharth, Prithviraj, Nasar and Vedika, directed by none other than Vasanthabaalan. Kaaviya Thalaivan was already raised huge expectations as the film had dealt with the unique genre and also due to the ability of Vasanthabalan to tell the story in a different style. As a first thing to say, the people are really impressed with the way in which the character of Siddharth has been moulded and also with the terrific acting skills he displayed. Vasanthabalan’s script was awesome and the technical side was terrific as we can see it in each and every frame of the film.

The movie is presented as a period film and the story is set in the early periods of  20th century. The plot revolves around two  friends played by Siddharth and Prithviraj , who is working as theatre artists. Both friends were grown up and trained the art under their guru and fatherly figure Thavathiru Sivadas Swamigal played by veteran actor Nassar. The two of went on to become famous and most skilled artists and their fame made their drama troupe to reach to heights that was beyond their imagination. But things were went wrong when the two friends really began to compete with each other which made the going gets tough for the company. The rest of the story tells us about the life of of two such friends from that point. Will they  be friends again or will they ruin themselves by fighting against each other..? The answer to this questions is what you get from the theaters.

When we say about the Performances, as we said earlier,Siddharth, who is the main lead, has amazed the spectators with his deep and sterling performance and Prithviraj’s role and his performance was equally good. Actress Vedhika also gave an impressive performance and the Supporting actors like Nassar, Ponvannan and ThambiRamaiah also gave their best to the movie. AR Rahman’s songs and background music was terrific and has become the  the central piller of the movie. Nirav Shah’s cinematography and KL Praveen’s editing was magical as it really made the audience to go into that world created by Vasanthabalan.

Kaaviya Thalaivan is a poetry on celluloid from Vasanthabalan which we can say simply brilliant. The dialogues of the film is extra ordinary and the great climax also adds upto the beauty of the film. Kaaviya Thalaivan is Must watch classic for all film lovers and its really magical.

Angels..A decent Thriller that Worth Your time and Money

Angels is the latest Mollywood flick that hit the screens across Kerala today. It is an Investigation and social Thriller directed by Debutant Jean Markose and the lead role was Played by Indrajith Sukumaran. Apart from Indrajith, the film had a great cast list having Joy Mathew and Asha Sarath doing important roles. The film is a first step of many of the technicians worked in the film along with the director Jean Markose Himself.

Angels is the story of Hameem Hyder and his pursuit of a serial killer. Hameem had went through a lot of set backs in his professional life while Pursuing the killer and the shows us the interesting and thrilling turn of events that is happening in the investigation. The whole film is revolving around a Television show called ‘The third Eye’ and the anchor of the show was  Haritha Menon. The whole story takes a turn when Father Varghees Punyalan turns up in the show and makes some startling revelations. Indrajith Sukumaran Gave a mature and natural Performance as the police officer Hameem Hyder.He has once again showed his ability to look quite natural as a character. Asha Sharath gave a brilliant performance as the television show anchor Haritha Menon and Joy Mathews was at his usual best as Father Varghees Punyalan.

Direction of debutant Jean Markose was impressive as he really succeeded to hold the audience to their seats to the end. The cinematography by Sujith Sarang was superb as it created the mood of the film very well with its colour tone and angles. The other notable technical part was the crisp editing by Sreejith Sarang which helped the film move forward in a good pace without any lagging in the main parts of the film. Songs and Background scoring by Jekes Bejoy also was up to the mark as it really served great and went along smoothly with the theme and narration style of the movie.

Dialogues were written by Jean Markose and Shabu Kilithattil and story and screenplay was done by Toni Tomi in association with the director Jean Markose. If the screenplay was a little tighter the film film would have given a great impact. But as the first time Director, he had done a commendable job by giving us a decent thriller which will worth your time and Money. People who love thrillers will surely like this one from Jean markos and team.

Suresh Gopi in Ananthabhadram sequel

Super star of millions, our action star Suresh Gopi is back with a bang after his film ‘Dolphins’ got great appreciation from the audience and got very well reception at the box office also. Dolphins dirtected by diphan and scripted by Anoopmenon attracted the audience very much and this paved the way for Suresh gopi to make a strong come back to the commercial level of things in mollywood. And now reports are coming that Suresh gopi will do the lead role in the film ‘Rudra Simhaasanam’ scripted by novelist Sunil Parameshwaran and directed by Shibu Gangadharan. Nikki Gilrani will play the female lead in the film and it also will feature nedumudivenu and sudheerkaraman in prominent roles.

As per reports, Rudra Simhasanam will the second part of the successful film ‘Ananthabadram’, a Malayalam film directed by none other than master cinematographer Santhosh Sivan and scripted by Sunil Parameshwaran himself. Prithvi raj played the lead role in Ananthabhadram along with kavya Madhavan, Manoj K Jayan and Kalabhavan Mani, which was got released in 2005. Reports also says that Rudrasimhasanam will be the cinematic version of Sunil Parameshwaran’s novel ‘Bhadrasanam’.

Earlier this year Shibu Gangadharan had made his Debut  with ‘Praise the lord’, which was a cinematic version of famous writer Zakariya’s  story. The film had a great star cast including Mega star mammootty and mukesh. But the film failed to ring the money bells at the box office. Now shibu is all set to make amends for his failure and to return with a success through his second film ‘Rudra Simhasanam’.

Suresh Gopi also is very busy now with a handful of projects waiting for him. He got tremendous appreciation for his performance in Madhavramadas’s ‘Appothecary’ earlier this year and now success also came to his door in the form of ‘Dolphins’. His next will be ‘My God’ directed by M.Mohan in which Honey rose is doing the female lead. Vineeth Sreenivasan also doing an important character in this film. He has projects with B. Unnikrishnan and Shaji Kailas also.  Another film which sureshgopi fans are waiting for is Shanker’s Vikram starer ‘Ai’ in which Suresh Gopi had played an important role with a negative shade.

King Liar is coming from Siddique-Lal duo

Siddique-lal Duo was the only director duo in Mollywood who have a 100% success rate . They were jointly directed and scripted 6 films which include Ramjirao Speaking, God Father, Mannarmathayi Speaking (scripted only), In Hariharnagar, God father,Vietnam Colony and Kabooliwalah and all were biggest hits of that time. God father was one of the longest running movies in kerala along with ‘Chithram’ directed by Priyadarshan.

They broke up in 1993 and siddique continued as aadirector and Lal turned to production and acting career. Siddique has directed two films named Friends and Hitler for Lal’s production house and both the films were super hits.  Many years later Lal came back to direction with a sequel to their classic hit In Hariharnagar ,which was titled as ‘To Hariharnagar’. He also done its third part named as ‘In Ghost House Inn’ and a couple of other films such as tournament and cobra. Siddique while done films like Chronic Bachelor,Body Guard and Ladies and Gentleman. He also done many films in tamil and also one in hindi which was a record breaking hit in Bollywood.

Now the duo is coming together after a gap of 21 year with a new project titled ‘King Liar’ in which Popular actor Dileep will play the lead role. The duo had already started location hunt in and around muscat for the film. It will be the story of a master-liar whose character will be done by Dileep. The news is confirmed to the media by its producer OuseppachenVazhakkuzhi.  The movie will go on the floors very soon. The story,script and dialogues will be done by siddique and Lal will handle the director’s part.

Aprt from Dileep. other cast list is not finalized as of now. Siddique is also busy with the pre production work of his film with Mammootty named as Bhaaskar The Rasacal which will start rolling in this December. Siddique joining hands with mammootty after 11 years  and their last film ‘Chronic Bachelor’ was a big hit of the year 2003. King liar will be siddique’s second outing with Dileep after the success of ‘Body Guard’.

Indrajith planning to direct a film and he said to us in an exclusive interview that he will direct a film in the near future if the right story and script come across his way. He is waiting for the right time to go behind the camera and control things.

Indrajith ,the elder son of Late actor Sukumaran ,made his debut in film industry with the film, Oomapenninu Uriyaadapayyan; directed by Vinayan in 2002.  But he was become popular with role of a negative police officer named ‘Eepen Pappachi’ in Meeshamadhavan starred Dileep, directed by none other than Laljose. Now he has completed almost 50 films and the notable ones apart from Meesha Madhavan are Runway, Classmates, Chotta Mumbai, Arabikadha, Twenty Twenty, Naayakan,Elsammaenna Aankutti,Ee Aduthakalathu, Amen, Left right left and Ezhamathevaravu.

Laljose and arunkumararavind gave him notable roles and Lijo Josepellissery also used his acting talents well. He also had the fortune to work with the epic combination of M.T Vasudevannair- Hariharan team in the film named ‘Ezhamathevaravu’. Unfortunately the film does not well received. He had also done some hindi,English,tamil and telugu films in which notable ones are Kavya’s dairy, before the rains,sarvam, The waiting room etc. He is been very popular among fans for his versatility and natural acting. He does every kind of roles may its negative, comic, action or romantic. He had a huge fan following owe to this versatility. His comedy characters are highly popular among the family audience as well.

His most celebrated character in the recent times is the character named ‘Vattu Jayan’ in the film ‘Left right left’ directed by Arun Kumar Aravind. ‘Angels’,directed by debutant Jean  Marcos is on its way to the screens and its music launch took place few weeks back at Kochi. Onlookers Media correspondent have an exclusive chat with the hero of the film none other than Indrajith and he opened his mind on his hopes about the film and some other interesting informations.

Q : You had done many police characters in your career. How the one in Angels going to be different..?

Indrajith : I am  playing  a police officer named Hameem Haider in this film who is an SP in ranks. Even though I had already done many police characters such as in Laljose’s blockbuster Meesha Madhavan, Arunkumar Aravind directorial and highly discussed film “Left right left” and then the police character in “Masala Republic”, the role in Angels is one of a different kind and that is why I took up the role. The film begins with a big set back in the character’s proffessinal life and how it changes his attitude and how he overcomes it set the tone of the film.Angels is a Social investigative Thriller which aim to entertain as well as to give a social message. The entire crew had been worked so hard to make it different and that’s the challenge we had to face while making the film.

Q : You said in the audio launch that the film is a family affair for you..How is it like that..?

Indrajith : Infact the director Jean is my brother in law and Jean’s wife Maya who is one of the producer of this film is my first cousin. Jean and Maya was working as RJ’S in Dubai hit F.M. Jean has been my best friend for a long time and as I knows how passionate jean is about films, We had already discussed about many projects before and landed on the subject of Angels as we feel it was the right one for us to team up.

Q : You had done many kinds of roles as villain,comedian,romantic,serious etc..Which is more comfortable for you..?

Indrajith : I loves to do every type of characters but to do characters like “vattu Jayan” in left right left who has to portray many internal conflicts is a challenge and I am always ready to accept it. Every role is a challenge,especially something like in left right left. But as you all know to do humour is also very challenging for any actor.

Q : Once Prithviraj said that he love to do a character like that of Nayakan which was done by You. If we ask you the same question that which character you wished you had done it which Prithvi had done, what will be your answer..?

Indrajith : I was very much excited when I saw the film ” Mumbai Police” and I really wished to do a character like that.

Q : Many actresses are now coming back to acting profession after a break. Will poornima too comeback to her acting profession..?

Indrajith : I have no objection about my wife coming back to acting profession if she is ready. But now she is busy with our designing business enterprise and also busy in looking after our two children.If she wish to comeback, she will be there.

Q : Which are your future projects ?

Indrajith : My releases after Angels are “Cousins” directed by Vysakh in which kunchako boban,suraj and joju also teaming up with me .It will be a mass entertainer which covers many locations and will be a visual spectacle like that we see in Bollywood films. And then “Double Barrel” directed by Lijo jose pellissery which had a huge star cast including Prithvi Raj,Arya,Asif Ali and Sunny Wayne  along with me.

Q : You had already made your mark in the industry as an actor, singer etc. Do you have any plan to script or direct a film..?

Indrajith :Ofcourse I want to direct a film and had a plan to direct a film in the near future if the right subject come across my way.

Please don’t go behind the fake news, says Jishnu

For last few weeks there is a news spreading in the social medias like Facebook and Whatsup that famous mollywood actor Jishnu Raghavan is in critical condition after diagnosed with throat cancer. There is a picture of him also spreading which shows he is in serious condition after a surgery in the throat.

But now Jishnu himself come to inform us all through is social media page that he is perfectly alright and the news spreading is a fake one. The picture was taken 1 year ago by a hospital employee when he was under treatment. He said now he is very much healthy and planning a film to come back into the film field. Now he is undergoing the treatment for cancer and on his way to complete recovery and he also planning to do a movie with Rajesh Nair and it was Rajesh Nair himself who confirmed it through his Facebook page that he is at Jishnu’s home and discussing a script with him.

They also said that it was very painful to see people spreading all kind of fake news and they also said it’s a serious issue that a hospital employee took the photo of a patient who is in unconscious state in Intensive care unit. Jishnu was in KIMS hospital and recovering from a surgery when the picture was taken by a hospital employee. Actors like Prithviraj and Indrajith also lamented the spreading of these kind of fake newses and reacted in powerful words against those who took the photo in a hospital’s intensive care unit.

Jishnu Raghavan was the son of the veteran Actor Raghavan and Jishnu made his debut in mollywood through a film named ‘Nammal’ along with another debutante SiddharthBharathan, who is the son of actress KPSC Lalitha and Late Director Bharathan. ‘Nammal’ film was directed by none other than Kamal and it was a popular and successful film at that time. Later Jishnu got a number of films like Freedom, Valathottuthirinjal Nalamathe Veedu, Chakkaramuthu etc. But none of them done good at box office and he was away from films for a while nad later came back through the highly successful  film ‘Ordinary’.
