Here’s the trailer of Sharafudheen-Nyla Usha starrer Priyan Ottathilaanu

We had earlier reported about Sharafudheen and Nyla Usha teaming up for a new film titled ‘Priyan Ottathilaanu’. Antony Sony Sebastian, who made his directorial debut with ‘C/O Saira Banu’, is helming the film. Its trailer got released recently and is grabbing attention.

‘Priyan Ottathilaanu’ has Sharafudheen playing the titular role. Aparna Das, who was recently seen in ‘Beast’, is playing his wife’s role in the film. It is scripted by Abhayakumar K and Anil Kurian, who has earlier scripted hit films like ‘Su Su Sudhi Vathmeekam’ and ‘Punyalan Agarbathis’.

‘Priyan Ottathilaanu’ also stars Anarkali Marikar, Biju Sopanam, Harisree Ashokan, Jaffer Idukki and Sudhy Koppa as part of the supporting cast. From the film’s trailer, it promises to be a fun entertainer.

‘Priyan Ottathilaanu’ has many newcomers in the technical team. Cinematographer PM Unnikrishnan, editor Joel Kavi and music director Lijin Bambino are all making their feature film debut.

Santhosh Thrivikraman is producing the film under the banner of WOW Cinemas.

Mohanlal begins dubbing for Shaji Kailas’ Alone

During the pandemic last year, Mohanlal had shot for a film titled ‘Alone’ with Shaji Kailas. Said to be a single-actor film set in a single location, it is scripted by Rajesh Jayaraman, who has previously penned films like ‘Time’, ‘Bangkok Summer’, and ‘Sound of Boot’.

Mohanlal recently started dubbing for the film. Director Shaji Kailas took to social media to inform the same. Along with a couple of photos from their meet, he wrote,

‘Alone’ is said to be a small-scale investigative thriller. Abinandhan Ramanujam is the cinematographer and music department is handled by Jakes Bejoy. Don Max is in charge of the edits and Santhosh Raman, the production design.

Antony Perumbavoor is producing ‘Alone’ under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas. The makers are reportedly eyeing a direct OTT release.

RRR set to storm streaming platforms from tomorrow

The blockbuster Rajamouli directorial ‘RRR’ is all set to arrive on OTT tomorrow, 20th May. The film will be streaming on ZEE5 from tomorrow. It is by far ZEE5’s biggest acquisition and the streamer is ensuring their best to publicise the OTT premiere.

‘RRR’, which hit screens on March 25, emerged as a mega blockbuster at the box office. The film, which released simultaneously in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi, has done a box office business of over Rs 1000 crores. The film is still running in theatres in many areas. Its original uncut version is set to release in 100 theaters in the USA on June 1.

Starring Jr NTR and Ram Charan as the leads, ‘RRR’ is a fictional take on two freedom fighters Alluri Sita Ramaraju and Jr NTR’s Komaram Bheem joining forces to fight the British. Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, Olivia Morris, Samuthirakani, Alison Doody, Ray Stevenson, and Shriya Saran are also part of the film’s cast.

Lokesh Kanagaraj welcomes Suriya to the world of Vikram

Kamal Haasan’s much-awaited film ‘Vikram’ gearing up to hit screens on June 3. The film has had tremendous expectations right from the day of its announcement. With Lokesh Kanagaraj directing, the film has Kamal, Fahadh Faasil and Vijay Sethupathi as the leads. Actor Suriya is also playing a cameo role in it. Though the makers wanted to keep it a secret, the news got out after some location stills were leaked. Last day, Lokesh shared a photo taken with Suriya in social media and official welcomed him to the world of ‘Vikram’.

If speculations are to believed, ‘Vikram’ and Lokesh’s 2019-released film ‘Kaithi’ are set in the same universe. The director has already confirmed a sequel for ‘Kaithi’ and it is sair that Suriya’s character from ‘Vikram’ will have more prominence in ‘Kaithi 2’.

Though the trailer of ‘Vikram’ got recently released, it didn’t reveal anything about the film’s plot. Touted to be an action-packed entertainer, the film has plenty of action, gun shots and bloodshed. The cast also includes Narain, Kalidas Jayaram, Chemban Vinod Jose, Shivani Narayanan and many others.

Kamal Haasan’s own banner Raaj Kamal Film International (RKFI) is producing the film. Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Red Giant Movies will be distributing it in Tamil Nadu.

Actor Vijay, who is currently in Hyderabad shooting for his new film with Vamshi Paidipally, met Telangana Chief Minister Chandrasekhar Rao last day. Director Vamshi also accompanied Vijay for the meeting at Pragati Bhava, the CM’s office-cum-official residence.

Meanwhile, the shoot of Vijay- Vamshi Paidipally film, tentatively titled ‘Thalapathy 66’, is progressing at a brisk pace. Telugu-based production house Sri Venkateswara Creations is backing the film. The makers have already confirmed it as a Pongal 2023 release.

‘Thalapathy 66’ is reportedly a family-based entertainer. Rashmika Mandanna has been paired with Vijay in the film. Veterans Sarath Kumar, Prabhu, Prakash Raj and Jayasudha will be seen playing other important roles. The film has Thaman as the music director. Karthik Palani is the cinematographer and edits will be handled by Praveen KL.

Tovino’s highly ambitious project ‘Ajayante Randam Moshanam’ is currently in the pre-production stage. The film directed by debutant Jithin Lal has the star in a triple role for the first time in his career. It is a period film set in different timelines. The makers are currently in the process of getting together a solid technical team.

Recently, director Jithin Lal along with cinematographer Jomon T John and editor Shameer Muhammed had discussions with AnbAriv, one of South India’s leading stunt choreographers. Photos from their meeting have been shared in social media.

AnbAriv duo is known for their work in films like ‘Kaithi’, ‘Sarpatta Parambarai’, the ‘KGF’ films. Their most recent release was the Vijay starrer ‘Beast’. They are also behind the stunts in the upcoming multistarrer ‘Vikram’.

‘Ajayante Randam Moshanam’, scripted by Sujith Nambiar, has Tovino playing three characters named Maniyan, Kunjikelu and Ajayan. All three of them are from different timelines — 1900, 1950 and 1990s. Tamil music director Dhibu Ninan Thomas is making his Malayalam debut with this film. It is produced by UGM Movies.

12th Man set for premiere amidst high expectations

Mohanlal-Jeethu Joseph combo’s new film ’12th Man’ is set to have its premiere on Disney + Hotstar on June 20. The film, which promises to be a mystery thriller, has high expectations. Its intriguing trailer, which got released recently, caught the attention of many.

12th Man also stars Unni Mukundan, Anu Sithara, Aditi Ravi, Leona Lishoy, Anusree, ‘Pathinettam Padi’ fame Chandhunadh, Sshivadha, Priyanka Nair, Saiju Kurup, Anu Mohan, Nandu and Rahul Madhav.

We had earlier reported about Tovino Thomas and Keerthy Suresh starring in a new film titled ‘Vaashi’. The film touted to be a courtroom/legal drama has both the leads playing lawyers. It has been announced that the film will hit screens on June 17.

‘Vaashi’ is directed by debutant Vishnu G Raghav. The film also stars Anu Mohan, Sreelakshmi, ‘Thinakalazhcha Nishchayam’ fame Anagha, Nandu, Baiju Santhosh, Rony, Kottayam Ramesh, and Maya Viswanath.

‘Vaashi’ has its story is penned by Janiz Chacko Simon and screenplay is written by director Vishnu. Neil Dcunha is the DOP. Kailas Menon is composing the songs and the duo of Neha Nair and Yakzan Gary Pereira handle the background score. Arjun Benn is editing the film. Filmmaker Mahesh Narayanan is serving as the creative supervisor.

Keerthy’s father Suresh Kumar, a veteran in Malayalam industry, is producing the film. Her mother Menaka Suresh and sister Revathy Suresh are the co-producers. Urvashi Theatres and Ramya Movies will be releasing the film.

The hugely awaited Nivin Pauly starrer ‘Thuramukham’, after multiple delays in release, is finally set to hit screens on June 3. The Rajeev directorial was supposed to release much earlier but got delayed several times due to the pandemic and some other reasons.

‘Thuramukham’ directorial is a period film based on the historic protests against the inhuman ‘chappa’ system, that existed during the 1940s wherein copper coins were thrown at waiting workers in a primitive work guarantee scheme. Gopan Chidambaran has scripted the film based on his father KM Chidambaran’s play of the same name.

‘Thuramukham’ has a solid star cast comprising of Indrajith Sukumaran, Arjun Ashokan, Joju George, Nimisha Sajayan, Poornima Indrajith, Sudev Nair, Darshana Rajendran and Manikandan Achari in prominent roles. Sukumar Thekkeppat of Mini Studio is producing the film.
