Watch: When Vijay Sethupathi dropped in at the sets of Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham

The makers of ‘Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham’ have shared a video of Tamil star Vijay Sethupathi dropping in at the film’s sets during its shoot in Ramoji Rao Film City, Hyderabad. The short video has visuals of Vijay Sethupathi interacting with Mohanlal, director Priyadarshan, cinematographer Tirru and other crew members. Earlier, a similar video featuring Thala Ajith’s visit to ‘Marakkar’ location was also released.

Meanwhile, ‘Marakkar’ is getting ready for grand theatrical release on December 2. The film starring Mohanlal in the lead has the presence of popular actors like Suniel Shetty, Arjun Sarja, Pranav Mohanlal, Keerthy Suresh, Manju Warrier, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Prabhu, Mukesh, and Ashok Selvan.

‘Marakkar’ tells the story of Kunjali Marakkar IV, the naval chieftain of Zamorins who fought valiantly against the invading Portugese army in the 15th century. Touted to be the most expensive Malayalam film ever, it is set for a simultaneous release in multiple languages.

Vinayan announces Pathonpathaam Noottandu release date

Director Vinayan’s ambitious period film ‘Pathonpathaam Noottandu’ is currently in the final stages of shoot. The makers are planning to wrap up shoot on November 22. Last day, through a Facebook post, director Vinayan announced that the film will be hitting screens on April 14, 2022. Earlier, when there were talks about OTT release, the director dismissed it and stated that the film has been designed for a big screen experience and it will only be released in theatres no matter how long it takes.

‘Pathonpathaam Noottandu’ is an epic-period film set in the 19th century. Siju Wilson plays the lead role of Arattupuzha Velayudha Panicker, a brave Ezhava chieftain who lived in the 19th century. The film is primarily about the untold story of Panicker, who was the first martyr of the Kerala Renaissance movement.

Along with him, the film has a huge ensemble of actors. Chemban Vinod plays the role of Kayamkulam Kochunni. Kayadu Lohar, Anoop Menon, Deepti Sati, Sudheer Karamana, Suresh Krishna, Sudev Nair, Sreejith Ravi, Jaffer Idukki, Senthil Krishna, Bibin George, Biju Pappan, Indrans, Poonam Bajwa, Madhuri Braganza and many others are part of the supporting cast.

Gokulam Gopalan is producing this big-budget film.

Priyadarshan is helming a new Tamil film titled ‘Appatha’. Urvashi is playing the lead role it, which is also the actor’s landmark 700th film. The last time Priyadarshan and Urvashi worked together was 28 years back for the Malayalam film ‘Midhunam’.

Last day, the director took to his social media handle to share a photo with Urvashi from the film’s sets. The latter is seen sporting an old age getup in the photo. More details regarding the project are awaited.

Priyadarshan’s last outing in Tamil was for a short segment in the Netflix anthology ‘Navarasa’. His film had Yogi Babu, Nedumudi Venu, Remya Nambeesan and Manikuttan as the leads.

Meanwhile, the ace filmmaker’s dream project ‘Marakkar: Arabikkadalinte Simham’ is gearing up for a grand theatrical release on December 2. Starring Mohanlal in the titular role, the war-epic has several big names in the cast and crew. The film’s release has been delayed by over 2 years due to the pandemic.

Priyadarshan is also planning to work with Bollywood star Akshay Kumar next year.

Kamal Haasan had earlier revealed that he will be scripting a film which will be directed by Malayalam filmmaker Mahesh Narayanan of ‘Take Off’ and ‘Malik’ fame. It is worth a mention here that Mahesh had worked as an editor in Kamal Haasan’s ‘Vishwaroopam’ series.

The most recent buzz is that Vikram and Vijay Sethupathi will also be part of this upcoming project. In a recent interview, when asked about the same, the director denied reports about the casting. Though he confirmed that a project with Kamal is on cards, they’re yet to finalize the cast. Mahesh added that Kamal himself will be making an official announcement.

Kamal is currently shooting for ‘Vikram’, which also stars Fahadh Faasil and Vijay Sethupathi. After its completion, he will be resuming works on ‘Indian 2’ with director Shankar. The veteran is also in talks with directors Vetri Maaran and Pa Ranjith.

Mahesh, on the other hand, has ‘Ariyippu’ with Kunchacko Boban and his Bollywood debut ‘Phantom Hospital’ lined up.

Vaashi starring Tovino Thomas and Keeethy Suresh begins

Tovino Thomas and Keerthy Suresh are coming togther for the first time for a new film titled ‘Vaashi’. It got officially launched in Thiruvananthapuram with a customary pooja ceremony. The film is directed by debutant Vishnu G Raghav, who has previously acted in a couple of films including ‘Theevram’.

‘Vaashi’ has its story penned by Janiz Chacko Simon and screenplay by director Vishnu. The film has Neil Dcunha as the cinematographer, Kailas Menon as the music director and Mahesh Narayanan handling the edits.

‘Vaashi’ also stars Anu Mohan, Sreelakshmi, Nandu, Baiju Santhosh, Rony, Kottayam Ramesh, and Maya Viswanath among others. Keerthy’s father Suresh Kumar, a veteran in Malayalam industry, is producing the film. Her mother Menaka Suresh and sister Revathy Suresh are the co-producers.

Nayanthara is celebrating her birthday today and on this occasion, the announcement of her new film with director Ashwin Saravanan has been made. Titled ‘Connect’, it marks the actor-director duo’s reunion six years after ‘Maya’. Just like their previous film, ‘Connect’ also looks like a horror thriller. Along with Nayanthara, the film also stars Bollywood veteran Anupam Kher, Sathyaraj and child actor Haniya Nafisa.

Announcing the project, director Ashwin Saravanan tweeted,

‘Connect’ is scripted by Ashwin Saravanan and Kaavya Ramkumar, with whom the former had collaborated in ‘Game Over’, also a supernatural thriller.

Hareesh Peradi joins Kamal Haasan’s Vikram

Kamal Haasan-Lokesh Kanagaraj film film ‘Vikram’ already has the presence of Malayali actors like Fahadh Faasil, Narain and Kalidas Jayaram. Latest to join them is Hareesh Peradi. The ‘Left Right Left’ actor is noted in Tamil for his performances in films like ‘Vikram Vedha’, ‘Sketch’, ‘Mersal’ and ‘Raatchasi’. He has also worked with director Lokesh previously in ‘Kaithi’. He is expected to play a strong role in ‘Vikram’.

The film’s shoot is currently progressing at a brisk pace in Coimbatore. Portions involving the three leads, Kamal Haasan, Fahadh Fassil and Vijay Sethupathi will be shot in this fourth and final schedule. The film has cinematography by Girish Gangadharan, music by Anirudh Ravichander, edits by Philomin Raj and stunts handled by AnbAriv duo. Kamal Haasan’s own banner Raaj Kamal Film International (RKFI) is producing the film.

Although ‘Vikram’ was rumoured to be a spin-off of Kamal’s 1986 film of the same name, the makers are yet to confirm it.

As informed earlier, the makers of ‘Hridayam’ have shared the film’s teaser online. It begins with a couple, played by Pranav Mohanlal, and Kalyani Priyadarshan, having and a conversation about their past relationships. When asked if there was someone special, Pranav’s character is reminded of his college days, where he seems to have had a love story with a girl named Darshana. Darshana Rajendran essays this character.

‘Hridayam’ promises to be a youthful entertainer with most of its portions sent in a campus. Director Vineeth Sreenivasan has taken real-life inspirations to script this film, which tracks the life journey of a few individuals from their college days. Major portions of the film have been shot in the same engineering college in which Vineeth and his wife Divya studied.

‘Hridayam’ has music by Hesham Abdul Wahab and cinematography by Viswajith Odukkathil. Edits are handled by veteran Ranjan Abraham. The film is jointly produced jointly by Merryland Productions and Big Bang Entertainments.

Though the makers are yet to confirm this, we learn that the film is eyeing its theatrical release on January 21, 2022.

Inspired by the success of ‘Kurup’, the makers of Dulquer Salmaan’s upcoming film ‘Salute’ are planning to dub and release the film in Tamil and Telugu as well. Directed by Rosshan Andrrews, the film promises to be a cop-investigative thriller. The director has previously helmed the Tamil film ’36 Vayathinile’, which was the remake of his own ‘How Old Are You’. Popular Tamil music director Santhosh Narayanan, who was the composer in ’36 Vayathinile’, is handling the music department in ‘Salute’ as well.

Scripted by Bobby-Sanjay, ‘Salute’ has Dulquer playing the role of a police sub-Inspector named Aravind Karunakaran in it. This is the first time the actor is playing a full fledged police role in his career. Bollywood actress Diana Penty of ‘Cocktail’ fame plays the female lead. Manoj K Jayan, Saniya Iyappan, Lakshmi Gopalaswamy, Alencier Ley Lopez, and Binu Pappu are essaying other prominent roles in it. Dulquer himself is producing the film under his banner Wayfarer Films. The makers are eyeing to release it on December 17 ahead of Christmas. An official announcement is still expected.

Meanwhile, ‘Kurup’ continues to do excellent business at the box office. In Tamil Nadu, the dubbed version has emerged as a sleeper hit.

‘Liger’ marks Tyson’s acting debut in Indian cinema. He will be seen in a crucial cameo role in the film. Directed by Puri Jagganadh, it is an action-thriller featuring Vijay Deverakonda as kickboxer. As part of preparations for the film, the actor underwent a major physical transformation and martial arts training.

Bollywood actress Ananya Panday plays the female lead. The film also stars Ramya Krishnan, Ronit Roy, Makarand Deshpande and Vishu Reddy in important roles. Karan Johar is presenting the Hindi version of ‘Liger’. Charmee Kaur, Hiroo Yash Johar and Apoorva Mehta are also part of the production.

The film is planned to be released simultaneously in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi and Malayalam.
