Suriya donates Rs 15 lakhs to Parvathi Ammal, the real-life inspiration for Jai Bhim

On Tuesday, actor-producer Suriya met Parvathi Ammal, whose life story inspired the plot of ‘Jai Bhim’, and handed over the documents of fixed deposits worth Rs 15 lakhs. Rs 10 lakhs of this is contributed by Suriya alone and the other Rs 5 lakhs is on behalf of his production house 2D Entertainment, which is also headed by his wife Jyotika.

In 1993, Parvathi Ammal had fought a long legal battle for her husband Rajakannu and sought justice after he was killed in police custody. Earlier, actor-filmmaker Lawrence, who is also known for his philanthropic activities, had announced that he will build a house for Parvathi.

Prior to ‘Jai Bhim’ release, Suriya also donated Rs 1 crore to the Tamil Nadu government for the education and welfare of Irular students. The amount was donated to the Pazhankudi Irular Educational Trust, which works towards the education and welfare of the students from Irular community. The cheque was handed over to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin.

Dulquer Salmaan starrer has taken a phenomenal opening at the box office. As per reports, it has broken the record for the highest opening for a Malayalam film worldwide. The makers have now announced that the film has stormed past the Rs 50 crore mark. It took less than a week for the film to enter the elite club, which is nothing short of a remarkable feat.

Dulquer Salmaan, who is also the film’s producer took this opportunity to share his gratitude to the movie watching audience, who thronged theatres in large numbers despite the pandemic threat. He has written,

Wow!! This is huge !!! I cannot even fathom it. The sleepless nights, the countless moments of uncertainty and self-doubt, the sheer amount of stress and pressure over going through uncharted territories has all paid off. When we set out we just wanted to give the film our best and pray you all love it. I have no idea how to put in words the gratitude I have for all of you.

After clearing all the hurdles, ‘Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham’ is getting a grand theatrical release on December 2. The film starring Mohanlal in the lead has the presence of popular actors like Suniel Shetty, Arjun Sarja, Pranav Mohanlal, Keerthy Suresh, Manju Warrier, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Prabhu and Ashok Selvan.

Keerthy Suresh, who is making her comeback to Malayalam after a long gap, plays a character named Archa in the film. Last day, the makers had released a new poster featuring her. Sharing it, Keerthy wrote that she is thrilled and excited about playing the character. According to her, Archa is a charming and valiant personality.

‘Marakkar’ marks Keerthy’s reunion with director Priyadarshan, who launched her in 2013 with ‘Geethanjali’. The ‘Mahanati’ actor is doing another Malayalam film this year. Titled ‘Vaashi’, it will be directed by debutant Vishnu G Raghav and co-stars Tovino Thomas. Keerthy’s father Suresh Kumar is producing the film under the banner of Revathy Kalamandir.

First look of Jayasurya’s John Luther unveiled

We had earlier reported about Jayasurya starring in a new film titled ‘John Luther’. It is written and directed by debutant Abhijith Joseph. Last day, the makers revealed the first look poster. Jayasurya will be seen playing a cop’s role in the film. The poster got shared by Kerala’s Minister for Film Development Corporation and Chalachitra Academy Saji Cherian, and many others from the film industry.

‘John Luther’, said to be a thriller, also stars Aditi Ravi, Deepak Parambol, ‘Ambili’ fame Tanvi Ram and Siddique. Thomas P Mathew is producing the film under the banner of Alonsa Films. Roby Varghese Raj is wielding the camera and music department is handled by Shaan Rahman. Praveen Prabhakar is in charge of the edits.

Jayasurya meanwhile has some other projects lined up. He has committed for an ambitious film based on the life of Kadamattath Kathanar. Rojin Thomas, who recently made ‘Home’, is directing the film. It has been planned to be made in 3D format and is currently in the pre-production phase.

Jayasurya also has ‘Meri Awaaz Suno’, ‘Aposthalan’ and ‘Aadu 3’ in the pipeline. He will also be starring in the biopic of ‘Metro Man’ Sreedharan and late actor Sathyan.

Bheeshma Parvam is a period gangster drama!

‘Bheeshma Parvam’ directed by Amal Neerad and starring Mammootty is a hugely anticipated film. Expectations are high because the actor-director duo are teaming up after ‘Big B’, a film that has a cult status among the Malayali audience. In a recent media interaction, actor Shine Tom Chacko, who is playing a major role in ‘Bheeshma Parvam’, revealed that it is a gangster drama set in the 80s. The acclaimed ‘Iyobinte Pusthakam’ was Amal Neerad’s last attempt in making a period film.

‘Bheeshma Parvam’ has a solid supporting cast comprising of actors like Soubin Shahir, Farhaan Faasil, ‘Kettyolaan Ente Malakha’ fame Veena Nandakumar, Sreenath Bhasi, Nadiya Moidu, ‘Rangasthalam’ fame Anasuya, Maala Parvathi and Lena.

Newcomer Devadath Shaji has scripted the film along with Amal Neerad. Anend C Chandran of ‘Premam’ fame is the DOP and Sushin Shyam handles the music department. Amal Neerad himself is producing the film.

The makers are expected to announce the release plans soon.

The makers of ‘Radhe Shyam’ have revealed the first single online. Since it is a multilingual film, the song has also been released in different languages. Composed by Justin Prabhakar, the song is titled ‘Ee Raathale’ in Telugu and ‘Aagoozhile’ in Tamil. Yuvan Shankar Raja has lent his voice for the Tamil and Telugu versions of the song. Nihal Sadiq has crooned the male voice for the other two versions (Malayalam and Kannada). Harini Ivaturi has lent the femle vocals in all four languages.

‘Radhe Shyam’ directed by Radha Krishna Kumar is a period love story set in an European backdrop. Prabhas and Pooja Hegde play the leads in the film. The supporting cast also includes Malayaam actor Jayaram, Sachin Khedekar, Jagapathi Babu, Bhagyashree, Sasga Chettri, Priyadarshi Pullikonda, Murli Sharma, Riddhi Kapoor, Sasha Chettri, Sathyan and Kunaal Roy Kapoor.

‘Radhe Shyam’ will have a worldwide theatrical release on January 14, 2022.

Hridayam teaser release date announced

The makers of ‘Hridayam’ have announced that the film’s teaser will be out on November 17 at 6 PM. Director Vineeth Sreenivasan took to Facebook page to share,

Hi everyone, just a small update.. We will be releasing the Teaser of Hridayam on 17th November, that’s day after tomorrow, at 6 pm.. Stay tuned

‘Hridayam’ stars Pranav Mohanlal, Kalyani Priyadarshan and Darshana Rajendran as the leads. The film promises to be a youthful entertainer. Vineeth Sreenivasan has taken real-life inspirations to script this film, which tracks the life journey of a few individuals from their college days. Major portions of the film have been shot in the same engineering college in which Vineeth and his wife Divya studied.

‘Hridayam’ has Hesham Abdul Wahab composing music for this film. Viswajith Odukkathil is the DOP and edits handled by veteran Ranjan Abraham. The film is jointly produced jointly by Merryland Productions and Big Bang Entertainments.

It has been confirmed that the film will be having its theatrical release on January 21, 2022.

Dulquer Salmaan’s latest release ‘Kurup’ is shattering records at the box office. It is already claimed to have taken the highest opening for a Malayalam film worldwide. The film had a phenomenal run during its opening weekend and going by the bookings for the week days, it seems like the film will have a steady run.

Directed by Srinath Rajendran, the film is about the real-life criminal Sukumara Kurup, who has been absconding for over 3 decades. The film, which is partly fictious, has an intriguing tail end leaving it open for the possibility of a second part. When asked about the same by his Facebook followers in a recent interaction, director Srinath Rajendran confirmed that he does have plans for a sequel. He also added that it might take for such a project to materialize.

‘Kurup’ has its story written by Jithin K Jose. Screenplay is penned jointly by KS Aravind and Daniel Sayooj Nair. Indrajith Sukumaran, Tovino Thomas, Sunny Wayne, Sobhita Dhulipala, Shine Tom Chacko and Anupama Parameswaran are part of the main cast. Cinematographer Nimish Ravi, art director Vinesh Bangalan and editor Vivek Harshan form the core technical team.

Dulquer’s own banner Wayfarer Films has produced the film along with M Star Entertainment.

The first part of Allu Arjun-Sukumar film ‘Pushpa’ is slated to hit screens on December 17 ahead of Christmas. Meanwhile, the makers are planning to some interesting promo materials. Buzz is that Samantha is making a special appearance in song in the film. Devi Sri Prasad is composing the music. It is reported that this song will be shot next week. An official confirmation is awaited in this regard.

Directed by Sukumar, ‘Pushpa’ is a two-part action packed entertainer that revolves around the smuggling of red sanders in Seshachalam Hills of Andhra Pradesh. Malayalam star Fahadh Faasil is making his Telugu debut by essaying the villain role. Rashmika Mandanna is paired with Allu Arjun. Prakash Raj, Harish Uttaman, Anasuya, Jagapathi Babu, Sunil, Anasuya Bharadwaj, Dhananjay and Vennela Kishore are also part of the cast.

‘Pushpa’ is planned as a pan-Indian film with release in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada and Malayalam languages.

New teaser of Asif Ali’s Kunjeldho out; Release date announced

The long delayed Asif Ali starrer ‘Kunjeldho’ is finally getting ready for release on big screens. The makers have announced December 24 as the release date. With that ‘Kunjeldho’ has joined the Christmas race. More films are expected to be out during this period. Along with the release date, a new teaser has also been shared. It has some breezy visuals of life in a campus.

‘Kunjeldho’ marks the directorial debut of RJ Mathukutty. It is a coming-of-age flick that has Asif Ali as a school student and later as a college-going youth. Debutante Gopika Udhayan is paired with him. The supporting cast includes Roopesh Peethambaran, Siddique, Rekha, Margret Antony, Arjun Gopal, Krithika Pradeep, and Sudheesh among others.

‘Kunjeldho’ is being produced jointly by Suvin K Varkey and Prashobh Krishna of Little Big Films. Vineeth Sreenivasan is also part of the team as the creative director. Swaroop Philip has wielded the camera and music is handled by Shaan Rahman. Ranjan Abraham is editing the film.
