Naatu Naatu: RRR second single is already a chartbuster

The second single from ‘RRR’ got released online last day. Like the earlier single, this one has also been released in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi and Kannada languages. MM Keeravaani has composed the song, which is titled as ‘Naatu Naatu’ in Tekugu. In Malayalam, it is titled ‘Karinthol’. Mankombu Gopalakrishnan has written the lyrics and it is sung by KS Harisankar and Yazin Nizar. Towards the end of the lyric video, we can see the film’s two lead actors Ram Charan and Jr NTR dancing fiercely matching each other.

Made by director SS Rajamouli on a mammoth budget, ‘RRR’ is about two freedom fighters, Alluri Sita Ramaraju and Komaram Bheem who fought against the British Raj and the Nizam of Hyderabad, respectively. Ram Charan plays the role of Alluri Sita Ramaraju, while Jr NTR essays the part of Komaram Bheem.

Bollywood actors Ajay Devgn and Alia Bhatt are also playing crucial roles. The film is produced by DVV Danayya under the banner of DVV Entertainment. The makers have announced that the film will be hitting screens worldwide on January 7, 2022.

Debutant director Sreejith N is helming the film, which is the big screen adaptation of GR Indugopan’s popular story ‘Amminipilla Vettu Case’. The film is produced by Mukesh R Mehta and CV Sarathi under the banner of E4 Entertainment.

Rajesh Pinnadan has adapted the screenplay. On the technical front, the makers have got veteran Madhu Neelakandan as the cinematographer and ‘Joji’ fame Justin Varghese as the music director. Sameera Saneesh is the costume designer and Dileep Nath handles the art department.

Manju Warrier-Soubin Shahir starrer Vellarikka Pattanam launched.

Soubin Shahir and Manju Warrier are teaming up for a new film titled ‘Vellarikka Pattanam’. The film got launched in Chengannur with a customary pooja ceremony. The makers have planned a 45-day long shoot for this rural based entertainer. Full On Studios is producing the film.

Director Mahesh Vettiyar has scripted the film along with Sarath Krishna. Alex J Pulickal is cranking the camera and edits will be handled by Appu Bhattathiri and Arjun Benn. Sachin Shankor Mannath is the music director.

Manju Warrier and Soubin Shahir will also be seen as the leads in the upcoming Santosh Sivan film ‘Jack and Jill’. Currently, both the actors have multiple projects lined up. Soubin will be seen as the lead in Siddharth Bharathan’s ‘Djinn’ and Lal Jose’s ‘Meow’. He is also acting alongside Mammootty in the Amal Neerad directorial ‘Bheeshma Parvam’.

Manju Warrier is part of biggies like ‘Marrkar’, ‘Padavettu’ and ‘Kaappa’. ‘Lalitham Sundaram’, ‘9MM’, ‘Meri Awaaz Suno’, ‘Ayisha’ and ‘Kayyattam’ are her other upcoming films.

‘Kammarasambhavam’ director Rathish Ambat has joined the team of directors who are part of the upcoming Netflix anthology based on MT Vasudevan Nair’s stories. Rathish’s film has been titled as ‘Kadalkattu’ and it will have Indrajith Sukumaran, Ann Augustine and Aparna Balamurali as the leads.

Planned as a 10-part anthology, it has films helmed by directors Priyadharshan, Shyamaprasad, Santosh Sivan, Jayaraj, Mahesh Narayanan and Lijo Jose Pellissery.
The cast includes the likes of Mohanlal, Mammootty, Biju Menon, Parvathy Thiruvoth, Fahadh Faasil, Sshivada, Indrans and Nedumudi Venu among others. Each segment is based on a story by MT Vasudevan Nair.

Rathish Ambat also has another film titled ‘Theerppu’ coming up. The film scripted by Murali Gopy has Prithviraj, Indrajith, Isha Talwar, Saiju Kurup, Vijay Babu and Hannah Reji Koshy in the main roles. Its shoot has been completed and the film is likely to have a direct release on Amazon Prime Video.

Fahadh is currently shooting for the Tamil film ‘Vikram, co-starring Kamal Haasan and Vijay Sethupathi. Mahesh Narayanan, meanwhile, has ‘Ariyippu’ with Kunchacko Boban, his Hindi directorial debut ‘Phantom Hospital’ and a film with Kamal Hassan in the lineup.

Sunny Deol to star in Joseph Hindi remake

After getting remade in Tamil, the hit Malayalam film ‘Joseph’ is now getting a Hindi version. Sunny Deol is set to star in the remake, which will be directed by M Padmakumar, who helmed the original version as well. It marks the ‘Mamangam’ director’s debut in Hindi cinema.

‘Joseph’ starring Joju George in the titular role is about a retired policeman finding out the mystery behind his wife and daughter’s deaths Joju’s performance in the film was widely appreciated and he won a Special Jury Mention in National Awards and the Kerala State award for Best Character Actor. It is reported that Sunny Deol was highly impressed by ‘Joseph’ and he wanted the remake version to be as real and gritty as the original. More details regarding the project are awaited.

M Padmakumar had also remade ‘Joseph’ in Tamil as ‘Visithran’. Producer-turned-actor RK Suresh plays the lead role in the film, which is produced by acclaimed filmmaker Bala. Most works have already been completed and the makers are expected to release the film soon.

We had recently reported about the ‘Pulimurugan’ trio of Mohanlal, director Vysakh and scriptwriter Udhayakrishna teaming up for a new film. Titled as ‘Monster’, the film’s first look poster has been shared online. It has Mohanlal playing a Sikh character named Lucky Singh and he is seen sporting a turban in the poster. Guns, and bullets magazines can also be spotted in the poster, which indicates that the film will be an actioner.

‘Monster’ has Satheesh Kurup as the DOP and Deepak Dev as the music director. Editor Shameer Muhammed, action choreographer Stunt Silva and many others are part of the technical crew. Details regarding the supporting cast has not yet been revealed.

The film has Ayushmann as Manu, a body building enthusiast and Vaani as Maanvi, a Zumba instructor. The two get attracted instantly and fall passionately in love but only later does he realize that there’s a twist. Maanvi is revealed to be a trans woman.

The Abhishek Kapoor directorial is an unusual love story as it is probably the first time in mainstream Indian cinema that such a romantic track is being explored. Despite having an important issue at the core, the film has all the elements of a proper entertainer that will please a commoner.

Aaha trailer: Indrajith’s film promises to be an emotionally driven template sports drama

Indrajith Sukumaran’s sports flick ‘Aaha’ is gearing up for theatrical release on November 26. Last day, the makers shared its trailer online and it looks impressive. It seems to be a template sports drama where Indrajith plays a tug-of-war veteran who makes a comeback years later to coach a young team.

Debutant Bibin Paul Samuel is directing the film, which is based on Kerala’s own sport, ‘tug of war’ aka ‘vadamvali’. The film scripted by Tobit Chirayath is inspired from a famous team called Aaha Neeloor from Pala.

Santhy Balachandran of ‘Tharangam’ and ‘Jallikattu’ fame is paired with Indrajith in the film. Manoj K Jayan, Amit Chakalakkal, Ashwin K Kumar, Nitin Tomas, Sidhartha Siva and many others are part of the cast. The technical crew of comprises of cinematographer Rahul Balachandran and music directors Sayanora Philip and Shiyad Kabeer (background score). Director Bibin Paul Samuel himself is editing the film.

‘Aaha’ is being produced by Prem Abraham of Zsa Zsa Productions.
