It’s a wrap for Mammootty-Parvathy starrer Puzhu

The makers of ‘Puzhu’ have successfully wrapped up the film’s shoot. Starring Mammootty and Parvathy as the leads, the film is directed by debutane Ratheena. Mammootty informed the completion of shoot by sharing a group photo with the crew members. He also added that ‘Puzhu’ is a progressive and ambitious film, which he can’t wait to show to the audience.

Mammootty has written,

Happy to share that we wrapped the shoot of #Puzhu ! It’s a progressive and ambitious film. It’s been a great experience making the film. I can’t wait for all of you to watch the final product.

‘Puzhu’ has its story written by ‘Unda’ fame Harshad. He has penned the screenplay along with Suhas and Sharfu, who made their debut with ‘Varathan’ and later co-wrote the multi-starrer ‘Virus’.

Theni Eswar, who was the cinematographer for some critically-acclaimed Tamil films, is making his Malayalam debut with ‘Puzhu’. Jakes Bejoy has been assigned as the music director and Deepu Joseph is handling the edits.

Mammootty’s long time associate S George is producing the film and Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films will be releasing it in theatres.

Ollulleru: Ajagajantharam makers release a super-fun song

The makers of ‘Ajagajantharam’ have released the first single online. Titled ‘Ollulleru’ it is a trippy song with fast and energetic beats. It is a traditional dance song of the Mavila community. Justin Varghese has produced and arranged the song.

The visuals instantly reminds one of the songs in ‘Angamaly Diaries’. It makes more sense considering the fact that most of the team members including the director and writers of ‘Ajagajantharam’ were also part of ‘Angamaly Diaries’.

Tinu Pappachan of ‘Swathanthryam Ardharathriyil’ fame is directing the film, which promises to be a full-on action entertainer set in the backdrop of a temple festival. Vineeth Viswam and Kichu Tellus have scripted the film.

Antony Varghese plays the lead role. Arjun Ashokan, Lukman, Kichu Tellus, Sabumon, Jaffer Idukki, Rajesh Sharma, Tito Wilson, Vijilesh and Vineeth Viswam will be seen essaying other major roles. The film has Jinto George as the cinematographer, Justin Varghese as the music director and Shameer Muhammed as the editor.

Emmanuel Joseph and Ajith Thalapilly are jointly producing ‘Ajagajantharam’ under the banner of Silver Bay Studios. The film has seen a long delay in release due to the pandemic. As theatres reopen in Kerala on October 25, the makers are hopeful of releasing it soon.

Dilieep-Raffi film Voice of Sathyanathan begins!

As reported by us earlier, Dileep and director Raffi are joining hands for a new film titled ‘Voice of Sathyanathan’. The film’s shoot got launched recently with a switch on ceremony. ‘Kettyolaan Ente Malakha’ fame Veena Nandakumar plays the female lead. On the first day, the makers shot some portions featuring Dileep and Veena.

‘Voice of Sathyanathan’ scripted by Raffi promises to be a fun entertainer. The film also has Joju George, Siddique, and Johny Antony in major roles. It has Jithin Stansilaus as the cinematographer and ‘Joji’ fame Justin Varghese as the music director. Shameer Muhammed is the editor. It is produced by Dilieep, Badusha NM, Prijin JP and Shinoy Mathew.

‘Voice of Sathyanathan’ marks the reunion of Dileep and Raffi after a long gap. Raffi along Mecartin had worked with Dilieep in hit films like ‘Punjabi House’, ‘Thenkasipattanam’, ‘Pandippada’ and ‘China Town’. Raffi also made his independent directorial debut with the Dileep starrer ‘Ring Master’.

Rajinikanth’s Annaatthe teaser storms past 7 million views

As announced earlier, the teaser of Rajinikanth’s much-awaited film ‘Annaatthe’ dropped in on October 14 at 6 PM. It is an action-packed teaser in which the superstar is seen in a fierce avatar. From the teaser itself, it is evident that the film will have a lot of fight scenes. The video has already crossed a whopping 7 million views in YouTube.

‘Annaatthe’ directed by Siva promises to be a family-oriented mass entertainer. It is after a long gap that Rajinikanth is starring in a rural-based film and naturally, expectations are high. The film also boasts of a huge star cast comprising of actors like Nayanthara, Keerthy Suresh, Meena, Khushbu, Jagapathi Babu, Prakash Raj, Soori and Sathish.

Vetri is the cinematographer and Ruben does the edits. D Imman is handling the music department. The makers have already released a couple of songs and they have got decent reception.

Jayasurya and Anna Ben won the awards in the Best Actor categories while Jeo Baby’s ‘The Great Indian Kitchen’ was chosen as the Best Film. Siddharth Siva bagged the Best Director award. Late filmmaker Sachy’s ‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’ was adjudged the Best Film with Popular Appeal and Aesthetic Value.

The superhit Telugu film ‘Pelli Choopulu’ is being remade in Tamil as ‘Oh Mana Penne’. Harish Kalyan and Priya Bhavani Shankar are reprising the lead roles played by Vijay Deverakonda and Ritu Varma in the original. The trailer of the Tamil version has been released and it looks like a well-made faithful remake.

‘Oh Mana Penne’ is directed by debutant Kaarthikk Sundar. The film also stars Ashwin Kumar and Abishek Kumar in supporting roles. It has cinematography by Krishnan Vasant and music by Vishal Chandrasekhar. Kripikaran Purushothaman is handling the edits.

It is worth a mention that ‘Pelli Choopulu’ was also remade in Malayalam. Titled ‘Vijay Superum Pournamiyum’, the film had Asif Ali and Aishwarya Lekshmi playing the central characters. The Jis Joy directorial emerged as a commercial success.

Meanwhile, ‘Oh Mana Penne is set to release directly on Disney + Hotstar. It will be premiering on October 22. The film is produced by Studios LLP and A Havish Pictures in association with SP Cinemas

Srivalli: Here’s a new song from Allu Arjun-Rashmika Mandanna starrer Pushpa

As announced earlier by the makers of ‘Pushpa’, the second single titled ‘Srivalli’ has been released. Sid Sriram has lent his voice for the song, which is composed by Devi Sri Prasad. Chandrabose is the lyricist. It is a beautiful song, which has glimpses of the lead pair Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna. Srivalli is the latter’s character name in the film.

Directed by Sukumar, ‘Pushpa’ is a two-part film that is touted to be an action packed entertainer. It revolves around the smuggling of red sanders in Seshachalam Hills of the Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh. Malayalam star Fahadh Faasil is making his Telugu debut by essaying the villain role. Prakash Raj, Harish Uttaman, Anasuya, Jagapathi Babu, Sunil, Anasuya Bharadwaj and Vennela Kishore are also part of the cast.

The first part ‘Pushpa – The Rise’ will be hitting screens on December 17 ahead of Christmas. It will be releasing in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada and Malayalam languages.

Tovino Thomas-Kalyani Priyadarshan starrer Thallumala launched

Tovino Thomas and Kalyani Priyadarshan are coming together for the first time for a new film titled ‘Thallumala’. Directed by Khalid Rahman, the film got launched on Monday with a customary switch on ceremony. Ashiq Usman, who last produced Khalid’s ‘Love’ is backing this film as well. According to the producer, ‘Thallumala’ is the most the challenging film to have come out from his banner. He has earlier backed films like ‘Chandrettan Evideya’, ‘Kali’ and ‘Anjaam Pathiraa’.

‘Thallumala’ was first announced with Tovino and Soubin Shahir as the leads. Muhsin Parari was supposed to direct the film with Aashiq Abu and Rima Kallingal producing it under the banner of OPM Pictures. But the project underwent some changes before Ashiq Usman hopped on board.

Muhsin Parari is still associated with the film as a scenarist. Ashraf Hamza, the director of ‘Thamaasha’, has joined Muhsin in penning the screenplay. Jimshi Khalid is the cinematographer and Vishnu Vijay will be handling the music department.

The makers have already confirmed that they are planning an Eid 2022 release.

Recently on Nivin Pauly’s birthday, the makers of ‘Thuramukham’ released a special poster featuring him. Directed by Rajeev Ravi, it is a period film made on a big scale. The film has a star-studded cast comprising of Indrajith Sukumaran, Joju George, Nimisha Sajayan, Arjun Ashokan, Sudev Nair, Poornima Indrajith, Darshana Rajendran and Manikandan Achari.

‘Thuramukham’ is based on the historic protests against the inhuman ‘chappa’ system, that existed during the 1940s wherein copper coins were thrown at waiting workers in a primitive work guarantee scheme. Gopan Chidambaran has scripted the film based on his father KM Chidambaran’s play of the same name.

Sukumar Thekkeppat of Mini Studio is producing the film, which has been the making for well over a year now. The makers had planned to release the film earlier this in May during the Eid season. But it wasn’t possible because of the pandemic second wave. With theatres in Kerala reopening from October 25, a new release date announcement is expected to be made anytime soon.

Vijay and Lokesh Kanagaraj to reunite for Thalapathy 67?

Ever since the blockbuster success of ‘Master’, there have been reports about Vijay and director Lokesh Kanagaraj teaming up for another film. It is now reported widely that the actor’s next after his ongoing film ‘Beast’ will be helmed by Lokesh. 7 Screen Studio, the co-producers of ‘Master’, will be backing ‘Thalapathy 67’ (tentative title).

Lokesh is presently working on ‘Vikram’ that has Kamal Haasan, Fahadh Faasil and Vijay Sethupathi in the main roles. Expectations are huge on the film, which promises to be a mass entertainer with a lot of action in it. Shoot is at the halfway stage.

Lokesh had also announced a sequel to his sophomore directorial ‘Kathi’ with Karthi. But it is not yet known when the film will go on floors.

Meanwhile, Vijay is working on ‘Beast’ directed by Nelson Dilipkumar fame. The smashing success of the director’s recent film ‘Doctor’ has invariably heightened the expectations on ‘Beast’. Planned as a pan-Indian action film, it has Pooja Hegde as the female lead.

After the completion of ‘Beast’, Vijay will be teaming up with Telugu filmmaker Vamshi Paidapally. Sri Venkateswara Creations, one of the leading banners in Tollywood, are entering Tamil industry with this film.
