Taapsee Pannu looks impressive in Rashmi Rocket trailer

The trailer of Taapsee Pannu’s new film ‘Rashmi Rocket’ has been released. The film directed by Akarsh Khurana is scheduled to release on Zee5 on October 15.

From the trailer, we can make that the film is about the story of an athlete named Rashmi. After making her way up, the sprinter’s life takes a drastic turn after she is forced to undergo a gender test. The film then seems to follow her struggle and the eventful journey of a female athlete from a small-town.

‘Rashmi Rocket’ has stars Priyanshu Painyuli as Taapsee’s pair. ‘Paatal Lok’ fame Abhishek Banerjee will be seen as a lawyer in the film. Others in the cast include Shweta Tripathi and Supriya Pathak.

Taapsee Pannu has pinned high hopes on the film. The actress had put in a lot of efforts to play the athlete’s role and it is evident from the trailer itself. Kanika Dhillon and Aniruddha Guha have written the film’s screenplay based on a story by Nandha Periyasamy.

‘Rashmi Rocket’ is produced by Ronnie Screwvala, Neha Anand, and Pranjal Khandhdiya.

Thalapathy 66: Vijay’s next with Vamshi Paidipally announced

It has been officially announced that Vijay’s next will be helmed by Telugu filmmaker Vamshi Paidipally Dil Raju and Shirish are producing the film under the banner of Sri Venkateswara Creations. Tentatively titled ‘Thalapathy 66’, it marks the production house’s maiden Tamil film.

The official press note from the makers read, “With immense pleasure and happiness, we at Sri Venkateswara Creations announce our first ever Tamil film with Thalapathy Vijay. We are extremely excited about this much-anticipated project and could not have asked for a better beginning than being associated with Thalapathy Vijay. This will for sure be a proudest project for us.”

Vamshi Paidipally is well known for helming mainstream films like ‘Brindavanam’, ‘Yevadu’ and ‘Oopiri’ (‘Thozha’, in Tamil). His last film ‘Maharshi’ starring Mahesh Babu was a huge commercial success. The film also won the National award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment.

Naturally, Vijay’s film with Vamshi will have high expectations. Details regarding its genre, team members and when shoot begins are expected to be out soon.

Boney Kapoor confirms collaborating with Ajith and H Vinoth for the third time

Producer Boney Kapoor has confirmed that he will be teaming up with Ajith and H Vinoth for the third time. Their first film together ‘Nerkonda Paarvai’ was the remake of ‘Pink’. Second from their combo is the much-anticipated ‘Valimai’. The film is slated to hit screens for Pongal in January.

Boney Kapoor pins high hopes on Vinoth. In a recent The Hindu interview, he is quoted saying, “His work will talk. He believes in expressing himself through his films. His vision was clear, and ours has been a happy journey. In fact, my next film will also be with Ajith and Vinoth”

‘Valimai’ is touted to be an action thriller in which Ajith plays the role of a cop. Karthikeya Gummakonda of ‘RX 100’ fame is the antagonist and Bollywood actress Huma Qureshi essays the female lead’s role. The film has cinematography by Nirav Shah and music by Yuvan Shankar Raja.

Prithviraj’s Bhramam trailer is impressive!

As ‘Bhramam’ gears up for its Indian premiere in Amazon Prime Video on October 7, the makers have released the trailer online. Going by the 2.38-long trailer, it looks like a faithful remake of ‘Andhadhun’. It seems like the makers have made minimal changes to make it appealing to the Malayali audience.

Directed by Ravi K Chandran, the film has Prithviraj reprising Ayushmann Khuranna’s role from the original. Unni Mukundan, Mamta Mohandas, Raashi Khanna, Anany, Shine Tom Chacko, Jagadheesh, Shankar and many others are part of the film’s cast.

‘Bhramam’ script has been adapted by Sarath Balan. Jakes Bejoy handles the music department and director Ravi K Chandran himself is the DOP.

Meanwhile, ‘Maestro’, the Telugu remake of ‘Andhadhun’ got released earlier this month. Starring, Nithiin Tamannaah and Nabha Natesh as the leads, the film premiered on Disney + Hotstar and garnered mixed response.

There is also a Tamil version in the making. Titled ‘Andhagan’, it has Prashanth, Simran, Priya Anand and Samuthirakani in prominent roles.

Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi to star in Driving Licence remake!

If reports are to be believed, yet another Malayalam movie is set to be remade in Hindi. Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi are rumoured to play the leads in the remake of ‘Driving Licence’. Raj Mehta, who has worked with Akshay in ‘Good Newwz’, will be helming this film and Karan Johar’s Dharma Produtions will be producing it.

‘Driving Licence’ scripted by the late Sachy and directed by Jr Lal had Prithviraj Sukumaran and Suraj Venjaramoodu as the leads. The film is about a troublesome relationship between a film star and his once-ardent fan. Upon its release in December 2019, the film emerged as a big hit at the box office. Ever since then, there have been rumours about the film getting remade in other languages.

It is learnt that the Hindi version will be slightly tweaked to suit their sensibilities. Akshay Kumar will be playing the superstar’s role and Emraan Hashmi will be playing the part essayed by Suraj Venjaramoodu in the original. As per reports, the team is looking at beginning production in January 2022 and wrap up the entire film in a 40-day-long schedule.

Fahadh Faasil to star alongside Udhayanidhi Stalin in Mari Selvaraj’s next

We had earlier reported about Mari Selvaraj planning to team up with Udhayanidhi Stalin for a new film. It is learnt that they are planning to start shoot in December. Buzz is that Malayalam actor Fahadh Faasil has also been roped in to play a major role in it. Though details regarding his character are not yet known, it is expected to be a strong, performance-oriented one.

As per reports, the film will be based on the life of a South Tamil Nadu personality. Maestro AR Rahman will be composing music for this film. Shoot will begin from December and will be completed in a single schedule of 40 days. An official word is still awaited.

Mari Selvaraj is regarded as one of the most promising filmmakers in Tamil cinema currently. After the back to back success of ‘Pariyerum Perumal’ and ‘Karnan’, the director will be hoping to continue the good run. Besides the Udhayanidhi-Fahadh Faasil project, he has also committed for a Kabbadi-based film with Dhruv Vikram.

Starring Allu Arjun in the titular role, the film is directed by Sukumar. Planned to be released in two parts, it is a big-scale action packed entertainer revolving around the smuggling of red sanders the Seshachalam Hills of the Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh.

Malayalam star Fahadh Faasil is making his Telugu debut by playing the villain role in this film. While Allu Arjun plays a smuggler, Fahadh is said to be essaying the role of a corrupt police officer. Others in the cast include Prakash Raj, Harish Uttaman, Anasuya, Jagapathi Babu, Sunil, Anasuya Bharadwaj and Vennela Kishore.

‘Liger’ directed by Puri Jagganadh promises to be a full-on action film featuring Vijay Deverakonda as kickboxer. As part of preparations for the film, the actor underwent a major physical transformation and martial arts training.

Bollywood actress Ananya Panday plays the female lead. The film also stars Ramya Krishnan, Ronit Roy and Vishu Reddy in important roles.
Karan Johar is presenting the Hindi version of ‘Liger’. Popular actress Charemee Kaur, Hiroo Yash Johar and Apoorva Mehta are also part of the production.

The film is planned to be released simultaneously in 5 languages — Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi and Malayalam.

Rocketry – The Nambi Effect release date announced

With theatres reopening in Maharashtra from October 22, a flurry of movie release dates were announced last day. One among them is R Madhavan’s directorial debut ‘Rocketry – The Nambi Effect’. The film will be hitting screens on April 1, 2022.

In an official statement, the makers said,

We are elated to inform you that the much-awaited Rocketry: The Nambi Effect will be released worldwide in theatres on 1st April 2022.

We have made this movie with a lot of love and dedication and are grateful for all the support that you have shown us so far.

‘Rocketry’ will be released in Tamil, Malayalam, Hindi, English, Kannada and Telugu languages. The film is the biopic of famous scientist Nambi Narayanan. Madhavan himself is playing the lead role and Simran essays his wife’s part.

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan will be seen in a cameo role of a journalist who takes the audience through the protagonist’s journey in flashback. The same character is reprised by Suriya in the film’s Tamil and Telugu version.

Priyadarshan’s next with Biju Menon begins!

Netflix is planning a 10-part film series, which will all be based on MT Vasudevan Nair’s stories. Priyadarshan is directing one of these segments and it has Biju Menon as the lead. The film’s shoot has kick-started in Pattambi.

The film is based on a story titled Shilalikhitham. Apparently, this is the first time Priyadarshan is working on a script by MT. Moreover, this is also the director’s first outing with Biju Menon. So it will be interesting to see how their combination turns out. The cast also includes Shanthi Krishna, TG Ravi, Sshivada and Joy Mathew.

The anthology series also has films helmed by Shyamaprasad, Jayaraj and Santosh Sivan. While Parvathy plays the lead in Shyamaprasad’s film, Unni Mukundan stars in Jayaraj’s segment. Siddique is said to be essaying the lead role in Santosh Sivan’s film.

News Value Productions Pvt Ltd headed by MT’s daughter Aswathy V Nair and Sudheer Ambalappad is producing the films. More details regarding the project are still awaited.
