Official: Netflix announces Minnal Murali release date

The much-awaited release date of ‘Minnal Murali’ has been announced. Streaming giant Netflix has announced that the film will be out on their platform on December 24 as a Christmas special.

Directed by Basil Joseph, ‘Minnal Murali’ is a superhero film that has Tovino Thomas in the lead. Planned as a pan-Indian film, it will be releasing in 5 languages – Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi. Sophia Paul of Weekend Blockbusters is producing the biggie.

‘Minnal Murali’ is scripted by Arun Anirudhan and Justin Mathew. The film also stars Tamil actor Guru Somasundaram, Aju Varghese, Baiju Santhosh, Harisree Ashokan, Mammukoya, debutante Femina George and many others. DOP Sameer Thahir, music director Shaan Rahman and Hollywood-based action choreographer Vlad Rimburg form the core technical team.

Though the film was originally planned as a big screen spectacle, the uncertainty regarding theatres reopening in Kerala forced the makers to opt for an OTT release. Reportedly, Netflix acquired the rights for a huge price.

Dilieep and Raffi team up for Voice of Sathyanathan

Dileep and director Raffi are joining hands for a new film titled ‘Voice of Sathyanathan’. The project got officially announced today by introducing the crew members. Raffi himself is scripting the film, which promises to be an entertainer. It is produced by Dilieep, Badusha NM, Prijin JP and Shinoy Mathew.

‘Voice of Sathyanathan’ marks the reunion of Dilieep and Raffi after a long gap. Raffi along with his former direction partner Mecartin had worked with Dilieep in hit films like ‘Punjabi House’, ‘Thenkasipattanam’, ‘Pandippada’ and ‘China Town’. Later, in 2014, Raffi made his independent directorial debut with the Dileep starrer ‘Ring Master’. The two will be hoping to deliver a hit with their comeback film.

‘Voice of Sathyanathan’ has Jithin Stansilaus as the DOP and ‘Joji’ fame Justin Varghese as the music director. Shameer Muhammed is the editor. Details regarding the film’s genre, supporting cast and when shoot begins are expected to be announced soon.

Director Shankar’s daughter Aditi to film industry; Debut with Karthi

Shankar is one of the prominent directors of India who works in the Tamil film industry. Now, his youngest daughter Aditi is making her acting debut in a new movie starring Tamil actor Karthi.

The film is directed by Muthaiah and is titled ‘Viruman’. Yuvan Shankar Raja is composing the music for the film. The film ‘Viruman’ is said to be a family entertainer under the banner of 2D Entertainment. The film is produced by Surya and Jyothika.

Tamil actor Suriya released Aditi’s look from the movie in his social media and welcomed her to the Tamil film industry. He tweeted – ‘A very warm welcome to Aditi Shankar! You are going to win everyone’s heart! God bless!!’

The shooting will start from September 18 in Theni. Along with Karthi and Aditi, other prominent actors of South Indian cinema Raj Kiran, Prakash Raj and Soori will also be part of the movie. The film will be an emotional action entertainer set in a rural setting.

Aishwarya Lekshmi’s ‘Archana 31 Not Out’ new poster released!

The new poster of the movie ‘Archana 31 Not Out’ presented by Martin Prakat Films, directed by Akhil Anil Kumar and produced by Sibi Chavara and Ranjith Nair has been released.

Aishwarya Lekshmi, on her birthday last day, shared the poster of her in ‘Archana 31 Not Out’ on her social media page saying that the poster was a surprise gift from team ‘Archana 31 Not Out’; and the teaser of the movie would be released this weekend. She also said “Thank You boys! Can’t wait to show all of you what we have been working on…. Also, thank you for all the outpouring of love coming my way today … Cannot imagine what I have done right in my life to be receiving ivalo love Nandriiiiii”. Her colleagues and fans were complimenting her over the post.

The film is about a young primary school teacher in Palakkad, who has gone through 31 ‘pennu kaanal’ functions. It’s a female-orientated feel-good movie. “Aishwarya Lekshmi was pretty enthusiastic to do it as soon as I narrated the story to her,” says Akhil Anil Kumar. Shankar’s big budget movie ‘RC15’ starring Ram Charan has started filming today. Famous Malayalam actor Jayaram is also playing an important role in this movie. As per the reports, Jayaram is set to play a negative character in the film.

‘Minnal Murali’ coming soon; Netflix with official announcement

‘Minnal Murali’, a much awaited film which was expected to release sometime by the end of this year. Though the makers were keen to release the film first in theatres, the uncertainty regarding when the pandemic situation gets better and things return to normalcy have forced them to opt for a direct OTT release.

The short teaser released by Netflix with the announcement ‘striking soon on Netflix’ on Twitter confirms that the movie is a direct OTT release. But the release date has not yet been announced except they mentioned ‘Coming Soon’. Trade analysts commented that the decision on ‘Minnal Murali’ by Netflix was due to the overwhelming response ‘Kala’ received on Amazon Prime after its theatrical release.

‘Minnal Murali’, produced by Sofia Paul under the banner of Weekend Blockbusters, directed by Basil Joseph, will be released in 5 languages – Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi. Tovino Thomas and Basil Joseph are coming together in this movie after ‘Godha’. As the first superhero film in Malayalam, it is also the biggest budget film of Tovino’s career.

Tamil actor Guru Somasundaram, who has acted in films like Jigarthanda and Joker, also plays an important role in the film. Aju Varghese, Baiju, Harishree Ashokan and Femina George also play the lead roles. The film is written by Arun Anirudhan and Justin Mathew.

Mahesh Narayanan is now in Bollywood!

Renowned Malayalam editor and director Mahesh Narayanan is all set to make his Bollywood film debut. Mahesh Narayanan, who has directed Take Off, See You Soon and Malik in Malayalam, is now planning another Malayalam film starring Kunchacko Boban.

Mahesh Narayanan is coming to Bollywood with a movie called Phantom Hospital. Preity Zinta, who has produced super hit Hindi films like Talwar, Razi and Badai Ho, is all set to make a thriller about exploitation in health sector.

Aakash Mohiman and Mahesh Narayanan are scripting the movie. Writer and journalist Josie Joseph will co-produce the film. Reports suggest that the film will be based on the findings of Josie Joseph’s study of shocking exploitation in the health sector.

Details about the cast of the film will be released soon. A few days back, world star Kamal Hasan had revealed that he was also planning to write a screenplay for Mahesh Narayanan.

In any case, the Bollywood movie and the Malayalam movie starring Kunchacko Boban are definitely new projects that Mahesh is going to prepare. Both See You Soon and Malik, which came out after the super hit debut film Take Off, were OTT release.
