Mohanlal–Sreekumar Menon combo again after Odiyan!

Odiyan, starring the Complete Actor Mohanlal, released in December 2018 that reached the biggest hype ever seen in Malayalam cinema was directed by shrikumar menon. However, the film did not live up to expectations and the director Shrikumar Menon was attacked on social media. But despite the negative reports Odian still holds the record for the largest first day collection Malayalam film.

Shrikumar Menon is all set to make a comeback after facing huge criticism anyway, with a Hindi film titled Mission Konkan. It is rumored that Mohanlal will be making a guest appearance in the film, which will star Bollywood stars. According to reports, Mohanlal will play a Khalasi character in the film which will last for half an hour.

The film also stars Bollywood actor Randeep Hooda and will be produced in Malayalam and other languages. The film is written by TD Ramakrishnan, who was famous for his novels like Francis Ittikora, Andal Devanayaki Sugandhi and Mama Africa and was the Chief Comptroller of Railways.

The film is expected to be produced by Fox Star Studios.

In a press release issued by Compass Movies, it is said that the history of Kunjahammad Haji and the Malabar Revolution will be presented in a beautiful way and the film will be prepared in two parts.

Ashiq Abu’s ‘Vaariyamkunnan’ was announced in June 2020. Prithviraj and others were subjected to a massive cyber-attack in the name of the film. As an end to the controversy Ashiq Abu and Prithviraj explained that they withdrew from the film due to differences of opinion.

 ‘The official response of Compass Movies to the media coverage of the movie Vaariyamkunnan states that they started this project knowing all the controversies and challenges they would face as it’s the story of Kunjahammed Haji, a revolutionary.

 Artistic sense of responsibility is as relevant as political responsibility when it is presented as a film. It was with that firm conviction that we came to the conclusion that this project should be realized with the artistic quality and technicality it deserves. To this end, the project has entered into agreements with the best technicians and stars in India at various stages. It was on this note the official announcement of the film comes from such a possible combination on June 22, 2020.

 Subsequently, due to some unfortunate circumstances, Ashiq Abu and Prithviraj had to stay away from the announced project. But now that the news and speculations are rife in the media, this post is meant to allay concerns about the future of the film.

Compass Movies is working on Vaariyamkunnan to bring its best art to the global film world. The history of Kunjahammad Haji and the Malabar Revolution will be presented in a beautiful way and the film will be prepared in two parts. Will announce the details about the cast and crew later.’

The film is being produced by Sikander and Moideen under the banner of Compass Movies. Ramis was one of the screenwriters of the film, but dropped out of the project due to his political and personal views. After that, Ashiq and Prithviraj decide to leave the project. Harshad is another screenwriter of the film.

Malayalam superstar Fahadh Faasil as Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat, an IPS officer in Telugu film ‘Pushpa -the rise’, directed by Sukumar. Fahadh Faasil will be playing the role of a villain. First look poster released by the makers was jaw dropping as he is seen with a look that promises an antagonist like never before. His menacing bald look sure has raised expectations to the fans.

Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna will be playing the lead roles in the movie. Director Sukumar made his directorial debut in Rangasthalam, Arya and other movies in Telugu. The Allu Arjun movie will also be released in Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi.

Controversy ends: Aashiq Abu and Prithviraj withdraw from ‘Vaariyamkunnan’

Director Aashiq Abu and actor Prithviraj have pulled out of the controversial film ‘Vaariamkunnan’ which was based on the 1921 Malabar Rebellion. The explanation given was that the reason for the withdrawal was a disagreement with the producers. Prithviraj and others were subjected to a massive cyber-attack in the name of the film. In June 2020, Aashiq Abu announced the film ‘Vaariyamkunnan’.

Earlier, Ramiz, one of the screenwriters of the film, had dropped out of the project. Aashiq Abu said at the time that Rameez was withdrawing from the film due to his political and personal views. The film was intended to tell the story of Vaariamkunnath Kunjahammad Haji, who played an important role in the Malabar Revolution of 1921. The filming was about to begin in 2021, as it was the 100th anniversary of the Malabar Revolution, before it was called off.

MT Vasudevan Nair, the pride of Malayalam, is one of the legendary writers in the Indian literary world. All of his literary works and films have survived through the ages. Now, an anthology of six stories written by MT Vasudevan Nair is being prepared.

These six stories will be written by six prominent Malayalam directors. One of them is Priyadarshan, the master director of Malayalam. It is reportedly being made by OTT giant Netflix.  This is the first time Priyadarshan is doing a film with a screenplay by MT Vasudevan Nair. Priyadarshan is making a film based on the story of his Shilalikhitham.

Famous actor Biju Menon will play the lead role in this movie. This will be Biju Menon’s first Priyadarshan movie and MT movie. Priyadarshan says that MT has handed over the script to him and he is going to fulfill his biggest dream.

In addition to this, there are reports that Santosh Sivan is preparing the story of MT’s Abhayam in which actor Siddique will play the lead role. It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post. The names of Shyamaprasad and Ranjith are being heard now. The shooting of these films will start after the Covid restrictions are changed.

First look poster of the movie Mary Awas Suno in which Manju Warrier and Jayasurya team up for the first time’s first look poster was released.After Captain and Vellam, Prajesh Sen and Jayasurya will reunite in Mary Awas Suno. The poster shows Jayasurya and Manju bursting out together.

Jayasurya will be playing the role of a radio jockey in Mary Awas Suno and Manju Warrier’s character is a doctor. Sivada along with Johnny Antony, Gautami Nair, Sohan Seenulal, Sudhir Karamana, G Suresh Kumar, Devi Ajith and Mithun AE is playing the lead roles. Leading directors Shyama Prasad and Shaji Kailas will make guest appearances.

The film is set in Thiruvananthapuram and is shot by Vinod Illampally. Music composition was by M Jayachandran with lyrics by BK Harinarayan. Under the banner of Universal Cinema, the film is Produced by B. Rakesh and co-produced by Vijayakumar Palakkunnu and Ann Sariga.

After the huge success of Neram and Premam, it was reported that super hit director Alphonse Puthran is going to direct a film starring Prithviraj Sukumaran. Though the film has not been officially announced to start shooting in September, it has been confirmed by Prithviraj Sukumaran.

Tamil lady superstar Nayanthara is the lead role and is produced by Prithviraj Sukumaran and Listin Stephen under the banner of Magic Frames. There are indications that this is a mass film set in a rural setting. According to reports circulating on social media, the film has been titled as ‘Gold’.

Actor Ajmal Ameer, who plays a major role in the film, revealed this in an online interview. After making his Malayalam film debut, Ajmal Ameer gained a lot of attention with his performance in Tamil. In Malayalam, Ajmal Ameer starred in Pranayakalam and in Madampi with Mohanlal.

Prithviraj is currently busy with Bro Daddy starring Mohanlal. It is rumored that Prithviraj will join Alphonse Puthran in the film after the completion of the film. The official announcement of the film will be made soon. Alphonse Puthran is doing this project instead of Fahad Fasil’s movie Pattu.

Master director Joshiy’s upcoming big budget film; starring Jayasurya!

Actor Jayasurya, who celebrated his birthday on August 31, made an announcement about his upcoming huge project as a birthday present to the fans. He is the hero of the next big budget film to be directed by Malayalam senior director Joshiy.

Nishad Koya is scripting the movie. Producer Venu Kunnappilly, who made his Malayalam debut with megastar Mammootty’s Maamangkam, is all set to produce this Joshi-Jayasurya film under his banner Kavya Films. Jayasurya’s upcoming films include Ranjith Shankar’s Sunny, Nadirsha’s Isho and Prajesh Sen’s Mary Awas Suno.

Jayasurya will also be seen in Gokulam Gopalan’s big budget film Kathanar, under the banner of Gokulam Movies, Aadu 3, John Luther and RamaSethu, produced by Friday Film House and directed by Mithun Manuel Thomas.

Joshiy is currently working on a big budget film titled Pappan starring Suresh Gopi. According to reports, Joshi also has dates with Mohanlal, Mammootty and Dileep.

Earlier, it was reported that On Air Eepan with Dileep, Wayanadan Thampan with Mohanlal were the upcoming projects of Joshiy. Joshiy made his comeback after a hiatus with his super hit film Porinchu Mariam Jose.

Babu Antony had recently informed that he is playing an important character in Mani Ratnam’s ‘Ponniyin Selvan’. The film boasts of one of the biggest star cast ever in Indian cinema with actors from various industries in it. Babu Antony will be seen playing an ancient king in the film. The last time he played a similar role was in Bharathan’s ‘Vaisali’, which got released back in 1988. In ‘Ponniyin Selvan’, he essays a character named Kotikan. It is learnt that he will be present in both the parts of the film. This is his second outing with Mani Ratnam after the 1990-released film ‘Anjali’.

‘Ponniyin Selvan’ cast comprises of names like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Vikram, Trisha, Karthi, Vikram Prabhu, Parthiban, Sobhita Dhulipala, Jayaram, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Lal, Rahman, Jayam Ravi, Prakash Raj, Sarath Kumar, Prabhu, Kishore and Ashwin Kakumanu.

‘Ponniyin Selvan’ is based on the historical Tamil novel of the same name written by Kalki Krishnamurthy. Director Mani Ratnam has adapted the screenplay along with Jeyamohan and Kumaravel. Music is by AR Rahman and Ravi Varman wields the camera.
