Dulquer Salmaan is super excited to be part of Balki’s next

Dulquer Salmaan is doing a new Hindi film with director R Balki. The film also stars Pooja Bhatt, ‘Scam 1992’ fame Shreya Dhanwanthary and Sunny Deol in major roles. Dulquer is very thrilled about the project as he made by the official announcement by tweeting,

Super excited to be a part of the wonderful R. Balki next with an all time fav superstar Sunny Deol sir, the lovely and timeless Pooja Bhatt maam and the super talented Shreya Dhanwanthary ! Blessed to work with these incredible artists. Cannot wait to start filming !

R Balki, who is known for helming National award winning films like ‘Paa’ and ‘Padman’, is attempting a psychological thriller for the first time. He has scripted the film along with Rishi Virmani and Raja Sen. Veteran cinematographer PC Sreeram, who was the DOP all of Balki’s films so far, has been retained for this one as well. Full fledged shoot is expected to begin soon.

Samantha pens an emotional note of gratitude as she wraps up Shaakuntalam!

Samantha is playing the lead in a new pan-Indian film titled ‘Shakuntalam’. The film is directed by Gunasekhar, who has made popular Telugu films like ‘Okkadu’ and ‘Rudhramadevi’. It is the screen adaptation of Kalidasa’s epic Sanskrit play, Abhijnana Shakuntalam. Samantha has wrapped up her portions for the fantasy drama.

The actress has penned an emotional note of gratitude in her social media handle. According to Samantha, the film has exceeded her expectations. She has written,

“And it’s a wrap on Shaakuntalam !! This film will stay with me for the rest of my life .As a little girl I believed in fairy tales .. not much has changed.I still do ….and @Gunasekhar1 sir my fairy godfather for making my dream a reality .

When he narrated this film to me I was immediately transported to a most beautiful world .. the world of Shaakuntalam.. a world like no other. But I was nervous and scared.Was it possible for us to create such beauty on celluloid.??

Today as I say my goodbyes, I have such an immense feeling of love and gratitude,to this absolutely incredible human @gunasekhar1 sir , for he has created a world that has exceeded all my expectations . The inner child in me is dancing with joy. Thank you sir”.

‘Shaakuntalam’ explores the love story of King Dushyantha and Shakuntala, the daughter of sage Vishwamitra and apsara Menaka.
Malayalam actor Dev Mohan of ‘Sufiyum Sujathayum’ fame plays the male lead character Dushyantha.

This ambitious film is produced by Neelima Guna and has music scored by Mani Sharma.

Nayanthara’s new film ‘Netrikann’ has started streaming on Disney+Hotstar. Besides the original Tamil version, the film is available on Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. Directed by Milind Rau of ‘Aval’ fame, the film promises to be a gripping thriller.

Nayanthara’s character in ‘Netrikann’ is a blind person who has developed other special skills. The story is about her hunt for a cold-blooded criminal who kidnaps and tortures young women. Ajmal plays the antagonist’s role.

‘Netrikann’ is reportedly the official remake of ‘Blind’, a popular Korean thriller film. Its story is about a talented woman cadet at the police academy who loses her eye sight after a horrific car accident. Years later, she solves a murder case with the help of her dog and her strong skills in detecting senses.

‘Netrikann’ has cinematography by RD Rajasekhar, music by Girishh Gopalakrishnan and edits by Lawrence Kishore. Nayanthara’s boyfriend and filmmaker Vignesh Shivan is producing the film under the banner of Rowdy Pictures Pvt Ltd.

Of late, Vijay Sethupathi has been open to doing films from any languages. Besides his home turf Tamil, he is busy acting in Malayalam, Telugu and Hindi cinema. In Telugu, the actor has already done notable roles in ‘Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy’ and ‘Uppena’. He was also offered the villain role in Allu Arjun’s ‘Pushpa’ but he could not take it up due to his other commitments.

Latest buzz is that Vijay Sethupathi has been approached to play the antagonist role in Nandamuri Balakrishna’s new film directed by Gopichand Malineni. The film touted to be a mass entertainer is produced by Mythri Movie Makers. Tamil actress Varalaxmi Sarath Kumar has already been roped in for a prominent role. It is learnt that Vijay Sethupathi is yet to sign the dotted lines as he is still trying to accommodate the dates. An official confirmation is expected soon.

Vijay Sethupathi is currently in Mumbai shooting for his maiden web series helmed by Raj and DK, the directors of Amazon Prime’s hit show ‘The Family Man’. This upcoming series also stars Shahid Kapoor and Raashi Khanna as the leads.

First single from Allu Arjun’s Pushpa released

As announced earlier, the first single from Allu Arjun-starrer ‘Pushpa’ has been released online. The song is out five languages. Popular playback singers Vishal Dadlani (Hindi), Benny Dayal (Tamil), Vijay Prakash (Kannada), Shivam (Telugu) and Rahul Nambiar (Malayalam) have lent their vocals in each language. Devi Sri Prasad has composed the song.

‘Pushpa’ written and directed by Sukumar is a big-scale action packed entertainer. As is evident from the teaser, the film revolves around the smuggling of red sanders in the Tamil Nadu-Andhra Pradesh border.

Malayalam star Fahadh Faasil is making his Telugu debut by playing the villain role in this film. While Allu Arjun plays a lorry driver, Fahadh is said to be essaying the role of a corrupt police officer. The clash between the two stars is expected to the film’s major highlight. Rashmika Mandanna, Prakash Raj, Harish Uttaman, Anasuya, Jagapathi Babu and many others are part of the cast.

The film’s first part ‘Pushpa: The Rise’ will be hitting screens in December.

Parthiban to direct Abhishek Bachchan in Oththa Seruppu remake

Tamil actor-filmmaker Parthiban’s most recent film ‘Oththa Seruppu Size 7’ is set to be remade in Hindi. Abhishek Bachchan will be starring in the film with Parthiban wearing the director’s hat. The film’s official launch was held last day in Chennai.

Parthiban is known for his brave experiments in filmmaking. ‘Otha Seruppu Size 7’ is a thriller with a single actor in it. He produced, wrote, directed played the lead in the film. It entered the Asia Book of Records and India Book of Records for having a single person writing, directing, solo acting and producing a film. It premiered at the Singapore South Asian Film Festival. Upon its theatrical release, the film garnered largely positive reviews. It won a couple of awards at the National level — Sound Mixing (Resul Pookutty) and Special Jury Award for Parthiban.

Parthiban had earlier the film’s Hindi remake with Nawazuddin Siddiqui. However, he got replaced by Abhishek Bachchan and the reason for the same is not yet known.

PR Sreejesh continues to get adulation from all corners. The goalkeeper of Indian men’s hockey team that won bronze medal in Tokyo Olympics, returned back to Kerala on Tuesday. Ever since then, Sreejesh has been getting calls and visits from some of the biggest names of the State.

Malayalam cinema superstar Mohanlal called Sreejesh over phone and and congratulated him on his historic achievement. In the audio conversation, Mohanlal is heard saying how everyone is proud of Sreejesh. The star also added that he is hoping to meet him soon.

Earlier in the day, the other big M, Mammootty made a surprise visit to Sreejesh’s house at Kizhakkambalam in Ernakulam district. He was accompanied by film producer Anto Joseph and production controller Badusha. Photos of their visit have been shared in social medias.

On his return back from Tokyo, Sreejesh was received by V Abdurahiman, Minister for Sports and representatives from State Sports Council, Olympic Association and Hockey Association. He is the first Malayali to win an Olympic medal in 49 years. Last day, the Kerala government announced a cash reward of Rs 2 crore and a job promotion for Sreejesh. The Kerala cabinet has decided to promote him as the Joint Director in the Department of General and Higher Education. He is currently serving as a Deputy Director

Buzz is that actor Sivakarthikeyan will be penning song lyrics in ‘Beast’. It is worth a mention here that the actor is very close to director Nelson.
