Prithviraj’s Bhramam teaser released

‘Bhramam’, the Malayalam remake of acclaimed Hindi film ‘Andhadhun’, is gearing up for release. The film is set to have its premiere on Amazon Prime Video on October 7.

Meanwhile, the makers have released a short teaser. Going by it, ‘Bhramam’ looks like a faithful remake of ‘Andhadhun’ with Prithviraj reprising the lead character played by Ayushmann Khuranna in the original.

Ravi K Chandran is directing the film. Sarath Balan has adapted the script to suit the Malayali audience. Unni Mukundan essays the cop’s part done by Manav Vij. Mamta Mohandas and Raashi Khanna are the two female leads. Others in the cast include Jagadheesh, Shine Ton Chacko, Surabhi Lakshmi and Ananya.

Earlier this month, ‘Maestro’, the Telugu remake of ‘Andhadhun’ got released. Starring, Nithiin Tamannaah and Nabha Natesh as the leads, the film premiered on Disney + Hotstar.

There is also a Tamil version in the making. Titled ‘Andhagan’, it has Prashanth, Simran, Priya Anand and Samuthirakani in major roles.

Ajagajantharam confirms Pooja release

‘Ajagajantharam’ has seen multiple delays in release due to the pandemic. The makers had initially planned to release it on May 28, but had to postpone it due to the second wave. As the situation is getting better now and there are talks about theatres reopening in Kerala, it has been confirmed that the film will be releasing next month during the Pooja holidays. It will be releasing in over 300 screens across the state.

‘Ajagajantharam’ is an action packed entertainer set in the backdrop of a temple festival. The film is directed by ‘Swathanthryam Ardharathriyil’ fame Tinu Pappachan. ‘Angamaly Diaries’ (AD) actors Vineeth Viswam and Kichu Tellus have scripted the film.

Antony Varghese reportedly plays the lead role of a mahout in the film. Arjun Ashokan, Lukman, Kichu Tellus, Sudhi Koppa and Vineeth Viswam will be seen essaying other major roles. The film has Jinto George as the cinematographer, Justin Varghese as the music director and Shameer Muhammed as the editor.

Emmanuel Joseph and Ajith Thalapilly are jointly producing the film under the banner of Silver Bay Studios.

Shoot wrapped up for Jis Joy’s upcoming multi-starrer

We had earlier reported about Jis Joy helming a new film with Asif Ali, ‘Angamaly Diaries’ fame Antony Varghese, Nimisha Sajayan and ‘Bigil’ actress Reba Monica John. Its shoot has been wrapped up. The director had shared photos from the last day’s shoot in his social media handle.

This is Jis Joy’s fourth film with Asif Ali after ‘Bicycle Thieves’, ‘Sunday Holiday’ and ‘Vijay Superum Pournamiyum’. The last two films were commercially successful and made the director popular among the masses.

Jis Joy films are usually known to be feel-good entertainers. However, the new film is said to be a thriller. Bobby-Sanjay duo is scripting it. Since is the first time the director is attempting a thriller, there is an added expectation on the film.

Siddique, Rony David Raj, Athulya Chandra, and Sreelekshmi and a few others are part of the cast. Central Pictures is producing the film, which is yet to be titled.

Siddique plays the villain role in Simbu’s Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu

As reported earlier, Simbu and Gautham Vasudev Menon are teaming up for a new film titled ‘Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu’. Malayalam actor Siddique plays the villain role in the film. In a recent interview, the veteran actor revealed that Gautham Menon had called him after being impressed with his performance in ‘Sufiyum Sujathayum’. During the conversation, Menon expressed his wish to work with Siddique. Eventually, the director got him for the antagonist role in Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu’. He plays a Malayali character named Kunjukrishnan in the film.

‘Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu’ promises to be a completely different film from Gautham Menon’s usual works. Its first look poster had Simbu in a stunning makeover as the actor shed close to 15 kgs for the role. Written by Jeyamohan, the film tells the lives of local goons.

AR Rahman is composing music for the film and cinematography is by ‘Lucia’ fame Siddhartha Nuni.

Nikhila Vimal, Mathew Thomas and Naslen to lead Jo & Jo

Nikhila Vimal and ‘Thanneer Mathan Dhinangal’ actors Mathew Thomas and Naslen have been signed to play the lead roles in a new film titled ‘Jo & Jo’. Debutant Arun D Jose is directing the film and its shoot kick-started last day in Koothattukulam. Imagine Cinemas and Signature Studios are jointly producing the film.

‘Jo & Jo’ is scripted by director Arun D Jose and Raveesh Nath. From the title poster, the film looks like a feel-good fun entertainer. Johny Antony and ‘Operation Java’ fame Sminu Sijo are also part of the cast. The film has music by Govind Vasanatha and Chaman Chakko handles the edits. Ansar Shah cranks the camera. More details regarding the project are awaited.

Mathew, on the other hand, has ‘Prakashan Parakkatte’ and ‘Vishudha Mejo’ in his kitty.

Naslen, who earned praise for his performances in ‘Kuruthi’ and ‘Home’, will be next seen in ‘Pathrosinte Padappukal’. He is also playing the role of Dilieep’s son in ‘Keshu Ee Veedinte Nathan’.

Veekam: Dhyan Sreenivasan, Aju Varghese and others team up for a thriller

Last day, a new Malayalam film titled Veekam got announced. Dhyan Sreenivasan, Aju Varghese, Siddique, Sheelu Abraham, Dinesh Prabhakar, Dain Davis and Dayana Hameed will be playing the lead roles in the film. Touted to be a crime in investigative thriller, it is written and directed by Sagar. The director has earlier made a film named Kumbarees. Last month, he had announced another film with Dhyan titled ‘Sathyam Mathrame Bodhipikku’.

Actors Manju Warrier, Kunchacko Boban and Unni Mukundan made the official announcement of ‘Veekam’ through their respective social media handles. A title poster introducing the crew members has been released.

Dhanesh Raveendranath will be cranking the camera and music department will be handled by William Fransis. Hareesh Mohan is the editor. Sheelu Abraham is producing under the banner of Abaam Movies. Shoot is being planned to begin from October.

Boney Kapoor’s Bayview Projects LLP and Zee Studios are jointly producing the film. The makers have confirmed that the film will be hitting screens for Pongal next year. There are reports about Vijay’s ‘Beast’ also planning a Pongal release. In that case, a huge clash awaits at the Tamil Nadu box office.

The makers of Ajith starrer ‘Valimai’ have announced that the film will be hitting screens for Pongal next year. Though there were speculations about the film getting ready for Deepavali release, the makers have pushed it further hoping that the pandemic situation subsides by then. If reports are to be believed, Vijay’s ‘Beast’ is also planning a Pongal release. In that case, a huge box office clash is on cards.

The makers of ‘Bheeshma Parvam’ have successfully wrapped up the shoot. Directed by Amal Neerad, the film has Mammootty playing the lead character. Along with him, there is a huge ensemble comprising of actors like Soubin Shahir, Farhaan Faasil, ‘Kettyolaan Ente Malakha’ fame Veena Nandakumar, Shine Tom Chacko, Sreenath Bhasi, Nadiya Moidu, ‘Rangasthalam’ fame Anasuya, Maala Parvathy and Lena.

‘Bheeshma Parvam’ is a gangster flick in which Mammootty plays a larger-than-life mass character. Newcomer Devadath Shaji has scripted the film along with Amal Neerad. Expectations are humongous as Mammootty and Amal Neerad are teaming up after a 14-year-long gap. Their last film ‘Big B’ has a cult status among Malayalam movie lovers.

‘Bheeshma Parvam’ has Anend C Chandran of ‘Premam’ fame as the DOP and Sushin Shyam as the composer. Amal Neerad himself is producing the film.

It is already known that Vikram and his son Dhruv are acting together in ‘Mahaan’, directed by Karthik Subbaraj. Some new stills from the film have been released online. In one of the photos, Vikram and Dhruv are seen facing off each other. It is learnt that the two play a father-son duo in the film as well. While Vikram plays the titular role, Dhruv’s character is named as Dada.

‘Mahaan’ is said to be a gangster thriller that’s high on action. The film also stars Simran, Bobby Simha and ‘Oh My Kadavule’ fame Vani Bhojan in major roles. Santhosh Narayanan is composing the music. Last day, the makers released the first single ‘Soorayattam’ and it got good response from music lovers.

‘Mahaan’ has cinematography by Shreyaas Krishna and edits handled by Vivek Harshan. It is produced by Lalit Kumar under the banner of Seven Screen Studio.
