Superhit Malayalam film ‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’ is being remade in Telugu with Pawan Kalyan and Rana Daggubati as the leads. Saagar K Chandra, who has helmed films like ‘Ayyare’ and ‘Appatlo Okkadundevadu’, is directing the remake version, which is yet-to-be titled. Sithara Entertainments, one of the leading banners in Telugu industry, is producing the film.

A making video of the film has been released online. Pawan Kalyan’s majestic walk in the cop uniform is the highlight of this 51-second video. He plays a character named Bheemla Nayak. He is reprising the character done by Biju Menon in the original. Prithviraj’s character is essayed by Rana Daggubati.

‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’ directed by Sachy is about a raging conflict fulled by a battle of egos between a policeman and a retired havildar. Hit filmmaker Trivikram Srinivas has adapted the Telugu version’s screenplay and dialogues. Ravi K Chandran is the cinematographer and Thaman S is composing the music.

T-Series and Lahari Music bag RRR audio rights for a record price; First single to be out on August 1

The first single from SS Rajamouli’s ‘RRR’ will be out on August 1. MM Keeravaani has composed the song, which will be released in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi. The song lyrics is penned by Madhan Karky (Tamil), Riya Mukherjee (Hindi), Sirivennela Sitaramasastri (Telugu). It is sung by Hema Chandra (Telugu), Anirudh (Tamil), Vijay Yesudas (Malayalam), Amit Trivedi (Hindi) and Yazin Nizar (Kannada).

Recently, Bhushan Kumar’s T Series and Lahari Music had acquired the music rights of ‘RRR’ for all languages (Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam). It is learnt that the total music rights deal for all the languages is worth a whopping Rs 26 crores, which is by far a new all-time audio rights record for any Indian film till date.

‘RRR’ starring Ram Charan and Jr NTR as the leads promises to be an action-packed epic. The film is about two freedom fighters, Alluri Sita Ramaraju and Komaram Bheem who fought against the British Raj and the Nizam of Hyderabad, respectively. Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn, Shriya Saran, Olivia Morris, Ray Stevenson, Alison Doody, Samuthirakani and many others are part of the cast.

The makers have announced October 13, 2021 as the theatrical release

Shoot for Dulquer Salmaan’s ‘Salute’ has been wrapped up. The team completed works with a brief shoot in Ramoji Rao Film City, Hyderabad. Director Rosshan Andrrews has shared a photo from the last day’s shoot in his social media handle. He has also written a note of gratitude which reads,

‘Salute’ promises to be a cop thriller in which Dulquer plays the role of sub-Inspector Aravind Karunakaran. This is the first time the actor is playing a full fledged police role in his career. Expectations are naturally high among the fans.

‘Salute’ is scripted by Bobby and Sanjay. Bollywood actress Diana Penty of ‘Cocktail’ fame plays the female lead. Manoj K Jayan, Saniya Iyappan, Lakshmi Gopalaswamy, Alencier Ley Lopez, Binu Pappu and Vijay Kumar are essaying other prominent roles.

The trailer of Netflix’s ambitious anthology ‘Navarasa’ has dropped in. It is a compilation of 9 films and each one is based on a particular ‘rasa’ or emotion. The trailer has snippets from all the 9 films and it looks highly promising.

Arvind Swami, Bejoy Nambiar, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Karthick Naren, Karthik Subbaraj, Priyadarshan, Rathindran R Prasad, Sarjun KM, and Vasanth S Sai are directing a segment each in ‘Navarasa’. The star includes popular actors like Suriya, Prayaga Martin, Arvind Swami, Vijay Sethupathi, Parvathy Thiruvoth, Revathy, Prasanna, Prakash Raj, Nithya Menen, Ashok Selvan, Aishwarya Rajesh, Poorna, Rythvika, Bobby Simha, Nedumudi Venu, Yogi Babu, Manikuttan, Rohini, Delhi Ganesh, Remya Nambeesan, Aditi Balan, Atharvaa, Anjali and Kishore. They have all collaborated to contribute the proceeds from the films towards the well-being of industry workers in Tamil cinema impacted by the pandemic.

‘Navarasa’ is produced and presented by Mani Ratnam and Jayendra Panchapakesan. It is scheduled to have its world premiere on August 6.

Mohanlal to shed around 15 kgs for his boxing film with Priyadarshan

It has been a while since reports emerged that Mohanlal and director Priyadarshan are coming together for a new boxing film. The actor-director combo has already worked together in 29 films and many of them have turned out to be memorable. This is their first attempt in doing a sports film and expectations are naturally high.

In a recent interview, Priyadarshan revealed that Mohanlal will be going through a major physical transformation for this film. He will be shedding close to 15 kgs and then put on weight as the character demands it. According to Priyadarshan, it is the story of a boxer, his rise to fame and then his fall.

The veteran director who has always been fascinated by Martin Scorsese’s 1980-released classic ‘Raging Bull’ says that this new film will be our own ‘Raging Bull’. More details regarding when the makers are planning to begin shoot are not yet known.

Karthick Naren has scripted the film with additional screenplay and dialogues by Malayali scenarists Suhas-Sharafu of ‘Varathan’ fame and lyricist Vivek. Malavika Mohanan is the female lead. Unconfirmed reports suggest that Dhanush and Malavika play investigative journalists in the film.

‘Thadam’ fame Smruthi Venkat, ‘Soorarai Pottru’ fame Krishna Kumar, Mahendran and Samuthirakani are also part of the supporting cast. GV Prakash Kumar is composing the music and cinematography is by Vivekanand Santhosham. The film is produced jointly by Sendhil Thyagarajan and Arjun Thyagarajan under the banner of Sathya Jyothi Films.

Shoot for Vineeth Sreenivasan-Pranav Mohanalal film ‘Hridayam’ got wrapped up recently. Though the makers had completed almost all the portions in March itself, they still had a song portion left, which they finally shot last week. ‘Hridayam’ shoot seems to have been real fun as is evident from a video that Vineeth has shared in his social media handle. It has Vineeth along with Pranav Mohanlal jamming together for ‘Pichle Saat Dinon Mein’, a popular track from the 2008-released musical ‘Rock On’. While Vineeth croons the track with full energy, Pranav along with another person is seen playing the guitar.

Just like ‘Rock On’, ‘Hridayam’ also promises to be a full-fledged musical entertainer. The film has a total of 15 tracks. Actor Prithviraj and veteran singers like Srinivas, KS Chithra, Unni Menon and many others have lent their vocals. Hesham Abdul Wahab handles the music department.

The makers of ‘Hridayam’ are also bringing back the golden era of music listening by releasing the songs in audio cassette (limited edition) and CD format. Think Music has acquired the rights.

Glimpse of Lieutenant Ram out on Dulquer Salmaan’s birthday

As it is Dulquer Salmaan’s birthday today, the makers of his new Telugu film have released a special poster and a video featuring him as the lead character, Lieutenant Ram. Directed by Hanu Raghavapudi of ‘Padi Padi Leche Manasu’ fame, the film will be released in Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam. Swapna Cinema is producing the film and Priyanka Dutt of Vyjayanthi Movies will be presenting it.

This yet-to-be titled film is a romantic period drama set in the 1960s. Dulquer plays the role of an army officer named Lieutenant Ram in it. Earlier in April, the actor was shooting in Kashmir when the pandemic second wave escalated. They resumed works only recently.

Sharing the birthday special poster in his social media handle, Dulquer has written,

Thank you for the lovely surprise you guys. Here’s a poster of my next Telugu project with Hanu Raghavapudi.

The makers are in talks with some leading Bollywood actresses to play the female lead’s role in the film. It has music scored by Vishal Chandrashekhar and cinematography by PS Vinod

Director Lokesh Kanagaraj’s ‘Vikram’ is a highly exciting film, mainly due to the star-studded cast. While Kamal Haasan plays the main lead, the film also has two other extremely talented actors, Fahadh Faasil and Vijay Sethupathi, in equally important roles. ‘Kaithi’ fame Arjun Das and Narain are also confirmed in the cast.

Latest buzz is that Malayali actor Kalidas Jayaram is also a part of the film. Earlier, it was reported that ‘Angamaly Diaries’ star Antony Varghese will be playing a crucial role in ‘Vikram’. If news about Kalidas is true, he might have replaced Antony. An official word is still awaited.

It is worth a mention here that Kalidas Jayaram has previously acted with Kamal Haasan. The latter played a cameo role in ‘Meen Kuzhambum Mann Paanaiyum’, Kalidas’ debut film as a lead actor. Of late, the youngster has done some impressive films in Tamil. His performances in the anthologies ‘Putham Pudhu Kaalai’ and ‘Paava Kadhaigal’ got praised by many.

Meanwhile, ‘Vikram’ shoot is progressing with a limited crew following all the Covid protocols. Kamal Haasan’s own banner Raaj Kamal Film International (RKFI) is producing the film.
