Official: Girish Gangadharan is the cinematographer of Kamal Haasan’s Vikram

Director Lokesh Kanagaraj’s new film ‘Vikram’ starring Kamal Haasan is getting ready to go on floors shortly. The makers are currently finalizing the cast and crew. Last day Lokesh put up a post welcoming cinematographer Girish Gangadharan on board. He also informed that casting updates will be out soon.

Initially, Lokesh had retained Sathyan Sooryan, with whom he has worked in ‘Kaithi’ and ‘Master’, as the DOP of ‘Vikram’. He had even shot the film’s teaser. Sathyan later had to opt as he got busy with some other projects.

Girish Gangadharan is well known for his works in Malayalam cinema. He recently won the National award for his stunning work in ‘Jallikattu’. He had made his Tamil debut in 2018 with the Vijay starrer ‘Sarkar’.

‘Vikram’ is a highly anticipated film as Kamal Haasan is doing a proper mass entertainer after a very long time. His own production house is backing the film. Malayalam actor Fahadh Faasil and Narain have already been confirmed in the cast. Music director Anirudh Ravichander and action choreographers AnbAriv are also on board.

Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao announce divorce; Release a joint statement

Bollywood superstar Aamit Khan and his filmmaker wife Kiran Rao have announced their separation. They have released a joint statement in which it is mentioned that they have taken the decision mutually and will be co-parenting their son Azad Rao Khan. They will also continue to work as collaborators on films, Paani Foundation, and other projects that they both feel passionate about.

The statement reads,

“In these 15 beautiful years together we have shared a lifetime of experiences, joy and laughter, and our relationship has only grown in trust, respect and love. Now we would like to begin a new chapter in our lives – no longer as husband and wife, but as co-parents and family for each other. We began a planned separation some time ago, and now feel comfortable to formalise this arrangement, of living separately yet sharing our lives the way an extended family does. We remain devoted parents to our son Azad, who we will nurture and raise together. We will also continue to work as collaborators on films, Paani Foundation, and other projects that we feel passionate about. A big thank you to our families and friends for their constant support and understanding about this evolution in our relationship, and without whom we would not have been so secure in taking this leap. We request our well wishers for good wishes and blessings, and hope that – like us – you will see this divorce not as an end, but as the start of a new journey.

Kiran Rao is Aamir Khan’s second wife. He was earlier married to Reena Dutta but got divorced after 16 years of marriage in 2002. The couple has a daughter Ira and son named Junaid. Aamir met Kiran on the sets of ‘Lagaan’ where she was an Assistant Director. After spending time together, they tied the knot in 2005. The two welcomed their first son Azad in 2011.

Thaman starts composing for Lucifer Telugu remake starring Chiranjeevi

Mohanlal’s blockbuster Malayalam film ‘Lucifer’ is being remade in Telugu with Chiranjeevi as the lead. Tamil filmmaker Mohan Raja of ‘Thani Oruvan’ fame is directing the film, which has been tentatively titled as ‘Chiru 153’. Though the makers were planning to start shoot in April, pandemic second wave forced a change in plans. The film is expected to go on floors once the situation gets better.

Meanwhile, music director S Thaman has started composing works for the film. Last day, he informed the same by sharing a photo taken with director Mohan Raja in his studio. He promised that the he will delivering some quality stuff this time. He has tweeted,

Shooting to start soon

Chiranjeevi’s son Ram Charan had acquired the remake rights of ‘Lucifer’ right after its release. Since the orginal was a huge success and director Mohan Raja is known for successfully remaking several hit films, expectations for ‘Chiru 153’ are on the higher side. The Telugu version is expected to have a few changes from the original, which was directed by Prithviraj. Nayanthara is in talks to reprise Manju Warrier’s role from ‘Lucifer’.

Suriya-Gautham Menon film in Navarasa titled as Guitar Kambi Mele Nindru

Suriya and Gautham Menon are teaming up after years for a segment in the upcoming Netflix anthology ‘Navarasa’. This film is titled as ‘Guitar Kambi Mele Nindru’. Earlier in an interview, Gautham Menon had revealed that the segment is based on a popular Ilaiyaraaja song. Apparently, Menon had sought permission from Ilaiyaraaja before using it in the film. Suriya is said to be playing a musician’s role in it, for which he sports a long-haired look. Malayali actress Prayaga Martin plays the female lead. Ace cinematographer PC Sreeram wields the camera for this film.

‘Navarasa’ is a 9-part anthology film with each segment based on the 9 human emotions or navarasas. It brings together some of the biggest stars and technicians in Tamil cinema. Gautham Menon, Karthik Subbaraj, Karthick Naren, Vasanth, Ponram, Rathindran Prasad, Arvind Swami, Bejoy Nambiar and Halitha Shameem are directing a segment each. The cast includes popular names like Arvind Swami, Vijay Sethupathi, Parvathy Thriuvoth, Revathy, Prakash Raj, Nithya Menen, Ashok Selvan, Aishwarya Rajesh, Poorna, Rythvika, Gautham Karthik, Prasanna, Bobby Simha and Vikranth.

Ratsasan Hindi remake starring Akshay Kumar titled as Mission Cinderella!

Akshay Kumar is set to star in yet another remake film. He will be playing the lead in the Hindi version of blockbuster Tamil film ‘Ratsasan’. Ranjit M Tewari, who is directing Akshay’s soon-to-be released ‘Bell Bottom’, will be helming this film as well. Vashu Bhagnani of Pooja Entertainment is producing it. Reports suggest that the Hindi remake has been titled as ‘Mission Cinderella’.

‘Ratsasan’ starring Vishnu Vishal and Amala Paul is a cop-investigatige thriller. It is written and directed by Ram Kumar. Upon its release in 2018, the film emerged as a huge success, both critically and commercially. The following year, it was remade in Telugu as ‘Rakshasudu’. Bellamkonda Srinivas and Anupama Parameshwaran essayed the lead roles in the film directed by Ramesh Varma.

In ‘Mission Cindrella’, Rakul Preet Singh will be paired opposite Akshay Kumar. The makers are planning to start shoot sometime this year and wrap it up in a small schedule of 35-40 days

Dubbing works done for Soubin Shahir-Lal Jose film Meow

Lal Jose’s new film ‘Meow’ starring Soubin Shahir and Mamta Mohandas as the leads is currently in the post-production phase. Last day, Soubin completed dubbing for the film. Informing the same, the director shared a photo from the dubbing suite in his official social media handle.

‘Meow’ scripted by Dr Iqbal Kuttippuram is majorly set in Dubai.
It is Lal Jose-Iqbal Kuttippuram combo’s fourth film together after delivering hits with ‘Arabikatha’, ‘Diamond Necklace’ and ‘Vikramadithyan’. Interestingly, the first two films were also centered around the lives of Malayalis living in Dubai.

‘Meow’ has Soubin and Mamta Mohandas as a married couple. The story is set in two different timelines of their lives. Along with them, veteran Salim Kumar will also be seen in a major role. Some NRI Malayalis are also acting in the film.

Ajmal Sabu is the cinematographer and veteran Ranjan Abraham has been assigned as the editor. Justin Varghese of ‘Njandukalude Naatil Oridavela’ and ‘Thanneer Mathan Dhinangal’ fame is the music director. The film is produced by Thomas Thiruvalla.

Release date announced for superstar Rajinikanth’s Annaatthe

The makers of Rajinikanth’s ‘Annaatthe’ have reconfirmed that the film will be hitting screens for this year’s Diwali. They have announced November 4, 2021 as the release date. The makers as well as the industry insiders will be hoping that the pandemic situation gets better by then.

Expectations are high on ‘Annaatthe’ for various reasons. It is Rajinikanth’s first outing with director Siva, whose last film ‘Viswasam’ was a mega blockbuster. The same formulaic approach with prominence to family emotions is said to have been retained for this film as well. Even the core technical team of cinematographer Vetri, music director Imman and editor Ruben are retained. Rajinikanth is also doing a full-fledged rural mass entertainer after very long. There is also a star-studded cast comprising of actors like Keerthy Suresh, Meena, Khushbu, Nayanthara, Jagapathi Babu and Prakash Raj. All these factors naturally add up to the hype.

Sanusha started her acting career as a child artist in Dileep’s films like ‘War and Love’, ‘Parakkum Thalika’ and ‘Meesha Madhavan’ and later went on to be paired alongside him in ‘Mr Marumakan’.

Sara’s trailer: Anna Ben-Sunny Wayne starrer promises to be a fun rom-com

Sara’s starring Anna Ben in the titular role is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on July 5. After releasing a couple of song videos, the makers have shared the trailer online. The film revolves around a cheerful and fun loving Sara who works towards her dream of becoming a filmmaker. At one point, she meets Jeevan (Sunny Wayne) with whom she relates on various of her choices, especially the choice of not having a child.

Sara’s directed by Jude Anthany Joseph promises to be a light hearted take on how society and family pressurizes young couples in matters concerning relationships, marriage and pregnancy. Akshay Hareesh has scripted the film.

The cast includes Mallika Sukumaran, Dhanya Varma, Aju Varghese, Srinda, Vijayakumar, Benny P Nayarambalam, Thushara and many others. Vineeth Sreenivasan will also be seen making a guest appearance.

Sara’s is jointly produced by K Murali Dharan and Santha Murali.

Rajamouli shares RRR new poster; Shoot in the final stages!

Director SS Rajamouli has shared a new poster of his upcoming film ‘RRR’ featuring the two leads, Ram Charan and Jr NTR. Along with the poster, the makers also informed that shoot is moving at a rapid pace with only two more songs left to be shot. Ram Charan and Jr NTR have also completed dubbing for 2 languages and will wind up the rest soon.

‘RRR’ is a mega-budget project that has been in the making for well over a year. The makers had earlier announced October 13, 2021 as the release date. It remains to be seen if they manage to wrap up all the works and release it on time.

The film is about two freedom fighters, Alluri Sita Ramaraju (Ram Charan) and Komaram Bheem (Jr NTR) who fought against the British Raj and the Nizam of Hyderabad, respectively. Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn, Shriya Saran, Olivia Morris, Ray Stevenson, Alison Doody, Samuthirakani and many others are part of the ensemble cast.
