Shankar-Ram Charan film set to begin soon!

Director Shankar’s next with Telugu star Ram Charan is set to go on floors soon. Dil Raju and Shirish are jointly producing this big-budget film under the banner of Sri Venkateswara Creations. Following the recent development of Madras High Court dismissing the injunction filed by Lyca Productions against director Shankar, the Ram Charan-project is expected to go on floors in September.

Last day, Dil Raju, Shankar and Ram Charan met for discussions regarding the project and an official word regarding when shoot begins will be out shortly. Tentatively titled as ‘RC 15’, it is planned as a pan-Indian project that will be released in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. Bollywood actress Kiara Advani is the front-runner to play the female lead’s role. She has previously acted with Ram Charan already in the 2019 film ‘Vinaya Vidheya Rama’.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that Shankar is planning a big-scale action drama in which Ram Charan essays the role of a cop-turned-politician, who wants to change the system. There is also a buzz about a superstar cameo but nothing has been confirmed yet.

Minnal Murali OTT rights bagged by Netflix for a record price!

Tovino Thomas starrer ‘Minnal Murali’ is a highly-anticipated film that is expected to release sometime by the end of this year. Directed by Basil Joseph, it is a superhero flick made on a big canvas. Planned as a pan-Indian film, it will be releasing in 5 languages – Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi. Sophia Paul of Weekend Blockbusters is producing the film.

It is reported that streaming giant Netflix has bagged the post-theatrical digital rights of ‘Minnal Murali’ for a record price. It is the first superhero film in Malayalam and the massive hype that comes with it has helped the makers in bagging such a lucrative deal. Another major factor is the stellar response among non-Malayalis for Tovino’s last release ‘Kala’, which is also streaming on Netflix.

Trade analyst Sreedhar Pillai tweeted,

‘Minnal Murali’, set in the 90s, has Tovino playing a local superhero. Tamil actor Guru Somasundaram essays the antagonist role. Aju Varghese, Baiju Santhosh, Harisree Ashokan, Mammukoya, debutante Femina George and many others are part of the cast. The film is scripted by Arun Anirudhan and Justin Mathew. Cinematographer Sameer Thahir, music director Shaan Rahman and Hollywood-based action choreographer Vlad Rimburg form the core technical team

Dulquer Salmaan set to resume shooting for his next Telugu film

Dulquer Salmaan was shooting in Kashmir for his new Telugu film when the second wave of pandemic worsened and shoot got stalled midway. After almost two months, the team is set to resume works. Dulquer is currently in Hyderabad for the film’s shoot. It is directed by Hanu Raghavapudi of ‘Padi Padi Leche Manasu’ fame. Swapna Cinema is producing the film and Priyanka Dutt of Vyjayanthi Movies will be presenting it.

Rumoured to be titled as ‘Yuddham Tho Rasina Prema Katha’, this film is said to be a romantic period drama set in the 1960s. Dulquer plays the role of an army officer named Lieutenant Ram in it. The makers are in talks with some leading Bollywood actresses to play the female lead’s role. An official word is still awaited regarding the same.

Vishal Chandrashekhar has been signed as the music director. More details regarding the cast and crew are expected to be out soon.

It’s a dream come true to act with Kamal Haasan sir: Narain

Shoot for Lokesh Kanagaraj’s new film ‘Vikram’ starring Kamal Haasan is expected to begin soon. Narain, who was last seen in a prominent role in Lokesh’s ‘Kaithi’, will be essaying a crucial role in this film as well. According to Narain, it is a dream come true to act with Kamal Haasan.

In a recent interview, he is quoted saying, “Acting alongside Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan sir is a dream come true for me. The reason I got into acting is because of him. ‘Vikram’ will certainly be bigger than Kaithi. I will begin shooting for my portions from August.”

‘Vikram’ also has another Malayali actor, Fahadh Faasil in a major role. Vijay Sethupathi, ‘Angamaly Diaries’ fame Antony Varghese and Arjun Das are also rumoured to be part of the film but their casting is yet to be confirmed. On the technical front, National award-winning cinematographer Girish Gangadharan, music director Anirudh Ravichander and action choreographers AnbAriv are already on board.

As Sara’s gears up for its premiere on Amazon Prime Video on July 5, the makers have released a new song video online. Anna Ben plays the role of an aspiring filmmaker in this film. This newly released song titled ‘Kadha Parayanu’ is a fun track that features Anna’s character narrating her script to various producers and trying to greenlit her directorial debut. Tovino Thomas released the song through his social media handle. Along with that he wishes luck to the entire cast and crew.

Sara’s is directed by Jude Anthany Joseph and scripted by Akshay Hareesh. The film revolves around a cheerful and fun loving Sara who works towards her dream of becoming a filmmaker. At one point, she meets Jeevan (Sunny Wayne) with whom she relates on various of her choices, especially the choice of not having a child. The film promises to be a light hearted take on how society and family pressurizes young couples in matters concerning relationships, marriage and pregnancy.

The cast includes Mallika Sukumaran, Dhanya Varma, Aju Varghese, Srinda, Vijayakumar, Benny P Nayarambalam, Thushara and many others. Vineeth Sreenivasan will also be seen making a guest appearance.

Last year’s blockbuster Malayalam film ‘Anjaam Pathiraa’ is being remade in various languages. The film was dubbed in Telugu as ‘Midnight Murders’ and released on the OTT platform Aha. Earlier this year, it also got remade in Bengali as ‘Psycho’. Now we hear that the Tamil version is getting remade.

Atharvaa Murali has been signed to play the lead role in the Tamil remake. The promising young actor is noted for his performances in films like ‘Paradesi’, ‘Imaikka Nodigal’ and ‘Kanithan’. In ‘Anjaam Pathiraa’ remake, he will be seen essaying the lead role of a criminologist, who assists the police force to crack a series of murders. Kunchacko Boban had done the lead role in the original version. Details regarding the director and production house will be out soon.

‘Anjaam Pathiraa’ directed by Midhun Maneul Thomas was a hugely successful film. Since it is a thriller with a gripping screenplay, it should appeal well to film lovers irrespective of the language. The makers of the remake versions will be hoping to repeat the same success.

‘Chathur Mukham’ starring Manju Warrier and Sunny Wayne has been selected for screening at the 25th Buncheon International Fantastic Film Festival, South Korea. It has been selected under the category ‘World Fantastic RED’. Films belonging to horror, fantasy and mystery genre are selected in this category. It is among the 258 films selected from 47 countries.

‘Chathur Mukham’ is directed jointly by Ranjeet Kamala Sankar and Salil V. It is a techno-horror thriller, the first of its kind in Malayalam. Scripted by Anil Kumar and Abhaya Kumar, the film tries to achieve the concept of solving something that’s beyond science using science. Upon its theatrical release on April 8, the film opened to largely positive response. Despite the good run, the makers were forced to withdraw it from theatres due to the second wave of pandemic.

‘Chathur Mukham’ is set to have its television premiere soon. Zee Keralam has bagged the satellite rights while their own OTT platform Zee 5 hold the digital streaming rights.

If latest reports are to be believed, the one-year long wait of Ajith fans for the first look of ‘Valimai’ is finally ending in July. Buzz is that the makers are planning to release the first look and motion poster along with the background score. An official word is expected to be made by the makers very soon.

‘Valimai’ directed by H Vinoth has tremendous hype thanks to the long wait. Though it has been well over a year since shoot commenced, the makers have not shared regular updates which has not gone well with the fans. #ValimaiUpdate is a regularly trending hashtag in Twitter and fans often storm the social media handles of the film’s cast and crew members troubling them for updates. Multiple videos of fans asking politicians, sportspersons and others for updates on the film have gone viral. It is likely to come to a rest with the first look release.

‘Valimai’ shoot has not yet been completed. The team is planning to fly abroad once the pandemic situation gets better to shoot the remaining portions. The film is scheduled to hit screens for this year’s Diwali in November.

‘Archana 31 Not Out’ is an upcoming film starring Aishwarya Lekshmi in the titular role. ‘Archana 31’ is Aishwarya Lekshmi’s maiden film as a solo lead. The film promises to be a fun entertainer revolving around the titular character’s attempts to get married. The film set in a rustic backdrop was mostly shot in Palakkad. It will be interesting to see how Aishwarya carries the film on her shoulders.

Dance choreographer Jani’s birthday celebrated on the sets of Beast

Shoot for Vijay’s upcoming film ‘Beast’ has resumed in Chennai. The team is currently filming a dance sequence featuring the lead pair, Vijay and Pooja Hegde. A huge set of a shopping mall has been erected in Chennai, where the shoot is taking place. Jani Master is choreographing all the songs in the film. Last day, the makers celebrated his birthday on sets. Vijay, director Nelson and other crew members were present for the cake cutting.

Jani Master predominantly works in Telugu cinema. He choreographs in a wide range of dancing styles, but he is mostly known for his western and folk style dancing. Some of his most popular works include ‘Butta Bomma’ (Ala Vaikunthapurramloo), ‘Chill Bro’ (Pattas) and ‘Dhinchak’ (Red). ‘Beast’ is his first outing with Vijay; so a lot of freshness is expected from this new combo.

‘Beast’ is shaping up as a big-scale action entertainer. Vijay reportedly plays the role of a con-agent in it. Anirudh Ravichander is the music director and Manoj Paramahamsa handles the camera.
