Beast works to resume with a song shoot featuring Vijay and Pooja Hegde

Shoot for Vijay’s upcoming film ‘Beast’ is set to resume in Chennai from July 1. As per trustworthy reports, the makers are planning to resume works with a song shoot featuring the lead pair, Vijay and Pooja Hegde. Earlier in April, the makers had started shoot in Georgia but they had to stop halfway and return back to India due to the worsening pandemic situation.

‘Beast’ is directed by Nelson Dilipkumar of ‘Kolamavu Kokila’ fame. The film is shaping up as a big-scale action entertainer. Vijay reportedly plays the role of a con-agent in it. Malayali actors Shine Tom Chacko and Aparna Das are also part of the cast. Anirudh Ravichander is the music director and Manoj Paramahamsa handles the camera. Action choreography is done by National award winners AnbAriv.

Sun Pictures is producing the film, which is being planned as a January 2022 theatrical release. Streaming giant Netflix is said to have acquired the post-theatrical digital rights.

Moonwalk is a tribute to Michael Jackson; Trailer looks highly promising!

Last day, on the 12th anniversary of pop king Michael Jackson, the trailer of a new Malayalam film, which is being made as a tribute to him, got released online. AK Vinod is directing the film and it is scripted by him along with Sunil Gopalakrishnan and Mathew Varghis. Based on true events, the film follows the story of a bunch of youngsters from the backyards of a small town in Kerala during the late 80s, who inspired by the Michael Jackson mania, try to emulate his style, and learn break dancing.

Sharing the trailer through his Facebook page, Nivin Pauly wrote,

A Tribute to Michael Jackson! Presenting the Official Trailer of Moonwalk Movie, an untold story of breakdance mania and sheer excitement that took over an entire generation by storm. Best wishes to director #AKVinod and the entire team!

‘Moonwalk’ has around 100 newcomers in the cast. Srikanth Murali, Meenakshi and Veena Nair are some of the known faces in the film. Ansar Sha is the cinematographer and edits are by Kiran Das. Prashant Pillai handles the music department. The film is produced by Jasni Ahamad under the banner of Firewood Shows.

D 43: Final schedule of Dhanush’s next to begin in July

Actor Dhanush has returned back from US after completing the shoot of ‘The Gray Man’. He is now set to resume works of his pending projects. The final schedule of his upcoming film with director Karthick Naren will begin in July. Tentatively titled as ‘D 43’, the film is said to be a thriller. Karthick Naren has scripted it along with the Malayali scenarists Suhas-Sharafu of ‘Varathan’ fame. Lyricist Vivek has penned the additional screenplay and dialogues.

‘D 43’ has Malavika Mohanan as the female lead. Reports suggest that Dhanush and Malavika play investigative journalists in the film. It must be noted that during the project’s announcement, the makers had shared a poster which revealed an intriguing bit about the plot. It is centred around the death of an independent journalist, Gurumoorthy, and his wife in an accident, and how their elder son tries to solve the mystery behind the deaths.

‘Thadam’ fame Smruthi Venkat, ‘Soorarai Pottru’ fame Krishna Kumar and Samuthirakani are also part of the cast. GV Prakash is composing the music.

His son Gokul Suresh wished him a happy birthday by sharing a new still from the sets of their upcoming film, ‘Paappan’. Along with the photo, Gokul has written a brief birthday note showering hiw love for his dad. It reads,

As I share this still from #Paappan, I consider myself lucky enough to be seen alongside Achan. From seeing you as a superdad at home and the characters onscreen to observing you carry out the aura behind camera, I feel the most blessed. Thank you for everything and happy birthday Acha!

‘Paappan’ directed by Joshiy has Suresh Gopi and Gokul acting together for the first time ever. While the veteran plays a character named Abraham Mathew Mathan, Gokul’s character in it is named as Michael. The film scripted by RJ Shaan is a family-based entertainer with mystery and suspense elements in it. Shoot is currently stalled due to the pandemic situation.

Prithviraj Sukumaran has one of the most enviable line up of projects as a lead actor in Malayalam today. In a recent interview with Film Companion, he revealed that he is also in talks for some other exciting projects, one of which is a pan-Indian film. He also added that the hit combo of Dileesh Pothan and Syam Pushkaran have approached him with a big scale film, which he said might eventually happen.

Prithviraj though sounded a bit disheartened as he wanted to do something small and rooted-to-reality like Pothan and Pushkaran’s previous films. The actor even wondered why he is offered such big films and why they aren’t approaching him with scripts like ‘Joji’.

As of now it remains to be seen when the Pothan-Pushkaran-Prithviraj film materializes as the star has a long list of projects lined up. He already has films like ‘Theerppu’, ‘Jana Gana Mana’, ‘Kaduva’ and ‘Aadujeevitham’ in different stages of production. ‘Neelavelicham’ and ‘Vilayath Buddha’ are some of his other announced projects. He is also set to direct a multi-starrer titled ‘Bro Daddy’ soon and after that he has the much-anticipated ‘Empuraan’ coming up.

It is superstar Suresh Gopi’s birthday today. As a special treat for his fans, the first look poster of ‘SG 251’ has been released online. Suresh Gopi is seen sporting a stunning salt and pepper getup in the poster. It has certainly raised the expectations among fans. The film is to be directed by Rahul Ramachandran of ‘Jeem Boom Bhaa’ fame and debutant Sameen Salim has penned the script.

Unveiling the first look poster of ‘SG 251’, director Rahul Ramachandran wrote,

It is learnt that Suresh Gopi will be appearing in two different looks in the film. Since the story is set in two timelines, the star will be seen sporting different looks for each phase of the character. Ethereal Entertainments is producing the film and August Cinemas will be distributing it. More details regarding the cast, crew and when shoot begins will be announced soon.

Suresh Gopi also has Nithin Renji Panicker’s ‘Kaaval’ and ‘Ottakomban’ coming up.

Release date of Asif Ali’s Kunjeldho announced

The long delayed Asif Ali starrer ‘Kunjeldho’ is finally getting ready for theatrical release. The makers have announced that the film will hit screens on August 27. It was supposed to hit screens last year itself but the plan had to be dropped due to the pandemic. The film has already been censored with a clean U certificate.

‘Kunjeldho’ marks the directorial debut of RJ Mathukutty. It is a coming-of-age film that has Asif Ali playing a school student and later as a college-going youth. Debutante Gopika Udhayan is paired with him. The supporting cast includes Siddique, Rekha, Margret Antony, Arjun Gopal, Krithika Pradeep, Sudheesh and many others

‘Kunjeldho’ is being produced jointly by Suvin K Varkey and Prashobh Krishna of Little Big Films. Vineeth Sreenivasan is also part of the team as the creative director. Swaroop Philip has cranked the camera and music is handled by Shaan Rahman. Ranjan Abraham is editing the film

KGF Chapter 2 likely to be released in September

‘KGF: Chapter 2’ is easily one of the most anticipated Indian films of the year. The makers have completed shoot and are almost done with the post-production works as well. Though they had announced July 16 as the release date, it had to be postponed due to the pandemic situation in the country. Latest reports suggest that they are eyeing to release the film in theatres on September 9. It will be possible only if there is no third wave and theaters resume functioning across India. The makers are also in negotiations with Amazon Prime for the post-theatrical digital rights.

‘KGF: Chapter 2’ is directed by Prashanth Neel. The film has Yash reprising the lead role of dreaded gangster Rocky. Veteran Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt will be seen as the antagonist, Adheera. Ranveena Tandon, Srinidhi Shetty, Anant Nag, Rao Ramesh, Achyuth Kumar, Vasishta N Simha and Malavika Avinash are also part of the supporting cast.

Sara’s starring Anna Ben in the titular role is gearing up for direct release on Amazon Prime Video. The film is set to have its world premiere on July 5. As part of pre-release promotions, the makers have shared the first song video online. Mammootty released the song through his official Facebook page. The song titled ‘Mele Vinpadavukal Mele’ is composed by Shaan Rahman. Manu Manjith has written the lyrics and Sooraj Santhosh has lent his vocals. It is a travel song featuring a road trip from Kochi to Vagamon.

Sara’s is directed by Jude Anthany Joseph. Scripted by Akshay Hareesh, the film promises to be a rom-com entertainer Anna Ben plays an assistant director’s role in the film. Sunny Wayne plays her pair. The supporting cast includes Aju Varghese, Srinda, Mallika Sukumaran, Dhanya Varma, Thushara, Siju Wilson and many others. Vineeth Sreenivasan will also be seen making a guest appearance.

The film is jointly produced by K Murali Dharan and Santha Murali.

Prithviraj reveals about being part of a pan-Indian film

Prithviraj is one of the few male actors from Malayalam cinema to have tried their luck in other languages. Having done a handful of films in Tamil and Hindi, he is pretty popular among the non-Malayali audience. However, it has been a while since Prithviraj has acted in a film outside Malayalam. His last such outing was the Taapsee Pannu starrer ‘Naam Shabana’, that got released in 2017.

Last day, during an interaction session with his followers in Instagram, one of them asked Prithviraj about when he will be doing a Tamil film next. The star then revealed that he will soon be starring in a pan-Indian film, which will be released in not just Tamil but in all major languages. He added that more details will be out during the project’s official announcement.

This big revelation by Prithviraj has lead to various speculations among fans regarding the project. While some believe it will be ‘Randamoozham’, some are hopeful of seeing the actor in Mani Ratnam’s upcoming biggie ‘Ponniyin Selvan’, which already has a plethora of stars.
