Anna Ben-Sunny Wayne starrer Sara’s set to be out on Amazon Prime Video; Release date announced

Anna Ben and Sunny Wayne are coming together for a new film titled Sara’s. Jude Anthany Joseph is directing the film. It has been announced that the film will be released directly on Amazon Prime Video. It is set to have its world premiere on July 5. Last day, the makers had also released the first song video online.

Sara’s scripted by Akshay Hareesh is a rom-com entertainer in which Anna Ben plays an assistant director’s role. The supporting cast includes Aju Varghese, Srinda, Mallika Sukumaran, Dhanya Varma, Thushara, Siju Wilson and many others. Vineeth Sreenivasan will also be seen in a cameo role.

Cinematography is by Nimish Ravi of ‘Luca’ and ‘Kurup’ fame. Shaan Rahman, who had composed music for Jude’s first earlier films — ‘Om Shanthi Oshana’ and ‘Oru Muthassi Gadha’, has been retained for this film as well. Riyas K Badhar is the editor.

Sara’s is jointly produced by K Murali Dharan and Santha Murali. Prior to the premiere, the makers are expected to release the teaser and trailer online.

Naane Varuven: Dhanush’s next with Selvaraghavan set to to begin in August

Dhanush is teaming up with his brother Selvaraghavan for a new film titled as ‘Naane Varuven’. Kalaippuli S Thanu’s V Creations is producing the film. Cinematographer Arvind Krishna and music director Yuvan Shankar Raja are already confirmed in the team. The makers have announced that its shoot will begin on August 20.

Dhanush and Selvaraghavan have teamed up for some memorable hits before. Their last film together was ‘Mayakkam Enna’, which got released 10 years back in 2011. Likewise, the same combo of Dhanush, Selvaraghavan, Arvind Krishna and Yuvan Shankar Raja have worked together in hits like ‘Thulluvadho Ilamai’, ‘Kadhal Kondein’ and ‘Pudhupettai’. So expectations will be on the higher side for ‘Naane Varuven’. After this, the brothers will be teaming up for the ambitious ‘Aayirathil Oruvan 2’, which is planned as a 2024 release.

Dhanush meanwhile has returned back to India after wrapping up his portions for ‘The Gray Man’, directed by Russo Brothers. The Netflix original has him sharing screen space with Hollywood stars, Chris Evans and Ryan Gosling.

Prithviraj recently made a surprise announcement regarding his second directorial. Titled as ‘Bro Daddy’, the film has superstar Mohanlal and him in equally important roles. Others in the cast include Meena, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Murali Gopy, Kaniha Soubin Shahir and Lalu Alex. The film is scripted by debutants Sreejith N and Bibin Maliekal.

In a recent interview, Sreejith N opened up about how the project got materialized. Sreejith has been with the poster designing team Old Monks for long. They have associated with Prithviraj from ‘Anwar’ days. When the subject of of ‘Bro Daddy’ came up, Sreejith discussed it with Prithviraj to see if his production house is interested in it. But to his pleasant surprise, Prithviraj himself decided to direct the film.

According to Sreejith, Prithviraj was laughing throughout the script narration. After a week, he called to inform that Mohanlal will be playing the lead role. Rest of the cast and crew were put together immediately. ‘Bro Daddy’ promises to be a fun entertainer. Sreejith believes that there is a space for fun, family-oriented films today due to the overdose of thrillers.

Antony Perumbavoor is producing the film under the banner of Aashiravd Cinemas. The team is planning to start shoot very soon following all the Covid regulations.

Tamil actors Suriya and Jyothika got their first dose of vaccine today. The former shared photos of them getting their jab in his official Instagram handle. Earlier this year, in February, Suriya had tested positive for Covid-19 and was in quarantine for a brief period. He resumed works in March by joining the sets of his upcoming film with director Pandiraj.

Suriya was last seen in ‘Soorarai Pottru’ directed by Sudha Kongara. His next release will be the Netflix anthology ‘Navarasa’. He plays a musician in the segment directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon. It will be premiering in August. Suriya is also expected to resume the shoot of Pandiraj’s film as soon as the existing restrictions are lifted. He also has ‘Vaadivaasal’ with Vetrimaaran coming up.

Jyothika’s last release was the legal drama ‘Ponmagal Vandhal’ directed by JJ Fredrick. Unconfirmed reports suggest that she has been approached to play the role of Prabhas’ sister in the upcoming biggie ‘Salaar’. ‘KGF’ fame Prashanth Neel is directing the film.

As announced by the makers of ‘Maanaadu’, the first single got released online at 12 PM. It is a romantic song featuring the two leads, Simbu and Kalyani Priyadarshan. Titled ‘Meherezylaa’, the song is composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja and lyrics is penned by Madhan Karky. Yuvan has also lent his vocals along with Rizwan and Raja Bhavatharini.

‘Maanaadu’ directed by Venkat Prabhu is planned as a pan-Indian film with release in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. The film is a political thriller with an intriguing time-travel concept in it. SJ Suryah plays a major role as a cop. Actor Vijay’s father SA Chandrasekhar, Bharathiraja, his son Manoj Bharathi, Karunakaran and Premji Amaren are also part of the cast. Richard M Nathan is the cinematographer and Praveen KL handles the edits. The film is being produced by Suresh Kamatchi under the banner of V House Productions.

As announced recently, ‘Marakkar: Arabikadlinte Simham’ will be hitting screens on August 12 during the Onam season. The film’s release has been delayed by nearly two years due to the pandemic. However, expectations are still huge on this film, which had recently won a couple of National awards as well.

We hear that ‘Marakkar’ will have an exclusive three-week release in all the theatres in Kerala. Apparently, a verbal agreement has been reached between the Kerala Film Producers Association (KFPA) and Film Exhibitors United Organisation of Kerala (FEUOK) to release in the film over 600 screens across Kerala. No other film is likely to release during this three-week window in August.

Meanwhile, the makers of ‘Marakkar’ have been receiving lucrative offers from several OTT platforms but they are keen on releasing it only theatres as it is designed for a big screen experience. Exhibitors and industry insiders have pinned massive hopes on the film as they believe it has the potential to emerge a huge blockbuster and revive the Malayalam industry, which has been severely affected due to the pandemic.

Directed by Priyadarshan, ‘Marakkar’ is an action-epic made on a grand scale with a huge star cast. Mohanlal plays the titular role of Kunjali Marakkar IV. The cast includes several well-known actors from various languages.

‘Hridayam’ promises to be a musically rich film. It has a total of 15 tracks. Actor Prithviraj and veteran singers like Srinivas, KS Chithra, Unni Menon and many others have lent their vocals.

Directed by Vineeth Sreenivasan, ‘Hridayam’ stars Pranav Mohanlal, Kalyani Priyadarshan and Darshana Rajendran as the leads. the film is expected to be a youthful entertainer. Shoot is almost complete with only a very portions left.

‘Thalaivi’, the biopic of late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, is getting ready for release in Tamil and Hindi. The makers have acquired a clean U certificate for the Tamil version. The film was set to have a grand theatrical release on April 23 but had to be postponed due to the second wave of pandemic. It is now expected to hit screens as soon as the situation gets better.

Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut plays the lead role in ‘Thalaivi’. The film is directed by AL Vijay, who is known for his films like ‘Madrasapattinam’ and ‘Thalaivaa’. For ‘Thalaivi’, Kangana had taken lot of efforts, which includes learning Tamil language and getting trained in classical dancing. She had also put on extra weight for playing the character. Arvind Swamy essays the role of MGR in the film. Shamna Kasim and Samuthirakani are essaying other major roles.

‘Thalaivi’ is scripted jointly by ‘Baahubali’ writer KV Vijayendra Prasad and Rajat Arora. Vishal Vittal cranks the camera and music composed by GV Prakash. It is jointly produced by Vishnu Induri and Shaailesh R Singh.

Vijay’s next with director Nelson Dilipkumar has been titled as ‘Beast’ and its posters continue to trend in social medias. Touted to be a big-scale action film, it is produced by Sun Pictures. As per trustworthy reports, the makers are planning it as a January 2022 theatrical release during the Pongal season. Streaming giant Netflix has acquired the post-theatrical digital rights. It is believed to be a great move by Netflix as big star movies such as this bring in lage number of subscriptions. Digital rights of Vijay’s last film ‘Master’ was bagged by Amazon Prime Video and it garnered great reception in the OTT arena as well.

Meanwhile, ‘Beast’ team will be hoping to resume shoot at the earliest. Major portions of the film have been planned to be shot abroad. Though they had started shoot in April in Georgia, they had to return back home due to the second wave of pandemic.

‘Beast’ has Pooja Hegde as the female lead. Malayali actors Shine Tom Chacko and Aparna Das are also part of the cast. Anirudh Ravichander is the music director and Manoj Paramahamsa handles the camera.
