Namitha names Prithviraj as her favorite Malayalam actor; Expresses her wish to act with him!

Namitha is a popular actress among the South Indian audience. Though she has not been very active in the last few years, she is set to make a comeback with a multilingual film titled ‘Bow Wow’. As part of its promotions, she recently had an interview with a popular Malayalam daily. When asked about Malayalam cinema, she named Prithviraj Sukumaran as her favorite actor in the industry. She also expressed her wish to act with him some day. It is worth a mention that Namitha has so far done two Malayalam films – ‘Black Stallion’ and ‘Pulimurugan’.

Namitha’s comeback film is ‘Bow Wow’, a suspense thriller that has a dog as a central character. The film is written and directed by RL Ravi and Mathew Scaria. Namitha plays a blogger in the film, which is said to be inspired by a true survival story. The film marks her maiden production venture. Her own production house is jointly funding the film along with Subash S Nath of S Nath Films.

‘Bow Wow’ has PS Krishna cranking the camera while Ananthu S Vijay handles the editing. Rejimon is composing the music. Apart from Malayalam and Tamil, the film will be released in Telugu and Kannada as well.

Kannil Minnum song from Meppadiyan fetches 1 million YouTube views

The first single from Unni Mukundan’s new film ‘Meppadiyaan’ got released on April 7. After almost a month, the song has touched the 1 million mark in YouTube. The video also has 30k likes. Titled as ‘Kannil Minnum’, it is a lovely track that features montage shots of the daily lives of various characters in the film. Karthik and Nithya Mammen have lent their vocals for the song. It is composed by Rahul Subramanian and lyrics is penned by Joe Paul.

‘Meppadiyaan’ is scripted and directed by debutant Vishnu Mohan. From the promos, the film looks like a complete entertainer. Unni Mukundan plays the lead character named Jayakrishnan in the film. Anju Kurian essays the part of his romantic interest.

There is also an elaborate supporting cast comprising of actors like Aju Varghese, Vijay Babu, Kalabhavan Shajohn, Nisha Sarang, Aparna Janardhanan, Indrans, Saiju Kurup, Kundara Johny, Major Ravi, Sreejith Ravi, Kottayam Ramesh and Pauly Valsan.

On the technical front, Neil D’Cunha cranks the camera and music department is handled by Rahul Subramanian. Shameer Muhammad is editing the film. It is produced by Unni Mukundan under his own banner of UMF.

Kuruthi post-production works over; Prithviraj feels proud about the film

Post-production works for Prithviraj’s new film ‘Kuruthi’ has successfully been wrapped up. Last day, the star took to his social media handle to share a photo taken with the film’s sound designer Rajakrishnan MR and music director Jakes Bejoy after all the works got over. Along with that, Prithviraj also added that he is truly proud about the film.

‘Kuruthi’ is directed by debutant Manu Warrier and scripted by Anish Pallyal. The film, which is said to be an intense action thriller, was shot in quick time last December. Prithviraj, who is also producing the film, had earlier mentioned that he is proud on how the film got made in quick time without compromising on any quality. According to him, it is the fastest film he has shot for in his entire career.

The film’s cast also includes Murali Gopy, Roshan Mathew, Shine Tom Chacko, Srindaa, Mamukkoya, Manikandan Rajan, ‘Thanneer Mathan Dhinangal’ fame Naslen, Navas Vallikkunnu and ‘Thatteem Mutteem’ fame Sagar Surya in key roles. Though the makers had announced May 13 as the release date, it is certainly not possible due to the pandemic second wave.

SSMB 28: Mahesh Babu and Trivikram Srinivas join hands for the third time

Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu is set to team up with hit maker Trivikram Sirinvas for the third time. The project, tentatively titled as ‘SSMB 28’ got officially announced recently. The makers have informed that shoot will begin soon and it will be hitting screens in 2022 as a summer special. S Radhakrishna will produce the film under Haarika & Hassine Creations banner.

Mahesh Babu and Trivikram Srinivas have previously worked together in ‘Athadu’ and ‘Khaleja’. It remains to be seen if the combo can reap a hattrick of success. More details regarding the film’s other cast and crew will be announced soon.

Mahesh Babu is currently looking forward to the release of ‘Sarkaru Vaari Paata’. Parasuram is directing the film that has Keerthy Suresh as the female lead. The film is scheduled to be released theatrically in January 2022 during the Sankranti season.

Meanwhile, director Trivikram Srinivas is penning the adapted screenplay for the Telugu remake of blockbuster Malayalam movie movie ‘Ayyapannum Koshiyum’. The Telugu version directed by Saagar K Chandra has Rana Daggubati and Pawan Kalyan as the leads.

Allu Arjun and AR Murugadoss to team up?

Of late, many Tamil filmmakers have been trying to expand their wings. Directors like Shankar and Lingusamy are doing straight Telugu films. AR Murugadoss is also likely to join them. As per latest reports, the ‘Kaththi’ director is planning to team up with Allu Arjun for a new film. It is rumoured to be a pan Indian project produced by the star’s father Allu Aravind under the banner of Geetha Arts.

Murugadoss’ next was supposed to be with Tamil superstar Vijay for Sun Pictures. However, the project failed to take off as the production house was unhappy with Murugadoss’ script and the fact that his last film ‘Darbar’, also produced by the same banner, was not a big commercial success.

It was also reported that Murugadoss is planning a live-action film and another with Sivakarthikeyan. But it seems like Allu Arjun’s project will begin first. We will still have to wait for an official announcement.

The acclaimed Hindi film ‘Andhadhun’ is getting remade in Malayalam as ‘Bhramam’. Ace cinematographer Ravi K Chandran is directing the film. Prithviraj, Unni Mukundan, Mamta Mohandas and Raashi Khanna play the lead roles.
While Prithviraj plays the central character done by Ayushmann Khuranna, Unni reprises the cop’s part done by Manav Vij.

‘Bhramam’ marks the first time coming together of the two actors. In a recent interview with TOI, Unni Mukundan was all praise of his co-star Prithviraj and opened up about the bond he shares with him. Unni said that he always wanted to work with Prithviraj, whom he has admired even prior to entering the industry. In his own words, Prithviraj is not just an exceptional actor but also a compassionate individual.

Unni is also in awe of Prithviraj’s professionalism. He also added that he learned a lot while we worked together in ‘Bhramam’. Unni has also pinned high hopes on the film. He firmly believes that the film won’t disappoint anyone and assured that it will be a novel experience for even those who have watched ‘Andhadhun’.

Telugu star Allu Arjun, who had tested positive for Covid-19, has informed that he’s recovering well with very mild symptoms. He took to his social media handle to share a brief note asking his followers not to worry about him. He has written,

Last week, the actor took to his social media to inform that he has tested positive and is following all the safety protocols. He requested all his fans and well-wishers to not worry about him. He also urged everyone to get vaccinated when they get their chance.

Allu Arjun’s next release will be ‘Pushpa’, which is scheduled to hit screens on August 13. Directed by Sukumar, it is a mass-action entertainer planned as a pan-Indian release. Malayalam actor Fahadh Faasil plays the villain role in it Rashmika Mandanna, Prakash Raj, Jagapathi Babu and many others are part of the cast.

Tanya Ravichandran to be paired with Udhayanidhi Stalin in Article 15 Tamil remake

Superhit Hindi film ‘Article 15’ is being remade in Tamil with Udhayanidhi Stalin as the lead. Bollywood-based producer Boney Kapoor had bagged the Tamil remake rights of the film. ‘Kanaa’ fame Arunraja Kamaraja is directing the remake version, shoot for which had begun recently.

The makers have signed Tanya Ravichandran as the female lead. She is noted for her roles in ‘Balle Vellaiyathevaa’, ‘Brindavanam’ and ‘Karuppan’. In the remake of ‘Article 15’, Tanya is expected to reprise the role done by Isha Talwar in the original.

‘Article 15’ directed by Anubhav Sinha was a highly acclaimed film. It talks about the Article 15 of the Constitution of India, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of religion, race, caste, sex or place of birth. Since the film has a storyline with a nationwide appeal, it should work with the Tamil audience as well.

This yet-to-be titled film is produced by Romeo Pictures and presented by Boney Kapoor’s Bay View Projects LLP in association with Zee Studios.

Biju Menon is likely to team up with director Jibu Jacob once again. The duo had previously worked together in ‘Vellimoonga’ and ‘Adhyarathri’. While ‘Vellimoonga’ was a sleeper hit at the box office, ‘Adhyarathri’ failed to emerge successful. The two will be hoping to reap success this time. It is also learnt that the director is planning a small-scale film with Anna Ben as the lead. It remains to be seen which of the two goes on floors first.

Jibu Jacob’s next to hit screens will be ‘Ellam Sheriyaakum’ starring Asif Ali and Rajisha Vijayan as the leads. Scripted by Sharis Muhammed, it is a political satire in which Asif Ali will be seen as a youth activist of the left-wing party. The cast also includes Sudheer Karamana, Siddique, Kalabhavan Shajohn and Sethulakshmi among others. It is produced by Thomas Thiruvalla and Dr Paul Varghese under the banner of Dr Paul’s Entertainment.

The makers had earlier announced June 4 as the release date, but it remains to be seen if things go as per plans due to the second wave of pandemic.

It has been 8 years since the release of ‘Mumbai Police’, which is considered as one of the finest thriller films ever made in Malayalam cinema. Directed by Rosshan Andrrews and scripted by Bobby-Sanjay Duo, the film had Prithviraj, Jayasurya and Rahman in the lead roles.

On the 8th anniversary of its release, director Rosshan took to his social media handle to share some photos from the film’s making. He also added that they are remaking the film soon, details regarding which will be revealed shortly. His Facebook post reads,

Rosshan Andrrews is currently working on another cop thriller, ‘Salute’, that has Dulquer Salmaan as the lead. Bobby-Sanjay duo is scripting this film as well. Shoot has already been completely and the makers are now busy with the post-production works.
