Malayalam film industry celebrities congratulate Pinarayi Vijayan’s LDF government for their history victory

As the Kerala assembly election results are being declared, it has become official that the Pinarayi Vijayan-led LDF government will continue in power for the second successive time. This is a historic success as the LDF has bucked the four decade-long trend of swinging between the Communists and the Congress- headed UDF. At the time of reporting, LDF has won in 99 seats and UDF in 41, while the NDA alliance has failed to even open their account this time.

Congratulatory messages are pouring in from all corners for Pinarayi Vijayan and his party. Several Malayalam film industry celebrities like Unni Mukundan, Geetu Mohandas, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Tovino Thomas, Rima Kallingal, Parvathy and Samyuktha Menon have shared their wishes through social medias.

Actor Prithviraj has written a brief post, which reads,

Congratulations to the Honourable Chief Minister, Shri Pinarayi Vijayan led LDF and all the elected representatives of the state. Here is hoping that this day marks the end of all narratives based on political differences, and the state machinery along with its people work together and efficiently to take us through these turbulent times we are all facing together!

Meanwhile, actor Asif Ali has taken this occasion to share a new poster of his upcoming film ‘Ellam Sheriyaakum’. It is a political satire in which Asif Ali be seen as a youth activist of the left-wing party. Jibu Jacob of ‘Vellimoonga’ fame is directing the film and it is scripted by Sharis Muhammed.

‘Ellam Sheriyaakum’ has Rajisha Vijayan as the female lead. The supporting cast also includes Sudheer Karamana, Siddique, Kalabhavan Shajohn and Sethulakshmi among others. It is produced by Thomas Thiruvalla and Dr Paul Varghese under the banner of Dr Paul’s Entertainment.

The makers had earlier announced June 4 as the release date, but it remains to be seen of things go as per plans due to the pandemic second wave.

Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas to star in Telugu remake of Dhanush’s Karnan

The recently released blockbuster Tamil film ‘Karnan’ is getting remade in Telugu. Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas will be reprising the lead role played by Dhanush in the original. He is known for starring in films like ‘Alludu Seenu’, ‘Jaya Janaki’ and ‘Nayaka’. Earlier, he had also starred in the Telugu remake of ‘Ratchasan’. The actor is currently busy making his Bollywood debut with the remake of Prabhas starrer ‘Chatrapathi’.

The Telugu remake rights of ‘Karnan’ has already been bought for a hefty price. Though rumours suggested that Bellamkonda Suresh had secured the rights, it is now reported that the remake will be produced by a different person. An official announcement with details regarding the director and other cast and crew members is expected to be made soon.

‘Karnan’ directed by Mari Selvaraj is a rural-based drama that is partly inspired by real life incidents. It is a hard-hitting and thought-provoking film about oppression, custody violence and institutional discrimination. While Dhanush played the titular role, the film also stars Rajisha Vijayan, Lal, Lakshmipriya Chandramouli, Azhagar Perumal, Natarajan Subramanian, Gouri Kishan and Yogi Babu.

Karthi’s recently released hit film ‘Sulthan’ is up for OTT release. It will be steaming via Disney + Hotstar from tonight. The film directed by Bakkiyaraj Kannan of ‘Remo’ fame had originally hit screens on April 2. Despite the pandemic and the restrictions in theatres, the film managed to emerge successful by grossing around Rs 26 crores from Tamil Nadu box office alone.

‘Sulthan’ is a typical mass entertainer with plenty of action, loud dialogues and hundreds of oversized goons. It is one of those quintessential commercial potboilers with all mass-masala elements included in it. Though critic reviews were mixed, the film seems to have worked with majority of the common audience.

‘Sulthan’ marks the Tamil debut of Rashmika Mandanna, one of South Indian cinema’s most popular heroines today. The cast also includes ‘KGF’ fame Garuda Ram, Napoleon, Lal, Hareesh Peradi, Yogi Babu and Mansoor Ali Khan in important roles.
