We had earlier reported about ace-cinematographer-turned-filmmaker Santhosh Sivan remaking the hit Tamil film ‘Maanagaram’ in Hindi. The film has been titled as ‘Mumbaikar’ and it has Vikrant Massey and Vijay Sethupathi as the leads. Today, on the occasion of Vikrant’s birthday, the makers have shared the first look poster. The film also stars Sanjay Mishra, Tanya Maniktala, Ranvir Shorey, Hridhu Haroon and Sachin Khedekar.

First look of Mumbaikar

‘Maanagaram’ starring Sundeep Kishan, Regina Cassanadra and Sri as the leads is a hyperlink thriller that got released four years back in 2017. The film was as a sleeper hit at the box office. It was the directorial debut of Lokesh Kanagaraj, who later went on to make blockbuster films ‘Kaithi’ and ‘Master’.

‘Mumbaikar’, the Hindi version of ‘Maanagaram’, is said to be adapted to suit the sensibilities of the North Indian audience. Vikrant Massey is reprising the angry young man’s role played by Sundeep Kishan in Tamil. Vijay Sethupathi is supposedly playing the part played by Munishkanth.

Besides directing, Santosh Sivan is also cranking the camera and music department is handled by Prashant Pillai. Malayali producer Shibu Thameens of Thameens Films is backing the film.

SS Rajamouli’s mega-budget biggie ‘RRR’ is eyeing release in October. Starring Telugu stars Ram Charan as Jr NTR as the leads, it is planned as a pan-Indian project with release in multiple languages. Bollywood stars Ajay Devgn and Alia Bhatt are also essaying important roles in the film.

As it is Ajay Devgn’s birthday today, the makers have unveiled his character look. The actor looks fierce and intense in the motion poster. He is said to be playing a crucial extended cameo role. The film is majorly centred around two freedom fighters, Alluri Sita Ramaraju and Komaram Bheem who fought against the British Raj and the Nizam of Hyderabad, respectively. Jr NTR essays the part of Komaram Bheem while Ram Charan plays the part of Allu Sita Ramaraju. Olivia Morris, Ray Stevenson, Alison Doody, Samuthirakani and many others are part of the cast.

‘RRR’ is scheduled to hit screens worldwide on October 13, 2021.

Here’s the teaser of Vishnu Unnikrishnan’s new film Randu

‘Randu’ is an upcoming film starring Vishnu Unnikrishnan as the main lead. The film is directed by Sujith Lal and produced by Prajeev Sathyavarthan under the banner of Heavenly Films. Its teaser got released online last day. From the teaser, it looks like a fun entertainer with a commentary on the current political situation.

‘Randu’ is scripted by Binulal Unni. The film has an elaborate star cast. Anna Reshma Rajan of ‘Angamaly Diaries’ fame is the female lead. Irshad, Indrans, Tini Tom, Sudhi Koppa, Gokulan, Mustafa, Vishnu Govind, Rajesh Madhavan, Kalabhavan Rahman, Subeesh Sudhi, Mareena Michael, Sreelekshmi, Mala Parvathy and Mamitha Baiju will be seen in supporting roles.

On the technical front, the film has cinematography handled by Anish Lal RS, music composed by Bijibal and edits done by Manoj Kannoth. The makers are expected to announce the release plans soon.

Joji trailer released; Expectations on the rise for this Fahadh Faasil-Dileesh Pothan film!

The trailer of Fahadh Faasil’s new film ‘Joji’ got released online last day. The film is directed by Dileesh Pothan and scripted by Syam Pushkaran. The trailer reminds one of KG George’s classic film ‘Irakal’ as the setting in both the films look similar. Just like Ganesh Kumar’s lead character in ‘Irakal’, Fahadh Faasil as Joji is also a college dropout and the youngest son of the rich plantation family. The locations, joint family set-up and even some of the shots in the trailer seem to be deliberately done to get the ‘Irakal’ feel right.

As confirmed by the makers, ‘Joji’ is inspired from Willaim Shakespeare’s famous play, ‘Macbeth’. According to them, it is an independent adaptation that is set in the modern era. ‘Joji’ is about an youngster who lives with his aspirations of becoming a wealthy NRI. But his father sees down on him as a proper loser. Driven by greed and blind ambition, he finally decide to execute his plans following an unexpected event in the family. Will he succeed in achieving his dreams forms the rest of the plot.

Baburaj, Shammi Thilakan, Basil Joseph, Unnimaya Prasad and Alister Alex play important roles in the film. It has Shyju Khalid as the cinematographer and Kiran Das as the editor. Music is by Justin Varghese of ‘Njandukalude Naatil Oridavela’ and ‘Thaneer Mathan Dhinangal’ fame. The film is produced under the banner of Bhavana Studios.

It has been announced that ‘Joji’ will have its world premiere on Amazon Prime Video on April 7.

Prelude of Pushpraj: Makers of Allu Arjun-Fahadh Faasil starrer release a new promo video

The makers of Allu Arjun’s new film ‘Pushpa’ have released a new promo video titled ‘Prelude of Pushaparaj’. It has been informed that Allu’s character Pushaparaj will be introduced on April 7. The star celebrates his birthday of April 8 and the video is planned as a special treat for his fans.

Directed by Sukumar, ‘Pushpa’ is a mass-action entertainer planned as a pan-Indian release. Allu Arjun has gone through a major makeover as he sports a rugged, local look in the film. Malayalam actor Fahadh Faasil has been roped in to play the antagonist’s role. The makers had initially signed Tamil star Vijay Sethupathi to play the villain’s role but, due to the unexpected Covid-19 crisis and following date issues, he had to opt out of the project.

It is said that the film revolves around the smuggling of red sanders in the Tamil Nadu-Andhra Pradesh border. Rashmika Mandanna, Prakash Raj, Jagapathi Babu and many others are part of the cast.

Manju Warrier-Sunny Wayne starrer Chathur Mukham trailer looks spooky

‘Chathur Mukham’, the upcoming film starring Manju Warrier and Sunny Wayne is getting ready for release. Debutants Ranjeet Kamala Sankar and Salil V are directing the film, which is said to be a horror thriller. As informed earlier, the makers have released the trailer online. As expected, it looks spooky and has some really thrilling visuals.

‘Chathur Mukham’ is scripted by Anil Kumar and Abhaya Kumar. It is publicised as the first techno-horror thriller to be made in South Indian cinema. Sunny Wayne and Manju Warrier play business partners in the film. Manju essays the role of Sunny’s college senior. They later team up to own a CCTV business, which is based in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram. Alencier Ley Lopez, Niranjana Anoop, Kalabhavan Prajod, Shyamaprasad, Shrikanth Murali, Navas Vallikunnu, Shaju Sreedhar and many others are part of the cast.

‘Chathur Mukham’ has Abinandan Ramanujam of ‘Amen’ fame as the cinematographer. Manoj is in charge of the edits and Dawn Vincent is handling the music department as well as sound design. Jiss Thomas and Justin Thomas are jointly producing the film under the banner of Jiss Toms Movies. It is scheduled to hit screens on April 8.

As ‘Nayattu’ gears up to hit screens on April 8, the makers have released a new song online. Titled as ‘Appalaale’, it sounds like a fun folk song. The film’s music director Vishnu Vijay has composed, arranged and produced the song. His wife Madhuvanthi Narayan has lent her vocals and lyrics is penned by Anwar Ali.

‘Nayattu’ directed by Martin Prakkat stars Joju George, Kunchacko Boban and Nimisha Sajayan in the lead roles. Scripted by ‘Joseph’ fame Shahi Kabir, the film promises to be an unusual cop-thriller. General talk within the industry is highly positive and the the impressive trailer has further heightened the expectations.

‘Nayattu’ has an incredible technical team. Shyju Khalid is handling the cinematography and Mahesh Narayanan is editing the film. Vishnu Vijay of ‘Guppy’ and ‘Ambili’ fame is composing the music. Martin Prakkat is jointly producing the film in association with director Ranjith and PM Sasidharan’s banner Gold Coin Motion Pictures.

Watch: Rocketry – The Nambi Effect trailer looks stunning

As informed earlier, the trailer of R Madhavan’s directorial debut ‘Rocketry – The Nambi Effect’ has been released online. It is out in Tamil, Malayalam, Hindi, English, Kannada and Telugu languages. The film is the biopic of famous scientist Nambi Narayanan. Madhavan himself is playing the lead role. The two-minute-long trailer gives a sneak peak into Nambi Narayanan’s journey as a scientist and his controversial arrest.

‘Rocketry’ is actually based on Nambi Narayanan’s own book ‘Ready to fire: How India and I survived the ISRO spy case’, which details about the controversial case charged against him and his infamous arrest. Nambi Narayanan was the cryogenic division head at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). In 1994, he was falsely charged with espionage and arrested. The charges against him were later squashed by the CBI and the Supreme Court declared him not guilty. The film is expected to have some lesser known details about what behind his arrest.

Simran plays the role of Madhavan’s wife in the film. Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan will be seen in a cameo role of a journalist who takes the audience through the protagonist’s journey in flashback. The same character is reprised by Suriya in the Tamil and Telugu version.

KGF director Prashanth Neel to team up with Vijay for a pan-Indian film?

Vijay’s new film with director Nelson Dilipkumar was launched recently in a grand manner. Tentatively titled as ‘Thalapathy 67’, it is a planned as a pan-Indian project with Vijay said to be playing the role of a con agent in it. Meanwhile, there are reports that yet another pan-Indian project is being planned for Vijay.

Pinkvilla reports that popular Telugu-based producer Dil Raju is planning a massive Pan-South Indian film with Vijay and he is trying to get actors from across the South Indian states for this mega budget project. Apparently, Dil Raju is keen to have Prashanth Neel of ‘KGF’ fame as the director for this mega budget Pan-South Indian film with Vijay. The star too has shown his interest on collaborating with Prashanth.

It is even reported that Vijay, producer Dil Raju and Prashanth have met once recently to discuss the potential collaboration, and the meet ended on a positive note. Prashanth has been asked to develop a subject and more meetings will take place in the coming few months.

Prashanth is currently busy working on ‘Salaar’, a big-scale action film with Prabhas as the lead. After its completion, he is expected to team up with Jr NTR. Vijay’s film is likely to materialize only after that. Meanwhile, the ‘Master’ actor is also in talks with directors Lokesh Kanagaraj and Vetrimaaran.

‘Barroz’ is scripted by ‘My Dear Kuttichathan’ director Jijo Punnoose. It is a 3D fantasy film set against the backdrop of the maritime history of Portugal, Spain, India and Africa. Mohanlal plays the titular role and a 13-year-old child artiste named Shayla McCaffrey essays the other lead.

Rafael Amargo, Sara Vega, Cesar Lorente Raton, Don and Joshua are some of the foreign actors in the cast. Besides Mohanlal, Prithviraj Sukumaran and Prathap Pothen are the only other Malayalam actors to have confirmed so far in the cast.

A highly efficient technical crew is associated with the film. National award winners Santosh Sivan, Sreekar Prasad and Santhosh Raman will be handling the camera, edits and production design respectively. Child prodigy Lydian Nadhaswaram is composing music for the film.
