Prithviraj as Dr Derrick in Joju George’s psychological thriller Star

Joju George is teaming up with ‘Paippin Chuvattile Pranayam’ director Domin D’Silva for a new film titled ‘Star’. Suvin S Somasekharan has scripted the film, which is a psychological mystery thriller. As per the makers, the film discusses about Indian myths, and looks at how myths and various beliefs affect people’s lives.

Prithviraj Sukumaran is playing a cameo role in the film. He essays a character named Derrick, a doctor who unravels the mystery in the story. The actor had shot for a single day for the film. ‘Ladoo’ fame Gayathri Ashokan and Sheelu Abraham will be seen in other major roles. The team has already completed shoot and is eyeing a theatrical release.

Abraham Mathew is producing the film under the banner of Abaam Movies. On the technical front, Tharun Bhaskaran is the cinematographer and songs are composed by M Jayachandran and Ranjin Raj. William Francis is handling the background score.

Last year, Vijay Sethupathi had shot for a film titled ‘Maamanithan’ helmed by his mentor Seenu Ramasamy. After several months of completion of shoot, the makers have released some new location stills online. Vijay Sethupathi plays an auto driver in the film. Gayathrie, with whom he has acted in ‘Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom’, ‘Super Deluxe’ and ‘Puriyatha Puthir’, plays the female lead. Guru Somasundaram is also essaying a major role.

‘Maamanithan’ is produced by Yuvan Shankar Raja is producing the movie. Interestingly, the film has music scored by Yuvan, his brother Karthik Raja and his father, Ilayaraaja. An official announcement regarding the film’s release date is expected to be made soon by the makers.

Madhavan and Nani were the initial choices for Vijay Sethupathi’s role, reveal Master makers

‘Master’ is all set for theatrical release on January 13. The film is directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, whose last film ‘Kaithi’ was a huge hit. One of the biggest reasons to wait for the film is the fact that Vijay and Vijay Sethupathi are coming together for the first time. The latter is playing the antagonist’s role in the film.

Interestingly, the makers had initially tried to cast Madhavan or Telugu actor Nani for the role. This bit of information was revealed by ‘Aadai’ director Ratha Kumar, who is also one of the writers of ‘Master’. Apparently, the team didn’t approach Vijay Sethupathi first thinking that he wouldn’t accept the role. But later when Sathish, the producer of the upcoming film ‘Corona Kumar’ approached Vijay Sethupathi, the actor readily accepted the offer.

While Vijay plays a college professor named John Durairaj in ‘Master’, Vijay Sethupathi essays the role of a gangster. His character is named as Bhavani and it is said to be a very interesting role that’s not entirely one-dimensional. The makers have assured that his character has an excellent backstory and will have equal screen space with Vijay.

‘Master’ also stars Andrea Jeremiah, Malavika Mohanan, Shanthanu Bhagyaraj, Arjun Das and Gouri Kishan. Music director Anirudh, editor Philomin Raj and cinematographer Sathyan Sooryan form the core technical crew. Xavier Britto is producing the film under the banner of XB Pictures.

Mammootty’s One shoot to resume by January-end

Mammootty’s political film ‘One’ has been eagerly awaited by many. The makers had wrapped up almost 90% of the shoot by last January itself. However, due to the pandemic, they had to put things on hold. They have two more days of shoot left and they are planning to complete it by the end of this month. It is an important sequence involving Mammootty amidst a huge crowd. The makers have informed that the star’s new bearded-look won’t be of any issue for the shoot.

‘One’ has Mammootty playing the role of Kerala Chief Minister named Kadakkal Chandran. Bobby-Sanjay duo has scripted the film and it is directed by Santhosh Viswanath of ‘Chirakodinja Kinavukal’ fame. The film has a bunch of talented supporting actors in the cast. Murali Gopy and Joju George will be seen in prominent roles as the opposition leader and party secretary, respectively.

Nimisha Sajayan, Ranjith, Mathew Thomas, Gayathri Arun, P Balachandran, Sudev Nair, Suresh Krishna, Salim Kumar, Shankar Ramakrishnan, Alencier Ley Lopez, Mamukoya and many others are part of the cast. Vaidy Somasundaram is the cinematographer and music department is handled by Gopi Sunder.

Manoj Bajpai-Samantha starrer The Family Man season 2 release date announced

The release date of the second season of ‘The Family Man’ has been announced. It will be out on Amazon Prime Video on February 2. Directed by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, ‘The Family Man’ is centred around a middle-class man, secretly working for the TASC branch of National Investigation Agency. It’s about the challenges he faces in his personal and professional life.

Manoj Bajpai plays the lead character in the series. Malayalam actor Neeraj Madhav, Priya Mani, Sharib Hashmi, Shreya Dhanwanthary Kishore, Sundeep Kishan, Sharad Kelkar, Dinesh Prabhakar and Gul Panag were also part of the first season’s cast. The second season has popular South Indian actress Samantha as the antagonist. It marks her debut in the web series arena and her performance is eagerly awaited.

‘The Family Man’ first season was a big success with positive reviews by the critics as well as the commoners. The makers will be hoping to continue the good run with the second season as well.

Mammootty looks dashing in this new poster of The Priest

The makers of ‘The Priest’ have released a new video featuring Manju Warrier. Apparently, they are looking for child dubbing artists who can speak fluently in Malayalam. Baby Monica, who played an important role in the blockbuster Tamil film ‘Kaithi’, is essaying a crucial part in this film as well. The team is currently on the look for girls between 8-13 who can dub for Monica’s character.

Along with the video, a new poster featuring Mammootty has also been attached. The superstar looks dashing wearing a hat and a dog is also seen sitting beside him. So far, ‘The Priest’ team has released three posters and all of them look promising.

The film written and directed by debutant Jofin T Chacko is said to be a mystery thriller. It has an elaborate star cast. Manju Warrier and Mammootty are acting together for the first time. Nikhila Vimal, Jagadheesh, Saniya Iyappan, Ramesh Pisharody, Ameya Mathew, ‘Nayika Nayakan’ fame Venkitesh and Tony Luke will be seen in supporting roles.

Akhil George is the cinematographer and Shameer Muhammed handles the edits. Composer Rahul Raj is currently working on the background score. The film is jointly produced by Anto Joseph, B Unnikrishnan and VN Babu. Official announcement regarding the theatrical release is expected to be made soon.

Master makers release new dialogue promo!

The makers of ‘Master’ have released a new promo video. It is a short promo in which Vijay is seen fighting and also delivering some powerful punch dialogues. More of such promos are expected to be out as the film gears up for a grand theatrical release on January 13. The film’s Telugu version is also releasing on the same day, while the Hindi dubbed version will be out on January 14.

‘Master’ directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj promises to be a proper commercial mass entertainer. Vijay Sethupathi plays the villain role in the film. Others in the cast include Malavika Mohanan, Andrea Jeremiah, Shanthanu Bhagyaraj, Arjun Das and Gouri Kishan among others. Anirudh has composed the music.

‘Master’ release is eagerly awaited by many including the industry people. The film is expected to be a big commercial booster for the industry that has been running on losses for almost a year now. Though the Tamil Nadu government had allowed 100% seating capacity in theatres, the Centre has instructed to revoke their decision and allow only 50% occupancy, in line with Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) guidelines.

Rajeev Ravi’s much-anticipated film ‘Thuramukham’ is gearing up for theatrical release on May 13 during the Eid holidays. The film has a stellar star cast lead by Nivin Pauly. Last day, the makers revealed the look of Joju George’s character. He essays a character named Maimu in the film. The makers had originally cast Biju Menon for the role but due to date issues, he got replaced by Joju. It is said to be a powerful character and Joju’s perfomance is eagerly awaited. Indrajith Sukumaran, Nimisha Sajayan, Darshana Rajendran, Arjun Ashokan, Poornima Indrajith, Sudev Nair and Manikandan R Achari will be seen in other important roles.

‘Thuramukham’ scripted by Gopan Chidambaram, is based on the historic protests against the inhuman ‘chappa’ system, that existed during the 1940s wherein copper coins were thrown at waiting workers in a primitive work guarantee scheme, which had resulted in police firing and killing of three workers in Mattancherry.

The film is set to have its world premiere at the prestigious International Film Festival of Rotterdam (IFFR). It is among the 15 films selected for the Big Screen Competiton section. The winner, chosen by an audience jury, will receive the VPRO Big Screen Award and will be presented during the festival in February. Sukumar Thekkeppat of Mini Studio is producing the film.

Charlie Tamil remake: Maara new trailer with Dulquer Salmaan’s voiceover out

Dulquer Salmaan’s acclaimed Malayalam film ‘Charlie’ is getting remade in Tamil as ‘Maara’. Madhavan is playing the lead role in the film with Shraddha Srinath and Sshivada as the heroines. Debutant Dhilip Kumar is directing the film, which is set for release on Amazon Prime Video on January 8. As the release date gets closer, the makers have released a new trailer online, this time with an alluring voiceover by Dulquer.

‘Charlie’ directed by Martin Prakkat was a huge hit, both critically and commercially. The film starring Dulquer Salmaan and Parvathy as the leads went on to win several accolades as well. It is learnt that the Tamil version has been tweaked slightly to suit the sensibilities of the Tamil audience.

In the Tamil version, Shraddha Srinath is reprising Parvathy’s character from the original while Sshivada reprises the role played by Aparna Gopinath. Abhirami, Kishore, MS Baskar, Guru Somasundaram, veteran Moulee, Seema and Alexander Babu will be seen in other major roles. The film has music scored by Ghibran.

Sriram Raghavan’s next after Andhadhun is with Vijay Sethupathi

Sriram Raghavan stunned everyone with his dark-comedy thriller ‘Andhadhun’. The film went on to win several accolades including a couple of National awards. It is also getting remade in multiple languages. After ‘Andhadhun’, the director was supposed to work on ‘Ekkis’, a new film starring his ‘Badlapur’ actor Varun Dhawan. However, that project has now been put on hold as it involves a huge budget and it would not be feasible due to the current pandemic situation.

Sriram Raghavan instead is planning to make another film with Tamil actor Vijay Sethupathi. It will be a Hindi film with an intriguing concept. It is reported that the actor has already given his nod and they might start works soon. An official announcement is expected to be made in the coming days.

Vijay Sethupathi is starring in another Hindi film titled ‘Mumbaikar’. Directed by Santosh Sivan, it is the official remake of hit Tamil film ‘Maanagaram’. The Hindi version also stars Vikrant Massey, Sanjay Mishra, Tanya Maniktala, Ranvir Shorey, Hridhu Haroon and Sachin Khedekar.
