Mammootty’s dashing look in his new ad film grabs eyeballs!

It was only last week that superstar Mammootty stepped outside his home after staying indoors all through the lockdown days. He recently shot for an ad for the education app, Xylem. The app is designed particularly for NEET and JEE aspiring students.

Last day, the ad got released online through Mammootty’s Facebook page. As expected, the ad has grabbed attention in social medias. During his 275-day long stay at home, Mammootty had grown his hair long. This stunning new bearded look coupled with his powerful baritone voice works perfectly in the 1-minute-long video.

Meanwhile, fans are eagerly waiting to hear about which project Mammootty will be shooting for next. Buzz is that he might team up with director Amal Neerad for a small-scale project before they begin works on the much-hyped ‘Bilal’. The star has also committed for a film to be helmed by debutante Ratheena Sharshad.

Eagerly waiting for Naayaattu ever since I heard its first thought: Prithviraj

The first look poster of Martin Prakkat’s comeback film ‘Naayaattu’ got released online last day. It stars Kunchacko Boban, Joju George and Nimisha Sajayan in the lead roles. Expectations are high on the film as was evident from the response for the first look poster. Sharing the poster through his official Facebook page, actor Prithviraj wrote that it is one film he has been looking forward to ever since he heard its first thought from Ranjith, who is also the film’s producer.

Prithviraj has written,

It was during Koode that Renjiettan told me about this thought he had heard from another writer. Ever since that day, I’ve been looking forward to that film being made. Now, with a film maker like Martin, a cinematographer like Shyju, a cast that includes Chackochan, Joju, Nimisha, Vinay and many more, and the quality of the team they have managed to assemble behind the camera, NAYATTU has to definitely be one of the most anticipated films in Malayalam.

‘Naayaattu’ is said to be a crime thriller in which all the three lead actors essay cop roles; civil police officers to be more precise. The film is scripted by Shahi Kabir of ‘Joseph’ fame. Shyju Khalid is the cinematographer and music is by Vishnu Vijay of ‘Guppy’ and ‘Ambili’ fame. Filmmaker Mahesh Narayanan is handling the edits.

Malayankunj: Fahadh Faasil’s next announced

Fahadh Faasil has just announced that he will next starting shooting for a film titled ‘Malayankunj’. His father, veteran director Fazil is producing this film. Mahesh Narayanan is scripting the film and debutant Sajimon is directing it. The makers have informed that shoot will be beginning in January 2021.

Fahadh Faasil had earlier committed for a project with Sajimon, who has associated with directors like VK Prakash, Venu, Vysakh and Mahesh Narayanan. Joju George was also part of that film. Veteran Rafi penned the script and Badhushah, a leading production controller in Malayalam film industry, was supposed to producer the film. However, the project got shelved in the initial stages itself.

Later, Mahesh Narayanan, with whom Fahadh has worked in ‘Take Off’, ‘C U Soon’ and ‘Malik’, decided to script ‘Malayankunj’ with Sajimon directing it. Details regarding its genre are still not known. The film has Sushin Shyam as the music director and Arju Benn as the editor. Sound designers Vishnu Shankar-Sree Govind, production designer Jyothish Shankar, costumer Dhanya Balakrishnan, production controller Benny Kattappana and make up artist Ranjith Ambady are also part of the team.

Rajinikanth’s Annaatthe shooting all set to resume!

On the occasion of superstar Rajinikanth’s birthday, the makers of his upcoming film ‘Annaatthe’ have informed that film’s shoot will be resuming from December 15. Due to the Covid-19 situation, the makers had stalled shoot for the last few months. Finally, they have decided to go ahead with shoot by following all the safety protocols.

‘Annaatthe’ directed by Siva is said to be a rural-based mass entertainer. The film has a star-studded cast, which includes four female leads — Keerthy Suresh, Meena, Khushbu and Nayanthara. Prakash Raj, Sathish, Vela Ramamoorthy, Soori, Bala and many others are part of the supporting cast.

‘Annatthe’ is expected to be on the lines of director Siva’s previous film ‘Viswasam’ with prominence to family emotions. Unconfirmed reports suggest that it is the story of an endearing brother-sister relationship. Rajinikanth and Keerthy Suresh are said to be playing siblings in the film while Nayanthara will be seen as the superstar’s pair.

‘Annatthe’ has music by Imman, cinematography by Vetri and edits handed by Ruben. Sun Pictures is producing the film.

It was recently announced that the ‘Pyaar Prema Kadhal’ trio of Harish Kalyan, music director Yuvan Shankar Raja and director Elan would be coming together again for a new project. The makers have officially announced the project by sharing the first look poster. The film has been titled as ‘Star’ and its first look features Harish Kalyan in a strikingly similar get up to Rajinikanth from the yesteryear classic ‘Thalapathi’. Interestingly, the poster got released on Rajinikanth’s birthday as a special tribute to him.

‘Star’ will be focussing on three stages of the hero’s life — when he is a child, a young adult, and then at adulthood. Harish Kalyan, who recently found success with ‘Dhaarala Prabhu’, will be seen essaying the central character. The team is planning to start shooting in February, 2021.

Gautham Menon heaps praise on Kalidas Jayaram’s performance in Paava Kadhaigal

Netflix’s maiden Tamil anthology, ‘Paava Kadhaigal’ is gearing up for release on December 18. Gautham Vasudev Menon, Vetrimaaran, Sudha Kongara and Vignesh Shivan are helming a short film each in this anthology. ‘Paava Kadhaigal’, which translates to sin stories, has four storylines that will showcase how love, pride, sin and honour influence complex human relationships.

In a recent interview, director Gautham Menon showered praise of Kalidas Jayaram’s performance in the film. The latter is essaying the central character in Sudha Kongara’s film titled ‘Thankam’. Kalidas plays a trans person’s role in it. According to Gautham Menon, the trans angle is very beautifully depicted in the film and Kalidas’ performance as the trans person Sathar is worth a mention. The director also sounded impressed with how well Sudha has conceived the film. Titled as ‘Thangam’, it also has Shanthanu Bhagyaraj and Bhavani Sre.

As confirmed by the directors themselves, ‘Paava Kadhaigal’ will be a very intense film with several hard-hitting moments in it. The film will explore the intricacies of complex relationships through these gut-wrenching stories.

Vignesh Shivan’s film titled as ‘Love Panna Uttranum’ will be the quirkiest of the four. It stars Anjali and Bollywood actress Kalki Koechlin as the leads. In Vetrimaaran’s film, ‘Or Iravu’, Sai Pallavi and Prakash Raj essay the lead roles. Gautham Menon’s film has been titled as ‘Vaanmagal’ and it has the director himself playing the main lead along with Simran.

Last day, the smashing, action-packed teaser of Atharvaa Murali starrer ‘Kuruthi Aattam’ got released online. The film is directed by Sri Ganesh, who made an impressive debut with ‘8 Thottakal’. His sophomore film looks like a Madurai based gangster story with lot of action and bloodshed in it. The teaser has managed to grab attention in social medias.

As per the makers, the film is centered around an endearing relationship between Atharvaa’s character and a young girl. Priya Bhavani Shankar of ‘Meyaadha Maan’ fame plays the female lead. Veteran actress Radhika Sarath Kumar will be seen in a prominent, larger-than-life role. From the teaser, it looks like a grey shared character. Others in the cast include Radha Ravi, Kanna Ravi and Vatsan Chakravarthi.

‘Kuruthi Aattam’ has music composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Dinesh Purushothaman has cranked the camera and edits are being handled by Anil Krish. The film is produced by T Muruganantham of Rockfort Entertainment.

Guneet Monga boards India’s Oscar entry Jallikattu as Executive Producer!

As we already know, Malayali filmmaker Lijo Jose Pellissery’s ‘Jallikattu’ is India’s official entry to the Oscars this year. Guneet Monga, the founder of the popular production house Sikhya Entertainment, has jointly the team as Executive Producer. They had recently co-produced the Suriya starrer ‘Soorarai Pottru’.

Guneet Monga is one of the most revered names in the film industry. In 2018, her production venture, ‘Period. End Of Sentence’ had won the Academy Award for Best Documentary (Short Subject). She has also produced several other critically acclaimed projects like the ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ franchise, ‘Peddlers’, ‘Masaan’, and ‘The Lunchbox’.

Guneet Monga is one of the first Indian producers to be inducted into the producer branch of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts And Sciences. So her association with ‘Jallikattu’ could prove to be a huge booster for the team. According to Lijo Jose Pellissery, Gueent Monga was one of the first to watch ‘Jalikattu’ after its completion.

About ‘Jallikattu’, Guneet said, it is a high-octane masterpiece backed by outstanding music and stunning visuals. She also added a few words about Lijo Jose Pellissery. “Lijo is a phenomenal director who has the power to disrupt the global cinema. He is a significant voice from India and cinema needs fresh vision like his.”

‘Jallikattu’ had earlier premiered at the Toronto International Fim Festival (TIFF). Later, it was screened at all major film festivals across the world including Busan, London, Rotterdam and Stockholm. Lijo even won best director at the International Film Festival of India, Goa, in 2019. It was his second successive award after bagging it for ‘Ee Maa Yau’.

Ajay Devgn’s Maidaan to be released in multiple languages; Release date announced

Ajay Devgn’s football based film ‘Maidaan’ will be releasing worldwide on October 15, 2021. As announced by the makers, it will be out in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam languages. Directed by ‘Badhaai Ho’ fame Amit Sharma, the film is based on the life of Syed Abdul Rahim, called as the father of Indian football. Boney Kapoor, Akash Chawla and Arunava Joy Sengupta are jointly producing the film.

Syed Abdul Rahim is a former Indian football coach. He was also known as the architect of modern football in India. He had lead Indian football team to the semifinals of 1956 Melbourne Olympics. The film is set in the time period of 1956-62, which was the golden era of Indian football.

‘Maidaan’ has South Indian actress Priya Mani as the female lead. Initially, the makers had signed Keerthy Suresh for this part but she later opted out due to other commitments. The fjlm also stars Gajraj Rao and Rudranil Ghosh in important roles.

The first look poster of Suraj Venjaramoodu’s upcoming film ‘Roy’ has been released online. Actor Jayasurya shared the poster through his social media handle. The poster features Suraj and Sija Rose. ‘Roy’ is written and directed by Sunil Ibrahim, who has previously made films like ‘Arikil Oraal’, ‘Chapters’ and ‘Y’.

‘Roy’ comes with the tagline, Realities of Yesterday. The film is a family-oriented thriller centered around a couple. The titular character Roy essayed by Suraj Venjaramoodu is an introvert, a bit strange and silent, and his wife has a different perspective about life. Suraj and Sija will be seen as the married couple in the film. The story revolves around their peculiar relationship and the incidents that take place in their life. Shine Tom Chacko and Jins Baskar are essaying the other major roles.

‘Roy’ has cinematography by Jayesh Mohan of ‘Mayaanadhi’ fame. V Saajan is in charge of the edits and music department is handled by Munna PM. Sajeesh Manjeri and Sanoob K Yousef are jointly producing the film.
