Nimisha plays Adil Hussain’s daughter in Footprints on Water

Malayalam actress Nimisha Sajayan is currently shooting in the UK for British-Indian production film titled as ‘Footprints on Water’. The film is directed by Nathalia Syam and written by her sister Neeta Syam. Bollywood actor Adil Hussain, Antonio Akeel and Malayalam actress Lena are also essaying important roles in it.

Nimisha will be seen as Adil Hussain’s daughter in the film. The actress has shared photos taken with the veteran in her Instagram handle. Adil, a National-award winning actor, works in art house cinema, mainstream Bollywood as well as international cinema. He has starred in English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Tamil, Marathi, Malayalam, Norwegian and French films.

In ‘Footprints on Water’, Adil plays a character named Raghu, who is an illegal immigrant. The story is about his desperate search for his missing daughter in Birmingham. Nimisha essays the daughter character named Meera and Lena plays his second wife’s role. The film will showcase the issues faced by diverse ethnic groups that struggle to find a better living in modern UK.

Since it deals with an international topic, the film will have dialogues in various languages including English, Malayalam, Tamil and Hindi.

Confirmed: Forensic all set to be remade in Hindi

Superhit Malayalam film ‘Forensic’ is all set to be remade in Hindi. Mansi Bagla of Mini Films has bagged the remake rights and Vikrant Massey will be playing the lead role in the Hindi version. The makers are yet to announce the director’s name. Apart from ‘Forensic’, the same banner has also acquired rights of couple of other South Indian thriller films.

Talking about Forensic, Vikrant Massey is quoted saying to TOI, “When I saw Forensic, I was immediately hooked to it. It is an intelligent film that keeps you on tenterhooks. At the same time, it is an out-and-out entertainr. I’m really looking forward to collaborating with Mini Films and I am glad to be leading the Hindi remake.”

The film’s producer Mansi Bagla feels that it is not often that you see a crime getting solved through a forensic officer’s perspective and that makes this film unique. She also added that Vikrant is the perfect choice for the role. The actor is noted for his performance in films like ‘A Death in the Gunj’, ‘Lipstick Under My Burkha’ and ‘Chhapaak’.

We had recently reported that director Lal Jose’s next film will have Soubin Shahir and Mamta Mohandas as the leads. Dr Iqbal Kuttippuram is scripting the film, which is set majorly in Dubai. Shoot kick-started yesterday in Dubai and the makers have shared photos of the same in social medias. Soubin is sporting a different look in the film with an salt-and-pepper Amish beard.

This yet-to-be titled film has Soubin and Mamta Mohandas as a married couple. The story is set in two different timelines of their lives. Along with them, veteran Salim Kumar will also be seen in a major role. Justin Varghese, who had composed music for films like ‘Njandukalude Naatil Oridavela’ and ‘Thanneer Mathan Dhinangal’, has been signed as the music director.

It is Lal Jose-Iqbal Kuttippuram combo’s fourth film together after ‘Arabikatha’, ‘Diamond Necklace’ and ‘Vikramadithyan’. Interestingly, the first two films were also centered around the lives of Malayalis living in Dubai. Some NRI Malayalis are also acting in this upcoming film.

Last day, the makers of Simbu’s new film ‘Eeswaran’ released the first single online. The song titled ‘Tamizhan Paattu’ is set to tunes by Thaman S and Yugabharathi has penned the lyrics. Ananthu, Deepak and Thaman have lent the vocals for the song, which sounds like a mass hero intro number.

‘Eeswaran’ is highly anticipated by Simbu fans as it marks his comeback after a long break. Prior to the film’s shoot, the actor had undergone a massive transformation by shedding oodles of weight. With a lean bearded look, the actor looks young and robust similar to appearance in his early 2000 films.

‘Eeswaran’ written and directed by Susienthiran is said to be a family entertainer set in a rural backdrop. Veteran filmmaker Bharathiraja is playing an important role in the film. Nidhi Aggarwal plays the female lead. The film has Thaman handling the music department and Tirru in charge of cinematography. It is produced by Madhav Media and D Company. The makers have announced the film as a grand Pongal 2021 release.

Asif Ali to play a communist leader in Ellam Sheriyaakum

As reported by us earlier, Asif Ali is teaming up with ‘Vellimoonga’ director Jibu Jacob for a new film titled ‘Ellam Sheriyaakum’. Shoot is set to begin on December 18 in Erattupetta. Three newcomers Sharis, Shalbin and Nebin are scripting the film, which is said to be a political drama with a satirical tone.

It must be remembered that, director Jibu Jacob’s maiden film ‘Vellimoonga’ also had shades of a political satire. Biju played the role of a crooked politician in the film that also had Asif in a crucial cameo role. In ‘Ellam Sheriyaakum’, Asif will be seen as a youth leader of the left-wing party.

Rajisha Vijayan has been roped in as the female lead. Asif and Rajisha Vijayan are acting together after the superhit success of ‘Anuraga Karikkin Vellam’. The cast also includes Sudheer Karamana, Siddique, Kalabhavan Shajohn and Sethulakshmi among others.

‘Ellam Sheriyakum’ is being produced by Thomas Thiruvalla and Dr Paul Varghese under the banner of Dr Paul’s Entertainment. On the technical front, Sreejith Nair will ne cranking the camera. Music department will be handled by veteran Ouseppachan and Sooraj ES is trusted with the edits.

Rajinikanth resumes shooting for Annaatthe in Hyderabad

Superstar Rajinikanth has resumed shooting for ‘Annaatthe’ in Hyderabad. His daughter Aishwarya, who accompanies him at the sets, shared a photo from the shooting spot in her Instagram handle. The film is directed by Siva and produced by Sun Pictures. Due to the Covid-19 situation, the makers had stalled shoot for the last few months. After waiting for the situation to get better, the makers have now decided to go ahead with shoot by following all the safety protocols.

‘Annatthe’ is said to be a rural-based mass entertainer. It is expected to be on the lines of director Siva’s previous film ‘Viswasam’ with prominence to family emotions. Unconfirmed reports suggest that it is the story of an endearing brother-sister relationship. Rajinikanth and Keerthy Suresh are said to be playing siblings in the film while Nayanthara will be seen as the superstar’s pair. Meena, Khushbu and Nayanthara. Bala, Prakash Raj, Vela Ramamoorthy, Soori and many others are part of the supporting cast.

Anna Ben and Sunny Wayne are coming together for a new film titled Sara’s. Jude Anthany Joseph is directing the film. Its first look poster featuring Anna Ben got released online last day. From the poster, we presume that Anna plays an assistant director’s role in the film.

Sara’s scripted by Akshay Hareesh is touted to be a rom-com entertainer. Nimish Ravi of ‘Luca’ and ‘Kurup’ fame is handling the camera. Shaan Rahman, who had composed music for Jude’s first two films — ‘Om Shanthi Oshana’ and ‘Oru Muthassi Gadha’, has been retained for this film as well. Riyas Badhar is the editor.

Debutant Sarov Shanmugam is directing a new kids-centric film that has Arnav as the lead. Arun Vijay and Vijayakumar are also said to be part of the cast. The film will have cinematography by Gopinath and music by Nivas K Prasanna. Actor Suriya’s own production house 2D Entertainment is producing backing the film. Its launch was held today in Chennai.

Arun Vijay broke the news by tweeting,

Viraata Parvam: First teaser out on Rana Daggubati’s birthday

Telugu star Rana Daggubati, best known for his performance as the antagonist in ‘Baahubali’, is celebrating his 36th birthday today. On this special occasion, the makers of his new film ‘Viraata Parvam’ have released the first teaser online. The film written and directed by Venu Udugula is inspired from true events. Set in the interiors of Telangana, the film sheds light on the Naxal issues during the 90s.

From the teaser, we presume that Rana plays a Naxal leader in the film. Sai Pallavi is paired with him. She is also said to be essaying a very challenging character. The star-studded cast also includes Priyamani, Nanditha Das, Naveen Chandra, Zareena Wahab, Nivetha Pethuraj, Rahul Ramakrishna, Eswari Rao and Sai Chand.

‘Viraata Parvam’ has cinematography by Divakar Mani and music by Suresh Bobbili. D Suresh Babu and Sudhakar Cherukuri are producing the film under the banners of Suresh Productions and Sri Lakshmi Venkateswara Cinemas.

Legendary art director P Krishnamoorthy passes away

Veteran art director and production designer P Krishnamoorthy has passed away. The 77-year-old breathed his last on Sunday (December 13) night. His last rites will be performed at his residence in Madipakkam in Chennai.

Krishnamoorthy has worked in over 55 films in Tamil, Telugu, Sanskrit, Malayalam, Hindi and English languages. In Malayalam alone, he has worked in over 15 films. Some of his most popular works came in South Indian films like ‘Swathi Thirunal’, ‘Vaisali’, ‘Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha’, ‘Perumthachan’, ‘Indira’, ‘Parinayam’, ‘Imsai Arasan 23aam Pulikesi’, ‘Naan Kadavul’ etc.

In his illustrious career, Krishnamoorthy has won five National Film Awards— three for Best Art Direction and two for Best Costume Design. Interestingly, two of these awards— Best Art Direction and Best Costume Design came for the same film ‘Bharati’ that got released in 2000. In addition to that, he has also won five Kerala State Film Awards and four Tamil Nadu State Film Awards.
