Fahadh Faasil’s Malayankunj is a survival drama

Last day, Fahadh Faasil had announced his new project, ‘Malayankunj’. His father, veteran director Fazil is producing the film. Mahesh Narayanan is scripting the film and debutant Sajimon is directing it. In an interview to The Cue, the latter has confirmed that the film is a survival drama that tells the story of a few ordinary people. Casting and other pre-production works are in the final stages. It has also been informed that shoot will be beginning by the end of January.

Director Sajimon has worked as an associate with fikmmakers like like VK Prakash, Venu, Vysakh and Mahesh Narayanan. Fahadh Faasil was initially supposed to team up for another project with Sajimon but it didn’t work out due to various reasons. Later, when Mahesh Narayanan pitched the story of ‘Malayankunj’ to Fahadh, he was impressed by it and that’s how the project materialized.

It was also Fahadh’s long time wish to work with his father, Fazil. The two last worked together in ‘Kaiyethum Doorathu’, Fahadh’s debut film. When Fahadh, Mahesh Narayanan and Sajimon discussed the subject of ‘Malayankunj’ with Fazil, he instantly agreed to produce it.

The makers have assembled a talented technical crew. Sushin Shyam is the music director and Arju Benn, the editor. Sound designers Vishnu Shankar-Sree Govind, production designer Jyothish Shankar, costumer Dhanya Balakrishnan, production controller Benny Kattappana and make up artist Ranjith Ambady are also part of the team.
