Nani, Sai Pallavi and Madonna Sebastian to star in Shyam Singha Roy

Nani’s 27th film went on floors today with a customary pooja ceremony. Titled as ‘Shyam Singha Roy’, the film is helmed by Rahul Sankrityan, who made his directorial debut with the Vijay Deverakonda-starrer ‘Taxiwala’. The first clap at the film’s launch ceremony was given by Nani’s father Ghanta Rambabu. Shiva Nirvana and Venky Kudumula handed over the film’s script to the makers and Merlapaka Gandhi switched on the camera. The first shot was directed by Anil Ravipudi.

‘Shyam Singha Roy’ has three female leads in Sai Pallavi, Krithi Shetty and Malayalam actress Madonna Sebastian. It is worth a mention that Sai Pallavi and Nani have worked together previously in ‘Middle Class Abbayi’. Their on-screen chemistry in it was well received.

‘Shyam Singha Roy’ is scripted by Shiva Nirvana and Venky Kudumula. ‘Mahanati’ fame Mickey J Meyer is handling the music department and cinematography is by Sanu John Varghese. He was also the DOP of Nani’s ‘Jersey’. The film is being produced by Niharika Entertainment.

Prithviraj’s 2017 horror flick ‘Ezra’ is getting remade in Hindi with Emraan Hashmi in the lead. Jay R Krishnan, who directed the original, is helming the remake as well. The Hindi version, which is also titled as ‘Ezra’, went on floors last year in July. Due to the Covid-19 threat, shoot was stalled for the last few months. Earlier in the day, Emraan shared a photo taken with director Jay K at the location.

The original ‘Ezra’ starring Prithviraj, Priya Anand and Tovino Thomas was a big commercial success. The film was noted for the novelty in the plot and its top quality production values, a rarity in Malayalam horror films. It is believed to be the first Indian movie with a horror theme set in a Jewish backdrop. It will be interesting to see how the makers have adapted the Hindi version.

Meanwhile, Jay K had also directed a short segment for an anthology that also has films helmed by Venu, Aashiq Abu and Rajeev Ravi. Jay’s film is scripted by Santhosh Echikanam and it stars Joju George and Samyuktha Menon. Earlier this year, the director had announced another film titled ‘Grrr’. Kunchacko Boban and Suraj Venjaramoodu will be playing the lead roles in it. As per the makers, it will be a feel-good comedy entertainer centered around inter-personal relationships. After the compeltion of ‘Ezra’ Hindi remake, Jay is expected to start works on ‘Grrr’.

Priyadarshan confirms teaming up with Akshay Kumar for a comic thriller

Ace filmmaker Priyadarshan has confirmed that he is reuniting with Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar for a comic thriller. The actor-duo had earlier worked together in some superhit films like ‘Hera Pheri’, ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ and ‘Garam Masala’. Their new film was originally supposed to go on floors this December but has now been pushed to September, 2021. Akshay himself will be producing the film. Priyadarshan has often said that there’s a great comfort factor while working with Akshay Kumar and that has reflected on the success of their films.

Priyadarshan also has the sequel of ‘Hunagama’ in the making. The film stars Paresh Rawal, Shilpa Shetty, Meezaan Jaffrey and Pranitha Subhash. Only the climax portions of the film remain to be shot. Since the sequence demands a huge crowd of over 300-400 people, the makers have decided to wait till the Covid-19 situation gets better.

Meanwhile, the release of ‘Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham’, touted to be Priyadarshan’s magnum opus, is still uncertain. The mammoth project made on a budget of around Rs 100 crore was initially scheduled for theatre release on March 28. However, due to the Covid-19 outbreak, release plans had to be dropped. The makers have made it clear that the will be the film will be out in theatres only when a simultaneous worldwide release is possible.

Drishyam 2 first look teaser to be out on Christmas Day!

Latest buzz is that this Christmas, we might get to catch the first glimpse of ‘Drishyam 2’. The makers are planning to release the first look teaser on December 25 and an official word regarding the same is expected to be out soon. Post-prodcution works are currently progressing in full swing as ‘Drishyam’ 2 has been planned as Mohanlal’s first release once theatres resume functioning.

‘Drishyam 2’ is written and directed by Jeethu Joseph. Along with Mohanlal, actors like Meena, Ansiba Hassan, Siddique, Asha Sharath, Aneesh Menon and Esther Anil are also reprising their roles from the first part. Murali Gopy, Ganesh Kumar, Sai Kumar, Adam Ayub and Anjali Nair are the some of the new additions to the cast.

The film’s technical core crew includes DOP Satheesh Kurup, music director Anil Johnson, editor Vinayakan, art director Rajeev Kovilakam and costume designer Linda Jeethu. Antony Perumbavoor is producing it under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas.

Shane Nigam’s long delayed film ‘Veyil’ has finally been censored. As per reports, the Censor Board officials were impressed with the film and granted it a clean U certificate. Debutant Sarath Menon is directing the film and Joby George of Goodwill Entertainments is producing it.

‘Veyil’ has to be one of the most talked about Malayalam films in recent years. It all started when Shane Nigam made serious allegations against producer Joby George of giving him death threats. The producer on his part accused Shane of unprofessional behaviour. Finally, after the intervention of various parties, shoot resumed. However, things worsened when Shane walked out of the location and shaved his hair as a protest against the crew. This lead to the youngster getting a temporary ban from Malayalam film industry. All the issues were settled after multiple rounds of discussions.

The makers will be hoping that all the struggle and efforts that went behind the making of ‘Veyil’ is worth it. From whatever we get to see from the trailer, it looks like a coming-of-age story of a youngster named Siddharth. Merin Jose Pottackal, James Eliya, Shine Tom Chacko, Sudhi Koppa and many others are part of the cast. On the technical front, popular Tamil playback singer Pradeep Kumar is composing music for this film. Camera is cranked by Shaz Mohammed and Praveen Prabhakar is handling the edits.

The growth and popularity of OTT platforms have been phenomenal in the past couple of years. With the pandemic-induced lockdown, more people have turned to these platforms, where they can watch wide range of content at an affordable rate from their home comfort. According to a statement released by streaming giant Netflix, India has the highest viewership of films on their platform globally.

Netflix have also released their annual list of films watched by their users. According to them, over 80% of users in India have watched a film every week since last year. The annual list includes films, TV shows, reality shows and kids shows.

Malayalam film ‘Kappela’ and the Dulquer Salmaan starrer ‘Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal’ found a place in the top 10 films this year. Other films in the list include Allu Arjun’s ‘Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo’ and ‘Uma Maheswara Ugra Roopasya’, the Telugu remake of ‘Maheshinte Prathikaram’. Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer ‘Raat Akeli Hai’, was the most popular thriller film in India. ‘Malang’, ‘Extraction’ and ‘The Old Guard’ were the most popular action films, while the recently released Anurag Basu directorial ‘Ludo’ turned out to be the most popular comedy film. ‘Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl’ is the most popular drama film.

Salman Khan’s new Singh cop look from Antim revealed!

Last day, Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s fans were in for a huge surprise. His brother-in-law Aayush Sharma took to his social media handle to reveal the look of the Salman from the upcoming film, ‘Antim: The Final Truth’. Aayush shared a video in which Salman is seen walking towards a vegetable market and later reveals his overall look. Wearing a navy blue shirt, grey trousers, a turban and a pair of sunglasses, the superstar looked stunningly fit in the new avatar.

Popular medias like Bollywood Hungama have reported that Salman plays a Sikh police officer in this film, which is shaping up as an action drama. It is said to be more of an extended cameo role. He has allotted a schedule of around 20-25 days for the film. The makers had recently shot an extensive chase sequence on the busy streets with Aayush and the supporting cast. They then moved to ND Studios in Karjat and on to Mumbai’s western suburb, Versova.

Official: ‘Kolamavu Kokila’ fame Nelson to direct Thalapathy 65

For long, there have been speculations about who will be directing Vijay’s next film after ‘Master’. Though names like AR Murugadoss, Atlee and Sudha Kongara had been doing the rounds, it is Nelson Dilipkumar who has bagged the big opportunity. The two-film-old Nelson will be helming ‘Thalapathy 65′ and Sun Pictures will be producing it. Anirudh Ravichander will be composing the music. The film’s official announcement was made just a while back through Sun Pictures’ official Twitter handle. Producer Kalanithi Maran, Vijay and director Nelson feature in the announcement video.

Nelson started his career in entertainment industry by scripting and directing shows for Star Vijay channel. In 2010, he started works of his debut movie ‘Vettai Mannan’ with Simbu, Hansika Motwani and Deeksha Seth as the leads. However, the movie got shelved for some unknown reasons.

It took another 8 years for Nelson to make his maiden feature film. His directorial debut ‘Kolamavu Kokila’ had Nayanthara playing the central character. The film emerged successful at the box office and Nelson’s filmmaking skills got noted. His second film ‘Doctor’ starring Sivakarthikeyan is currently under production. Anirudh composed music for both these films.

Apparently, it is Anirudh who got Nelson to narrate a script to Vijay during the lockdown days. The star was highly impressed by it and decided to go ahead with it as his immediate next. More details regarding ‘Thalapathy 65’ are expected to be out soon.

Vijay Sethupathi, Nayanthara and Samantha are coming together for a new rom-com flick titled as ‘Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal’. It is written and directed by Vignesh Shivan. 7 Screen Studios and the director’s own banner Rowdy Pictures are jointly producing the film. Shoot for the film has formally begun today. Though the makers had planned to start shooting in August, it got delayed due to the pandemic threat.

‘Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal’ is said to be a triangular love story. Expectations are already high on the film as this is the first time Vijay Sethupathi, Nayanthara and Samantha are sharing screen space. It is indeed a dream star cast and fans are excited to see the three of them together.

‘Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal’ has music composed by young sensation Anirudh Ravichander. He has collaborated with Vignesh Shivan multiple times in the past. So Anirudh is most likely to come up with yet another quality album.
