Dhyan Sreenivasan, Aju Varghese and Tanvi Ram in Khali Purse of the Billionaires

Dhyan Sreenivasan, Aju Varghese and ‘Ambili’ fame Tanvi Ram are teaming up for a new film titled ‘Khali Purse of the Billionaires’. Maxwell Jose is directing the film, which will be a proper entertainer. Dhyan and Aju, who are close friends in real life as well, will be seen playing the roles of IT entrepreneurs in the film. The two essay characters named Bibin Das and Bibin Vijay, who are called Dasan and Vijayan by their friends. The character names are popular to the Malayali audience from the iconic yesteryear flick ‘Nadodikattu’.

‘Khali Purse of the Billionaires’ tells the story of these two youngsters who chase their dream. Tanvi plays Nidhi, a karate blackbelt holder, who wishes to purse the martial art seriously. She is paired with Dhyan in the film. The cast also includes Sunny Wayne in a cameo role. Lena, Rajini Haridas, Ramesh Pisharody and Dharmajan Bolgatty are also part of the film.

Shoot is currently progressing in Kochi.

One of South India’s leading heroines, Samantha Akkineni has come out heaping praise on the recently released Suriya starrer ‘Soorarai Pottru’. In her Twitter post, she called it the film of the year. She also mentioned director Sudha Kongara and lead actress Aparna Balamurali. Samantha’s tweet reads,

Suriya, who has worked with Samantha in ’24’ and ‘Anjaan’, acknowledged by tweeting,

Earlier, several leading celebrities from the South including Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu and Vijay Deverakonda had showered praise on the makers of ‘Soorarai Pottru’. The film directed by Sudha Kongara is based on the real life of Captain GR Gopinath, the founder of Air Deccan. It tells the story of a common man’s journey from humble backgrounds to accomplish his dream of launching his own aircraft business with the aim of serving the underprivileged.

‘Soorarai Pottru’ is currently streaming in Amazon Prime Video.

Nimisha begins shooting for Footprints on Water in London

Malayalam actress Nimisha Sajayan will next be a part of a British-Indian production film. Titled as ‘Footprints on Water’, the film is directed by Nathalia Syam and written by her sister Neeta Syam. The film also stars Bollywood actor Adil Hussain, Antonio Akeel and Malayalam actress Lena in key roles.

‘Footprints on Water’ is basically a thriller centred around an illegal immigrant family based in London. Nimisha has already landed in UK for the shoot. Adil Hussain plays her father’s role in the film and Lena will be seen as his second wife.

The story is about an illegal immigrant’s desperate search for his missing daughter in Birmingham. The film will showcase the issues faced by diverse ethnic groups that struggle to find a better living in modern UK.

Since it deals with an international topic, the film will have dialogues in various languages including English, Malayalam, Tamil and Hindi.

Vetrimaaran’s film with Soori all set to go on floors!

Last year, ace filmmaker Vetrimaaran had earlier announced that he would making a film with actor Soori in the lead. The project was supposed to kick-start in the first half of this year. But due to the pandemic, all plans had to be put on hold. Initially, Vetrimaaran had planned to make a movie based on late lyricist Na Muthukumar’s poem ‘Pattampoochi Virpavan’. However, things didn’t work out and he instead decided to adapt Meeran Moideen’s ‘Ajnabi’ into a feature film. Since its storyline is set in Dubai and due to the pandemic-induced restrictions, the makers had to drop that idea.

Finally, Vetrimaaran has confirmed that his next film with Soori will be based on the short story ‘Thunaivan’ written by Jeyamohan. The story was first published in the magazine, Ananda Vikatan in 1992. Jeyamohan has previously collaborated with various top directors in Tamil and Malayalam. He was recently associated with some biggies like ‘Papanasam’, ‘2.0’, ‘Sarkar’, ‘Indian 2’, ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ etc. ‘Thunaivan’ marks his first time union with Vetrimaaran.

Shoot is scheduled to start on December 8 in Sathyamangalam. Along with Soori, veteran filmmaker Bharathiraja will also be seen in an important role.

After the sensational success of ‘KGF: Chapter 1’, Hombale Films and director Prashanth Neel are teaming up once again. They have roped in ‘Baahubali’ star Prabhas for a new film titled ‘Salaar’. Its official announcement was made just a while back through social medias. The first look poster features Prabhas with a gun in his hand. He plays the titular character in the film. From the tagline, ‘The most violent men.. called one man.. the most violent’, we can make out that it will be a full-on action flick.

Announcing the project through his Twitter handle, director Prashanth Neel wrote,

Nithin Renji Panicker’s upcoming film ‘Kaaval’ starring Suresh Gopi is a much anticipated one. It marks the veteran star’s comeback to mass genre after a long gap and fans are highly excited about it. The teaser and location stills released so far have also been highly promising.

Director Nithin has assured that the film has elements that Suresh Gopi fans in the ’90s loved to see. According to him, ‘Kaaval’ is a movie that is in Suresh Gopi’s comfort zone. He plays a character named Thamban. Interestingly, the character in the film also has a trope of making a comeback. The film has him in two get ups — one aged between 55-60 and the other as his younger self.

‘Kaaval’ is basically an action-packed family drama. The story is set in the high ranges of Idukki and spans across different timelines. Along with Suresh Gopi, Renji Panicker will also be seen in a full-length character named Antony. The cast also includes Zaya David, Alencier Ley Lopez, IM Vijayan, Sujith Shankar, Kichu Tellus, Binu Pappu, Santhosh Keezhattoor, Muthumani and Pathamaraj Ratheesh among others.

National award winner Nikhil S Praveen is the film’s DOP. Mansoor Muthutty is the editor and Ranjin Raj of ‘Joseph’ fame handles the music department. Joby George of Goodwill Entertainments is producing the film.

As announced earlier, the title and first look poster of Pa Ranjith’s upcoming film with Arya has been unveiled. Titled as ‘Sarpatta Parambarai’, the film has Arya playing a boxer. The first look poster features him inside a boxing ring with crowd cheering. Arya looks absolutely stunning in the poster as he flaunts his ripped physique.

‘Sarpatta Parambarai’ is expected to be on the lines of Pa Ranjith’s earlier films that were noted for its powerful discussion of caste and politics. This new film will explore the boxing clubs culture in North Madras in the 1990s and deal with topics like oppression and discrimination that happens in the field of kick-boxing. ‘Madras’ fame Kalaiarasan and John Kokken will also be seen in key roles as boxers. Dushara Vijayan plays the female lead.

Ace scenarist Reghunath Paleri is all set to make a comeback after 14 long years. Shanavas K Bavakkutty of ‘Kismath’ and ‘Thottappan’ fame will be directing the film. From Paleri’s Facebook post, it is evident that his new film is a romantic-family entertainer. More details regarding the cast and crew members are expected to be out in the coming days.

Ragunath Paleri is one of the most revered scenarists of the 80s and 90s Malayalam cinema. In that period, he had scripted several popular films like ‘My Dear Kuttichathan’, ‘Ponmuttayidunna Tharavu’, ‘Mazhavil Kavadi’, ‘Meleparambil Aanveedu’, ‘Pingami’, ‘Santhanagopalam’, Madhuranombarakattu etc. He had also directed the hit film ‘Onnu Muthal Poojaym Vare’. In Malayalam, he last scripted th Jayaram starrer ‘Madhuchandralekha’.

Last year, Raghunath Paleri also tried his hand in acting by essaying an important role in Shanavas Bavakutty’s ‘Thottappan’. It will be interesting to see how the veteran has adapted himself to the new age sensibilities as a writer.

The first look poster of Pa Ranjith’s upcoming boxing film starring Arya will be out tomorrow (December 2). The film rumoured to be titled as ‘Salpetta’ will explore the boxing clubs culture in North Madras in the 1990. It also stars Kalaiarasan and John Kokken in key roles as boxers. Dushara Vijayan plays the female lead.

Arya, who is welll known for is physical fitness and agility, has been working hard for the film. In the location stills released so far, the actor can be seen sporting a beefed up physique just like that of trained boxers. The actor is highly excited about this film as he rates it as the most challenging character in his career so far.

Just like Pa Ranjith’s earlier films that were noted for its powerful discussion of caste and politics. It is also expected to deal with topics like oppression and discrimination that happens in the field of kick-boxing in Tamil Nadu.

Fahadh Faasil trims his weight once again; Joji shoot in progress!

Shoot for Fahadh Faasil’s new film ‘Joji’ with director Dileesh Pothan is currently progressing at a brisk pace. The star has shed a good amount of weight for the film. Some new location stills featuring a lean looking Fahadh are currently doing the rounds in social medias. Just a while back, actor Baburaj, who is playing an important role in the film, had shared a photo taken with him during shoot in his Facebook page. Earlier this year also, Fahadh had shed over 10 kilos. It was for the Mahesh Narayanan directorial, ‘Malik’.

‘Joji’ scripted by Syam Pushkaran is inspired from Willaim Shakespeare’s famous play, ‘Macbeth’. As per the makers, it is an independent adaptation that is set in the modern era. Along with Fahadh, Shammy Thilakan, Baburaj and Unnimaya Prasad also playing major roles in the film.

‘Joji’ has Shyju Khalid handling the camera. Music is by Justin Varghese of ‘Njandukalude Naatil Oridavela’ and ‘Thaneer Mathan Dhinangal’ fame. Editor Kiran Das, costume designer Mashar Hamsa, production designer Gokul Das and make up artist Ronex Xavier form the core technical crew. The film is funded by Dileesh Pothan-Syam Pushkaran duo’s production company, Working Class along with Fahadh’s banner, Fahadh Faasil And Friends.
