Soubin Shahir and Mamta Mohandas to star in Lal Jose’s next

Director Lal Jose’s next film will have Soubin Shahir and Mamta Mohandas as the leads. Dr Iqbal Kuttippuram is scripting the film, which is set majorly in Dubai. It is the writer-director combo’s fourth film together after ‘Arabikatha’, ‘Diamond Necklace’ and ‘Vikramadithyan’. Interestingly, the first two films were also centered around the lives of Malayalis living in Dubai.

This new film will have Soubin and Mamta as a married couple. The story is set in two different timelines of their lives. Along with them, veteran Salim Kumar will also be seen in a major role. Justin Varghese, who had composed music for films like ‘Njandukalude Naatil Oridavela’ and ‘Thanneer Mathan Dhinangal’, has been signed as the music director. Pre-production works are already underway and the makers are planning to start shooting this month.

Lal Jose has been going through a lean patch for sometime now with his last few films failing to click among the masses. With his trusted writer by side this time, the director will be eager to return back to his usual form.

‘Member Rameshan 9th Ward’ is said to be a full length political entertainer set in a rural backdrop. Arjun Ashokan plays the lead role of OM Rameshan, who contests in the 9th ward under the UKF party ticket. Sabumon’s character is named Ajithan Vettikuzhi, Mamukkoya as Abu Manjapra, Johny Antony as Jacob Moonjali and Saju Kodiyan as Ashokan.

Watch: Triples trailer promises great fun!

Another new Tamil web series is gearing up for release. Titled as ‘Triples’, the series has Jai Sampath, ‘Oh My Kadavule’ fame Vani Bhojan, Rajkumar and Vivek Prasanna in the lead roles. Last day, the makers released the trailer online. If the trailer is anything to go by, it is certain to be a non-stop fun entertainer. It is the story of three friends who get together for a journey full of misadventures.

‘Triples’ is written by Balaji Jayaraman and directed by Charukesh Sekar. Earlier in an interview, lead actor Jai had promised that the ‘Triples’ will have a lot of hilarious moments, similar to those in Kamal Haasan’s iconic film ‘Michael Madana Kama Rajan’.

‘Triples’ is scheduled to premiere in Disney + Hotstar on December 11. ‘Petta’ director Karthik Subbaraj, who is one of the producers of the series, believes that ‘Triples’ will be the perfect show to launch on Disney+ Hotstar as it has all the elements of a commercial entertainer – action, drama, comedy and more.

As per reports, ‘Pathan’ is planned on the lines of director Sidharth Anand’s last film ‘War’. The Hrithik Roshan-Tiger Shroff starrer was a massive blockbuster at the box office. Apparently, the makers of ‘Pathan’ are planning a similar action flick in which SRK and John Abraham will be seen locking horns. The film is being produced by Yash Raj Films.

Shoot for Nivin Pauly’s new film ‘Kanakam Kamini Kalaham’ has successfully been wrapped up. The film is written and directed by Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval of ‘Android Kunjappan Ver 5.25’ fame. Nivin’s own production house Pauly Jr Pictures is backing it. The team just took under a month to complete the entire shoot, which is indeed a commendable effort.

According to director Ratheesh Balakrishnan, ‘Kanakam Kamini Kalaham’ is a family drama that also has dark humour and satirical elements in it. Like his debut film ‘Android Kunjappan’, this one also deals with ordinary people and their lives.

Nivin Pauly is sporting a long haired look in the film. Grace Antony plays the female lead. Vinay Forrt is also there in an important role. Joy Mathew, ‘Vikruthi’ fame Vincy Aloshious, Jaffer Idukki, Sivadas Kannur, Rajesh Madhavan and many others are also part of the supporting cast. Vinod Illampally is the cinematographer and music is composed by the duo of Neha Nair and Yakzan Gary Pereira. Manoj Kannoth is the editor.

Shiva Shivaa: Actor Jai turns music director for his next film!

Tamil actor Jai, popular for his roles in films like ‘Goa’, ‘Subramaniyapuram’ and ‘Raja Rani’, is turning a music director. He is debuting as a composer for his next film to be helmed by Susienthiran. Titled as ‘Shiva Shivaa’, it is an action-packed entertainer on the lines of the director’s earlier films ‘Naan Mahaan Alla’ and ‘Pandiyanaadu’.

Prior to the formal announcement, not many knew that Jai had a music background. Deva, one of the most popular music directors of the 90s, is Jai’s uncle. Before turning to acting, Jai was studying western classical at London Trinity College. He was offered the opportunity to act in films when he had just finished his 5th grade at the college.

Jai, in a recent interview, revealed that he has composed around 500 songs on his own. Director Susienthiran happened to learn about Jai’s interest in music and asked him to compose for their new film. Though the actor was initially reluctant, he took up the project after Susienthiran managed to convince him.

For his maiden film as a composer, Jai has used a lot of live instruments. The film has five songs in all and Vairamuthu has penned lyrics for the first track, which is a romantic number. Jai is planning to continue as a composer and aims to become one of the top 10 music directors in the Tamil film industry.

Prithviraj’s next titled as Kuruthi; Splendid star cast in the film!

Prithviraj Sukumaran’s new film ‘Kuruthi’ got formally announced last day. Debutant Manu Warrier is directing the film and it is scripted by Anish Pallyal. Supriya Menon is producing the film under the banner of Prithviraj Productions. From the tagline, ‘A vow to kill, an oath to protect’, it looks an action-thriller.

‘Kuruthi’ boasts of a solid star cast. Murali Gopy, Roshan Mathew, Shine Tom Chacko, Srindaa, Mamukkoya, Manikandan Achari, Navas Vallikkunnu, ‘Thanneer Mathan Dhinangal’ fame Naslen and ‘Thatteem Mutteem’ fame Sagar Surya are part of the film. Abhinandan Ramanujam, the DOP of Prithviraj’s maiden production ‘9’, will be handling the camera for this film as well. Jakes Bejoy is the music director and Akhilesh Mohan, the editor.

Prithviraj is currently shooting for his cop film ‘Cold Case’ directed by Tanu Balak. After its completion, he will be shooting for ‘Kuruthi’. The makers have planned to start shooting from December 9.

Kuttavum Shikshayum shoot resumes in Rajasthan

Earlier this year in February, ‘Kuttavum Shikshayum’ team was busy shooting in Rajasthan when the pandemic situation worsened. They had to halt shoot and return back to Kerala before the lockdown was announced. After almost six months, the team has resumed shoot in Rajasthan. Rajeev Ravi is directing the film, which is a cop thriller.

Asif Ali will be seen playing the lead role of police officer’s role in the film. Sunny Wayne, Alencier Ley Lopez, Sharafudheen and Senthil Krishna will also be seen as cops. The film is based on a jewellery theft that occurred in Kasargod. The case took a 5-member team from the Kerala police force to a dreaded village in Uttar Pradesh where they risked their lives to nab the culprits.

Sibi Thomas, a real policeman, who had acted in ‘Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum’, is scripting ‘Kuttavum Shikshayum’ along with Sreejith Divakaran. Sibi was the investigation officer of the robbery that happened in 2015.

Master makers issue statement on release plans

Last day, after reports emerged that a leading OTT platform has bagged the streaming rights of ‘Master’, there were lot of speculations in social medias. Naturally, fans were disappointed when a section of medias reported about the film getting a direct OTT release. Putting an end to all rumours, the makers have released a statement in which they have once again stressed that they still prefer a theatrical release. However, they also confirmed that a leading OTT service provider has indeed approached them. The statement reads,

As we continue to battle the pandemic, we hope you are all safe and doing fine. We understand and can feel the amount of excitement among the audience to celebrate our #Master in theatres. We await the Big Day to come, as much as you do. With lot of rumours surfacing in the past few days, we would like to clarify our stand on it. Though we have an offer from a reputed OTT service provider, we prefer to the theatrical release, which is the need of the hour for the industry to survive the on-going crisis. We also request the theatre owners to stand with us and provide their support for reviving the Tamil Film Industry. We hope to reach out to you soon, with the good news. Stay safe.
