Dulquer Salmaan’s wife Amaal heaps praise on Kalyani and Kalidas

‘Putham Pudhu Kaalai’, the Tamil anthology that got released in Amazon Prime, has been getting good response online. Sudha Kongara, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Rajiv Menon, Karthik Subbaraj and Suhasini Mani Ratnam have directed a segment each in this anthology. Out of the five films, Sudha Kongara’s segment ‘Ilamai Idho Idho’ seems to be the most loved one.

Kalidas Jayaram, Urvashi, Jayaram and Kalyani Priyadarshan star in it. The story penned by Malayali actress Shruthi Ramachandran and husband Francis Thomas is about how being in love makes one feel young. While the veterans Urvashi and Jayaram are excellent together, it is the endearing chemistry of the two youngsters that seems to have grabbed all the attention.

Kalidas and Kalyani’s endearing chemistry has earned appreciation from many including Dulquer Salmaan’s wife Amaal. She has posted a note in her Instagram handle praising the duo. Most critic reviews have also been in favour of their performances.

Tamil actress Varalaxmi Sarathkumar is all set to wear the director’s hat. Her maiden film has been titled as ‘Kannamoochi’ and its first look poster is out online. From the poster, it looks like the film will revolve around women centric issues and about violence against them. Sharing the poster, Varalaxmi wrote in her Twitter handle,

Sanjay Dutt recovers from cancer; Expresses his gratitude to everyone for the blessings

News about Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt being diagnosed with lung cancer had upset scores of his fans and well wishers. Two months after his diagnosis, Dutt has shared a note in his social media handle announcing that he is happy to have emerged victorious from this battle. He picked the special occasion of his twin kids Shahraan and Iqra’s 10th birthday to share the happy news. His statement reads,

The last few weeks were a very difficult time for my family and me. But as they say, God gives the hardest battles to his strongest soldiers. And today, on the occasion of my kids’ birthday, I am happy to come out victorious from this battle and be able to give them the best gift I can-the health and well-being of our family.

This wouldn’t have been possible without the unwavering faith and support from all of you. I am eternally grateful to my family, friends, and all the fans who have stood by me and been my source of strength through this trying time. Thank you for the love, kindness and countless blessings that you have sent my way.

I am especially grateful to Dr. Sewanti and her team of doctors, nurses, and the medical staff at Kokilaben Hospital who have taken such good care of me in the last few weeks. Humbled and grateful.

My heart is filled with gratitude as I share this news with all of you today. Thank you.

Earlier in August, Sanjay Dutt had announced that he is taking a break from work because of his health issues. Now that he has recovered, he will soon be joininh the sets of ‘KGF Chapter 2’ in which he plays the antagonist’s role.

‘Drishyam 2’ shoot is currently progressing at a brisk pace in Thodupuzha. Due to the pandemic, the makers are strictly following all the safety protocols. But that hasn’t really stopped the crew members from having their usual share of fun. Last day, Mohanlal treated his co-stars with some delicious biriyani. Esther Anil, Ansiba Haasan and Meena shared the photos in their respective social media handles. Esther captioned the photos as,

Mohanlal got us delicious biriyani even though he is on a diet.
Ansiba Hassan and I are in food coma.
I hope Meena Sagar is okay in her room.

Meena replied saying,

Yup I’m in food coma too. Thank you Mohanlal for arranging such delicious food in such short notice.

‘Drishyam 2’ directed by Jeethu Joseph is the sequel to the blockbuster ‘Drishyam’. The sequel continues from where the first part ended with the focus yet again on Georgekutty and family. Mohanlal, Meena, Ansiba Hassan, Siddique, Asha Sharath and Esther Anil are all reprising their roles from ‘Drishyam’. Murali Gopy, Ganesh Kumar, Sai Kumar, Adam Ayub and Anjali Nair are the some of the new additions to the cast. Cinematographer Satheesh Kurup, music director Anil Johnson, editor Vinayakan, art director Rajeev Kovilakam and costume designer Linda Jeethu form the technical crew.

Nivin Pauly’s ‘Padavettu’ marks Govind Vasantha’s comeback to Malayalam after a brief gap. Ever since he weaved magic with the celestial soundtrack in ’96’, Govind’s return to Malayalam has been eagerly awaited. It is heard that ‘Padavettu’ has great scope for music and Govind has done some interesting experiments.

Last day, the composer took to his Instagram handle to share details about the singers with whom he has collaborated in ‘Padavettu’. Vedan, the rapper and independent musician, whose song ‘Voice of the Voiceless’ became a viral hit, has sung a track in the Nivin Pauly starrer. It is probably his debut song for a mainstream Malayalam film. Anwar Ali has penned the lyrics. Shahabaz Aman, Ann Amie, Bhavana, Ansuree, CJ Kuttappan and Sunil Mathai have rendered the other songs.

‘Padavettu’ is written and directed by debutant Liju Krishna. Nothing much is known regarding the film’s genre or storyline except that it is set in a rural backdrop. Nivin Pauly is said to be playing a very challenging character in the film. ‘Aruvi’ fame Aditi Balan, Manju Warrrier and Shine Tom Chacko will also be seen in major roles.

Actor Sunny Wayne is maiden his feature film production debut with the film and New Surya Films is presenting it.

As it is Prabhas’ birthday week, the makers of his new film ‘Radhe Shyam’ have released a poster featuring him. The star plays a character named Vikramaditya and he sports an extremely stylish look. Directed by Radha Krishna Kumar, ‘Radhe Shyam’, is said to be a romantic film with Pooja Hegde as the female lead. It is jointly produced by UV Creations and T-Series.

‘Radhe Krishna’ is shaping up as a multilingual. The film will be released in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi and Malayalam languages. It is being reported that the film is a period love story set in an European backdrop. Prabhas is said to be playing the role of a fortune teller and Pooja Hegde is rumoured to essay the part of a princess.

The team members, including Prabhas and Pooja Hegde, were shooting in Georgia when the Covid-19 scare escalated. The crew had to quickly wrap up the shoot and return back to India just days before the lockdown.

Nadhirshah’s next with Jayasurya is a thriller

Nadhirshah as a filmmaker is known for helming fun-filled entertainers. All his three films, ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’, ‘Kattapanayile Rithwik Roshan’ and ‘Mera Naam Shaji’, were high on the humour quotient. Nadhirshah has decided to change tracks for his next, which apparently is a thriller. Jayasurya, Namitha Pramod and Salim Kumar will be seen playing the lead roles in the film.

Suneesh Varanad is scripting the film, which is yet-to-be titled. He has worked in various TV Shows including Badai Bungalow and has also scripted the Manju Warrier-starrer ‘Mohanlal’. Since it is a film that can be shot within the pandemic restrictions, the makers are planning to go on floors next month (November 10). Sujith Vaassudev will be handing the cinematography.

Director B Unnikrishnan had recently confirmed that his next film is with superstar Mohanlal. Udhayakrishna is scripting the film, which is scheduled to go on floors in November. The makers are planning a rustic entertainer that will have all the necessary commercial ingredients in it. The film will be made on a budget of around Rs 30 crores.

It has been a while since Mohanlal has done a village-based role, so the makers are hopeful that the film will click among the masses. Mohanlal and B Unnikrishnan have previously worked together in ‘Madambi’, ‘Grandmaster’, ‘Mr Fraud’ and ‘Villain’. Among the four films, ‘Madambi’ was a rustic entertainer that revolved around family relationships.

Since the trio of B Unnikrishnan, Mohnalal and Udhayakrishna are joining hands for the first time, expectations will be high, particularly among the fans of mass masala entertainers. Shoot is slated to begin soon after Mohanlal wraps up ‘Drishyam 2’.

Tamil actor Karthi and his wife Ranjani have been blessed with a baby boy. The star took to his social media handle to inform the big news. He also thanked the doctors and nurses for taking them through what he calls a life changing experience. He has written,

Karthi and Ranjani also have a daughter named Umayal. Meanwhile, the actor is having multiple projects lined up on the professional front. Rashmika Mandanna, one of South Indian cinema’s hot favourites, is making her Tamil debut with this film.

Karthi is expected to start shooting for PS Mithran’s film next. The actor is said to be playing a double role in it. He also has the Mani Ratnam biggie ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ in the pipeline. A sequel to his blockbuster action film ‘Kaithi’ is also in the offing.

Actor Prithviraj Sukumaran has been tested positive for Covid-19. He was shooting for his new film ‘Jana Gana Mana’ when he was diagnosed. The film’s director Dijo Jose Antony has also tested positive. Prithviraj has shared a note in his social media handle informing that he is asymptomatic and doing well. His post reads,

Hello everyone!
I’ve been shooting for Dijo Jose Anthony’s “Jana Gana Mana” since the 7th of October. We had strict protocols in place with regards to Covid regulations and associated safety measures. As is the norm, all involved in the shoot were tested before the schedule started and after the last day of shoot in the courtroom set we had put up, tests were repeated. Unfortunately, the test results this time came back positive and I have gone into isolation. I’m asymptomatic and am doing fine now. All primary and secondary contacts have been advised to isolate and get tested. Hoping to recover soon and get back to work ASAP. Cheers and thanks for the love and concern. ?

‘Jana Gana Mana’ has Prithviraj and Suraj Venjaramoodu playing the lead roles in the film. Since Prithviraj and the director has tested positive, all the crew members are expected to be in isolation for the next few days.
