Zakariya’s next after Halal Love Story is with Mammootty

Promising young filmmaker Zakariya is all set to team up with superstar Mammootty. In a recent interview, he revealed that discussions have been initiated. They will be getting a clear picture about when the film can go on floors only after the pandemic situation gets better.

Zakariya made an excellent debut in 2018 with ‘Sudani From Nigeria’. The film won the National award for Best Feature Film in Malayalam and 5 other awards at the State level. Apart from all the critical acclaim, it also emerged commercially successful.

Zakariya’s second film, ‘Halal Love Story’ is gearing up for release on Amazon Prime Video today midnight. Indrajith Sukumaran, Joju George, Sharafudheen, Parvathy, Grace Antony and Soubin Shahir essay the major roles in it. As per the makers, it is a humourous journey of love with some subtle political commentary in it.

Zakariya meanwhile is also said to be in talks with Prithviraj Sukumaran for a new project.

Jana Gana Mana: Prithviraj and Suraj Venjaramoodu reunite for Queen fame Dijo Jose’s next

After the superhit success of ‘Driving Licence’, Prithviraj Sukumaran and Suraj Venjaramoodu are coming together once again for a new film titled ‘Jana Gana Mana’. It is directed by Dijo Jose Antony. Shoot for the film has already started. Due to the Covid 19 situation, the makers are following all the necessary safety protocols during the shoot.

Dijo’s directorial debut ‘Queen’ was a sleeper hit at the box office. He is also noted for helming some ad films with superstar Mohanlal. Since his maiden film was a youthful entertainer with newcomers in the lead, it will be interesting to see how he extracts the performances out of two seasoned actors, Prithviraj and Suraj. Details regarding the genre and cast and crew members of ‘Jana Gana Mana’ are not yet known.

Both Prithviraj and Suraj Venjaramoodu have multiple other projects coming up. Suraj had recently completed shooting for a thriller film titled ‘Roy’. It is directed by Sunil Ibrahim of ‘Chapters’ fame. ‘Kaanekaane’, ‘Udaya’, ‘Higuita’ and ‘Grrr’ are some of his other upcoming projects.

Prithviraj meanwhile has committed for several projects, which includes both small scale films and highly ambitious ones like ‘Kaaliyan’, ‘Vaariyamkunnan’, ‘Karachi 81’ and a multilingual film that is planned to be shot completely in virtual production. ‘Kaduva’ with Shaji Kailas, ‘Ayalvaashi’ with Irshad Parari’ and ‘Vilayath Buddha’ with Jayan Nambiar are also in the pipeline.

Kerala State Film Awards 2019 announced; Suraj Venjaramoodu and Kani Kusruthi bag top honours

The eagerly awaited Kerala State Film Awards announcement for the year 2019 has been made by Minister for Cultural Affairs, AK Balan in a press meet held in the state capital, Thiruvananthapuram. Usually, the awards are announced during the February-March period but this year, the process got delayed due to the virus outbreak. A total of 119 films, including 5 children’s films, competed for the top honours this year. Despite the pandemic threat, the jury members headed by Madhu Ambat managed to watch all the films and picked the deserving winners.

Asif Ali and Nikhila Vimal in Sibi Malayil’s political thriller Kothe

Asif Ali’s new film with veteran director Sibi Malayil went on floors recently. The film is a political thriller and it is said to be titled as ‘Kothe’. Debutant Hemanth is scripting the film and it has Asif Ali playing a political worker’s role. Nikhila Vimal has been signed as the female lead. It is her second film with Asif after sharing screen space with him in ‘Mera Naam Shaji’. Roshan Mathew, Suresh Krishna, Ranjith and Sreelakshmi are also part of the cast.

The film will be predominately shot in and around Kozhikode. Shoot is being conducted following all the Covid-19 safety protocols. Currently, the makers are shooting all the indoor portions in a set created in a studio. Prashanth Raveendran is the DOP and Kailas Menon of ‘Theevandi’ fame handles the music department. The film is produced by director Ranjith and PM Sasidharan under the banner of Gold Coin Motion Pictures.

Prathi Poovankozhi set to be remade in multiple languages

Manju Warrier starrer ‘Prathi Poovankozhi’ is getting ready to be remade in multiple languages. Bollywood based producer Boney Kapoor has acquired the film’s remake and dubbing rights. Reports suggest that it will be remade with top stars in Tamil and Hindi languages.

‘Prathi Poovankozhi’ is a female-centric thriller written by Unni R and directed by Rosshan Andrrews. It is centred around an ordinary working woman who gets physically harassed in a bus while on her way to work. The incident has a deep impact on her and she decides to track down the molester and teach him a lesson. Director Rosshan Andrews played the molester’s role in the film while Anusree, Grace Antony and Saiju Kurup essayed other important roles.

‘Prathi Poovankozhi’ garnered largely positive reviews from the critics and had a fair run in theatres. It remains to be seen how well the film gets adapted in other languages.

Amazon Prime Video is coming up with a slew of Indian films this season. They have released the list of films from various regional languages that will be premiering on the platform in the next two months.

Check out the list:

Halal Love Story (Malayalam)

The film directed by ‘Sudani From Nigeria’ fame Zakariya, stars Indrajith Sukumaran, Joju George, Parvathy, Soubin Shahir, Sharafudheen and Grace Antony in the leads. It is all set to premiere on October 15.

Bheema Sena Nalamaharaja (Kannada)

The film is directed by Karthik Saragur and it has Aravind Iyer, Aarohi Narayan, Priyanka Thimmesh, Achyuth Kumar, and Aadya. It will be out on October 29.

Soorarai Pottru (Tamil)

This is probably the biggest among all the Indian films slated for release in Amazon Prime. The Suriya starrer directed by Sudha Kongara is an ambitious big scale film about a common man’s dream of owning an aircraft business. Besides the original Tamil version, the film is also being dubbed and released in Telugu as ‘Aakaasam Nee Haddhu Ra’. It is slated to have its world premier on October 30.

Chhalaang (Hindi)

The film directed by National award winner Hansal Mehta stars Rajkummar Rao and Nushrat Bharucha. It will be out on November 13.

Manne Number 13 (Kannada)

The film directed by Vivy Kathiresan will be releasing on November 19.

Middle Class Melodies (Telugu)

Vinod Atmoju is directing the film that stars Vijay Deverakonda’s brother Anand Deverakonda and Varsha Bollamma as the leads. It will be out on November 20.

Durgavati (Hindi)

Bhumi Pednekar will be seen playing the lead in this film directed by G Ashok. It will be premiering on December 11.

Maara (Tamil)

The Tamil remake of hit Malayalam film ‘Charlie’ is set for release on December 17. Dilip Kumar is sitting the film that has Madhavan reprising the lead role played by Dulquer Salmaan. Shraddha Srinath and Sshivada play the two female leads.

Coolie No 1 (Hindi)

Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan are starring in this fun entertainer that will be out on Christmas Day, December 25. Varun’s father David Dhawan is directing the film.

Last day, Nivin Pauly celebrated his birthday and social medias were abuzz as wishing kept pouring in from all corners. As a birthday treat for the fans, new updates regarding Nivin’s upcoming projects were made. It was announced that he would be teaming up with ‘Android Kunjappan Ver 5.25’ director Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval for a new film titled ‘Kanakam Kamini Kalaham’. The makers of ‘Thuramukham’ released a new poster featuring Nivin. Team ‘Padavettu’ shared a special making video online. They also had a brief get-together and cake cutting at Nivin’s place.

‘Padavettu’ directed by debutant Liju Krishna is a highly anticipated film. Nivin is said to be playing a highly challenging character in the film. He had even put on extra weight for the film. Aditi Balan, Manju Warrier and Shine Tom Chacko will be seen in other major roles. Actor Sunny Wayne is producing the film and New Surya Films is presenting it.

It is scripted by debutant Aneesh Rajasekharan and will be directed by newbie Ronnie Manuel Joseph. ‘Bismi Special’ is another project in the star’s kitty. Newcomer Rajesh Ravi is directing the film. He has co-scripted the film along with two others, Rahul Ramesh and Sanu Majeed. The film has Aishwarya Lekshmi as the female lead.

‘Thuramukham’ directed by Rajeev Ravi is most likely to be Nivin Pauly’s next release after theatres resume functioning normally.

Nivin Pauly’s next with Android Kunjappan director Ratheesh Poduval titled Kanakam Kamini Kalaham

Nivin Pauly is all set to team up with director Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval of ‘Android Kunjappan Ver 5.25’ fame. The film has been titled as ‘Kanakam Kamini Kalaham’ and its official announcement was made last day on Nivin’s birthday. The star’s own production house Pauly Jr Pictures is backing the film, which is expected to go on floors early next year.

Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval started off as a production designer in Bollywood. Before turning a director, he has worked in films like ‘Force’, ‘Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota’ and ‘Badhaai Ho’. More recently, he was associated with the film ‘Lootcase’ and his work in it is was praised by many including superstar Aamir Khan. Thanks to the success of ‘Android Kunjappan’, expectations will be high on ‘Kanakam Kamini Kalaham’.

Mohanlal, Udhayakrishna and B Unnikrishnan to team up!

Talks about B Unnikrishnan and Mohanlal reuniting have been doing the rounds for long. Strengthening the speculations, the director has shared a photo of him with Mohanlal and script writer Udhayakrishna in his official social media handle. The trio is expected to come up with a big scale mass entertainer aimed at a theatrical release. More details are likely to be revealed in the coming days.

Mohanlal and B Unnikrishnan have previously worked together in ‘Madambi’, ‘Grandmaster’, ‘Mr Fraud’ and ‘Villain’. Likwise, the superstar has collaborated with Udhayakrishna multiple times in the past. The last time the two worked together was for the mega blockbuster ‘Pulimurugan’. Kangana Ranaut looks striking similar to Jayalalithaa in Thalaivi

‘Thalaivi’, the biopic of late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, that has Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut playing the lead has been in the making for the over a year. The film was originally scheduled to release in July but due to the delay in shoot and the Covid-19 situation, release got been postponed. AL Vijay is directing the film, which is being made as a bilingual in Tamil and Hindi.

Recently, the makers released few location stills in which Kangana looked striking similar to Jayalalithaa of the olden times. The actress had taken lot of efforts to learn Tamil language and train in the basics in classical dancing. She also put on extra weight for playing the character.

Arvind Swamy will be seen essaying the role of MGR in the film. Madhubala and Samuthirakani are essaying other major roles. ‘Thalaivi’ is scripted jointly by ‘Baahubali’ writer KV Vijayendra Prasad and Rajat Arora. The film has Vishal Vittal cranking the camera and music composed by GV Prakash. It is jointly produced by Vishnu Induri and Shaailesh R Singh.
