Shane Nigam hits the gym for his upcoming film Qalb

After going through a lot of trouble in the last few months, it seems like Shane Nigam is finally getting back on track. The actor is currently in the process of prepping up for his upcoming film ‘Qalb’. The makers had recently released a video compiling footage from Shane’s workout sessions.

‘Qalb’ directed by Sajid Yahiya is said to be an emotional drama set in a coastal town. He had previously directed ‘Inspector Dawood Ibrahim’ aka ‘IDI’ and ‘Mohanlal’. ‘Qalb’ has its story penned by Sajid himself. He has collaborated with Suhail Koya for the screenplay.

Abinandhan Ramanujam of ‘Amen’ is the DOP. The makers have got multiple composers on board for the handling the music department. Prakash Alex, Vimal Nayar, Reneesh Basheer and Nihal Sadiq will be composing the songs. Prakash Alex has been assigned to handle the background score. Arjun Amaravati Creations will be presenting ‘Qalb’ and it is backed by Cinema Pranthan Productions.

Thalayund Udalilla: Biju Menon plays a cop in his next

Biju Menon, who stunned everyone with his remarkable performance in ‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’, is set to don the khakis yet again. He has signed a new film titled ‘Thalayund Udalilla’, in which he plays the role of police Sub Inspector named Soman Nadar. From the title poster, which was released last day, the film looks like a murder mystery.

‘Thalayund Udalilla’ will be directed by Sugeeth. It marks his fourth time collaboration with Biju Menon after ‘Ordinary’, ‘3 Dots’ and ‘Madhura Naranga’. This upcoming film is scripted by Dileep Ponnappan and Prem Radhakrishnan. Nishad Koya and Ajeesh OK will be producing the film under the banner of Wall Poster Entertainments. On the technical side, the makers have got Faisal Ali as the DOP and Jakes Bejoy as the music director. More details are expected to be announced before the film goes on floors.

Mammootty to introduce yet another debutant filmmaker!

Mammootty is well known for launching several filmmakers, most of whom have made it big. Some of the industry’s most accomplished directors like Aashiq Abu, Anwar Rasheed, Amal Neerad, Martin Prakkat etc, started their journey in mainstream cinema by directing Mammootty. The megastar is now set to introduce yet another newcomer. He has signed a new film to be helmed by debutante Ratheena Sharshad.

The film, which is yet to be titled, is scripted by the trio of Harshad, Suhas and Sharfu. Harshad had previously scripted ‘Unda’, which also a Mammootty starrer. Suhas and Sharafu made their screenwriting debut with ‘Varathan’. They later co-wrote ‘Virus’ with Muhsin Parari.

Ratheen Sharshad was previously the executive producer of ‘Uyare’. For her directorial debut, she has got a strong technical crew comprising of cinematographer Girish Gangadharan, music director Jakes Bejoy, editor Deepu Joseph, art director Manu Jagath and costume designer Sameera Saneesh. The project is designed by Badhusha.

George Sebastian, Shyam Mohan and Arjun Ravindran will be jointly producing the film. It is not yet known when the makers are planning to start shooting.

Adipurush: Prabhas and Tanhaji director Om Raut team up for a multilingual epic film!

Ever since ‘Baahubali’, Prabhas has established himself as a pan-Indian star and all his films are now being designed as big-scale projects that appeals to audience across the country. He will next be teaming up with director Om Raut for a multilingual mega-budget film. Titled as ‘Adipurush’, it is the big screen adaptation of an Indian epic that revolves around the triumph of good over evil. From the poster, it looks like another retelling of Ramayana. T Series and Retrophiles production are jointly producing the film.

Director Om Raut last made the biographical action-epic ‘Tanhaji’ with Ajay Devgn and Saif Ali Khan in the lead roles. The film was a huge hit and is currently the highest grossing Bollywood film of 2020. Expectations will be massive when Om Raut joins hands with Prabhas. ‘Adipurush’ will be made in 3D format. The film will be shot simultaneously in Hindi and Telugu. It will also dubbed and released in Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada languages. Along with Prabhas, the film will also have another major star, who will be playing the antagonist’s part. The cast and crew details are expected to be out soon.

Prabhas’ upcoming film is ‘Radhe Shyam’, a period love story that has Pooja Hegde of ‘Ala Vaikuntapuramloo’ as the female lead. Shoot for the film is stalled at halfway stage due to the pandemic. Prabhas has also committed for another ambitious film with ‘Mahanati’ director Nag Ashwin. Deepika Padukone is also part of the film.

Director Bijukumar Damodaran, popularly known as Dr Biju, is one of the most revered filmmakers in the Malayalam parallel cinema space. Almost all his films have been widely acclaimed, with some of them even garnering international acclaim. Tovino Thomas is planning to team up with Dr Biju for a new film.

Last day, the star had shared a casting call seeking actors who have physical resemblance to Vladimir Lenin, BR Ambedkar, Leo Tolstoy and Adolf Hitler. It is for Dr Biju’s new film which will have Tovino in the lead role. The director is planning a political film with a surrealistic storytelling pattern. Tovino will be playing the central character of a man who comes across Lenin, Ambedkar, Tolstoy and Hitler during a journey. Unlike Dr Biju’s previous films, this one is a big scale project. More details are expected to be out in the coming days.

Tovino Thomas already has his kitty full. After the Corona-crisis is over, he is expected to resume shooting for his superhero film ‘Minnal Murali’. ‘Ajayante Randaam Moshanam’, ‘Kala’, ‘Pallichattambi’, ‘Bhoomi’ and ‘563 St Charles Street’ are some of his other announced projects. His next to release will be the much-delayed ‘Kilometers and Kilometers’. The film is set for direct release on Hotstar + Disney.

Mohanlal gears up for Drishyam 2; Back to Georgekutty look!

Mohanlal is getting ready to start shooting for ‘Drishyam 2’. He had returned back from Chennai last month and was in quarantine for the last couple of weeks. He recently got tested negative and the makers are now planning to go ahead with the shoot. The actor, who has been sporting a long-bearded look during the lockdown days, has finally shaved it to get back to his usual getup. Production controller Badusha shared Mohanlal’s latest photo through his social media handle.

If all goes well, ‘Drishyam 2’ shoot will begin on September 7. Just like the first part, Thodupuzha will be the major location. Since the first part was a huge hit that also went on to be remade successfully in various languages, expectations are high on the sequel as well.

As per director Jeethu Joseph, ‘Drishyam 2’ will continue exactly from where the first part ended with the story revolving around the lives of Georgekutty and family. Along with Mohanlal, all the major actors including Meena, Ansiba Haasan, Esther Anil, Siddique, Asha Sarath and Kalabhavan Shajon are most likely to be retained in the cast.

Mohanlal’s own production house Aashirvad Cinemas is producing the film. A formal announcement with full details regarding the cast and crew is expected to be made very soon.

‘Sharathettante Kanakku Pusthakam’ will be directed by debutant Balu Narayanan. Joshy Muringoor is producing the film under the banner of Heaven Cinemas. Director Balu has penned the screenplay along with Sarath. Anil Vijay is the cinematographer and Kiran Das will be handling the edits. Vishnu Prasad has been assigned as the music director.

Though it has been over a decade since he made his debut, Vinu Mohan is yet to establish himself as a bankable lead actor. He was last seen in a supporting role in the Mohanlal starrer ‘Ittymaani: Made in China’. Sharathettante Kanakku Pusthakam’ will hopefully provide that much-needed big break for the actor.

John Luther: Jayasurya’s new film announced

Today, on the special occasion of Malayalam New Year, a new film of Jayasurya has been announced. Titled as ‘John Luther’, it is written and directed by debutant Abhijith Joseph. Thomas P Mathew is producing the film under the banner of Alonsa Films. The makers have also introduced the crew members by releasing a title poster. Roby Varghese Raj will be wielding the camera and music department will be handled by Shaan Rahman. Praveen Prabhakar is in charge of the edits. Details regarding the film’s genre or supporting actors are not yet known.

Jayasurya currently has kitty full with some interesting projects. He has committed for an ambitious film based on the life of Kadamattath Kathanar. Rojin Thomas, one of the directors of ‘Philips and the Monkey Pen’, is helming the film, which according to the makers will be the first of its kind in Malayalam. Titled as ‘Kathanar The Wild Sorcerer’, the project is planned to be made in 3D format in two parts.

Jayasurya also has ‘Aposthalan’ and ‘Aadu 3’ in the pipeline. He will also be starring in the biopic of ‘Metro Man’ E Sreedharan. The film titled as ‘Rama Sethu’ will be directed by VK Prakash. The star’s next release will be ‘Vellam’ directed by ‘Captain’ fame Prajesh Sen.

As informed earlier by the makers, the trailer of Shane Nigam starrer ‘Veyil’ got released online today. The film directed by debutant Sarath Menon seems like a coming-of-age story of a youngster named Siddharth, played by Shane. In his brief career, the actor has done quite a few characters like this but he still looks perfect for the part in ‘Veyil’. Merin Jose Pottackal, James Eliya, Shine Tom Chacko, Sudhi Koppa and many others are part of the cast.

On the technical front, popular Tamil playback singer Pradeep Kumar is composing music for this film. Camera is cranked by Shaz Mohammed and Praveen Prabhakar is handling the edits. Joby George is producing the film under the banner of Goodwill Entertainments.

‘Veyil’ has to be one of the most talked about Malayalam films in recent years. It all started when Shane Nigam made allegations against producer Joby George of giving him death threats. The producer on his part accused Shane of unprofessional behavior. When shoot resumed after the intervention of various film governing bodies, Shane walked out of the location and shaved his hair as a protest against the crew. This lead to the youngster getting a temporary ban from Malayalam cinema. All the issues were settled after multiple rounds of discussions.

The makers will be hoping that all the struggle and efforts that went behind the making of ‘Veyil’ is worth it. The film is expected to get a theatrical release soon after the Corona crisis is over.

Today, on the special occasion of Malayalam New Year, actor Prithviraj Sukumaran has made a huge announcement regarding his new project. He will be starring in India’s first movie to be shot completely in virtual production. From a poster shared by Prithviraj, we presume that it is a period-film. It is conceptualized and directed by Gokulraj Baskar. Prithviraj Productions along with Listin Stephen’s Magic Frames is producing the film, which will be made in Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu and Hindi languages.
