Sushant Singh Rajput’s last film ‘Dil Bechara’ got released last day in Hotstar. As a mark of respect to the late actor, Hotstar has made the film available for both subscribers and non-subscribers. Despite releasing amidst tremendous hype, the film has managed to satisfy the majority. Initial response has been overwhelmingly positive with many calling it a fitting farewell to Sushant.

‘Dil Bechara’ is the official remake of the popular English film ‘The Fault In Our Stars’. It is directed by Mukesh Chhabra. The story is about two teenagers who fall in love after meeting at a cancer support group. Sanjana Sanghi is paired with Sushant Singh in the film. Saswata Chatterjee, Swastika Mukherjee and Sahil Vaid have done important supporting roles. Saif Ali Khan is also there in an extended cameo.

AR Rahman’s music is said to be the true soul of ‘Dil Bechara’. The maestro has delivered a stupendous soundtrack for the film. Sushant’s charminv performance and his chemistry with Sanjana is also being lauded. Going by the opening response, the film is expected to have a dream run in Hotstar.

It was recently announced that Deepika Padukone would be playing the female lead in Prabhas’s new film directed by ‘Mahanati’ fame Nag Ashwin. Tentatively titled as ‘Prabhas 21’, it is a massive project backed by Vyjayanthi Films. The legendary production is celebrating their 50th anniversary and this project is hence a very prestigious one for them.

Deepika Padukone and Prabhas are coming together for the first time and expectations are already huge. Reports suggest that Deepika has been paid a whopping remuneration of Rs 20 crore for the film. If it is indeed true, this is probably the highest for any female actor in the history of Indian cinema.

‘Prabhas 21’ is being planned as a pan-Indian film with a mammoth budget of over Rs 400 crore. It is said to be a futuristic sci-fi thriller set against the backdrop of an imaginary third world war. The film is planned to start rolling in April next year and expected to release in 2022. Apart from Telugu, the film will also be simultaneously made in Tami and Hindi languages.

Award-winning filmmaker Vetrimaaran is set to team up with Dhanush for the fifth time. The two are planning to start works on a film soon after the Covid-19 crisis gets over. Elred Kumar of RS Infotainment will be producing the film. Vetrimaaran had initially committed for another project with the banner. Soori was supposed to play the lead role in that film. However, it had to be postponed as the film demands to be shot abroad.

Vetrimaaran also has ‘Vaadivasal’ with Suriya in the pipeline. It is also a film that needs to be shot amidst huge crowd across various locations. So the director has decided to make a small-scale film with Dhanush before working on the other two projects. It is also learnt that their new film will have a fresh subject and is not a sequel from the ‘Vada Chennai’ trilogy.

Dhanush and Vetrimaaran are one of the most successful actor-director combos in Tamil cinema history. All their films, ‘Polladhavan’, ‘Aadukalam’, ‘Vada Chennai’ and ‘Asuran’ were widely acclaimed. Their last film, ‘Asuran’, was a huge commerical hit that also became Dhanush’s first 100 crore grosser. Expectations will certainly be high when the duo reunite.

Renji Panicker, Mukesh and Sai Kumar join Mammootty in CBI 5

‘CBI 5’, the final installment in the popular CBI franchise, is gearing up to go on floors once the restrictions over film shoots are lifted. The film marks the reunion of the trio of Mammootty, director K Madhu and script writer SN Swamy. Mammootty will be reprising his role of the intelligent CBI officer Sethurama Iyer.

Along with him, Mukesh and Sai Kumar will be reprising their respective characters, Chacko and Sathyadas. Latest addition to the cast is Renji Panicker. He will be seen playing a crucial role in ‘CBI 5’. It must be noted that only Mammootty and Mukesh been part of all five installments in the CBI series. Sai Kumar had appeared in the third part ‘Sethurama Iyer CBI’.

Shoot for ‘CBI 5’ shoot was originally planned to begin in June. Since the film demands a lot of outdoor shoot and the involvement of several artists, the makers are waiting for the situation to get better. Swargachithram Appachan is producing the film.

As we already reported, Kannan Thamarakkulam is directing a film based on the Maradu flats demolition, an incident that grabbed widespread attention in Kerala. Titled as ‘Maradu 357’, the film is scripted by Dinnesh Pallath. A teaser featuring Anoop Menon’s monologue has been released online. Prithviraj shared the teaser through his official social media handle.

‘Maradu 357’ has a big supporting cast. Anoop Menon plays one of the lead roles. Dharmajan who is mostly known for his comedy roles is playing a performance oriented character. He will be seen as a flat security who has his one hand amputated. Manoj J Jayan, Sheelu Abraham, Noorin Sherif, Baiju Santhosh, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Sarayu, Kailash, Sudheesh and many others are also part of the film.

‘Maradu 357’ has camera handled by Ravichandran and editing done by VT Sreejith. The band 4 Musics has composed the songs while background score is done by Saanand George Grace. Abaam Movies and Swarnalaya Cinemas are jointly producing the film.

It is Tamil star Suriya’a 45th birthday today and just like every year, social medias are flooded with wishes. On this special day, the makers of Suriya’s upcoming films have been sharing new updates for his fans. After the song teaser release by ‘Soorarai Pottru’ team, the makers of ‘Vaadivasal’ have shared the first look poster. The film marks Suriya’a first time collaboration with award-winning filmmaker Vetrimaaran.

‘Vaadivasal’ is based on CS Chellappa’s popular novel of the same name. It is actually centred around Jallikkattu, a famous bull taming sport practiced from the Tamil classical period. Vaadivasal is the narrow gate through which the Jallikattu bulls are let out for young men to subdue. Reports suggest that it is a tale of revenge about how an youngster defeats a bull that killed his father.

Tamil star Suriya is turning 45 today and as usual social medias are flooded with birthday wishes. From Malayalam industry, young stars like Nivin Pauly, Dulquer Salmaan, Unni Mukundan, Asif Ali, Antony Varghese and Aju Varghese have wished Suriya through their respective social media handle.

Earlier in the day, to make Suriya’s birthday special, the makers of his upcoming film ‘Soorarai Pottru’ released a song teaser online. It is a 1-minute long cut from the song ‘Kaattu Payale’ that features Suriya and Aparna Balamurali as a newly wed couple. ‘Rowdy Baby’ fame Dhee has sung the track and is composed by GV Prakash.

‘Soorarai Pottru’ is expected to release soon after theatres start functioning normally. The star has also signed for films with directors Hari, Vetrimaaran and Siva. He is also in talks to play one of the leads in an upcoming Tamil web series for Amazon Prime which will be headlined by Mani Ratnam.

The cast also includes Paresh Rawal, Urvashi, Karunas, Vivek Prasanna, Kaali Venkat and Mohan Babu.

With the censoring already done, the film is expected to release soon after theatres start functioning normally.

After delivering a string of impressive performances, Sreenath Bhasi is in a good space right now with offers flooding him. His last released film ‘Kappela’ earned him rave reviews and he now has a handful of promising projects. Bhasi was signed to play a major role in the Mammootty starrer ‘The Priest’. However, due to date issues the actor has opted out. It is not yet sure who replaced him in the film.

‘The Priest’ directed by debutant Jofin T Chacko is a mystery thriller. Manju Warrier plays the female lead in the film. There is also an elaborate supporting cast comprising Nikhila Vimal, Saniya Iyappan, Baby Monica of ‘Kaithi’ fame, Jagadheesh, Ramesh Pisharody, ‘Karikku’ fame Ameya Mathew, Venkitesh and Tony Luke. Shoot was progressing at a rapid pace when the lockdown was announced. Mammootty has already finished shooting his portions. Once the Corona crisis is over, the makers are expected to resume shooting for the remaining portions.

Sreenath Bhasi meanwhile has films like ‘Sumesh and Ramesh’ and ‘Idi Mazha Kaattu’ coming up. He will also be seen in the upcoming films of directors Arun Kumar Arvind, Amal Neerad and Abhilash Kumar.

After delivering back to back hits with ‘Sunday Holiday’ and ‘Vijay Superum Pournamiyum’, director Jis Joy is teaming up with Kunchacko Boban next. Titled as ‘Mohan Kumar Fans’, it is a meta-movie about the world of cinema. According to Jis Joy, ‘Udhayananu Tharam’ was the last Malayalam film in that genre that could be watched with families. ‘Mohan Kumar Fans’ will be on similar lines with lot of entertaining factors to satisfy a wide range of audience.

‘Mohan Kumar Fans’ has its story penned by the National award winning writer duo of Bobby and Sanjay. Director Jis Joy has written the screenplay, dialogues and song lyrics. Music has much importance in the film and there are a total of seven songs. Songs are composed by Prince George of ‘Vijay Superum Pournamiyum’ fame while background score is done by William Francis of ‘Kettiyolaanu Ente Malakha’ fame.

Debutante Anarkali plays the femals lead in ‘Mohan Kumar Fans’. The film’s supporting cast includes Sreenivasan, Mukesh, TG Ravi, Ramesh Pisharody, Srikanth Murali, Sethulekshmi and many others. Listin Stephen is producing it under the banner of Magic Frames.
