Hollywood actor Louis Mandylor in Omar Lulu-Babu Antony film Powerstar!

Malayalam filmmaker Omar Lulu’s next with Babu Antony titled ‘Powerstar’ is gearing up to go on floors. The makers are planning to start shooting as soon as the Covid-19 situation gets better. Pre-production works including casting is currently being finalized. The makers had earlier informed that the film will have some major actors from Hollywood also as part of the cast.

It is now learnt that they have got Louis Mandylor on board. He an Australian film and television actor, who is best recognized as Nick Portokalos in ‘My Big Fat Greek Wedding’ and its sequel ‘My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2’. He has acted in around 100 films, besides directing a couple and producing five others. He is expected to be playing a strong role in ‘Powerstar’.

The film scripted by veteran Dennis Joseph is planned as a complete action-packed entertainer. The story is centred around drug deals and will be shot majorly in Mangalore, Kasargod and Kochi. The cast of ‘Powerstar’ also has Baburaj, Riyas Khan and Abu Salim in major roles.

An official announcement with full details regarding the cast and crew is likely to be made soon.

Official: Deepika Padukone to play the female lead in Prabhas 21

Prabhas and ‘Mahanati’ director Nag Ashwin are coming together for a massive project backed by Vyjayanthi Films. The legendary production is celebrating their 50th anniversary and this project is hence a very prestigious one for them. It is being planned as a pan-Indian film with a mammoth budget of over Rs 400 crore. Apart from Telugu, the film will be made in Tamil, Malayalam, Hindi, English and various other languages.

The makers of ‘Prabhas 21’ have now made a huge announcement. One of Indian cinema’s leading actresses, Deepika Padukone has been signed as the female lead. The news has created quite a buzz in social medias as fans are already very excited to see Deepika and Prabhas together on screen for the first time.

Reports suggest that ‘Prabhas 21’ is a futuristic sci-fi thriller set against the backdrop of an imaginary third world war. The film shows the protagonist caught in a war zone and how he takes control of it forms the crux of the plot. The makers are yet to confirm this. The film is planned to start rolling in April next year and expected to release in 2022.

As informed earlier by the makers, the first look poster of Nivin Pauly’s upcoming film ‘Padavettu’ has been released online. The film is written and directed by debutant Liju Krishna. Actor Sunny Wayne is maiden his feature film production debut with it. New Surya Films is presenting the film. Shoot is currently stalled halfway due to the Covid-19 situation.

He will be appearing in two different looks. The actor had piled put extra weight for the first schedule of shoot. In the next leg of shoot, which is expected to begin soon after the Corona crisis is over, he will be sporting a lean look for which he has already shed around 10 kilos.

‘Aruvi’ fame Aditi Balan is making her Malayalam debut with ‘Padavettu’. While she plays the female lead, Manju Warrrier is also there in an important role. On the technical side, Deepak D Menon wields the camera and edits are being done by Shafique Mohamed Ali. Govind Vasantha is handling the music department.

Nivin Pauly-Aishwarya Lekshmi starrer Bismi Special will be a romantic film!

Recently, it was announced that the ‘Njandukalude Naatil Oridavela’ pair of Nivin Pauly and Aishwarya Lekshmi will be reuniting for a new film titled ‘Bismi Special’. It will be directed by newcomer Rajesh Ravi. He has also scripted the film along with two other scenarists, Rahul Ramesh and Sanu Majeed. Sophia Paul of Weekend Blockbusters is producing the film.

‘Bismi Special’ is an unusual romantic tale set in Mattanchery. Though the location has been showcased multiple times in Malayalam films as a shady downtown, the makers of this film are trying to show the ordinary life of the people residing there. Along with Nivin and Aishu, Vinay Forrt will also be seen in a major role. On the technical front, Sanu Varghese will be handling the cinematography and music will be composed by Sushin Shyam. Muhammed Ali is the editor.

Shoot will be commencing only after the situation gets better and government grants permission for outdoor shoot.

The first look poster of Nivin Pauly starrer ‘Padavettu’ will be out tomorrow (July 19) at 10 AM. The star himself informed the same through his official social media handle. Recently, the makers of ‘Padavettu’ handed over a special gift to Nivin on celebrating his 10th year in cinema. The gift which was not revealed is most likely to be the first look poster of ‘Padavettu’.

The film is directed by debutant Liju Krishna. It is only recently that web series found popularity among the Malayali audience. Several filmmakers are currently working on new ideas for web series. Before the trend begun, director Mridual Nair had started works on his web series titled ‘Instagrammam’. It was officially launched by superstar Mammootty couple of years back. Unfortunately, OTTs were then not very keen on exploring the Malayalam market. It seems like things are finally falling in place.

The trailer of ‘Instagrammam’ was released online last day. It is a rural-based story set in a fictional village named Andippara. Mridul has scripted it along with Ramakrishna Kulur. The series has a huge cast comprising of well known actors like Deepak Parambol, Balu Varghese, Ganapathy, Arjun Ashokan, Subhish Sudhi, Sabumon, Alencier Ley Lopez, Dinesh Prabhakar, Rajesh Sharma, Unni Rajan P Dev and many others. Stars like Sunny Wayne, Aditi Ravi and Gayathri Suresh will also be appearing in guest roles.

The makers have not yet made an official announcement about the where ‘Instagrammam’ will be streaming.

Last day, Nivin Pauly had announced that he would be starring in a new film titled ‘Gangster of Mundanmala’ (GoM). A new team is associated with the film. It is scripted by debutant Aneesh Rajasekharan and will be directed by newbie Ronnie Manuel Joseph.
Nivin himself is producing the film along with Ravi Mathew Productions.

According to the makers, ‘Gangster of Mundanmala’ is a proper action flick set in a rural backdrop. Since the story demands to be shot using crowd in outdoor locations, the makers have decided to wait till the Corona crisis gets over. Justin Varghese of ‘Njandukalude Naatil Oridavela’ and ‘Thanneer Mathan Dhinangal’ will be composing the music. Other cast and crew members are yet to be finalized.

‘Gangster of Mundanmala’ is Nivin Pauly’s third production venture. He had earlier produced ‘Action Hero Biju’ and ‘Njandukalude Naatil Oridavela’. Both the films were superhits at the box office. With ‘GoM’, the star will be looking forward to continue the successful run.

Directed by Priyadarshan, ‘Marakkar’ is an epic historic film made on a huge canvas with several stars and top technicians.

The film is actually based on the life of Kunjali Marakkar IV. Kunjali Marakkar is regarded as India’s first naval chieftain. Kunjali Marakkar was the title given to the naval chief of Zamorin of Calicut in the 16th century, whose duty was to protect the coast against the invading Portuguese army.

In a recent interview, she revealed that she has been thinking about screenplay writing for a while but finding time was quite a task. Now, due to the lockdown, she gets enough time. Nithya is also not very keen on finishing it in a particular time frame.

Last day marked the 10th anniversary of ‘Malarvadi Arts Club’, a film that introduced a bunch of talents to Malayalam cinema. Nivin Pauly, one of the biggest stars in the industry today, had also made his debut with it. So the actor is celebrating a decade in cinema this hear and it is indeed a special occasion. The makers of his upcoming film ‘Padavettu’ handed over a special gift for the star, which will be revealed soon.
