Actor Ashwin Kumar’s treadmill dance for ‘Annathe Aadurar’ song from the yesteryear Tamil film ‘Apoorva Sahodharangal’ had gone viral across social medias. Ashwin got the vintage Kamal Haasan mannerisms spot on while dancing riskily on a treadmill. The video was shared by many top celebrities including the legend Kamal himself. He had tweeted the video and praised Ashwin for his efforts.

Upon popular request from his followers, Ashwin then followed it up with a treadmill dance for the song ‘Vaathi Coming’ song from Thalapathy Vijay’s ‘Master’. He is now back with the third video in which he is seen dancing to the beats of ‘Jai Jain Shiv Shankar’ from the blockbuster Hindi film ‘War’. Ashwin has effortlessly danced to this song, which was originally performed by Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff, arguably two of the best dancers in the country.

Ashwin’s followers are now eagerly waiting for the next dance performance.

Anurag Kashyap is all praise for Muhammed Mustafa’s Kappela!

Ever since its release in streaming platform Netflix, ‘Kappela’ has been getting a lot of positive response. Active discussions about the film’s politics is also happening in various social media groups. Directed by actor-turned-filmmaker Muhammed Mustafa, ‘Kappela’ is the story of a young woman from a rural background who gets trapped in a particular situation. Basically, the film tries to tell how human perceptions can go awfully wrong.

Bollywood filmmaker has tweeted in praise of ‘Kappela’ after watching it from Netflix. He specially mentioned the film’s screenplay, which he found incredible, and also added that he is looking forward to Mustafa’s upcoming films. It is worth a mention that it was Kashyap who released the film’s trailer through his social media handle. His recent tweet reads,

‘Kappela’ was the last mainstream Malayalam film to hit screens in Kerala before the lockdown was announced. The film got released in theatres across Kerala on March 4 and opened to pretty good reviews. However, due to the Covid-19 outbreak, theatre response was largely dull and eventually, the run had to be cut short.

‘Kappela’ stars Anna Ben, Roshan Mathew and Sreenath Bhasi in the lead roles. Director Musthafa has scripted the film jointly with Nikhil Vahid and Sudhas. Anna Ben, Sreenath Bhasi and Roshan Mathew play the lead roles. ‘Ambili’ fame Tanvi Ram, James Elia, Vijileesh, Navas Vallikkunnu, Sudheesh, Nisha Sarang and Sudhi Koppa have essayed supporting roles.

As informed earlier by the makers, the first single from Vikram starrer ‘Cobra’ has been released online. The track titled ‘Thumbi Thullal’ is a celebration song centred around an engagement ceremony. Vikram and lead actress Srinidhi Shetty of KGF fame are seen as a couple. The song is composed by maestro AR Rahman.

‘Cobra’ is written and directed by Ajay Gnanamuthu of ‘Demonte Colony’ and ‘Imaikka Nodigal’ fame. The film is said to be a thriller made on a big canvas. Apart from Vikram and Srinidhi Shetty, the film also has an elaborate star cast comprising of actors from various languages. Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan is making his acting debut with this film. He is said to be essaying a very crucial role.

Grace Antony sheds 14 kgs for Simply Soumya!

Male actors undergoing physical transformation for films is seen regularly. But it is not often that we hear about a female actor going through such a transformation. Last year, debutante Farah Shibla had put on lot of weight for the film ‘Kakshi Amminipilla’. Now we are hearing about actress Grace Antony shedding around 14 kilos her new film ‘Simply Soumya’. The film marks the directorial debut of Abilash Kumar, who was one the scenarists of ’22 Female Kottayam’.

For the last few months, Grace has been on a strict diet to reduce weight as the character in ‘Simply Soumya’ demanded it. A combination of healthy diet and regular exercises has helped her achieve the goal. The actress also admits that it is quite difficult to maintain that weight.

Grace made her acting debut in 2016 with ‘Happy Wedding’. She continued doing small roles till ‘Kumbalangi Nights’ happened. Her performance in it got noted and she started getting several offers. She later did notable roles in films like ‘Thamaasha’ and ‘Prathi Poovankozhi’. ‘Halal Love Story’ and ‘Sajan Bakery Since 1961’ are her other upcoming films.

Meanwhile, Grace had also made her directorial debut recently with a short film titled ‘K-nowledge’. Grace also scripted the film which is about two girl kids who experience their first menstruation. The 14-minute-long film has already fetched over 1 lakh views in YouTube.

Malik opens with a 12-minute-long single shot sequence, reveals Mahesh Narayanan

‘Malik’ starring Fahadh Faasil and directed by Mahesh Narayanan of ‘Take Off’ fame was supposed to release in April but had to be postponed due to the lockdown. It is an eagerly awaited film that has been made on a big canvas with a budget of close to Rs 30 crores. The is based on a true incident that occurred few years back in Kerala.

Mahesh himself has scripted the film. The narrative is centered around a sensitive coastal area where there was a resistance against the constant threat of displacement of a minority community. The film will be capturing the evolution of the coastal area from the 60s to present age.

In a recent interview to The Cue, Mahesh revealed that he has attempted something new in ‘Malik’. Apparently, the first 12 minutes in the film is a single shot sequence. The shots are stitched together to make it seamless and he believes that the opening demanded such a treatment. Usually, single shots are used to capture action or chase sequences but in ‘Malik’, they have implemented it for introducing the various characters and their current state.

Sanu John Varughese, who was the DOP in ‘Take Off’ has been retained in ‘Malik’ as well. He is a veteran cinematographer who has worked many big names in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi languages. Besides directing and scripting, Mahesh Narayanan is also editing the film. Music director Sushin Shyam, production desinger Santhosh Raman and sound designers Vishnu Govind and Sree Sankar are also part of the technical team.

The cast includes Nimisha Sajayan, Dileesh Pothan, Vinay Forrt, Indrans, Sudhi Koppa, Chandhunath, yesteryear actress Jalaja, Maala Parvathy and many others. Anto Joseph Film Company is producing the film and Aan Mega Media will be releasing it in Kerala.

Recently, on Suresh Gopi’s birthday, the teaser of his upcoming film ‘Kaaval’ was released online. The teaser which has a duration of just over 1-minute is elevated by a mass background score composed by Ranjin Raj. Ranjin has now taken to his social media handle to thank everyone for the response. Along with that, he has also shared an audio clip in which Suresh Gopi is heard heaping praise on the music.

A day prior to the release of the teaser, after finalizing the edit, director Nithin Renji Panicker had sent the background score alone to Suresh Gopi through WhatsApp. The response the team got was overwhelming as Suresh Gopi was mighty impressed by the music. He felt that the score captures the entire mood of the film perfectly.

Ranjin, who has worked in numerous ad films, first made his mark with the film ‘Joseph’. ‘Kaaval’ is his first attempt in scoring for a full fledged mass entertainer and he is quite thrilled about it. In an interview with us, he had opened up about how he is a big fan of mass films and his love for scoring such over-the-top music.

‘Kaaval’ shoot was on the verge of competition when lockdown was announced. The team has still got 10 more days of shoot left and it’s expected to be resumed once lockdown restrictions are over.

Mammootty to start shooting for CBI 5 soon

After restrictions over film shoots are lifted and things return back to normalcy, Mammootty will start shooting for ‘CBI 5’. He was supposed to start working on ‘Bilal’ in March but due to the lockdown, the film had to be postponed. ‘CBI 5’, which will be the last in the franchise has lot of indoor and outdoor shoot. So shoot will begin right after the current crisis situation is over.

‘CBI 5’ marks the reunion of the trio of Mammootty, director K Madhu and script writer SN Swamy are reuniting once again. Mammootty will once again be back as the investigating officer Sethurama Iyer, one of his most popular characters ever. According to SN Swamy, ‘CBI 5’ will be one of the best ever thrillers that Malayalam industry has produced till date. The film will be centred around basket killing, a term the makers have coined.

Pre-production works for the same have already begun. On the technical front, Jakes Bejoy has been signed as the music director.

More details are expected to be revealed in the coming days.

Omar Lulu’s upcoming film ‘Powerstar’ starring Babu Antony in the lead has created a buzz before going on the floors. Veteran Dennis Joseph is making a comeback after a long gap by scripting this film. Babu Antony is also playing a hero’s role after several years. All these factors have heightened the expectations.

As assured by the makers, ‘Powerstar’ will be a full-on mass entertainer with plenty of action. Omar has written in his social media handle that there won’t be any over the top stunts but only realistically choreographed ones. Along with Babu Antony, the cast also includes Baburaj, Riyas Khan, Abu Salim and Bineesh Bastin. All these actors are known for their amazing ability to perform stunt sequences. So we can expect to see some riveting action blocks in the film. Two major actors from Hollywood are also said to be part of the cast.

Grace Antony’s directorial debut K-nowledge is good fun with an important message!

Actress Grace Antony, who shot to fame with the character Simi in ‘Kumbalangi Nights’, has turned a director. Her short film titled ‘K-nowledge’ got released online last day. Grace has also scripted the film which is about two girl kids who experience their first mensuration. Powered by adorable performances from the two kids, Ahina Andrews and Anahira Maria’, this 14-minute film offers good fun.

The realistic dialogues penned by Grace Antony and the innocence of the two kids gels in superbly to make it a worthy watch. Apart from the kids, Grace and Niranjana Anoop appear towards the final part of the film where the message is kind of preached. Aby Tom Cyriac and Grace have jointly produced the short film. The former has also composed the background score. Edits and coloring is done by Shanoob Karuvathu while camera is handled by Ajay Kunjumon.

On the acting front, Grace Antony has Zakariya’s ‘Halal Love Story’ and ‘Sajan Bakery Since 1962’ coming up.
