Check out this new fun party number from Dhamaka!

Director Omar Lulu’s new film ‘Dhamaka’ is all set to hit screens on January 2. The film was originally scheduled for release on December 20 amidst a host of other films but got postponed. This new release date seems to be ideal and interestingly, ‘Dhamaka’ will be the first Malayalam release of 2020.

Meanwhile, a new song from the film has been shared online. This party number features ‘Oru Adaar Love’ fame Noorin Shereef and Arun Kumar. Noorin makes a cameo appearance in the film in this song alone. Gopi Sunder has composed the track. Earlier, Millennium Audios have bagged the audio rights of the film for a whopping Rs 25 lakhs. This is said to be a huge figure considering the fact that the film has no big star presence in it.

‘Dhamaka’ promises to be a typical Omar Lulu style colourful entertainer. Arun Kumar and Nikki Galrani in the lead roles. The film has its story penned by Omar Lulu, while screenplay and dialogues are written jointly by Sarang Jayaprakash, Venu OV and Kiran Lal. Mukesh, Urvashi, Innocent, Neha Saxena, Sabumon Abdusamad, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Shalin Zoya, Hareesh Kanaran and many others are part of the supporting cast. MK Nassar is producing the film under the banner of Good Line Productions.

After the extraordinary response for the first teaser, the makers of ‘Shylock’ have planned to release a new one on 12.01 AM tonight as a New Year treat for fans. In the first teaser, Mammootty looked extremely stylish with his devilish laugh and attitude. His character in ‘Shylock’ looks like a combination of Nithyananda Shenoy of ‘Puthan Panam’ and Rajan Zacharia of ‘Kasaba’.

‘Shylock’ directed by Ajai Vasudev is gearing up to hit screens. Joby George of Goodwill Entertainment is producing the film, which is slated to release on January 23. Scripted jointly by Bibin Mohan and Aneesh Hameed, the film is touted to be a complete mass entertainer.

‘Shylock’ is a Tamil-Malayalam bilingual with the Tamil version titled as ‘Kuberan’. Veteran Tamil actor Raj Kiran is making his Malayalam debut with this film. He has also penned the dialogues for the Tamil version.

Meena, Bibin George, Baiju, Siddique, Kalabhavan Shajohn, Anson Paul, Arthana Binu, John Vijay, Arjun Nandakumar, Hareesh Kanaran and many others are also part of the supporting cast.

Watch out for a massive update on Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham today evening!

Priyadarshan’s ambitious film ‘Marakkar Arabikadalinte Simham’ is nearing the final stages of post-production phase. The makers had earlier announced that the film would be a 2020 summer release in March. Last day, Antony Perumbavoor informed that a big update regarding the film will be made today evening at 6 PM. Needless to say, fans are highly excited about it. There is a buzz that the first look poster will be out on New Year’s Day but let’s wait for the official word.

‘Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham’ is an epic period film made as the most expensive project in Malayalam cinema history. The film is based on the life of Kunjali Marakkar IV. Kunjali Marakkar was the title given to the naval chief of Zamorin of Calicut in the 16th century, whose duty was to protect the coast against the invading Portuguese army. Superstar Mohanlal plays the lead role of Kunjali Marakkar IV.

The film’s cast includes actors from across the country like Suniel Shetty, Arjun Sarja, Keerthy Suresh, Manju Warrier, Ashok Selvan, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Prabhu, Mukesh, Suhasini Mani Ratnam, Fazil, Siddique, Baburaj, Nedumudi Venu, Hareesh Perady, Nandu, Innocent, Ganesh Kumar and Suresh Kumar. National award winner Tirru is the cinematographer.

Director Salam Bappu impressed by the new trimmed version of Valiya Perunnal

‘Valiya Perunnal’ starring Shane Nigam in the lead hit screens last Friday (December 20). The film opened to pretty decent reviews from the critics. However, many were critical of the run time which was over 3 hours. The makers have now trimmed and released a new version, which is around 25 minutes shorter.

Director Salam Bappu, who has made films like ‘Red Wine’ and ‘Manglish’, seem to be impressed by the new version of ‘Valiya Perunnal’. In a detailed note on his Facebook page, he appreciated director Dimal Dennis and his team for authentically recreating a real life incident that occurred in Kochi.

In addition to that, Salam Bappu has mentioned about the performances of actors Shane Nigam, Himika Bose, Joju George and the bunch of newcomers. He also noted that the presence of actors like Soubin Shahir, Atul Kulkarni, Vinayakan, Alencier Ley, Captain Raju and Dharmajan were positives for the film.

Empuraan shoot will begin only by the end of 2021: Murali Gopy

After the record breaking success of ‘Lucifer’, it was officially announced that the film will be having a second part. Titled as ‘Empuraan’, the film will see Mohanlal returning as Khureshi Ab’raam aka Stephen Nedumbally. Prithviraj, apart from directing the film, will be reprising his role of Zayed Masood. Aashiravd Cinemas will be producing the film, which according to the makers, will be much bigger in terms of in terms of scale and treatment style.

Though it was announced that shoot will be starting by mid-2020, they have now postponed it owing to other commitments of the parties involved. Scriptwriter Murali Gopy himself revealed this in a recent interview. Apparently, ‘Empuraan’ will start rolling only by the end of 2021.

Mohanlal meanwhile will be working on his ambitious directorial debut ‘Barroz’ and Murali Gopy-Prithviraj duo will be working together in another film, which will be directed by ‘Kammarasambhavam’ fame Rathish Ambat.

A new song teaser of Rajinikanth’s upcoming film ‘Darbar’ has been released online. It is a wedding song featuring the superstar along with his last counterpart, Nayanthara. Rajinikanth looks young as ever and Nayanthara complements him well. Nakash Aziz has sung the track, which is set to tunes by Anirudh Ravichander. Vivek has penned the lyrics.

‘Darbar’ is getting ready for theatrical release next month during the Pongal holidays. The film is most likely to hit screens on January 9. Written and directed by AR Murugadoss, ‘Darbar’ is a cop action thriller that has the Rajinikanth in a police officer’s role after over two decades. Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty plays the villain role. Prateik Babbar, Sriman, Yogi Babu, cricketer Yuvraj Singh’s Yograj Singh and many others are part of the cast.

Trade circles have pinned high hopes on ‘Darbar’ as the promos have been highly promising so far. They will be hoping to kick start the new year with a big blockbuster. Lyca Productions is producing the film.

Parvathy wraps up shooting for Venu’s film!

We had recently reported about cinematographer-turned-filmmaker Venu directing a new film with Parvathy and Asif Ali in the leads. The film is part of the upcoming anthology film that also has works by directors Jay K, Rajeev Ravi and Aashiq Abu. Parvathy has completed all her works for the film including dubbing. The actress shared a photo taken with the team last day to inform the same.

All the four films in this upcoming anthology flick have female-centric stories as the common theme. Venu’s segment is based on Sahitya Akademi Award winning writer Uroob’s popular short story ‘Rachiyamma’. Venu himself has adapted the screenplay based on ‘Rachiyamma’, which was originally written in 1969.

Jay K and Aashiq Abu have also completed their works. Rajeev Ravi is likely to start shooting his film only after the completion of his ambitious feature, ‘Thuramukham’. While Jay K’s film stars Samyuktha Menon and Joju George, Roshan Mathew and Darshana Rajendran play the lead roles in Aashiq Abu’s film ‘Pennum Cherukkanum’.

The official teaser of Vijay Antony starrer ‘Thamezharasan’ has been released online. It is a cop action-thriller featuring Vijay Antony as a police officer. The film is directed by Babu Yogeswaran, who had earlier helmed the Jayam Ravi starrer ‘Daas’. Remya Nambeesan plays Vijay Antony’s pair in this upcoming movie.

Veteran Malayalam actor Suresh Gopi is also part of the film. It has been a while since he has acted in films. He last had a release four years back in 2015. So this is sort of a comeback for him. Reportedly, the actor plays a doctor in the film and it is said to be a very prominent role.

Bollywood actor Sonu Sood, Bhumika, Munishkanth, Robo Shankar, Yogi Babu, and director Mohan Raja’s son, Pranav are also part of the movie’s supporting cast. ‘Thamezharasan’ has music composed by Ilayaraja, cinematography by RD Rajasekhar and edits by Bhuvan Srinivasan.

As ‘Prathi Poovankozhi’ continues its good run at the Kerala box office, the makers have released a new promo video featuring Rosshan Andrrews. He plays the villain character named Antappan in the film. Rosshan, who is making his acting debut, has given a fiery performance that is right up there with any seasoned actor.

‘Prathi Poovankozhi’ scripted by Unni R is centred around Madhuri, an ordinary woman working in a textile shop in Kottayam. While on her way to her work place, she gets physically harassed in a bus. The incident has a deep impact on her and she decides to track down the molester and teach him a lesson.

Manju Warrier’s popularity among the family audience and the fact that the film deals with a relevant social issue has worked big time. Even in its second week of theatrical run, the film is having good occupancy at almost all the centres. This comes despite facing stiff competition from other Christmas releases. Positive response in social medias is also helping in attracting the audience to theatres.

Driving Licence crosses the 10 crore mark at Kerala box office!

‘Driving Licence’ directed by Jean Paul Lal continues to excel at all the centres. As per trade reports, the film has successfully breached the Rs 10 crore mark at Kerala box office. In its second week of theatrical run, the screen count in Kerala has increased to over 180 centres as opposed to the 150 odd screens during its original release on December 20. With that, it is now safe to declare ‘Driving Licence’ as a box office hit as well as the Christmas winner this year.

‘Driving Licence’ scripted by Sachy has Prithviraj Sukumaran and Suraj Venjaramoodu in the lead roles. The film has got unanimously positive response from all corners. Critic reviews were also encouraging with special mention for the performance of its two lead actors. Popular opinion is that the film is a well-made commercial entertainer.

‘Driving Licence’ has a very interesting storyline centred around a film star and his ardent fan, who is a motor vehicle inspector. As circumstances turn out, the two lock horns and they constantly try to outsmart each other. It is their clash of ego and power abuse that take the film forward. Along with Prithviraj and Suraj, the film also has notable performances from Miya George, Nandu, Suresh Krishna, Lalu Alex and Saiju Kurup.
