Keshu Ee Veedinte Nathan: Dileep and Urvashi to team up for the first time!

Dileep’s new film ‘Keshu Ee Veedinte Nathan’ was launched today (December 5) with a formal switch on ceremony held in Kochi. Nadhirshah is directing the film and is scripted by Sajeev Pazhoor. NAD Group is producing the film and Dileep will presenting it. Interestingly, the film has Urvashi as the female lead. This is the first time that Dileep and Urvashi are acting together.

‘Keshu Ee Veedinte Ee Nathan’ is a family entertainer in which Dileep is said to ne playing the role of a 60-year-old. The actor will hence be undergoing a major transformation look-wise. Both Dileep and Urvashi are actors with amazing comic timing and with Nadhirshah at the helm of things, we can expect a proper fun entertainer. Sajeev Pazhoor is also an acclaimed writer, whose screenplay for ‘Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum’ had won him a National award.

‘Keshu Ee Veedinte Nathan’ has a huge set of supporting actors comprising of Anusree, Siddique, Salim Kumar, Harisree Ashokan, Kalabhavan Shajohn, Hareesh Kanaran, Sreejith Ravi, Jaffer Idukki, Kottayam Nazeer, Ganapathi, Swasika and many others. Cinematography is by Anil Nair and songs will be composed by Nadhirshah. Bijibal will be handling the background score. The makers are planning to release the film for Vishu next year.

Dr Biju’s new film ‘Veyilmarangal’ (Trees Under the Sun) grabbed attention when it was screened at various international film festival and bagged awards. Starring Indrans in the lead, the film tells the tale of a lower-caste family who move from an island in Kerala to the foothills of Himalayas. It’s trailer has been released online.

‘Veyilmarangal’ premiered at the Shanghai International Film Festival and bagged the ‘Outstanding Artistic Achievement Award’. It was the only Indian film in the main competition section. The film was selected for competing for the Golden Goblet Award for Best Feature Film along with 14 other films, shortlisted from 3964 submissions from 112 countries. It was also the first Indian film in 6 years to compete in the festival. By bagging the ‘Outstanding Artistic Achievement Award’, ‘Veyilmarangal’ became the Indian film to win an award at Shanghai.

Later at the Singapore South Asian International Film Festival, Indrans was chosen as the Best Actor for his extraordinary performance in the film.

Superstar Rajinikanth’s ‘Darbar’ is getting ready for Pongal release in January. Post-production works are in full progress. Recently, composer Anirudh Ravichander recorded a song with Hyderabad-based trans women. Chandramukhi, Rachana Mudraboina and Priya Murthi, who are all part of a band called Spicy Girls, got the opportunity to sing the special song. Vivek has penned the lyrics. This is a very heartening moment as such inclusiveness rarely exist in the film industry, especially in mainstream star-films.

As per reports, ‘Darbar’ features a scene involving a dance by the transgender community. Anirudh wanted to keep it authentic, so he decided to get trans women to record the song instead of regular playback singers. The trio of Chandramukhi, Rachana and Priya have rendered the song in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.

Darbar’, written and directed by AR Murugadoss, is a mass action-thriller that has Rajinikanth in a police officer’s role. Nayanthara is paired opposite him and Nivetha Thomas will be seen as his daughter. Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty is making his Tamil debut by playing the villain role.

Dhamaka audio rights bagged by Millennium Audios for a huge price!

Director Omar Lulu’s new film ‘Dhamaka’ is gearing up for release on December 20 during the Christmas season. The film promises to be a typical Omar Lulu style colourful entertainer. Songs released so far gave hints of the same. Meanwhile, Millennium Audios have bagged the audio rights of the film for a whopping Rs 25 lakhs. This is said to be a huge figure considering the fact that the film has no big star presence in it. Gopi Sunder has composed music for the film.

‘Dhamaka’ stars Arun Kumar and Nikki Galrani in the lead roles. The film has its story penned by Omar Lulu, while screenplay and dialogues are written jointly by Sarang Jayaprakash, Venu OV and Kiran Lal. As per the makers, it is a full-on comedy entertainer revolving around the hero’s impotency issue.

Senior actors Mukesh and Urvashi will be seen in prominent roles. Neha Saxena, Sabumon Abdusamad, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Shalin Zoya, Hareesh Kanaran and many others are part of the supporting cast. The technical crew comprises of Sinoj P Ayyappan as the DOP and Dilip Dennis as the editor. MK Nassar is producing the film under the banner of Good Line Productions.

Shabaash Mithu: Tapsee Pannu to star in Indian cricketer Mithali Raj’s biopic

Biopics are nothing new in Bollywood. For the last few years, Hindi filmmakers have been severely obsessed with biopics and real-life incident based films. Among them, the most popular category is sports biopics. The lives of sporting icons like Mary Kom, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Milkha Singh have all been brought on screen. Mithali Raj, arguable the greatest woman cricketer to have represented India, is the latest to get a biopic.

Taapsee Pannu is playing the lead in the film, which has been titled as ‘Shabaash Mithu’. The formal announcement was made last day on the occasion of Mithali’s birthday. ‘Raees’ fame Rahul Dholakia is directing the film. Tapsee took to her social media to inform the big news. She tweeted,

Shoot for the film is set to begin by mid_2020. Tapsee will be undergoing rigorous cricket training prior to that. Mithali Raj is a veteran with over 20 years of experience in international cricket. She is regarded as one of the greatest batswomen to have ever played the game. She owns numerous records like being the highest run-scorer in women’s international cricket and the only female cricketer to surpass the 6,000 run mark in WODIs. She is the also only woman cricketer to have played over 200 ODIs.

Superstar Rajinikanth’s next film, tentatively titled as ‘Thalaivar 168’, is getting ready to go on floors. This Siva directorial is produced by Sun Pictures. Pre-production works are currently progressing which includes finalizing the cast. Recently, there were reports about the makers trying to rope in either of Khushbu or Meena to play an important role in the film.

It is now being heard that the makers have finalized on Meena. However, it is not yet known if she is paired with Rajinikanth in the film. Interestingly, it is worth a mention that, Meena has acted with superstar as a child artist in ‘Anbulla Rajinikanth’ and as an adult has paired opposite him in films like ‘Yejamaan’, ‘Veera’ and ‘Muthu’.

‘Thalaivar 168’ is said to be a rural-based mass entertainer, something that Rajinikanth has not done of late. On the technical side, the same team of director Siva’s last film ‘Viswasam’ has been retained, which includes composer Imman, DOP Vetri and editor Ruben.

Idea Star Singer fame Hesham Abdul Wahab to compose music for Hridayam!

The official announcement of Vineeth Sreenivasan’s next directorial ‘Hridayam’ was made only recently. Pranav Mohanlal, Kalyani Priyadarshan and Darshana Rajendran will be seen playing the lead roles in the film. ‘Hridayam’ marks the return of Merryland Cinemas to production after nearly three decades. Visakh Subramaniam, who was one of the producers of ‘Love Action Drama’ heads the banner now. Noble Thomas is the co-producer.

‘Hridayam’ will have music composed by Hesham Abdul Wahab. This came as a big surprise as Vineeth usually collaborates with his friend Shaan Rahman. Shaan however has made it clear that there is no rift between the two. In fact, it was Shaan who announced the news about Hesham composing for ‘Hridyam’. He has written a detailed Facebook post, which reads,

Dear Friends, Hope you’re all doing well. Something has been bothering me since yesterday and if I don’t get it out of my head, I won’t be able to work/compose in peace. I won’t be composing music for Vineeth’s “Hridayam”. The music for “Hridayam” will be composed by my brother Hesham Abdul Wahab. Now, before all of you jump to any conclusions (you must’ve already ? ), I want to make a few things clear to all of you. Vineeth and I are fine. Cuz the first thought would be “Avar thammil adichu pirinju”. We met day before yesterday too when I was composing for Kunjeldho. So, we’re good. Now coming to Hesham. Both Vineeth and I had always felt that the guy never got what he deserved. He’s a might of talent who needed a perfect movie to show the world what he could truly do. And for us, its all about bringing new talents to the industry. So Vineeth and I decided that Hridayam would be composed by Hesham. The composing for Hridayam, Love Action Drama, Helen and Kunjeldho all happened simultaneously. And Vineeth was involved in all four movies. My support was much more needed for the first time directors. Dhyan, Mathukutty Xavier and RJ Mathukkutty. So yes, Hridayam will be composed by Hesham. We love him. I’ve even asked Vineeth to let Hesham use my studio for Hridayam if necessary. See, our friendship goes beyond movies and music. We’re a family and we’ll always remain a family. No matter what. As Vineeth once said, “Nee aareyengilum konnaalum naan ninde koode nikkum”. Thats us. And That’s Hridayam.

I’m writing this because since yesterday, I’ve been getting a lot of msgs like “Hridayam music polikkanam” and all. I felt bad and sad. All those good wishes should be going towards someone else and that’s Hesham. Who had already composed all the songs for Hridayam.

And besides, I too will be with you in Onam 2020 with Minnal Murali. Probably Aadu 3 right after that. 2403 ft too. So, you won’t miss me (sic)

Hesham Abdul Wahab is popular for his stint as a contestant in the reality show ‘Idea Star Singer’. He debuted as a music director in Malayalam film industry with ‘Salt Mango Tree’. ‘Capuccino’ and ‘Pretham Undu Sookshikkuka’ are some of the other films for which he has composed.

Tamil superstar Vijay, who is fondly called Thalapathy by his fans, has completed 27 years in the film industry today (December). Though he started his acting career as a child artist in Vetri (1984), it was ‘Naalaiya Theerpu’ in which he played a full-fledged debut. The film directed by his father SA Chandrasekhar and produced by his mother Sobha Chandrasekhar got released on December 4, 1992.

So as Vijay completes 27 glorious years in cinema, he has now reached a position that’s at an untouchable height. On this special occasion, his fans have been trending the hashtag #27YrsOfKwEmperorVIJAY in Twitter. The makers of his film, ‘Thalapthy 64’ (tentative title) have also released a special new still. It is not yet clear if this is the look Vijay will be sporting in the film.

‘Thalapathy 64’ directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj is one of the most hyped Tamil films in recent years. Vijay Sethupathi, ‘Kaithi’ fame Arjun Das, Andrea Jeremiah, Shanthanu and Malavika Mohanan are part of the cast. The team recently wrapped up the schedule in New Delhi and is next moving to Shimoga, Karnataka. They are planning to shoot there for over a month from December 1 to January 19. ‘Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham’ is a highly ambitious film helmed by the ace Priyadarshan. This epic period is said to be the most expensive project in Malayalam cinema history. Some big names from film ever made, there are a lot of expectations on it. One of the biggest among them is Sabu Cyril, the multiple-award winner who has handled the production design of this massive project.

Sabu Cyril is well known for his work in films like ‘Hey Ram’, ‘Enthiran’, ‘ Ra One’ and the ‘Baahubali’ series. He has also collaborated with Priyadarshan in several films like ‘Thenmavin Kombath’, ‘Kalapani’, ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ etc. According to Cyril, ‘Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham’ will be a milestone film in his career. If the visuals in the photos and sneak peek teaser is anything to go by, Cyril has certainly delivered the best possible output.

Though ‘Marakkar’ was shot on floors only for 3 months, it’s post-production has lasted over 9 months now. Such is the scale of the project that it requires over a year to complete the VFX and CG works. The film is based on the life of Kunjali Marakkar IV. Kunjali Marakkar was the title given to the naval chief of Zamorin of Calicut in the 16th century, whose duty was to protect the coast against the invading Portuguese army. Superstar Mohanlal plays the lead role of Kunjali Marakkar IV.

The film’s cast includes several other big stars from across the country. Suniel Shetty, Arjun Sarja, Keerthy Suresh, Manju Warrier, Ashok Selvan, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Prabhu, Mukesh, Suhasini Mani Ratnam, Fazil, Siddique, Baburaj, Nedumudi Venu, Hareesh Perady, Nandu, Innocent, Ganesh Kumar, Suresh Kumar and many others are part of the film. National award winner Tirru is the cinematographer.

Aashirvad Cinemas, Confident Group and Moonshot Entertainment are jointly producing the film, which is scheduled for March 2020 release.

Dulquer Salmaan sports yet another look for Kurup

Shoot for Dulquer Salmaan’s ‘Kurup’ is progressing in full swing. Srinath Rajendran is directing the film, which is based on the life of Kerala’s infamous criminal, Sukumara Kurup. All through the shoot, Dulquer has been seen sporting multiple looks in the film. The actor was most recently seen with a handlebar moustache. As the titular character, Kurup, he will be appearing in several getups in the film.

‘Kurup’ is one of the biggest Malayalam films in the making currently. Jithin K Jose has written the story and screenplay is penned jointly by KS Aravind and Daniel Sayooj Nair. Along with Dulquer, the cast also includes other big names like Indrajith Sukumaran, Tovino Thomas, Sunny Wayne, Sobhita Dhulipala and Shine Tom Chacko.
