Check out this new promo song from Joju-Nimisha starrer Chola

As ‘Chola’ gears up for release, the makers have released a new promo song online. The film directed by Sanal Kumar Sasidharan is slated to hit screens on December 6 amidst high expectations. Joju George, Nimisha Sajayan and debutant Akhil Vishwanath play the lead roles. Both Joju’s and Nimisha’s performance in the film were considered while honouring them with the State awards. Sanal Kumar also got a special jury mention for direction as well as sound design.

Earlier this year, ‘Chola’ premiered at the Venice International Film Festival. It was only the third Malayalam film to be screened there. The film is said to be a dark thriller that revolves around a school going girl’s journey with a midde-aged man. Director Sanal has scripted it jointly with KV Manikandan. Ajith Aacharya is the cinematographer and music is by Basil CJ and Sergey Cheremisnov.

Apart from the orginal Malayalam version, ‘Chola’ also has a Tamil version, which has been titled as ‘Alli’. Both the films are expected to release. Popular Tamil filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj is backing the Tamil version. It must be noted that Joju is making his Tamil debut with Karthik’s upcoming gangster thriller that stars Dhanush in the lead.

As informed earlier, the first song from Manju Warrier’s new film ‘Prathi Poovankozhi’ has been released online. Nivin Pauly shared the song composed by Gopi Sunder through his official Facebook page. The film is scripted by Unni R and directed by Rosshan Andrrews.

‘Prathi Poovankozhi’ has Manju Warrier and Ansuree essaying the roles of sales girls working in a textile outlet. Rosshan Andrrews is also making his acting debut by playing a negative role in the film. ‘Kumbalangi Nights’ fame Grace Antony, Saiju Kurup, Alencier Ley Lopez and ‘Marimayam’ Sreekumar are also part of the cast.

While ‘Prathi Poovankozhi’ was believed to be an adaptation of Unni R’s novel of the same name, director Rosshan had recently clarified that it is an entirely different film. G Balamurugan has cranked the camera and Sreekar Prasad takes care of the edits. Gopi Sunder is handling the music department. The film is being produced by Gokulam Gopalan under the banner of Sri Gokulam Films. It is slated to hit screens on December 20.

Dhanush’s film with Mari Selvaraj titled as Karnan

As we already know, director Mari Selvaraj of ‘Pariyerum Perumal’ (PP) is set to team up with Dhanush for his next film. Kalaipuli S Thanu of V Creations is producing the film, which is scheduled to go on floors next month. Casting and other pre-production works are currently under progress. Latest reports suggest that the film has been titled as ‘Karnan’.

Just like Mari Selvaraj’s debut film, ‘Karnan’ is also expected to be a content driven film with strong political undertones. Expectations are also quite high on it as Tamil cinema lovers expect to see another stand out performance from Dhanush. There are reports about the makers signing Malayali actress Rajisha Vijayan as the female lead but an official word has not yet been made. Veteran actor Lal has already been cast to play an important role. Santhosh Narayanan is the composer.

An official announcement with details regarding the full cast and crew will be made shortly.

Vijay Sethupathi and Antony Varghese to join Thalapathy 64 team next month

Shoot for ‘Thalapathy 64′ is currently progressing in New Delhi. The team is shooting in various colleges across the city as major portions of the film is set in a campus. Vijay is playing a college professor with an untold dark side in this Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial. Vijay Sethupathi has been cast as the antagonist. Malayali star Antony Varghese, Malavika Mohanan, Shanthanu Bhagyaraj, Andrea Jeremiah, ’96’ fame Gouri G Kishan and Ramya Subramanian are also part of the film.

Vijay Sethupathi and Antony will be joining the team only next month as they both are busy with their other commitments. Along with Sethupathi, Antony is also said to be playing a negative role in the film. Andrea’s character also has grey shades. She will be part of some action scenes for which she is currently undergoing special training. Interestingly, almost none of the major actors in the cast have shared screen space with Vijay before, so there will be a lot of freshness in the film.

As per the makers, ‘Thalapathy 64’ will be completely different film from the usual mass masala entertainers that Vijay does. Lokesh has scripted the film with additional screenplay by Pon Parthiban and ‘Aadai’ director Rathna Kumar. On the technical side, music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander and cinematography is by Sathyan Sooryan.

Xavier Britto is producing the film, which is scheduled for summer release in 2020.

Stand Up deals with a topic that is socially relevant and needs to be addressed: Rajisha Vijayan

‘Stand Up’ starring Nimisha Sajayan and Rajisha Vijayan in the leads is gearing up for release. The film is slated to hit screens on November 29. It is directed by Vidhu Vincent, who is the only woman to win a Kerala State award for best filmmaker. Vidhu won the award for her debut film ‘Manhole’. Unlike her maiden film, ‘Stand Up’ is a mainstream commercial film.

In a recent interview with us, lead actress Rajisha sounded very confident about the film. When asked about the factors that attracted her to the film, Rajisha said it was the unique premise of stand up comedy that primarily interested her. Moreover, the film deals with a very relevant social issue that she believes should not be just confined to social media hashtags but needs to addressed. She urged everyone to watch the film along with families.

‘Stand Up’ is scripted by Umesh Omanakuttan. The film also stars Arjun Ashokan, Venkitesh, Nisthar Sait, Seema, Sajitha Madathil, Jolly Chirayath, Rajesh Sharma, Sunil Sukhada and Divya Gopinathan. Its technical crew comprises of cinematographer Tobin Thomas, music director Varkey and editor Christy Sebastian. It is produced by B Unnikrishnan and Anto Joseph.

Malayali actress Parvathy has filed a police complaint of stalking against a man who claims to be a lawyer and director. Based on her complaint, an FIR has been filed under section 354D (Stalking) of IPC 120 of the Kerala Police Act. As per a report in The Newsminute, a man who calls himself Kishore contacted Parvathy’s brother through Facebook Messenger multiple times. He contacted her brother to enquire about her whereabouts and get in touch with her directly.

Though Parvathy was holidaying in US at the time, the man claimed that she was actually in Kochi and further claimed that she was in trouble with some kind of mafia and that he wished to save her from the same. When her brother dismissed the man’s claims, he started pestering him repeatedly with several messages on WhatsApp and Facebook, even claiming that he was in love with Parvathy. After her brother stopped responding, Kishore next started troubling her father. However, when her dad also stopped responding, the man even showed up at their house last month (October 14). Her parents then had to plead him to leave.

Parvathy says in the complaint that the continued harassment has taken a toll on her. She is quoted saying, “Stalking as a crime has not been taken seriously and this has resulted in so many women being harmed. Some even fatally. It is a very harrowing experience.”

Suriya’s ‘Soorarai Pottru’ is currently in the post-production stage. The team is working swiftly to ensure a smooth release early next year. Recently, lead actors Suriya and Aparna Balamurali had started dubbing for their portions. A photo of the two from the dubbing suite is currently circulating in social medias. This is Aparna’s third Tamil film after ‘8 Thottakal’ and ‘Sarvam Thaala Maayam’

‘Soorari Pottru’ directed by Sudha Kongara of ‘Irudhi Suttru’ fame is eagerly awaited by many. The film is loosely based on the life of GR Gopinath, the founder of Air Deccan, who is also a retired captain of the Indian army. It is scripted jointly by director Sudha and Shalini Usha Nair. GV Prakash is composing the music and cinematography is done by Niketh Bommireddy.

Sikhya Entertainment is producing the film jointly with Suriya’s own production house, 2D Entertainment. Official announcement regarding the release date is expected to be made soon.

Actor Dileep continues to experiment as he has now committed for a martial arts film. Titled as ‘Enter the Dragon’, it is scripted by Raffi and will be directed by debutant Saji Sukumar. It must be noted that ‘Enter the Dragon’ is the title of Bruce Lee’s iconic action film that got released in 1973. Meanwhile, Dileep’s film has been planned as a fun entertainer and will be shot mostly in China. Mini Studio is producing the film which is scheduled for Onam 2020 release.

Dileep and Raffi have previously collaborated for several hit films like ‘Punjabi House’, Thenkasipattanam’ and ‘Two Countries’. Raffi has also scripted the star’s ambitious 3D film ‘Professor Dinkan’, which is at the halfway of shoot.

Dileep currently has some very interesting films lined up in his kitty. After the completion of his ongoing film ‘My Santa’, he will start shooting for Nadhirshah’s ‘Keshu Ee Veedinte Nathan’. The actor also has ‘Parakkum Pappan’ and a media-based film with Joshiy coming up. Sequels for ‘Runway’ and ‘CID Moosa’ are also in the planning.

After a short break, shoot of ‘Kurup’ has resumed in full swing. Last week, the team had a brief schedule in Ahmedabad. After wrapping that up, the crew is now in Dubai. A few photos of Dulquer from the location have leaked online. He is seen sporting a thick goatee. As informed earlier, the star will be appearing in multiple looks in the film and this is expected to be one among them.

‘Kurup’ is one of the biggest Malayalam films in the making currently. Srinath Rajendran is directing the film, which is based on the life of Kerala’s infamous criminal, Sukumara Kurup. Jithin K Jose has written the story and screenplay is penned jointly by KS Aravind and Daniel Sayooj Nair.

For the uninformed, Sukumara Kurup is one of the most wanted criminals in the judicial history of Kerala. He is accused of murdering a person named Chacko in the year 1984. Chacko was strangled to death and his body was burnt inside a car. Kurup allegedly committed the crime to fake his own death and claim an insurance amount of Rs 8 lakhs by killing Chacko who bore a resemblance with him. Kurup is supposed to have fled abroad after the incident and has been absconding for over 30 years now.
