Veteran filmmaker Joshiy’s comeback film ‘Porinju Mariam Jose’ is getting ready for release. The makers have already started the promotions online and as part of it they have released a motion poster introducing all the characters. Apart from the lead cast of Joju George, Nyla Usha and Chemban Vinod Jose, the movie has an elaborate supporting cast as well.
Kalabhavan Niyas, Jayaraj Warrier, Sudhi Koppa, IM Vijayan, Rahul Madhav, Anil Nedumangad, Salim Kumar, Nandu, Sinoj, TG Ravi, Vijayaraghavan, Maala Parvathy, Swasika and Malavika feature in the new teaser, which is designed as a motion poster.
‘Porinju Mariam Jose’ scripted by Abilash N Chandran is Trissur-based mass entertainer that is set in the 80s. Joju George’s character in the movie is named Porinju, while Nyla essays the role of Alappat Mariyam. Chemban Vinod plays the role of Puthanpalli Jose.
Ajai David Kachappilly has cranked the camera and music is by Jakes Bejoy. Shyam Sasidharan is handling the edits. Rejimon is producing the movie under the banner of Keerthy Movies. As announced earlier by the makers, the movie will be hitting screens on August 15.
Shivane Anthom Kunthom: Check out this new song from Margamkali
Recently, the trailer of ‘Margamkali’ was released online and got good response in social medias. The makers have now shared a new song. Starring Bibin George and Namitha in the lead roles, the movie promises to be a complete fun filled entertainer. Sreejith Vijayan of ‘Kuttanadan Marapapa’ fame is directing the movie. Story and screenplay is penned by debutant Shashankan, while dialogues are written by lead actor Bibin himself.
‘Margamkali’ has a big supporting cast comprising of ’96’ fame Gouri Kishan, Dharmajan, Baiju, Hareesh Kanaran, Surabhi Santhosh, Shanthi Krishna, Siddique, Soumya Menon, Bindu Panicker and many others. In the technical side, Arvind Krishna has handled the camera and music is by Gopi Sunder. Johnkutty is in charge of the editing department.
‘Margamkali’ is being produced jointly by Alwin Antony and Listin Stephen under the banners of Magic Frames and Ananya Films. The movie is slated to hit screens next month.
Newcomer Pavithra Lekshmi paired with Shane Nigam in Ullasam
Recently, the makers of ‘Ullasam’ had released lead actor Shane Nigam’s new look for the movie. The actor’s stylish new look got great response in social medias with many pointing out his similarities with Ranbir Kapoor. Now the makers have introduced his pair, played by Pavithra Lekshmi, a newcomer.

‘Ullasam’ is directed by debutant Jeevan Jojo, who was a former associate of Ranjith Sankar, Deepu Karunakaran and Jeethu Joseph. Praveen Balakrishnan has scripted the movie. The movie’s supporting cast includes Aju Varghese, Deepak Parambol, Basil Joseph, Ambika, Appukutty, Indrans, Nayana and Parvathy. On the technical front, Swaroop Philip is wielding the camera and Shaan Rahman is handling the music department. Johnkutty is handling the edits.
Jo Kaithamattam and Christy Kaithamattam are producing ‘Ullasam’ under the banner of Kaithamattam Brothers. Final leg of shoot for the movie is currently progressing in Ootty.
First look poster of Dileep-Arjun starrer Jack Daniel is here!
As informed by the makers of ‘Jack Daniel’, the movie’s first look poster has been released online. The movie directed by SL Puram Jayasurya has Dileep and Arjun in the titular roles. The two actors are coming together for the first time and that’s the movie’s biggest selling point. It is being produced by Shibu Thameens of Thameens Films.

‘Jack Daniel’ is shaping up as an action packed thriller. The movie has Dileep as a robber named Jack and Arjun playing a CBI officer named Daniel. Apparently, it is a thrilling cat and mouse story between these two characters.
Anju Kurian fame plays the female lead. Saiju Kurup, Devan, Innocent, Janaradhanan, Ashokan, Suraj Venjaramoodu and Aju Varghese are also part of the supporting cast.
‘Jack Daniel’ has cinematography by Sivakumar Vijayan, who was the DOP of Tamil films like ‘NGK’, ‘Iraivi’ and ‘Irudhi Suttru’. Gopi Sunder handles the music department.
Thanneer Mathan Dhinangal Review: This Thanneer Mathan is full of sweetness
School life and teenage romance is an area that has successfully been explored multiple times. But of late, Malayalam films that come out of this genre grossly missed its innate innocence and simplicity, instead what we were offered is a truckload of adult jokes, forced efforts to evoke nostalgia and a totally uncalled for ‘social message’. Luckily Girish AD’s ‘Thanneer Mathan Dhinangal’ doesn’t belong to this category. As promised, it is a rollicking fun entertainer that hits all the right notes, right from the word go.
Jaison (Mathew Thomas) is our protagonist and the story is basically about the last two years of his school life. He enrolls in a new school for his higher secondary education, meets new friends, has issues with a particular faculty member and one of his juniors, and has an eventful love relationship with a classmate. The teacher-student feud and puppy love are the two major conflicts in the film. By the end of a two hour-long thoroughly entertaining ride, the film offers convincing resolutions to both the conflicts. And we as an audience can leave the cinema hall with a beaming smile while still thinking about the truckload of fun moments that come one after another.
Anything that’s relatable is sure to keep the viewer engaged, and the biggest plus here is that whatever that’s shown in Jaison’s life is instantly relatable to an average Malayali youth. Along with Jaison, a few other characters also have good space and have their own particular traits. Vineeth Sreenivasan’s Ravi Padmanabhan is a well written character with some interesting shades. He sweeps off everyone in the school with his charm and lively nature, but not Jaison. Through the eyes of Jasion, we see the slightly negative and sadistic side of Ravi sir. Vineeth has performed the role very effectively and is easily his among his best performances till date.
Thanneer Mathan Dhinangal Review
Mathew’s Frankie of ‘Kumbalangi Nights’ is totally different from Jaison. While the former is more subdued and carries a lot of pain within himself, Jaison is carefree and cheerful. In his own words, take out the three ‘dhukhangal’, he leads a ‘poli’ life. Mathew Thomas breathes life to the character with a charming performance. Though his expressions while letting out the frustration in the sequences with Ravi sir is repetitive, he scores big time as the desperate lover boy. The range of histrionics he shows when love blossoms during the ‘Jathikka Thottam’ song is absolutely priceless. Mathew is ably supported by Anashwara, who looked gorgeous in the film. Amidst all the madness in the climax, the young girl holds things steady with a praiseworthy performance.
Except for a handful of actors, all other characters in the film are played by newcomers and that lends a certain freshness. Even if they don’t have much screen-time, most of them manage to make an impression. For example, there is a humanities student (played by debutant Naslen) who mouths the best of witty one-liners without an iota of expression on his face. It is his dead face look that amplifies the humour. Joyson, played by Dinoy Paulose, who is also the film’s co-writer, is another very interesting character. The amount of mockery a jobless youngster is subjected to is shown very subtly yet is hilarious.
Thanneer Mathan Dhinangal Review
Director Girish AD is a popular name in the Malayalam short film circuit. His short films ‘Vishuddha Ambrossey’ and ‘Mookuthi’ were well received. With his debut film, Girish has proven that he has the potential to helm a feature film as well. ‘Thaneer Mathan Dhinangal’ is more like an extension to ‘Vishuddha Ambrossey’, which was also had a school life story. The experience gained from that short film must have helped a great deal in handling child actors. Towards the end, when it seemed like things are going off the rail, Girish’s able direction ensures a safe landing.
Justin Varghese’s music is another highlight of the film. All the songs sync perfectly with the situation and the tunes further enhance the fun mood. Just under 135 minutes, the film is neatly edited and hardly has a dull moment to offer.
Overall, ‘Thanneer Mathan Dhinangal’ is a guaranteed fun flick that’s worth every single penny you pay at the theatres. Grab a popcorn, sit back and enjoy this hilarious ride that might take you back to your uniform days.
Kannum Kannum Kollai Adithaal trailer to be released tomorrow
Dulquer Salmaan’s Tamil rom-com film Kannum Kannum Kollai Adithaal (KKKA) is finally gearing up for release. The movie was supposed to hit screens by last year end itself but it got postponed indefinitely. Finally, it seems like all the issues have been resolved. The makers have informed that the movie’s trailer will be out tomorrow (July 28).
KKKA is directed by debutant Desingh Periyasamy. Dulquer Salmaan reportedly plays the role of Sidharth aka Sid, a happy-go-lucky IT professional. Ritu who is well known for her performance in the Telugu film ‘Pelli Choopulu’ is paired with him. From the promos itself, we can make out that the movie is a colourful rom-com.
Noted television host Rakshan, Niranjani Ahathian and ace filmmaker Gautham Vasudev Menon will be seen in prominent roles. KKKA has KM Bhaskar as the cinematographer and Praveen Antony as the editor. Popular music band Masala Cafe is composing the songs. Background score is done by Harsh Vardhan Rameshwar.
The movie is being produced jointly by Anto Joseph Film Company and Viacom 18 Studios.
Malayalam actor Antony Varghese is just two films old but has already shown a lot of promise and enjoys a strong fan following as well. He currently has four projects lined up in Malayalam. If reports are to be believed, Antony is planning into foray into Tamil as well. Big news is that he is in talks for Thalapathy Vijay’s new film.
Vijay’s next after the ongoing Atlee film, ‘Bigil’, will be directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. Buzz is that Antony is being considered to play a negative role in the film. The news is yet to be confirmed, but if it turns out to true, it will be the best possible launch for Antony in Kollywood.
Lokesh’s film with Vijay is said to be a gangster story. The director made his debut in 2017 with the surprise hit ‘Maanagaram’. The movie, which was a brilliantly made hyperlink thriller, emerged both as a critical and commercial success. Since then, Lokesh has been rated as one of the most promising filmmakers in Tamil. His next with Vijay has almost been confirmed and it will be bankrolled by Xavier Britto, who is said to be a relative of the actor.
Antony meanwhile has ‘Jallikkattu’ gearing up for release. He also has ‘Aanaparambile World Cup’ and a film each with Tinu Pappachan and debutant Nithish Sahadev in the pipeline.
As informed earlier by the makers, the second look of Mammootty starrer ‘Mamangam’ has been released today morning. Both fans as well as cinephiles have pinned huge hopes on the movie and that is evident from the reception for the second look in social medias. The M Padmakumar directorial is shaping up as an action packed historical flick. Venu Kunnappilly of Kavya Films is producing the film.

As per the makers, ‘Mamangam’ is a historic film with almost 80% of it being based on true events. It is based on the religious festival, Mamangam, that took place every twelve years in a place called Thirunavaya, on the banks of the Bharathapuzha, for over 280 years. The movie’s original director Sajeev Pillai penned the script after an extensive research of over twelve years. Shankar Ramakrishnan later adapted the screenplay.
‘Mamangam’ has Mammootty playing a ‘chaaver’. Unni Mukundan also plays a prominent character as Chandroth Panicker. Others in the cast include Kaniha, Anu Sithara, Prachi Tehlan, Siddique, Sudev Nair, Tarun Arora, Suresh Krishna, Mani Kuttan, Manikandan, Ineya and Sudheer Sukumaran.
We were among the first to report about Jayaram being signed for Allu Arjun’s new film directed by Trivikram Srinivas. The actor has now joined the sets and started shooting for it. He took to his official social media handle to inform the same to his followers. He was last seen in Telugu in the Anushka Shetty starrer ‘Bhaagamathi’.
In the upcoming film, Jayaram reportedly plays the role of Allu Arjun’s father and he sports an extremely stylish look for the character. Veteran Sathyaraj is said to be essaying the part of Jayaram’s father. Apparently, it is a romantic-family entertainer that focuses on three generations.

Judgementall Hai Kya Review: Kangana steals the show once again!
‘Judgementall Hai Kya’ starring Kangana Ranaut and Rajkummar Rao has hit screens today. The movie directed by Prakash Kovelamudi is a quirky psychological black comedy. It comes with the tagline ‘One Mystery. Two Suspects’. So there’s a murder mystery angle as well.
Kangana plays Bobby Grewal Batliwala, who is a slightly eccentric young woman. She is burdened with unresolved childhood trauman and has constantly been labeled as suffering from acute psychosis. She has certain traits that might look odd but the reasons for the same is well defined. At one point, she develops an obsession with Keshav (Rajkummar Rao), who stays with his wife Reema (Amyra Dastur) in a part of Bobby’s house. Bobby finds Keshav lying to his wife about his smoking and food habits. Suddenly a gory death occurs and Bobby tries hard to prove that it is not an accident and Keshav is a murderer. It is actually a thrilling cat and mouse game in which the two lead characters try to outsmart each other.
Judgementall Hai Kya Review
As always, Kangana has aced her character. As Bobby, she fits the bill perfectly by bringing to fore a totally different style, be it her attitude, looks, or the way she emotes. Kangana has once again proved who she is among the most talented female actors in the country. Rajkummar Rao is a perfect fool, as his is a diametrically opposite character. He is a man of few words and doesn’t let anything out easily. He keeps his cards closely and operates smartly. It is this contrastive nature of the two lead actors’ performances that works as the biggest plus of the movie. Jimmy Sheirgill, Amyra Dastur, Brijendra Kala, Sudev Nair, Satish Kaushik, Mimoh Chakraborty, Rajesh Jais, Hrishitaa Bhatt and Hussain Dalal are also part of the supporting cast.
Shobha Kapoor, Ekta Kapoor and Shaailesh R Singh have jointly produced the movie for Balaji Motion Pictures, Karma Media and Entertainment and ALT Entertainment. It has been distributed in Kerala by Movie Factory.
