Driving Licence: Prithviraj Sukumaran’s next launched

We were among the first to report about Prithviraj teaming up with Jean Paul Lal aka Lal Jr for a movie titled ‘Driving Licence’. The project was launched today with a formal pooja ceremony. Sachy is scripting the movie, which also has Suraj Venjaramoodu in a prominent role. Prithviraj’s own banner Prithviraj Productions is funding the movie jointly with Listin Stephen’s Magic Frames.

Jean Paul Lal has earlier directed the fun flick ‘Honey Bee’, its sequel and an underrated dark thriller in ‘Hi, I’m Tony’. ‘Driving Licence’ is reportedly planned a complete commercial entertainer. The movie has Prithviraj playing the role of a superstar, who is crazy about luxury cars, and Suraj Venjaramoodu in the role of a vehicle inspector. From the outset, the storyline looks very promising and it remains to be seen how it eventually turns out.

Cinematographer Ranadive of ‘CIA’ fame and composer of Sushin Shyam are said to be part of the technical crew.

The official teaser of Tapsee Pannu-Bhumi Padnekar starrer ‘Saand Ki Aankh’ was released just a while back in social medias. The movie is based on the lives of world’s oldest sharpshooters Chandro Tomar (86) and Prakashi Tomar(81). It is directed by Tushar Hiranandani, and produced jointly by Anurag Kashyap and Reliance Entertainment. The movie is slated to hit screens this Diwali.

The makers explain the movie’s back story this way:

Before 1998, Johri village in the interiors of Uttar Pradesh was just like any other village in India. But during this time something extraordinary started, which took this village to national and international levels of success and fame. As a result of which this village had become an inspiring example for the entire country. Coach Dr Rajpal who had been national level player in shooting convinced local government to open the johri rifle club and finally the rifle club was all set to start. The only thing required was to get enough participants from the villages to take the training there. The Tomar family was very renowned in the Johri village. Jai Singh’s wife Chandro Tomar and Bhandwar Singh’s wife Prakashi Tomar had 45 grandchildren in total. In totality, the Tomar family consists of 70 members. The grannies Chandro and Prakashi were the strong pillars of strength for the entire family. Fulfilling all these responsibilities and duties Chandro and Prakshi didn’t even realize when the prime of their life had passed them by. At the age of 50 they picked up a gun for the sake of their daughters in the hopes of encouraging them towards a bright future. They did not want their daughters to share the same fate of a lifetime of suppression. What unfolded was nothing short of miraculous. They discovered their own skill of being exceptional shooters. Despite all the odds, they won 352 medals each in the course of their veteran professional life as a shooter.

Parvathy’s ‘Uyare’ is turning out to be one of the biggest hits of the year as the movie has reached its 75th successful day of theatrical run. Despite a slew of releases, the movie has stood steady and is still being screened in a few multiplexes. The movie directed by Manu Ashokan and scripted by Bobby-Sanjay has Parvathy, Asif Ali and Tovino in major roles.

Ever since its release on April 26, ‘Uyare’ has been getting unanimous words of appreciation. Apart from the critics and commoners, even film personalities and politicians have heaped praised on the makers. ‘Uyare’ tells the inspiring story of an acid attack survivor who fights against all odds to achieve her dream. Earlier in May, the Kerala government had organized a special screening of ‘Uyare’ for children in government homes. It was also selected as the inaugural film at the International Children’s Film Festival of Kerala.

The first look poster of Vineeth Sreenivasan’s new film ‘Thaneermathan Dhinangal’ was released online last evening. The poster features Vineeth along with the other two lead actors, ‘Kumbalangi Nights’ fame Mathew Thomas and Anaswara Rajan of ‘Udhaharanam Sujatha’ fame. The movie is directed by debutant Girish AD, who was one of the scriptwriters of ‘Allu Ramendran’.

From the highly promising trailer, which was released a couple of weeks back, ‘Thaneermathan Dhinangal’ looks like a teeange story set in a school backdrop. Mathew Thomas plays the central character of a school going teeanger and Anaswara will be seen as his romantic interest. Vineeth Sreenivasan essays a crucial role as a teacher, with whom Mathew’s character is in loggerheads.

Director Girish AD has scripted ‘Thaneermathan Dhinangal’ jointly with another debutant, Dinoy Paulose. It is produced jointly by popular cinematographer Jomon T John, editor Shameer Muhammed and Shebin Backer under the banners of Plain J Studios and Shebin Backer Productions. Apart from production, Jomon has also cranked the camera and music in the movie is composed by Justin Varghese of ‘Njandukalude Naatil Oridavela’ fame.

Mohanlal’s Big Brother starts rolling today!

Mohanlal’s new film ‘Big Brother’ with veteran director Siddique has started rolling today with a customary pooja ceremony. Full fledged shoot will be commencing shortly and Mohanlal will be joining once he wraps up his remaining portions for ‘Ittymaani Made In China’.

According to the makers, ‘Big Brother’ is a family entertainer with good dose of action, humour and sentiments. The makers have roped in popular South Indian actress Regina Cassandra to play the female lead. She has been paired opposite Mohanlal in the movie.

Mohanlal, Anoop Menon and ‘June’ fame Sarjano Khalid will be seen as siblings in the movie. Along with Regina, ‘Pichaikkaran’ fame Satna Titus and a newcomer play the other two female leads. Bollywood actor Arbaaz Khan, Vishnu Unnikrishnan, Tini Tom, Siddique, Janardhanan, Chemban Vinod Jose are also part of the cast.

‘Big Brother’ has cinematography handled by Jithu Damodar and music by Deepak Dev. Director Siddique is producing the movie with his friends Shaji and Manu under the banner of S Talkies. The entire shoot has been planned to be wrapped up in a single schedule and the movie will be hitting screens in October.

Dileep-Siddique starrer ‘Shubharathri’ is doing well in theatres. The movie has got positive response from the audience, particularly from the families for its touching story about religious harmony and compassion. Meanwhile, its director Vyasan KP is planning to collaborate with superhit scenarist Udhayakrishna next. They are teaming up for a realistic action flick, which will have two top stars in the lead roles.

As per trustworthy reports, it is a story about a rogue-like father, son duo. The arrival of a new police officer in their locality creates a big impact in their lives. As per the makers, it will be a completely realistic film with several emotional moments. Alby, who cranked the camera in ‘Shubarathri’, has been retained for this film as well. A sequel for Dileep-Joshiy team’s hit film ‘Runway’ has been in the news for a long time now. Dileep had officially announced the project as ‘Walayar Paramasivam’ during the shoot of ‘Welcome to Central Jail’, back in 2016. However, it failed to kick off then due to some unknown reasons. But even after that, the project has been regularly been in the news.

Recently, during the promotion event of his latest release ‘Shubharathri’, Dileep was asked about ‘Walayar Paramasivam’. He confirmed that the long pending film will commence shortly. The second part will supposedly be the spin-off on Dileep’s lead character from ‘Runway’. Let’s hope the project materializes as fans have pinned high expectations on it for a long time.

Dileep is presently shooting for ‘Jack Daniel’, directed by Jayasurya. The actor still has a few portions left to be completed for his ambitious 3D film ‘Professor Dinkan’. ‘Parakkum Pappan’ with Viyan Vishnu and ‘Pickpocket’ with P Balachandra Kumar are his other confirmed projects. Dileep has also committed for films with directors Priyadarshan, Nadirshah and Vineeth Kumar.

Prithviraj’s Ayyappan to go on floors by mid-2020

Last year, it was announced that Prithviraj will be starring in mythological film on lord Ayyappa. The movie titled as ‘Ayyappan’ is written and directed by Shanker Ramakrishnan. August Cinema is producing the movie. Apparently, pre-production works for this epic project is already underway and the makers are planning to start shooting by mid next year.

In a recent interview, Shanker Ramakrishnan revealed that he had been working on its script for over three years. Contrary to popular belief, this movie will be about prince Ayappan’s life and not the diety. Earlier, producer Shaji Nadesan had said, “It will tell the authentic life story of Ayyappan. The deity worshipped in Sabarimala is a form of Shasta; but the movie will focus on his life as a man. Ayyappan was a prince, a warrior and a revolutionary, and the research for the film has mined those stories from Pandalam palace. It will be a different style of interpretation.”

Since it is a big-scale epic film, the makers have planned to release the movie in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada languages. An English version is also on the cards. Since the narrative traverses through different timelines, Prithviraj will be appearing in multiple looks in the movie. Apart from him, the movie is expected to have some leading actors from various other languages.

The censoring of ‘Sathyam Paranja Vishwasikuo’ was completed last day and the movie was given a clean U certificate. It is now all set to hit screens on Friday (July 12). The movie directed by G Prajith has Biju Menon and Samvritha Sunil in the lead roles. It is scripted by National award winner Sajeev Pazhoor, who had earlier penned the widely acclaimed ‘Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum.

Biju Menon plays the role of a mason in the movie, which is said to be a realistic family drama. Samvritha, who is making a comeback after a long gap, essays the role of his wife. The cast also includes Alencier Ley Lopez, Sudhi Koppa, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Saiju Kurup, Srikanth Murali, Bhagath Manuel, Sreelekshmi, Sruthy Jayan and many others.

Cinematographer Shehnad Jalal, veteran editor Ranjan Abraham and music directors Shaan Rahman and Bijibal (background score) form the movie’s core technical crew. Rama Devi of Green TV Entertainer is producing it jointly with Sandip Senan and Anish M Thomas of Urvasi Pictures.
