Anupama Parameswaran turns assistant director for Dulquer Salmaan’s maiden production

Dulquer Salmaan’s maiden film with a bunch of young talents is currently underway. The movie has a bunch of newcomers behind the camera. Debutant Shamsu Zayba is directing the movie and Jacob Gregory is playing the lead role in it. The movie also has three female leads in Anupama Parameswaran, Nikhila Vimal and Anu Sithara.

Anupama, who shot to fame with ‘Premam’, is currently a big star in Telugu film industry. She is making her comeback to Malayalam after a two-year long gap. Interestingly, her last Malayalam film ‘Jomonte Suvisheshangal’ was also with Dulquer Salmaan. In her comeback film, Anupama has also taken up the assistant director’s role.

Last day, the actress took to her social media handle to inform that she will be assisting director Shamsu Zayba. She has written,

Shoot for this yet-to-be titled movie is progressing in Ernakulam. The movie has cinematography by Sajad Kakku and music composed by Sreehari K Nair. More details about the movie are expected to be revealed during the official title launch of Dulquer’s production house.

Jayaram to play a prominent role in Allu Arjun’s next

Jayaram is one mainstream Malayalam actor who has consistently been doing other language films. Though he has mostly been part of Tamil films, he has starred in few Telugu flicks as well. He was last seen in Telugu in the Anushka Shetty starrer ‘Bhaagamathi’, in which he played the villain role. As per latest reports, Jayaram has been cast in the upcoming Allu Arjun film directed by Trivikram Srinivas.

Allu Arjun has previously worked with director Trivikram in ‘S/O Satyamurthy’ and ‘Julai’ (‘Gajapokkiri’ in Malayalam). Both the films were big hits at the box office. So naturally expectations are high for the actor-director duo’s new film. Though nature of Jayaram’s role is not yet known, it is said to be a very prominent one. More details are expected to be officially announced shortly.

Jayaram is currently awaiting the release of ‘My Great Grand Father’, directed by Aneesh Anwar. He also has a couple of other films, ‘Marconi Mathai’ and ‘Pattabhiraman’, in various stages of making.

The official teaser of ‘Thottappan’ has released just a while back in social medias. The movie directed by ‘Kismath’ fame Shanavas K Bavakutty has Vinayakan in the lead. Devadas Kadanjeri and Shailaja Manikandan are producing the movie under the banner of Pattam Cinema Company. The teaser gives vibes of a rustic and realistic flick.

‘Thottappan’ is based on the book of the same name by Francis Noronha. PS Rafeeque has written the screenplay based on Francis Noronha’s story. The movie marks Vinayakan’s debut as a lead actor. He plays a girl child’s godfather (thalathottappan) in the movie. It explores the relationship between a godfather and his goddaughter.

The cast also includes Dileesh Pothan, newcomer Priyamvada Krishnan, Lal, Roshan Mathew, Manoj K Jayan, Reghunath Paleri, Kochu Preman and Pauly Valsan. In the technical crew, Suresh Rajan has cranked and Jithin Manohar is handling the edits. Leela L Girikkuttan is composing the songs and Justin Varghese is in charge of the background score.

Earlier this year, Mohanlal and Prithviraj came together to deliver the biggest blockbuster in Malayalam cinema history, ‘Lucifer’. The Mohanlal starrer which marked the directorial debut of Prithviraj has already crossed the Rs 200 crore mark and is still running in a few centres in Kerala. After teaming up for ‘Lucifer’, the two stars will now have a direct face off at the box office.

Mohanlal’s ‘Ittymaani Made in China’ and Prithviraj’s ‘Brother’s Day’ are set for a big clash this coming Onam in September. Interestingly, both the films are commercial entertainers, the kind of crowd pleasing mass flicks that the majority audience would love to watch during the festive season. It will be interesting to see which of the two emerge the winner at the Onam box office.

Latest to join the club of actors-turned-filmmakers is veteran Jayaram. In a recent interview, he revealed about his plans to turn a filmmaker.

Apparently, Jayaram has been contemplating about this dream of his for a long time. He has made it clear that his directorial debut will not be a complete commercial cinema but a kind a film that the Malayali audience would hold close to their hearts for a long time. He couldn’t reveal details about when he will start working on it as is presently busy with quite a few acting commitments.

Earlier this year, Prithviraj made his directorial debut with ‘Lucifer’, which emerged as a huge blockbuster. Likewise, Kalabhavan Shajon is donning the director’s hat with ‘Brother’s Day’. Superstar Mohanlal has also announced that his maiden venture as a director would go on floors this October and that it will be an ambitious 3D film. Jayam Ravi’s new film ‘Comali’ has grabbed the eye balls with its intriguing posters. The movie directed by debutant Pradeep Ranganathan has Ravi sporting nine different looks. Over the last few days, the makers have released nine different posters, each featuring the actor’s distinct look. In the posters, he is seen as a patient, school going student, king, caveman, British slave and so on.

‘Comali’ directed by debutant Pradeep Ranganathan is said to be a fun satire. The film covers events that happen over a large period of time, from 1990 to 2016, and hence the different looks over different eras. It is a satire that has a strong social content.

The movie has Kajal Agarwal as the female lead. Samyuktha Hegde is also there in a key role. Yogi Babu, KS Ravikumar and RJ Ananthi are also part of the supporting cast. Hiphop Tamizha has composed music for the movie. It is produced by Ishari K Ganesh under the banner of Vels Film International.

Shane Nigam reveals that he was approached for Dangal director Nitesh Tiwari’s next

Shane Nigam is inarguably one of the most promising talents in Malayalam cinema at present. With the success of films like ‘Parava’, ‘Kumbalangi Nights’ and the more recent ‘Ishq’, Shane is slowly establishing himself as a bankable actor. He currently has a handful of promising films in his kitty.

In a recent interview, the youngster revealed that he was offered a role in a Bollywood film. Apparently, Shane was approached for ‘Dangal’ director Nitesh Tiwari’s next. The director is currently helming ‘Chhichhore’, rom-com drama starring Sushant Singh Rajput and Shraddha Kapoor in the leads. The film is said to be a coming of age story about a group of batchmates who get to meet after years for a reunion.

Interestingly, Shane was offered the role of a Malayali student in the film. However, he was forced to opt out as his dates clashed with the shoot of ‘Kumbalangi Nights’. In the interview, Shane added that he doesn’t regret missing out as Nitesh Tiwari had promised him that they will collaborate for another project sometime in the future.

Shane Nigam is currently shooting for ‘Veyil’ directed by debutant Sarath Menon. He has Dimal Dennis’ ‘Valiya Perunnal’ and Shaji N Karun’s ‘Olu’ gearing up to hit screens. Another rom-com with debutant director Jeevan Jojo is also in the making.
