It’s a wrap for Biju Menon-Nimisha starrer Nalpathiyonnu

As we already know, Biju Menon and Nimisha Sajayan are coming together for a new film titled ‘Nalpathiyonnu’. Lal Jose is directing the movie which is scripted by debutant Prageesh PG. Shoot for the movie has got over. Director Lal Jose took to his social media handle to thank all those who supported them in the movie’s making.

The director also recounted the adverse conditions that they had to endure throughout the shoot. Since it is a travel based film, they shoot in several locations like Thalassery, Thrissur, Madikeri and Vagamon. Lal Jose has been going through a rough patch with his last few films failing to impress. ‘Nalpathiyonnu’ looks promising and he will be looking to make for a strong comeback with it.

This is the first time Biju Menon and Nimisha are coming together for a film, so it will be interesting to see them share screen space. The movie also has Suresh Krishna and Indrans in major roles. Few theatre artists and newcomers will also be seen essaying prominent roles in the movie.In the technical side, S Kumar has cranked the camera and editing is being done by Ranjan Abraham. Bijibal handles the music department.

Lucifer crosses Rs 200 crore mark, claim makers!

Mohanlal starrer ‘Lucifer’, which hit screens worldwide on March 28, has reached the 50th day of its glorious theaterical run. The movie has smashed multiple box office record and is now the highest grossing Malayalam movie ever. Along with the 50th day special poster, the makers have claimed that the movie has crossed the Rs 200 crore mark.

We suppose the movie has registered an overall business of Rs 200 crores, which includes earnings from box office and other rights. If it is true, then ‘Lucifer’ is the first Malayalam film to have done that. Mohanlal is once again stamping his authority at the box office and proving why he is the biggest crowd puller of the industry.

‘Lucifer’, directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran and scripted by Muriali Gopy, is a mass entertainer set in the backdrop of Kerala politics. Mohanlal plays the lead role in the movie, that also stars Vivek Oberoi, Tovino Thomas, Indrajith Sukumaran, Manju Warrier, Sai Kumar and Saniya Iyappan in key roles. It is produced by Mohanlal’s own banner Aashirvad Cinemas. The movie is now available on digital streaming platform Amazon Prime in Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu languages.

Unda teaser to be launched by Mohanlal and Mammootty

Mammootty’s eagerly awaited film ‘Unda’ is gearing up for Eid release. The movie is directed by ‘Anuraga Karikkin Vellam’ fame Khalidh Rahman. The makers have already informed that the movie’s teaser will be out today (May 16, Thursday) at 7 PM. The two Big Ms of Malayalam – Mohanlal and Mammootty will be launching the teaser together through their respective social media handles.

‘Unda’ is said to be an action-comedy thriller in which Mammootty plays the role of a police sub-inspector named Manikandan CP. He heads an eight-member team of police constables. The movie’s story revolves around the events that occur when this unit of policemen from Kerala reach the Maosit areas in Chhattisgarh for election duty.

‘Unda’ is a highly promising film as it has a very interesting storyline and solid team. Director Khalid Rahman has penned the story and screenplay is written by Harshad. Sajith Purushan has cranked the camera and music is handled by Prashanth Pillai. Sham Kaushal has choreographed the stunts.

Krishnan Sethukumarr is producing the film under the banner of Movie Mill in association with Gemini Studios.

As we already know, Prithviraj is starring in Brother’s Day, the directorial debut of actor Kalabhavan Shajohn. The movie’s shoot is currently underway and it is shaping up as full-on commercial mass entertainer. As informed by the makers, the movie’s first look poster was released online last evening.

Brother’s Day promises to be a refreshing change from the experimental films that Prithviraj has been doing a lot of late. In the first look, the actor is seen sporting a bearded look. Aishwarya Lekshmi, Prayaga Rose Martin and Madonna Sebastian and Miya George are playing the female leads in the movie. Among them, only Miya has acted with Prithviraj previously. The two have earlier shared screen space in ‘Memories’, ‘Anarkali’ and ‘Paavada’.

‘Brother’s Day’ has cinematography by Jithu Damodar, songs composed by the multi-talented Nadirshah and background score done by 4 Musics of ‘Oppam’ fame. Listin Stephen is producing the movie under the banner of Magic Frames.

Thalapathy 64: Vijay to team up with this highly promising young filmmaker

For the last few months, there have been several reports about Vijay’s next after the ongoing film with Atlee. While speculations are rife, the actor recently met a few filmmakers and discussed their subjects. It is said that the actor was highly impressed by a storyline pitched by director Lokesh Kanagaraj. If things turn out as per plans, Vijay’s next will be held by Lokesh and it will start rolling by the end of this year.

The youngster made his debut in 2017 with the surprise hit ‘Maanagaram’. The movie, which was a brilliantly made thriller, had Sundeep Kishan, Regina Cassanadra and Sri in the lead roles. It emerged as a critical and commercial success. Lokesh is rated as one of the most promising new gen filmmakers in Tamil at present. It will be interesting to what he has in store for a big star like Vijay. Earlier, he had also planned an action packed entertainer with Suriya but the project didn’t masterialize.

Meanwhile, shoot for Vijay-Atlee duo’s film is currently progressing at a brisk pace. As we already know, it is a sports based flick centred around woman’s football. Vijay plays a player-turned-coach in the movie. Nayanthara is paired with him. Jackie Shroff, Kathir, Induja, Varsha Bollamma, Reba Monica John, Yogi Babu, Vivek, Daniel Balaji, Anand Raj and many others are part of the supporting cast.
AGS Entertainment is producing the movie, which is scheduled for a grand Diwali release in October.

Thrissur Pooram will have Jayasurya in a mass avatar

Last day, it was announced that Jayasurya and Vijay Babu’s Friday Film House are coming together for a new movie titled ‘Thrissur Pooram’. Rajesh Mohanan, who was previously known as Rajesh Nair, is directing the movie. He has earlier helmed films like ‘Escape From Uganda’, ‘Salt Mango Tree’ and ‘Kalyanam’.

‘Thrissur Pooram’ is an action flick that will have Jayasurya in a mass avatar. He plays a character named Round Jayan in the movie. Composer Ratheesh Vega is making his debut as a scenarist with this movie. He is also handling the music department. Cinematography is by Prakash Velayudhan and edits will be handled by Deepu Joseph.

As per the makers, the film is set in the backdrop of Thrissur Pooram and is divided into several chapters each signifying the various stages of the festival. It is worth a mention that director Sajid Yahiya of ‘IDI’ fame had planned to a similar film with Jayasurya but it didn’t materialize then. We are not sure if it’s the same project that has been revived now. The makers have planned to start shooting shortly and release it in October.

Jayasurya is currently shooting for ‘Lilli’ fame Prasobh Vijayan’s new film, which is yet to be titled. The actor also has ‘Vellam’ with ‘Captain’ director Prajesh Sen coming up.

Santosh Sivan’s Jack and Jill is a sci-fi film

As we already know, Santosh Sivan is making his comeback as a filmmaker to Malayalam after a long gap with ‘Jack and Jill’. The movie has Kalidas Jayaram and Manju Warrier in the lead roles. Shoot for the movie commenced last October and Manju has already wrapped up her portions. So far, the makers have been tight-lipped about the genre but we now hear that it’s a quirky sci-fi flick.

It is a genre that has not much been explored in Malayalam. With someone like Santosh Sivan at helm, the audience can expect to see some real quality stuff. Apart fron Kalidas and Manju Warrier, the movie’s cast also includes Nedumudi Venu, Aju Varghese, Soubin Shahir, Basil Joseph, Ramesh Pisharody and Suraj Venjaramoodu.

A Dubai based company, Lensman Studios, is producing the movie. Its technical crew includes debutant music director Ram Surendar, lyricist BK Harinarayanan and production controller Alex.

As ‘Oru Yamandan Premakadha’ (OYP) continues to do well, the makers have released a new song in social medias. The track titled ‘Kothiyoorum Baalyam’ comes at the very beginning of the movie. Vineeth Sreenivasan and Rimi Tomy have crooned the track. It is set to tunes by Nadirshah and lyrics is penned by BK Harinarayanan.

‘Oru Yamandan Premakadha’ has already been declared a hit at the box office. Commone audience, especially families, have lapped up the movie and that has reflected in the box office figures. The movie is directed by debutant BC Naufal and scripted by Bibin George-Vishnu Unnikrishnan duo. As promised by the makers, it turned out to be a full-on fun filled entertainer that audience of all ages groups can enjoy.

Dulquer Salmaan’s charming perfomance is one of the major highlights of the film. Nikhila Vimal and Samyuktha Menon are the two heroines. And the presence of comedy actors like Salim Kumar, Soubin Shahir, Vishnu Unnikrishnan, Hareesh Kanaran, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Kottayam Pradeep and Baiju Santhosh have done wonders for the movie as it has plenty of fun moments.

‘Oronnonnara Pranayakadha’, a romantic flick starring Shebin Benson and ‘Irupathiyonnam Noottandu’ fame Zaya David is gearing up for release this Friday (May 17). The movie is scripted and directed by Shibu Balan. The makers had recently released a couple of songs in social medias. The songs have all got great response from the viewers.

‘Oronnonnara Pranayakadha’ is a coming of age story that traces the relationship between the lead pair from their school days to later years in college. It shows the different stages of a romance budding from childhood to adulthood. Vinay Forrt, Sudheer Karamana, Alencier Ley Lopez, Mamukoya, Surabhi Lekshmi and Vinod Kovoor are part of the movie’s supporting cast.

In the technical front, Sameer Haq has cranked the camera and edits are by Ranjan Abraham. ‘Pretham’ fame Anand Madhusoodanan and Leela K Girish Kuttan have composed the songs. Famous playback singers like Karthik, Vineeth Sreenivasan, Chinmayi Sripada and Haricharan have lent their voices for the movie.

MM Haneefa and Nidhin Udayan are jointly producing the movie under the banner of Golden Globe.
