Mammootty-Nadirshah film I’m a Disco Dancer is a comedy thriller
It has been a while since reports about Mammootty teaming up Nadirshah with started emerging. Initially, they had plans to make a comedy film in which Mammootty was supposed to play a dwarf. Benny P Nayarambalam was the scriptwriter, but the project got dropped in the early stages itself. Mammootty and Nadirshah are now set to reunite for another comedy thriller titled, ‘I’m a Disco Dancer’.
Nadirshah himself confirmed this in a recent interview. He is currently awaiting the release of ‘Mera Naam Shaji’, which is scheduled for release on April 5. The movie starring Asif Ali, Biju Menon and Baiju in the leads is expected to be a typical Nadirshay style entertainer. He has also committed for a film with his close friend and business partner Dileep. The movie titled ‘Keshu Ee Veedinte Naathan’ is scripted by Sajeev Pazhoor of ‘Thondimuthalum Driksashiyum’ fame.
Mammootty meanwhile has resumed shooting for ‘Maamaankam’. His next release will be ‘Madura Raja’, slated for Vishu. ‘Unda’ shoot was recently wrapped up and it’s currently in the post-production phase. ‘Ameer’ and ‘Ganagandharvan’ are his other upcoming films.

The much awaited teaser of Dulquer Salmaan’s ‘Oru Yamandan Premakadha’ (OYP) has been released in social medias. The teaser gives hints of a fun filled mass entertainer. Dulquer is making his return to Malayalam after over a year and so naturally expectations are high for the movie.
‘Oru Yamandan Premakadha’ is directed by debutant BC Noufal and scripted by the superhit writer duo of Bibin George and Vishnu Unnikrishnan. ‘OYP’ is expected to be similar to the writer duo’s previous films, ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’ and ‘Kattappanayile Rithwik Roshan’. It is touted to be a full-on commercial mass entertainer.
Nikhila Vimal and ‘Theevandi’ fame Samyuktha Menon play the two female leads. Arun Kurian, Hareesh Kanaran, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Salim Kumar, Soubin Shahir, Vishnu Unnikrishnan and Bibin George are also part of the movie’s supporting cast. Nadirshah is composing the songs.

Kunungi Kunungi: Here’s a new song from Mera Naam Shaji
As informed earlier by the makers, a new song from ‘Mera Naam Shaji’ has been released today in social medias. The movie was recently censored with a clean U certificate and is confirmed to hit screens on April 5. It will officially the kick-start the race for the Vishu box office. Mammootty’s ‘Madura Raja’ and Fahadh Faasil’s ‘Athiran’ are the other two biggies that are also scheduled for Vishu.
‘Mera Naam Shaji’ has Asif Ali, Biju Menon and Baiju Santhosh in the leads. The movie is expected to be an outright fun-filled mass entertainer like Nadirshah’s previous films ‘Amar Akbar Antony’ and ‘Kattappanayile Rithwik Roshan’. The teaser and songs released so far have also hinted at the same.
It is a story about three men named Shaji, who are from different parts of Kerala, meeting accidentally at a point. While Baiju’s character Shaji Sukumaran is from Trivandrum, Asif Ali’s Shaji George is from Ernakulam. Biju Menon’s character is from Kozhikode. Nikhila Vimal plays the female lead.
Dileep Ponnan and Shani Khader have penned the story. The former has also written the screenplay and dialogues. B Rakesh is producing the movie under the banner of Universal Cinema.
Lucifer is one of the best mass movies made in Malayalam: Priyadarshan
Mohanlal’s ‘Lucifer’ continues to get good response. The movie which marks the directorial debut of Prithviraj Sukumaran has largely got good reviews from the common audience. Though critics have pointed out a few flaws, fans and general audience have lapped up the movie. It is an unabashed mass entertainer that celebrates the superstar that Mohanlal is.
Ace filmmaker Priyadarshan has written that Lucifer is among the best mass movies in Malayalam. He also congratulated the team behind the movie. His Facebook post reads,

Lucifer has taken a phenomenal opening at the box office and is certain to continue this good run in the coming weeks as well. Vivek Oberoi, Tovino Thomas, Sai Kumar and Manju Warrier are part of the cast. Prithviraj also appears in a cameo role. Going by the initial response, there are high chances for the movie emerging as one of the highest grossers in Malayalam.

Super Deluxe Review: An eccentric yet mind-blowing film
It’s always said that a director’s second film is more important than his maiden film and that’s where he/she has to prove their caliber. Eight years after he made his stunning debut film ‘Aaranya Kaandam’, for which he also won the National award, director Thiagarajan Kumararaja is back. And how?
‘Super Deluxe’ is a film that rides high on a plenty of crazy ideas and strange thoughts that’s seamlessly woven in four contrasting stories. Someone who ran away from home is returning back after seven years, but this time in a new avatar that the family finds hard to accept. Then there’s a bunch of sex driven teenagers who keep landing in trouble one after another. A newly married not-so-happy couple are in the midst of something drastic that needs a smart solution or else they are finished. And a priest who has wrong understanding of God and his ways.
Films based on chaos theory are not new but what makes ‘Super Deluxe’ unique and stand out is the way it’s designed. There’s no real pattern and hence it’s impossible to predict where the narrative is heading next. But there is a purpose for everything, right from the character names, to the props, to the songs played in the background and even the ants and centipede.

In a three-hour-long film, Kumararaja has included so many of his politics and outrightly questions our moral values. The black humour is as brilliant as the social commentary, which covers a wide range of topics from life, science, relationships, system and faith. We are asked some thought-provoking questions. What’s right and wrong? Who defines it? Why God? What’s sex? Do we have a choice?
‘Super Deluxe’ has a star studded cast, and it’s Vijay Sethupathi who walks away with all the laurels. Manikyam/Shilpa has to be one of the most daring characters a mainstream stream star has ever done in Indian cinema. Playing a transsexual is one thing and presenting it so convincing and real is another. He is an actor who has often been pointed out for his peculiar style of acting. There has always been a certain amount of repetitiveness in his performances but thankfully in a delightful way. And the actor himself has admitted this. But come here, Sethupathi has simply outdone himself. You just cannot take eyes off Shilpa, because such is the grace he brings. A truly jaw dropping performance.
The other actors- Fahadh Faasil, Ramya Krishnan, Samantha, the teenagers, the cute kid Rasukutty, Gayathri, Bhagavathy Perumal were all exceptionally good. All of them have their moments of brilliance in the movie. Bhagavathy Perumal as the corrupt police officer sends chills down the spine with his creepy smile and gestures. A slight flaw I found was with the exaggerated and loud performance of Mysskin. Some of his portions also dragged a bit. But his character Dhanasekar aka Arputham has a proper definition and his moment of realization is wonderfully staged.

Composer Yuvan Shankar Raja has kept his work minimal by aptly placing songs from yesteryear films in the background. Cinematography by Nirav Shah and PS Vinod is striking and the wide range of colours used does signify the various moods. Another department that needs words of appreciation is the sound design. The atmosphere they have managed to create is captivating.
‘Super Deluxe’ is a film that’s hard to be confined to one particular genre. Not hard, it’s impossible. Like a man high on coke, this film keeps moving frantically and ultimately gives us a cinematic high like never before.
Kadavule Pole song from Lucifer to be out tomorrow

Meanwhile, the makers will be releasing the ‘Kadavule Pole’ song tomorrow. This adrenaline pumping song comes in the background of a riveting action block. It is one of the movie’s best moments and it’s a great call by the makers to release the song now. Deepak Dev has composed the song.

We hear that the first look poster will be out by April first week and teaser alongside Madura Raja, which is scheduled to hit screens for Vishu. So it will be a double treat for Mammootty fans as ‘Unda’ is a movie that is eagerly awaited.
The movie directed by Khalid Rahman of ‘Anuraga Karikkin Vellam’ fame is touted to be a comedy action thriller. It has Mammootty in the role of sub-Inspector Mani. The movie traces the events that occur when an unit of policemen from Kerala reach the Naxalite prone areas in North India on election duty. The team had shot in forests in Wayanad, Mysore and Chhattisgarh.
Vinay Forrt, Shine Tom Chacko, Jacob Gregory, Arjun Ashokan, Rony David and Lukman will be seen as policemen in the movie. Bollywood actors Omkar Das Manikpuri, Bhagwan Tiwari, Chien Ho Liao are also part of the supporting cast. The movie is expected to hit screens by the second half of this year.
Today (March 30) marks the 30th anniversary of release of the all-time classic film, ‘Spadikam’. The movie directed by Bhadran had Mohanlal in one of his most iconic characters, Aadu Thoma. His twirled mustache, Ray Ban sunglasses, the fierce dialogues and the ‘mund oori adi’ have always had a special place in the heart of an average Malayali movie lover.
After three decades of its release spiritual sequel for the movie is now being made. The teaser of ‘Spadikam 2: Irumpan’ got released today in social medias. Bijju J Kattackan is directing the movie, shoot for which is progressing. The makers of the original film have strongly opposed to the sequel but Bijju has made it clear that he will be going ahead with his film.
Reportedly, the sequel tells the story of Aadu Thoma’s son, Irumpan. Bollywood actress Sunny Leone is said to be part of the movie but an official confirmation regarding the same is still awaited.

Dhyan Sreenivasan starrer ‘Sachin’ is getting ready for release. As informed earlier, the movie’s official trailer was released by actor Dileep through his social media handle. Santhosh Nair of ‘Money Ratnam’ is directing this movie. It is scripted by SL Puram Jayasurya, who has previously directed movies like ‘Angel John’ and ‘Speed Track’.
Sachin is a romantic-comedy entertainer that has cricket as the backdrop. Anna Reshma Rajan of ‘Angamaly Diaries’ fame plays the female lead.
