Confirmed: Jeethu Joseph’s next with Karthi to start rolling in April

Post ‘Drishyam’, director Jeethu Joseph has been trying to expand his wings to other industries as well. He made his Tamil debut in 2015 with the Kamal Haasan starrer ‘Papanasam’, which was a remake of ‘Drishyam’. Last year, the director made his Bollywood debut with a thriller starring Emraan Hashmi and Rishi Kapoor. The movie is currently in the post-production stage and is expected to release by the second half of the year.

Jeethu Joseph is now set to make his second film in Tamil. Karthi has been signed as the lead for the movie, which is set to go on floors from April. At present, the director is working on the script with Rensil D’Silva and Manikandan. An official announcement with details regarding the full cast and crew will be made shortly.

Meanwhile, Jeethu Joseph’s new film, ‘Mr and Mrs Rowdy’ starring Kalidas Jayaram and Aparna Balamurali is getting ready for release. The movie touted to be a comedy drama is scheduled to hit screens on February 22 (Friday).

The pooja function of director Arun Kumar Aravind’s new movie ‘Underworld’ was held today. Asif Ali plays the lead role in the movie which also has Farhaan Faasil and Jean Paul Lal aka Lal Jr in major roles. Samyuktha Menon of ‘Theevandi’ fame and Ketaki Narayan have been signed as the female leads. D14 Entertainments is producing the movie.

As per trustworthy reports, ‘Underworld’ is an action packed revenge thriller. Asif had recently said that he will be working on building his physique for the movie. This is probably the first time that the actor is trying a physical transformation. He will be following a strict diet and fitness regime till the end of the movie’s shoot.

‘Underworld’ is scripted by Shibin Francis, who had earlier penned films like ‘Comrade In America’ (CIA) and ‘Paavada’.
The movie’s technical crew includes cinematographer Alex J Pulickal and composer duo Yakzan Gary Pereira-Neha Nair. Director Arun Kumar himself will be handling the edits. Shoot is expected to commence shortly.

Thala 60: After ‘Pink’ remake, Ajith to team up with ‘Mankatha’ director Venkat Prabhu?

Thala Ajith is currently in Hyderabad shooting for his new movie directed by H Vinoth of ‘Theeran’ fame. The movie, tentatively titled Thala 59 aka AK 59, is the official remake of acclaimed Hindi film, ‘Pink’. Bollywood producer Boney Kapoor, husband of late actress Sridevi, is entering K-Town by producing this movie. As reported by us earlier, Boney Kapoor has signed a two film deal with Ajith. After the ‘Pink’ remake, it was said that Vinoth himself will be directing Ajith’s next film as well, for Boney Kapoor’s banner.

However, latest reports suggest that Venkat Prabhu is the front runner to helm the film (Thala 60). The actor-director duo had earlier collaborated for ‘Mankatha’, which emerged as one of the biggest hits in the star’s career. Though there are speculations in social medias about a possible sequel to the movie, Kollywood medias report that Venkat Prabhu is working on a fresh subject.

The director’s next film is ‘Maaanadu’, a political thriller starring Simbu in the lead. Shoot for the movie is expected to commence shortly.

Kodathi Samaksham Balan Vakeel all set for release tomorrow amidst high expectations

Dileep starrer Kodathi Samaksham Balan Vakeel is hitting screens tomorrow (February 21). The movie has high expectations amidst audience as its Dileep first release after nearly ten months. Written and directed by B Unnikrishnan, the movie has Dileep playing an advocate. Mamta Mohandas and Priya Anand play the female leads. Others in the cast include Suraj Venjaramoodu, Aju Varghese, ‘Kalakeya’ Prabhakar, Bindu Panicker and Siddique.

Expectations are on the higher side for the movie as it is said to be a different film from the kind of comedy entertainers that Dileep is known for. The movie has him playing the role of a struggling lawyer who has a stuttering problem. It is said to be a very challenging role and fans are excited to see the star’s performance.

The pre-release promos have all been impressive with positive response to the trailer and the recently released songs. The movie has four songs in total, two each by composers Gopi Sunder and Rahul Raj. Viacom 18 Motion Pictures is making their entry to Malayalam industry by producing this movie.

We had recently reported about Sivakarthikeyan signing a new film with director PS Mithran of ‘Irumbuthirai’ fame. RD Raja of 24 AM Studios is producing the movie. As per latest reports, the makers have signed as the female lead. The pretty actress, who has already made a mark in Telugu industry, will be making her Tamil debut with this film. Reportedly, she has signed another Tamil film named ‘Vaan’, in which she will be playing one of the three female leads alongside Dulquer Salmaan.

Sivakarthikeyan’s film with Mithran also has veteran actor Arjun Sarja playing a prominent role. According to the director, the film will be a thriller, on the lines of his debut work ‘Irumbuthirai’, with a very relevant social message in it. George C Willaims will be cranking the camera and Ruben will be handling the edits. Yuvan Shankar Raja has been signed as the music director. The movie is expected to start rolling by the second half of the year.

‘Varma’, the Tamil remake of ‘Arjun Reddy’, directed by Bala and starring Dhruv Virkam was recently scrapped by producers E4 Entertainment as they were disappointed with the final output. The makers had informed that they will be reshooting the whole film with Dhruv as the lead but with a new director and supporting cast. The new version has been titled as ‘Adithya Varma’ and its first look was released online last day.

While speculations were rife about Gautham Menon directing the film, the makers have signed Gireesaaya who helm the film. The latter is an erstwhile associate of Sandeep Vanga who had directed the original, ‘Arjun Reddy’. Bollywood actress Banita Sandhu of ‘October’ fame has been signed as the female lead. Priya Anand will be reprising the role played by Jia Sharma in the original.

Last day, the second schedule of Mammootty starrer Unda commenced in Wayanad. The movie directed by ‘Anuraga Karikkin Vellam’ (AKV) fame Khalid Rahman is an action-comedy entertainer. The second schedule kick-started on a joyous note as actor Jacob Gregory celebrated his birthday on sets. A small cake cutting was held with all the cast and crew members wishing Gregory.

Unda has Mammootty playing the role of a police sub-Inspector. The movie traces the events that occur when an unit of policemen from Kerala reach the Naxalite prone areas in North India on election duty. Vinay Forrt, Shine Tom Chacko, Jacob Gregory, Sudhi Koppa, Arjun Ashokan and Lukman play policemen in the movie.

After wrapping up the ongoing schedule in Wayanad, the team will be shifting to Chhattisgarh for a few patch up works. We hear that around 20 days of shoot is still left for the movie. The technical crew of ‘Unda’ comprises of cinematographer Gavemic U Ary, music director Prashanth Pillai and action choreographer Sham Kaushal.

Krishnan Sethukumar of Movie Mill is presenting the movie in association with Gemini Studio. The movie is expected to hit screens by the second half of the year.

Mammootty pays tribute to CRPF jawan Vasantha Kumar killed in Pulwama terror attack

The recent terror attack in the Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir has sent shock waves across India. Citizens from all walks of the society have come together in condemning the cowardly attack and seeking justice for the 40 CRPF personnel who lost their lives. Among the slain jawans was VV Vasantha Kumar, who hails from Wayanad in Kerala.

Malayalam actor Mammootty, who reached Wayanad today as part of shoot of his new movie ‘Unda’, visited the jawan’s home at Lakkidi and paid his respects. The actor also spent time with Vasantha Kumar’s family members and consoled them. He was accompanied by actor Abu Salim and Bijo Alexander, the deputy superintendent of Special Branch, Wayand.

Vasantha Kumar’s funeral was held last Saturday with military military and State honours on the premises of his ancestral house at Mukkamkunnu, near Thrikkaipetta. He is survived by wife Sheena, daughter Anamika, and son Amardeep.
