Mamta Mohandas to team up with Joju George after Manju Warrier opts out

We had recently reported about veteran filmmaker Joshiy planning to do a movie with Joju George and Manju Warrier in the lead roles. As per latest reports, Manju has opted out of the movie forcing the makers to sign Mamta Mohandas as her replacement. The reason for Manju’s exit is still not known. Nevertheless, the team is planning to ho ahead with the shoot, which is expected to commence shortly.

Joshiy is one of the most revered filmmakers in Malayalam industry. During the late 80s and 90s, the director was instrumental in shaping up the careers of several stars, including the big Ms. However, in the last decade, he has not been in the best of form. The veteran is eyeing to make a comeback with this yet-to-be titled film starring Joju George in the lead. Along with Joju, the movie will also have Chemban Vinod Jose in a major role.

Leading celebrities come together to release the teaser of Moothon

Moothon is one of the most anticipated movies in Malayalam this year. The movie directed by actress-turned-filmmaker Geetu Mohandas has Nivin Pauly in the lead. The much-awaited teaser of the movie will be released tomorrow in social medias. Anurag Kashyap, Karan Johar, Prithviraj, Suriya and Nivin will be sharing the teaser through their respective social media handles. This is perhaps the first time that so many leading celebs from across industries are coming together for the teaser release of a Malayalam movie.

Moothon has huge expectations among the cinpehiles as it has some of the leading technicians in Indian cinema associated with it. It is an ambitious big-scale film made as a bilingual in Malayalam and Hindi. The movie’s story penned by Geetu Mohandas had won the global filmmaking award in Sundance film festival. Ace Bollywood filmmaker Anurag Kashyap collaborated with Geetu in writing the movie’s Hindi dialogues. The director’s husband Rajeev Ravi, also an acclaimed filmmaker, is the DOP and National award winner Ajithkumar is editing the movie. Govind Vasantha is handling the music department.

Moothon is produced jointly by Bollywood filmmaker Anand L Rai’s production house Colour Yellow Productions and Jar Pictures. Eros International will be presenting the movie.

Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi’s 151st film ‘Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy’ is a hugely anticipated film. It is a highly ambitious project in terms of production values and cast. The movie directed by Surender Reddy is a period flick based on late freedom fighter Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy. Chiranjeevi, Amitabh Bachchan, Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Jagapathi Babu, Tamannaah and Kichcha Sudeep form the movie’s stellar star cast.

As Vijay Sethupathi is celebrating his birthday today, his character intro poster has been revealed in social medias. The actor plays the role of Raaja Paandi in the movie. He is said to be playing a crucial cameo role. ‘Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy’ is being made as a biopic on Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy who fought the British valiantly much before the Sepoy Mutiny. He was eventually hanged to death by the British government.

The movie’s story is by the noted writer duo Paruchuri Brothers, and Sai Madhav Burra has written the dialogues. Director Surendar Reddy has penned the screenplay. The movie is produced by Chiranjeevi’s son, actor Ram Charan under the banner of Konidela Production Company. The makers are investing a whopping budget of over Rs 150 crores for the movie, which is being made as multi-lingual in four languages – Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam.

Parvathy to star in National award winner Sidhartha Siva’s next

Parvathy has been getting very few offers post the Kasaba issue and the actress herself has been quite vocal about it. She is currently part of two films – Manu Ashokan’s ‘Uyare’ and Aashiq Abu’s ‘Virus’. As per latest reports, Parvathy has signed for a new film with National award winner Sidhartha Siva. Though more details about the project is not yet known, reports suggest that shoot will be commencing very shortly. An official confirmation in this regard is awaited.

Sidhartha Siva is well known for helming films like ‘101 Chodyangal’, ‘Ain’, ‘Sakhavu’ and ‘Kochavva Paulo Ayyappa Coelho’. His debut film ‘101 Chodyangal’ had won him the National Film Award for Best Debut film of a Director in 2012. Two years later, his film ‘Ain’ won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Malayalam. When he teams up with an extremely talented actor like Parvathy, it is most likely to be a quality film.

Parvathy is presently shooting simultaneously for ‘Uyare’ and ‘Virus’. The former has her playing an acid attack victim. Asif Ali and Tovino Thomas are also part of the cast. Details about her character in ‘Virus’, which is based on the Nipah outbreak, is not yet known. The movie has her starring alongside Revathy, Tovino, Asif Ali, Rima Kallingal, Soubin Shahir, Dileesh Pothan, Chemban Vinod Jose, Sreenath Bhasi and Remya Nambeeshan.

As the release date is closing in, the makers of ‘Irupathiyonnaam Noottaandu’ have released the first video song. The sing was released through Mohanlal’s and Pranav’s official Facebook page. It is a romantic song featuring the lead pair, Pranav and debutante Zaira. Written and directed by Arun Gopy, the movie is touted to be an action-packed adventure thriller.

‘Irupathiyonnaam Noottaandu’ is one of the most anticipated films in the first quarter of the year. The movie is gearing up to hit screens this month-end during the Republic Day weekend. It is being produced by Tomichan Mulakupadam under his banner Mulakupadam Films.

‘Irupathiyonnaam Noottaandu’ cast include Siddique, Innocent, Abhirav, G Suresh Kumar, Manoj K Jayan, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Bijukuttan, Tini Tom and Kannada actor Harish Raj. Gokul Suresh will also be appearing in a cameo role. The movie’s core technical crew comprises of cinematographer Abhinandan Ramanujam, music director Gopi Sunder Sunder, stunt choreographer Peter Hein and editor Vivek Harshan.

VK Prakash to helm web series based on Ruskin Bond’s stories!

Ruskin Bond is one of the most famous English writers among the Indian readers. His stories are some of the most beloved in all of Indian literature in English. Four of his ghost stories – The Ghost In The Garden, The Wind On Haunted Hill, Wilson’s Bridge and The Overcoat are now adapted made into a web series. VK Prakash and Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury will be directing the series, which will be streamed in the OTT content platform ZEE5.

VK Prakash is well known for exploring new facets in filmmaking. With this series based on Ruskin Bond’s stories, he is probably the first established Malayali filmmaker to enter the web series arena. The director has a penchant for trying new technologies in his films – be it the slow motion camera in ‘Police’ or the drone cameras in ‘Trivandrum Lodge’. With his vast experience in the ad film industry, the director has always been on the front to introduce innovative ideas in filmmaking.

His upcoming film ‘Pranaa’, starring Nithya Menen is another very interesting film. The movie is a psychological thriller with only one character in the entire movie. Nithya plays the sole character of an English writer. It is made as a multilingual in Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi. Academy award winner Resul Pookutty has introduced the system of live surround sync format, which has hitherto been used in Indian cinema. The movie is scheduled for release on January 18

After a solid opening weekend, ‘Vijay Superum Pournamiyum’ (VSP) is having good occupancy in the weekdays as well. Releasing last Friday, the movie opened to highly positive reviews from all corners. Critics and common audience alike have rated the movie as a clean feel-good entertainer. Families have taken a particular liking for the movie which is evident from the footfalls in theatres.

‘Vijay Superum Pournamiyum’ directed by Jis Joy has Asif Ali and Aishwarya Lekshmi in the leads. While Asif plays an engineering drop out, Aishwarya essays the role of a MBA graduate in the movie. Jis Joy has scripted the movie with prominence to humour, friendship, romance and family sentiments. It discusses about how two individuals, coming from different backgrounds, struggle to make an identity of their own.

Just like the superhit ‘Sunday Holiday’, Jis Joy’s last film with Asif Ali, the feel-good factor is expected to do wonders for ‘Vijay Superum Pournamiyum’ as well. The movie is most likely to have a long run with the help of family audience. Along with the lead pair, the movie has an elaborate supporting cast comprising of Shanthi Krishna, Renji Panicker, Devan, Siddique, KPAC Lalitha, Balu Varghese, Dhanya Rajendran and Joseph Annamkutty Jose.

Kumbalangi Nights release date announced

Kumbalangi Nights is one movie almost all Malayali cinephiles are eagerly looking forward to. Putting an end to the long wait, the makers have announced that the movie will be hitting screens on February 7. Directed by debutant Madhu C Narayanan, the movie stars Shane Nigam, Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi, newcomer Mathew Thomas and Fahadh Faasil in major roles. National award winner Syam Pushkaran has scripted the movie.

Expectations are high for ‘Kumbalangi Nights’ considering the reunion of the trio of Fahadh Faasil, Dileesh Pothan and Syam Pushkaran. The combo’s last two outings – ‘Maheshinte Prathikaram’ and ‘Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum’ were National award winning films. While their roles were different in the earlier two films, ‘Kumbalangi Nights’ has them as producers.

Syam Pushkaran along with Dileesh Pothan have launched a new production house named Working Class Hero and ‘Kumbalangi Nights’ is their maiden venture. They are producing it jointly with Fahadh Faasil’s banner Fahadh Faasil and Friends. The movie, according to the makers, is a modern family drama set in Kumbalangi, a suburb in the city of Kochi.

Soubin, Shane Nigam, Sreenath Bhasi and Mathew Thomas play brothers in the movie while Fahadh Faasil will be seen as the villain. The movie has camera handled by Shyju Khalid, music by Sushin Shyam and edits by Saiju Sreedharan.

Raghava Lawrence’s Muni aka Kanchana franchise enjoys great popularity among the Tamil masses. Made on a horror comedy template, all the films – Muni, Kanchana (Muni 2), Kanchana 2 Ganga (Muni 3) – have been successful at the box office. Kanchana 2 was a massive hit notching up a theatrical earning of over Rs 100 crores. Lawrence himslef has directed all the three films. He is now back with the next installment – Kanchana 3.

Motion poster of the movie was unveiled today in social medias. Lawrence appears in an old man’s look in the poster. The movie has three female leads in Oviya, Vedika and Niki Tamboli. Kovai Sarala, Devadarshini and Sriman will be reprising their roles from the previous parts. Soori is another new addition to the cast.

In the technical crew, Vetri and Sarvesh Murarri handle the cinematography. Doo Paa Dop is the composer and Ruben is the editor. Lawrence’s banner Raghavendra Production is funding the movie. The makers are eyeing for an April release during the Tamil New Year weekend.

As informed earlier by the makers of ‘Kadaram Kondan’, the movie’s teaser has been released today, on the occasion of Pongal. As expected, it is a stylishly cut teaser which gets very little into the movie’s plot. The movie touted to be an action thriller has been shot extensively in Malaysia. The teaser gives glimpses of high-octane chases and action blocks. It is presumed that Vikram plays a cop in the movie. The actor looks dapper his new salt and pepper bearded avatar.

‘Kadaram Kondan’ is being directed by Rajesh M Selva of ‘Thoongavanam’ fame. Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan is producing the movie under his banner Raajkamal Films International. Tridents Arts is also associated with the production. Kamal Haasan’s younger daughter Akshara Haasan is playing a crucial role in the movie.

In the technical front, the movie has Srinivasa R Gutha wielding the camera, Ghibran as the music director and Praveen KL handling the edits. Release date is expected to be announced shortly.
