Gautham Menon to play a major role in Dulquer Salmaan’s next

Dulquer Salmaan’s Tamil rom-com Kannum Kannum Kollai Adithaal (KKKA) has been in the making for some time now. The movie directed by debutant Desingh Periyasamy was supposed to hit screens in December but got postponed due to some unknown reasons. As per latest reports, the makers are working towards an early 2019 release.

‘Pelli Choopulu’ fame Ritu Varma plays the female lead in the movie. Popular television host Rakshan and Niranjani Ahathian also play major roles. Latest to join the cast is ace filmmaker Gautham Vasudev Menon, who will be playing a crucial role. The director will be seen throughout the movie in a role that is highly prominent in the storyline. Though GVM has acted in quite a few films earlier, it is first with Dulquer, so it will be interesting see them together on-screen.

KKKA has Dulquer playing the role of Sidharth aka Sid, a happy-go-lucky IT professional. Unlike his earlier Tamil films, this one will have some stylish heroic elements as his character has a larger-than-life persona. The actor himself has said that KKKA will be more colourful and louder than the films that he has been doing lately.

It is also said that Dulquer will be making his Tamil playback singing debut with KKKA. Popular music band Masala Cafe have been signed to compose for the movie. Anto Joseph is producing the movie under the banner of Anto Joseph Film Company.

Here’s the first look of Narendra Modi biopic starring Vivek Oberoi

Last week, we had reported about a biopic getting ready in Bollywood for Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Vivek Oberoi is playing Modi’s role in the movie titled as ‘PM Narendra Modi’. Last day, the movie’s first look poster was released in social medias. The poster looks awkward like a shoddily done photoshop work. Omung Kumar is directing the movie. He has earlier helmed two other biopis – who is well known for helming two biopics – Mary Kom and Sarbjit, both of which were critically acclaimed.

Initially, the Modi biopic was planned with veteran actor Paresh Rawal, but he opted out due to some unknown reasons. The movie now seems like a hastily planned one eyeing the forthcoming elections. Vivek Oberoi has already started his preparations and has had a couple of look tests. As per trustworthy, the makers are planning to shoot it in a start-to-finish schedule and release before this year’s Lok Sabha elections.

Sandip SSingh and Suresh Oberoi are producing the movie and it will be presented by Legend Global Studio. Shoot for the movie will be commencing this month.

As informed earlier, the trailer of YSR biopic Yatra has been released online. The movie written and directed by Mahi V Raghav has Mammootty playing YSR’s role. The trailer has opened to great response and looks highly promising. Earlier, a couple of teasers were also released by the makers which got fabulous response from the viewers. Fans and cinephiles alike are eagerly waiting to see Mammootty’s performance as the late leader, YS Rajasekhara Reddy aka YSR.

Yatra is not exactly a biopic, but an event based film. It primarily focuses on the time during YSR’s famous three-month-long padayatra in 2003, which was a changing point in his political career. YSR is a highly respected politician in Andhra Pradesh. Even after his demise, he is still regarded as a people’s leader and respected by millions. Yatra team is hoping to make the film as a fitting tribute to the iconic leader.

Apart from Mammootty, the movie also stars Rao Ramesh, Anasuya Bharadwaj, Suhasini Mani Ratnam, Posani Krishna Murali, Vinod Kumar and Sachin Khedekar. Vijay Chilla and Shashi Devi Reddy are jointly producing the movie under their banner of 70MM Entertainments. The movie is scheduled to hit screens worldwide on February 8.

Dileep signs another new project!

Dileep signs another new project!

It seems like actor Dileep is on a signing spree. He already has a handful of projects in his kitty and the latest we hear is that he has committed for another one. Vyasan KP, who last directed ‘Ayal Jeevichiruppund’, will be helming the movie. Along with Dileep, veteran actor Siddique will also be seen in a major role. As per reports, the film is based on true events and has high scope for performance. The makers have planned to start shooting in March. More details are expected to be officially announced shortly.

Dileep has over five projects coming up in the next two years. His next release will be B Unnikrishnan’s ‘Kodathi Samaksham Balan Vakkeel’, in which he plays the role of an advocate. The movie which also stars Mamta Mohandas and Priya Anand is scheduled for release in February. Bollywood production giant Viacom 18 Motion Pictures is producing the movie.

Dileep has also completed almost all his portions for the ambitious 3D film ‘Professor Dinkan’. Ramachandra Babu is directing the movie and is scripted by Rafi. The latter is scripting another movie for Dileep titled ‘Pickpocket’. P Balachandra Kumar will be directing this big budget film, which will be shot extensively in Brazil.

Dileep is also set to reunite with his ‘Speed Track’ director Jayasurya for a new movie titled ‘Jack Daniel’.
Along with Dileep, the movie will also have veteran Tamil actor Arjun in a major role. It is said to be a big budget action-flick and will be produced by Shibu Thameens of Thameens Films.

Recently, on Christmas day, Dileep took to his social media handle to announce another project. Titled as ‘Parakkum Pappan’, the film will be directed by debutant Viyan Vishnu. It is being produced by the actor’s own banner, Graand Productions and Carnival Motion Pictures. Apart from the aforementioned projects, Dileep has also committed for a film with ‘Oru Vadakkan Selfie’ fame G Prajith and is in talks with directors Arun Gopy and Nadrishah. A sequel to his 2015 blockbuster film, ‘Two Countries’ is also on the cards.

Gokul Suresh has been very choosy with his movies so far. After making an impressive debut with ‘Mudhugauv’ in 2016, he has done only two movies after that – Masterpiece and Ira. He has some promising films coming up. He is playing cameo roles in Madhav Ramdasan’s Ilayaraja and Pranav Mohanlal’s ‘Irupathiyonnam Noottandu’. ‘Ulta’ and ‘Sayanna Varthakal’ are his other films in the pipeline. Latest we hear is that the actor has signed a thriller film with debutant director Sanjith Chandrasenan.

Gokul Suresh is set to undergo a massive physical transformation for the movie. He will be appearing in two different looks, one of them will have sporting a six packs. The youngster has allotted around six months time to develop a ripped physique. Celebrity trainer Shyjan Augustine will be training Gokul Suresh.

Deepu and Sandeep, who had earlier penned the Dhyan Sreenivasan starrer ‘Ore Mugham’, are scripting this upcoming movie. As per the makers, the movie is a psycho thriller with heavy action moments. Along with Gokul, the movie will also have ‘Queen’ fame Druvan in a prominent role. An official announcement with title a d details regarding the other cast and crew is expected to be made shortly.

It has been over a year since Dulquer Salmaan has had a Malayalam release. The actor’s next to hit screens will be ‘Oru Yamandan Premakadha’ and we hear that the makers are eyeing a Vishu release. If things go as per plans, the movie will releasing either on April 5 or 12. Vishu is a much favoured season as it is a period when families flock large theatres in large numbers. A few other biggies are also slated for Vishu release. Let’s wait and see how things turn out.

‘Oru Yamandan Premakadha’ is directed by BC Noufal and scripted by the superhit writer duo of Bibin George and Vishnu Unnikrishnan. Anto Joseph is producing the movie under his banner Anto Joseph Film Company. The movie is expected to be a complete commercial entertainer on the lines of Vishnu Unnikrishnan-Bibin George duo’s previous scripts, ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’ and ‘Kattappanayile Rithwik Roshan’.

According to the makers, Dulquer will be seen as a local Malayali chap in the movie. The story is set in the Fort Kochi and Mattanchery region, a terrian explored numerous times in Malayalam cinema. But the makers have assured that the audience can expect to see an unseen fun side of Dulquer in this movie. Nikhila Vimal and ‘Theevandi’ fame Samyuktha Menon play the two female leads. Salim Kumar, Soubin Shahir, Hareesh Kanaran, Dharmajan, Bibin and Vishnu Unnikrishnan are also part of the movie’s cast.

Pranav Mohanlal starrer ‘Irupathiyonnaam Noottaandu’ is one of the most awaited films in the first quarter of the year. The movie is getting ready to hit screens this month-end, during the Republic Day weekend. Written and directed by Arun Gopy, the movie is touted to be an action-packed adventure thriller. It is producer by Tomichan Mulakupadam under his banner Mulakupadam Films.

Earlier, there were reports about Gokul Suresh also playing a crucial role in the movie alongside Pranav. The makers have now confirmed the same by releasing a poster featuring the two young actors. Gokul apparently plays a brief cameo role in the movie. Though their fathers — Mohanlal and Suresh Gopi — have acted together numerous times in the past, this is the first time the two star kids will be sharing screen space.

‘Irupathiyonnam Noottandu’ has debutante Zaya David as the female lead. Others in the cast include Siddique, Innocent, Abhirav, G Suresh Kumar, Manoj K Jayan, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Bijukuttan, Tini Tom and Kannada actor Harish Raj. The movie’s core technical crew comprises of cinematographer Abhinandan Ramanujam, composer Gopi Sunder Sunder, action choreographer Peter Hein, editor Vivek Harshan, sound designer Renganaath Ravee and art director Joseph Nellickal.

Maamaankam director admits having ego issues with production team

For the last few weeks, there have been lot of talks going on about Maamaankam, the period flick starring Mammootty in the lead. After a swift progress in the first two schedules, the team was hit by a few controversies. Actor Druvan was unceremoniously ousted from the movie followed by reports about issues between the director and production team. Sajeev Pillai is the director and Venu Kunnampilly of Kavya Films is producing this ambitious project.

Maamaankam is being made on a huge budget of Rs 45 crores, so the makers are not willing to take risk with a debutant director. It has now been confirmed that Unni Mukundan has replaced Druvan and veteran M Padmakumar has been signed to assist Sajeev Pillai. The director has so far been very hesitant to open up about the issues but in a recent interview to TOI, he has admitted about having ego issues with the production team. However, he was not willing to accept the makers’ allegation that his work was not up to the mark.

According to Sajeev, the team has several experienced technicians and actors, so there was no reason that the work was substandard. Also Mammootty was thoroughly impressed with the output of whatever they have shot so far. Sajeev adds that he has no issues with Padmakumar coming on board. It’s a big project and they will be next shooting the battle sequences and scenes, so it demands a big creative team.

Besides Mammootty, ‘Maamaankam’ has huge star cast with several non-Malayali actors in it. Bollywood actress Prachi Desai, Prachi Tehlan, Malavika Menon and former Miss Tamil Nadu Abhirami V Iyer have reportedly been signed as the female leads. Neeraj Madhav, Baburaj, Sunil Sukhada, Meghanathan and Sohan Seenulal are already confirmed in the supporting cast.

The movie’s technical crew comprises of renowned cinematographer Ganesh Rajavelu, action choreographer Kaecha Khamphakdee, editor Sreekar Prasad, music director M Jayachandran and VFX supervisor Kamala Kannan.

Tamil Nadu box office is all set to witness a massive clash this Pongal season. Rajinikanth’s Petta and Ajith’s Viswasam are releasing on the same day (January 10) and the excitement around is humongous. Pre-release bookings have already opened and trade experts firmly believe a huge opening is on cards. However, an opening like Sarkar or 2.0 is not likely to be there due to the big clash.

Trade analyst Kaushik LM has tweeted,

Due to the competition and split of shows – #Petta #Viswasam gross numbers won’t be in the range of recent biggies (mostly solo) like #2Point0 #Sarkar #Kaala #Mersal – Tkt prices have also marginally reduced post GST reduction. Gross will be lowered

Petta directed by Karthik Subbaraj has tremendous pre-release hype. Expectations are sky-high after the super impressive posters and teaser. Anirudh Ravichander’s songs have also emerged as chart busters. Along with Rajinikanth, the movie has Vijay Sethupathi, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Sasikumar, Bobby Simha, Simran, Trisha, Malavika Mohanan, Sasikumar, Megha Akash and Mahendran in major roles.
