Official: Here’s the release date of Vijay Superum Pournamiyum

As we had reported recently, the start of 2019 is set to witness three big movies releasing back to back. Asif Ali’s ‘Vijay Superum Pournamiyum’ will be the first to hit screens followed by Nivin Pauly’s ‘Mikhael’, Pranav Mohanlal’s ‘Irupathiyonnam Noottandu’. All three movies belong to different genres and it promises to a treat for the audience. Along with that there’s also the two Tamil biggies – ‘Viswasam’ and ‘Petta – both scheduled on January 10.

‘Vijay Superum Pournamiyum’ (VSP) will be hitting screens on January 11. The movie directed by Jis Joy has Asif Ali and Aishwarya Lekshmi in the lead roles. From the songs and the trailers released so far, the movie promises to be a complete family entertainer with an intense romance and emotions at its core. It marks director Jis Joy’s third time collaboration with Asif Ali after ‘Bicycles Thieves’ and ‘Sunday Holiday’. According to him, VSP will be socially relevant with a good message in it. He has scripted the movie with prominence to humour, friendship, romance and family sentiments.

AK Sunil is producing ‘Vijay Superum Pournamiyum’ under the banner of New Surya Films.

As ‘Petta’ gears up for a grand release this Thursday (January 10), the makers have been releasing new promo videos. Latest is the lyric video of the song ‘Ilamai Thirumbudhe’. It is a beautiful melody featuring the lead pair, Rajinikanth and Simran. Another interesting thing about the song is that it marks the reunion of ‘DnA’ after a long gap. Dhanush has penned the lyrics and is set to tunes by Anirudh.

DnA, were a sensational combo till a couple of years back. They had delivered several blockbuster songs during 2011-16. Some of their most memorable works are ‘3’, ‘Velaiyilla Pattathari’ (VIP) and ‘Maari’. But an alleged fall out between the two meant that they haven’t collaborated for nearly two years now. Finally, it took superstar superstar Rajinikanth to bring back DnA.

‘Petta’ directed by Karthik Subbaraj is a mass entertainer that boasts of a huge star cast. Vijay Sethupathi, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Sasikumar, Bobby Simha, Simran, Trisha, Sasikumar, Malavika Mohanan and Megha Akash will be seen in major roles alongside Rajinikanth. Kalanithi Maran is producing the movie under the banner of Sun Pictures.

Reports about AR Murugadoss teaming up with superstar Rajinikanth have been doing the rounds for sometime now. The director had confirmed the same recently in an award function. According to him, the movie will be a complete mass entertainer just like how the fans expect. The latest we hear is that this yet-to-be-titled movie will start rolling in February. Sun Pictures is most likely to produce this movie. It must be noted that the banner was recently associated with both Rajinikanth and Murugadoss in ‘Petta’ and ‘Sarkar’, respectively.

Rajinikanth’s last release, ‘2.0’, emerged as a huge blockbuster and is currently among the top five in the list of highest grossers in Indian cinema. Superstar is currently awaiting the release of ‘Petta’, directed by Karthik Subbaraj. Along with him, the movie also has a huge star cast comprising of Vijay Sethupathi, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Simran, Trisha, Bobby Simha, Sasikumar and Malavika Mohanan. ‘Petta’ is set to for a grand Pongal release on January 10.

As we already know, Vijay’s next will be directed by Atlee and produced by AGS Entertainment. Pre-production works for the movie are progressing in full swing. As per trustworthy reports, Thalapathy 63 (working title) will be officially launched with a special pooja on January 20. Shoot will be commencing the next day, from January 21. The makers are eyeing a Diwali 2019 release.

Thalapathy 63 marks Vijay’s reunion with director Atlee after the blockbuster success of ‘Theri’ and ‘Mersal’. Unlike their earlier films, that were regular commercial potboilers, this upcoming film belongs to a genre that Vijay hasn’t attempted before. It is said to be a sports drama and Vijay is reportedly playing the role of a woman’s football team coach.

Reports suggest that Vijay has already started working on his physique to achieve a sportsman’s look. Fans are expecting to see Vijay in a never-before-seen getup in the film. ‘Thalapathy 63’ has Nayanthara as the female lead. Vivek is also playing a major role in the movie.

On the technical front, director Atlee has retained the core team from ‘Mersal’. Music department will be handled by maestro AR Rahman and cinematography by GK Vishnu. Editor Antony Ruben, lyricist Vivek and action choreographer Anal Arasu are also on board.

Last day, the makers of ‘Vijay Superum Pournamiyum’ released the second trailer and a new song in social medias. The movie directed by Jis Joy has Asif Ali and Aishwarya Lekshmi in the lead roles. The team visited the Facebook head office in Hyderabad for the digital trailer launch. The song ‘Pakalaay’ is rendered beautifully by Vijay Yesudas and composed by debutant Prince George. Director Jis Joy himself has penned the lyrics.

Vijay Superum Pournamiyum promises to be a complete family entertainer with an intense romance and emotions at its core. Asif Ali plays an engineering graduate while Aishwarya plays his pair, Pournami, an MBA student. The elaborate supporting cast comprises of Balu Varghese, Jospeh Annamkutty Jose, Devan, Siddique, Aju Varghese, KPAC Lalitha, Renji Panicker, Shanthi Krishna and Darshana Rajendran.

Pranav Mohanlal’s ‘Irupathiyonnaam Noottaandu’ is one of the big releases in the first quarter of the year. The movie is getting ready to hit screens during the Republic Day weekend. Written and directed by Arun Gopy, the movie touted as an action-packed adventure thriller. Tomichan Mulakupadam is producing the movie under his banner Mulakupadam Films.

‘Irupathiyonnaam Noottaandu’ has Pranav playing the role of a surfing instructor. Earlier, there were reports about Gokul Suresh also playing a crucial role in the movie. Speculations started when Gokul shared a photo from the movie’s sets. It has now been confirmed that the young actor appears in a cameo role. Though their fathers — Mohanlal and Suresh Gopi have acted together numerous times in the past, this is the first time the two star kids will be sharing screen space.

‘Irupathiyonnam Noottandu’ has debutante Zaya David as the female lead. Others in the cast include Siddique, Innocent, Abhirav, G Suresh Kumar, Manoj K Jayan, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Bijukuttan, Tini Tom and Kannada actor Harish Raj.

As informed earlier by the makers, the teaser of Kumbalangi Nights has been released online. Debutant Madhu C Narayanan is directing the movie which stars Shane Nigam, Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi, newcomer Mathew Thomas and Fahadh Faasil in major roles. National award winner Syam Pushkaran has scripted the movie.

The one-minute-long teaser which features Shane Nigam, Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi, newcomer Mathew Thomas and a foreign actress sharing a light moment. According to the makers, ‘Kumbalangi Nights’ is a modern family drama set in Kumbalangi, a suburb in the city of Kochi. Soubin, Shane Nigam, Sreenath Bhasi and Mathew Thomas play brothers in the movie while Fahadh Faasil will be seen as the villain.

‘Kumbalangi Nights’ has camera handled by Shyju Khalid and music by Sushin Shyam. Syam Pushkaran along with actor-director Dileesh Pothan have launched a new production house named Working Class Hero and ‘Kumbalangi Nights’ is their maiden venture. They are producing it jointly with Fahadh Faasil’s banner Fahadh Faasil and Friends.

Pranav Mohanlal starrer ‘Irupathiyonnaam Noottaandu’ is currently in the final stage of post-production. The movie is scheduled for release during the Republic Day weekend. Written and directed by Arun Gopy, the movie has Pranav in the role of an adventure junkie. It has been confirmed that the actor plays a surfing instructor in the movie. According to the director, besides the market value, Pranav’s physical flexibility to play such a role was the reason behind casting him.

Since Pranav is used to doing gymnastics, skydiving and rock climbing, he has a fluid and flexible body language. His ability to do swift action was seen in the Parkour fights in ‘Aadhi’. For this movie, the makers had travelled to Bali to shoot the surfing portions. Abinandan Ramanjunam, well known for his excellent work in ‘Amen’ and ‘Mosayile Kuthira Meenukal’ (MKM), is cranking the camera. The underwater shots in the MKM was widely appreciated. We can expect to see some beautiful visuals in this movie as well.

Viswasam censored with clean U; All set for a grand Pongal release

Thala Ajith’s highly anticipated rural entertainer Viswasam has cleared the final roadblock on its way before the release. The movie went to the censors today and has been granted a clean U certificate. As per trustworthy reports, the run time is 2 hours 32 minutes which is perfect for a festival time family entertainer.

Viswasam directed by Siva has Ajith appearing in two different looks. Nayanthara plays the female lead. The cast also includes Yogi Babu, Vivek, Jagapathi Babu, Ravia Wana, Anikha, Thambi Ramaiah, Bose Venkat, Robo Shankar and Kovai Sarala. The technical crew comprises of cinematographer Vetri, music director D Imman, stunt choreographer Dilip Subbarayan and editor Ruben.

Viswasam is Ajith’s fourth film with director Siva after Veeram, Vedhalam and Vivegam. While Veeram and Vedhalam were commercially successful, Vivegam was unimpressive and bombed at the box office. The duo will be hoping to reap success this time with Viswasam.

Sathya Jyothi Films is producing the movie and KJR Studios is distributing in Tamil Nadu. With the censoring done, all eyes are now on January 10. Kollywood is set to Viswasam witness a huge box office clash as both Rajinikanth’s Petta is also scheduled for the same day. The Thala Thalaivar battle is on.

Peranbu trailer to be released tomorrow

After garnering acclaim from various international film festivals, Mammootty starrer ‘Peranbu’ is finally set to hit screens in February. Before that, the movie’s trailer will be released tomorrow at 8 PM. Written and directed by Ram, ‘Peranbu’ tells a poignant story of a doting father and his mentally challenged girl child. Mammootty and ‘Thanga Meengal’ fame Sadhana played the lead roles.

The makers of ‘Peranbu’ had earlier released a couple of teasers that gave glimpses of some heart-rending performances from Mammootty and Sadhana. The trailer is expected to delve more into the plot. The movie also stars Anjali, Samuthirakani, Suraj Venjaramoodu and Anjali Ameer in major roles. It has music composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja and cinematography by Theni Easwar.

Earlier this year, ‘Peranbu’ was screened at Rotterdam festival (IFFR) and Shanghai festival. The movie had its premiere recently at the International Film Festival of India, Goa (IFFI). Theatrical release date is expected to be announced very soon.
