The teaser of Kunchacko Boban’s ‘Allu Ramendran’, which was released last day, has gone viral in social medias. The actor who is often criticised for staying within his comfort zone has clearly pushed the limits for this movie. With a twirled moustache and a scar on his head, he appears convincing in the ‘mass’ look. Shaan Rahman’s effective background score further amplifies the mass element. The teaser has already fetched around three lakh views and is currently at the top position in the YouTube trending list.

Directed by debutant Bilahari, ‘Allu Ramendran’ has Kunchacko Boban playing the titular role of a police constable. The movie also has ‘Premam’ fame Krishna Sankar in another major role. Aparna Balamurali and ‘Darwinte Parinamam’ fame Chandini Sreedharan play the two female leads.

The movie’s technical crew includes ‘Anuraga Karikkin Vellam’ fame Jimshi Khalid as the cinematographer and Akash Joseph Varghese as the editor. Aashiq Usman, who had earlier produced Kunchako Boban’s ‘Varnyathil Aashanka’ and ‘Shajahanum Pareekkuttyum’ is bankrolling this movie as well.

Ente Ummante Peru continues its successful run!

Among the slew of films that got released for Christmas, Tovino’s ‘Ente Ummante Peru’ has managed to garner good response. The movie is entering its second week of theatrical run with solid occupancy in most centres. In the Kochi multiplexes, it has crossed the Rs 10 lakh mark in five days time. It is a kind of feel-good entertainer that families would love to watch during this holiday season. Safe to say, Tovino has got himself another winner in 2018.

Directed by debutantJose Sebastian, ‘Ente Ummante Peru’ tells a heartwarming mom-son relationship. Along with Tovino, veteran actress Urvasi plays the other lead role. The movie traces the journey of Tovino’s character, Hameed, in search of his mother, whom he has never seen in his entire life. Though the subject is quite heavy and emotional, the fun element is aptly placed throughout and keeps the proceedings light.

Urvashi and Tovino’s chemistry is the USP of the movie. Their combination scenes have worked out wonderfully and critics have all leading critics have pointed out the same. As the word of mouth is positive in social medias, the movie is sure to attract more audiences to theatres in the coming days.

Luca: Tovino’s next to start rolling in January

Tovino Thomas has had a great 2018 with eight releases, which included a cameo appearance, a Tamil-Malayalam bilingual and his debut straight Tamil film. Most of his films were successful which further cemented his position among the top league of stars. He will be starting 2019 with ‘Luca’, a project which was announced earlier this year.

Debutant Arun Bose is directing the movie and he is also scripting it jointly with Mridul George. Ahaana Krishna, noted for her roles in ‘Njan Steve Lopez’ and ‘Njandukalude Naattil Oridavela’ has been signed as the female lead. Nimish Ravi will be cranking the camera and promising young composer Sooraj S Kurup will be handling the music department. Linto Thomas and Prince Hussain are jointly producing the movie under the banner of Stories and Thoughts Productions.

Meanwhile, Tovino’s Christmas release ‘Ente Unmante Peru’ is doing well in theatres. The movie which is a feel-good entertainer has received a warm reception from the family audience. Tovino will be hoping to take forward the momentum and continue his good run with ‘Luca’.

Trailer of Rajinikanth’s Petta to be out soon!!

After the extraordinary response to the teaser and songs, the makers of Petta will now be releasing the trailer. The much awaited trailer will be out on social medias on December 28. While the teaser solely focused on Rajinikanth, the trailer is expected to show glimpses of the other actors. The movie has Vijay Sethupathi, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Sasikumar, Bobby Simha, Simran, Trisha, Malavika Mohanan, Sasikumar, Megha Akash and Mahendran in major roles.

Directed by Karthik Subbaraj, Petta is touted to be an action packed mass entertainer. The movie reportedly has Rajinikanth as a college hostel warden, who has a dark past. Simran and Trisha are paired with him in the film. Expectations are sky-high after the super impressive posters and teaser. Anirudh’s songs have also emerged hugely successful.

Kalanithi Maran is producing the movie under the banner of Sun Pictures. It is scheduled for a grand worldwide release this January for Pongal.

Pranav Mohanlal starrer ‘Irupathiyonnaam Noottaandu’ is expected to hit screens next month.
The movie is currently in the post-production phase. On Christmas day, the makers have released the second look poster. Pranav is seen with a surfing board in this poster. As reported by us earlier, the actor plays an adventure junkie in the film. The team had shot his surfing portions in Bali.

Directed by Arun Gopy of ‘Ramaleela’ fame, ‘Irupathiyonnam Noottandu’ is touted to be an action-packed thriller. Pranav has reportedly done some risky stunts in the movie. With Peter Hein behind the stunts, action lovers can expect to see some gripping stunts. Others in the technical crew includes cinematographer Abhinandan Ramanujam, composer Gopi Sunder Sunder, editor Vivek Harshan, sound designer Renganaath Ravee and art director Joseph Nellickal.

Tomichan Mulakupadam is producing the movie under his banner Mulakupadam Films. Official announcement regarding the release date will be made shortly

Dileep’s next titled as ‘Parakkum Pappan’

Today, on the day of Christmas, Dileep took to his social media handle to announce his new film. Titled as ‘Parakkum Pappan’, the film will be directed by debutant Viyan Vishnu. The title poster was shared in the actor’s official Facebook handle. The title, tagline and poster hints at a local superhero flick, but we will have to wait and see if it’s just a fun title. The movie will be produced jointly by Dileep’s Graand Productions and Carnival Motion Pictures. More details are expected to be revealed shortly.

Dileep currently has around five projects in his kitty. His next release will be B Unnikrishnan’s ‘Kodathi Samaksham Balan Vakkeel’, in which he plays the role of an advocate. The movie which also stars Mamta Mohandas and Priya Anand is scheduled to hit screens in February. Bollywood production giant Viacom 18 Motion Pictures is making their entry to Malayalam film industry with this movie.

Dileep has also completed major portions of his ambitious 3D film ‘Professor Dinkan’. Ramachandra Babu is directing the movie and is scripted by Rafi. The latter is scripting another movie for Dileep titled ‘Pickpocket’. P Balachandra Kumar will be directing this big budget film, which will be shot extensively in Brazil.

Dileep is also set to reunite with his ‘Speed Track’ director Jayasurya for a new movie titled ‘Jack Daniel’.
Along with Dileep, the movie will also have veteran Tamil actor Arjun in a major role. It is said to be a big budget action-flick and will be produced by Shibu Thameens of Thameens Films.

Apart from the aforementioned projects, Dileep has signed for a new film with ‘Oru Vadakkan Selfie’ fame G Prajith. The actor is also said to be in talks for new projects with Arun Gopy and Nadrishah. A sequel to his 2015 blockbuster film, ‘Two Countries’ is also on the cards.

Bollywood production giant Viacom 18 Motion Pictures is making their entry to Malayalam industry by funding this movie.

‘Kodathi Samaksham Balan Vakkeel’ has Dileep playing the role of an advocate who has a stuttering problem. It is said to be a very challenging role and the audience can expect to see a sincere performance from the actor. B Unnikrishnan has also scripted the movie, which promises to explore the acting potential of Dileep. The movie also has three female leads in Mamta Mohandas, Priya Anand and Prayaga Rose Martin. Reportedly, all three female actors have equal prominence in the movie along with Dileep.

Prithviraj’s directorial debut, Lucifer, starring Mohanlal is one of the most talked about movies in recent years. The very fact that two of the biggest stars of Malayalam cinema are coming together for the first time has skyrocketed the expectations. Besides that the movie also boasts of a stellar star cast comprising of Indrajith Sukumaran, Vivek Oberoi, Tovino Thomas and Manju Warrier.

Recently, there were rumours about Pranav Mohanlal playing a cameo role in the movie. Several online medias had reported it and the news became viral. However, the movie’s writer Murali Gopy has dismissed it as baseless rumours spread by some medias to give false hopes about the movie. According to him, false expectations and unnecessary hype can kill a movie watching experience. He requested genuine movie lovers to not spread such false reports.

Lucifer, according to the makers, is a political thriller with elements of a mass entertainer. Antony Perumbavoor of Aashirvad Cinemas is producing the movie. Shoot is nearing completion, with the final schedule progressing in Lakshwadeep.

Yatra, the YSR biopic starring megastar Mammootty is eagerly awaited by cinephiles across the South. YS Rajasekhara Reddy aka YSR, who is one of the most revered politicians that the state of Andhra Pradesh has ever seen, enjoys great legacy among the masses there. When Mammootty plays the role of YSR, naturally, expectations are around how he handles the language and steps in as the people’s leader.

Sound modulation has always been Mammootty’s forte and if the movie’s teasers are anything to go by, Mammootty has done some solid homework to get the Telugu diction right. Reiterating the same, Prithviraj has shared his thoughts after watching a couple of scenes in Yatra. The actor has tweeted,

Yatra’ director Mahi V Raghav tweeted back,

Yatra is not a regular biopic but an event based film. The movie primarily focuses on the time during YSR’s famous three-month-long padayatra in 2003, which was a changing point in his political career. Apart from Mammootty, the movie also stars Rao Ramesh, Anasuya Bharadwaj, Suhasini Mani Ratnam, Posani Krishna Murali, Vinod Kumar and Sachin Khedekar.

Vijay Chilla and Shashi Devi Reddy are jointly producing the movie under their banner of 70MM Entertainments. It will be released simultaneously in Telugu and Malayalam on February 8.

Dulquer Salmaan writes a sweet little note on the third anniversary of Charlie

It’s been three years since Dulquer Salmaan weaved magic on screen as Charlie. The Martin Prakkat directorial was a fine cinematic experience that blended art, music, love and travel magically. Releasing for Christmas 2015, the movie emerged as a sensational success. The movie scripted by Unni R had Dulquer playing Charlie, a Bohemian kind of vagabond.

On the third anniversary of the movie’s release, Dulquer has written a sweet little note on what he rates has one of his most memorable films. He has written,

3 years of Charlie ! One of the most memorable films. Amazing shoot experience. Amazing film. Amazing team. Can remember everything about making it so vividly. So glad the love we put into it came back to us multiple fold from all of you ! Thank you to each and everyone of you and love always to you all !

During its time of release, Charlie was hugely hyped thanks to Dulquer’s styling and the rugged beard. Staying true to the hype, the movie set a new record in the opening day box office collections. It went on to win unanimous appreciation from the critics and common audience. Fittingly, the movie swept the Kerala State Awards for the year 2015 bagging eight awards that included Best Director for Martin Prakkat, Best Screenplay for Unni R and Martin Prakkat, Best Actor for Dulquer Salmaan, Best Actress for Parvathy Menon and Best Cinematographer for Jomon T John.

Although there were reports about the movie getting a Tamil version with Madhavan reprising Dulquer’s role, the project never took off. If at all a remake happens, it will be a huge task for the makers to recreate the magic.
