Tovino’s ‘And The Oscar Goes’ to have its premiere at an international film festival

Tovino Thomas starrer ‘And The Oscar Goes To’ is an eagerly awaited film. The movie is being directed by Salim Ahamed, who is well known for helming acclaimed films like ‘Adaminte Makan Abu’ and ‘Pathemari’. Shoot for the movie was recently wrapped up and the makers are now getting it ready for a premiere at an international film festival. Tovino himself revealed this in a recent interview. According to him, it is an international film and in a commercial format.

‘And The Oscar Goes To’ has Tovino playing the role of a director. The movie tells the story of a film taking its director to the Oscars. Salim Ahamed has scripted the movie after being inspired by the real lives of several filmmakers. The movie has a good line up of supporting actors. Siddique, Anu Sithara, Lal, Sreenivasan, Salim Kumar, Zarina Wahab and Appani Sarath are some of them.

The movie has got some big names in the technical side as well. Madhu Ambat has cranked the camera and Bijibal handles the music department. Resul Pookutty has been signed for sound design and mixing. Allen Media Presents the movie in association with Canadian Movie Corp.

If latest reports are to be believed, megastar Mammootty and Anushka Shetty will be teaming up for a romantic film. The movie will be directed by Sharrath Sandith, who made his directorial debut earlier this year with ‘Parole’, also starring Mammootty. Reportedly, Sharrath was supposed to direct the Mammootty-Anushka film first but it didn’t work out then due to some unknown reasons. If news about this new film turns out to be true, it will be refreshing to see Mammootty and Anushka together on screen. An official confirmation regarding the project is still awaited.

Mammootty meanwhile has a long list of promising films coming up. He is currently working on two films – Vyasakh’s ‘Madura Raja’ and Khalid Rahman’s ‘Unda’. He had recently completed his portions for the YSR biopic ‘Yatra’ and has already finished a couple of
schedules for the epic period film ‘Maamankam’. He has also signed for a new film with director Vinod Vijayan, titled as ‘Ameer’. Another film in the pipeline is the Ramesh Pisharody directorial ‘Ganagandharvan’. ‘Bilal’, sequel to the star’s 2007 film’ ‘Big B’ has also been announced.

Rajinikanth’s 2.0 is the current talk of town. The movie which got released last day has opened to phenomenal response, both in the Indian and overseas box office. Early reports from trade experts suggest that the movie has emerged as the highest opening day grosser in Kollywood. It is expected to shatter multiple records in the coming days.

Directed by the ace Shankar, 2.0 has two of Indian cinema’s biggest superstars – Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar – coming together for the first time. After the initial shows, the movie has opened to unanimously positive reviews. Even those who were skeptical about the film after its trailer and promos, have changed their opinion and are busy heaping praise on this visual spectacle.

Director Shankar’s love for Kerala and its actors is well known as most of his films have had a Malayali presence. Vineeth in ‘Gentleman’, Nedumudi Venu in ‘Anniyan’ ‘Indian’, Cochin Haneefa in ‘Mudhalvan’, ‘Enthiran’ and ‘Anniyan’, Kalabhavan Mani in ‘Enthiran’ and ‘Anniyan’ and Suresh Gopi in ‘I’ are a few examples. 2.0 also has a Malayali presence in Kalabhavan Shajohn. The actor was chosen by Shankar after being impressed by his performance in ‘Drishyam’. Shajon plays the Telecom Minister’s role in the film. Though it is a brief role, the actor’s performance made it memorable.

Last day, Shajon shared a couple of photos taken with Akshay Kumar and Shankar from the movie’s sets. He also thanked the audience for accepting the movie and his character. The actor is expected to bag more meaty in roles in Tamil in the future.

The Christmas season is closing in and several films are getting ready to cash in on the holiday period. Both Tovino and Fahadh are fresh from the success of their last release – ‘Oru Kupprasidha Payyan’ and ‘Varathan’, respectively. Needless to say, we have got an exciting box office clash on cards.

Tovino has pinned high hopes on ‘Ente Ummante Peru’. The actor assures that the movie will be a fun filled family entertainer. Directed by debutant Jose Sebastian, the movie has Tovino and veteran actress Urvasi in the leads. As the title suggests, the movie tells an endearing story of a mother-son relationship. Newcomer Saipriya plays the female lead. Shanthi Krishna, Dileesh Pothan, Hareesh Kanaran, Siddique and Mammukoya are also part of the supporting cast.

On the other hand, ‘Njan Prakashan’ is special for many reasons. The movie marks Fahadh’s second outing with director Sathyan Anthikad after the successful ‘Oru Indian Pranayakadha’. The writer-director duo of Sreenivasan and Sathyan Anthikad, known for delivering several hit films, are reuniting after a 16-year-long gap with this movie. Recently, the makers had released a teaser which got phenomenal response from the viewers.

Even those who were skeptical about the film after its trailer and promos, have changed their opinion and are busy heaping praise on this visual spectacle.

Social media platforms are brimmed with talks about 2.0. Netizens are lavishing praise on director Shankar for his vision and efforts to bring out something that Indian cinema can be proud of forever. The visual effects and CG that delayed the movie’s release multiple times is getting appreciation from all corners for it is on par or even better than some of the best Hollywood films. As we already know, Mohanlal’s highly anticipated film ‘Odiyan’ is scheduled to hit screens on December 14. The mass-fantasy entertainer genre, Peter Hein’s action choreography and Mohanlal’s multiple looks are some of the reasons that makes the audience wait eagerly the movie’s release. Now we have got one more reason to look forward to the release.

It is being reported that the teaser of ‘Lucifer’ will be released alongside ‘Odiyan’, first in theatres and later in social medias. Since both the films are produced by the same banner, Aashirvad Cinema, such a possibility cannot be dismissed. Though an official word has not been made, fans are already high on excitement.

Meanwhile, ‘Lucifer’ shoot is nearing completion. The movie which marks the directorial debut of actor Prithviraj is touted to be a political thriller. Murali Gopy has scripted the movie that has Mohanlal in the lead role of Stephen Nedumballi, a politician. Indrajith Sukumaran, Vivek Oberoi, Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier and Saniya Iyappan are also part of the cast. The movie is slated for a summer release next March.

What seemed like a never ending wait is coming to an end as 2.0 is all set for release tomorrow (November 29). The whole country is eagerly looking forward to the movie and it is proved by the kind of wide release that the movie is getting. 2.0 will be releasing in over 10,600 across the world, which makes it the biggest release for an Indian movie ever. Touted to be the nation’s most costliest movie ever, the makers have invested a whopping budget of Rs 600 crores on it.

2.0 is a highly ambitious sci-fi flick that is a continuation of the Rajinikanth-Shankar combo’s 2010 film, Enthiran. Along with Rajinikanth, the movie also has Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar in a major role. He is supposedly playing the antagonist in the film. The fact that two of Indian cinema’s biggest superstars are coming together for the first time itself has skyrocketed the expectations.

From the glimpses we got to see in the teaser and making videos, 2.0 promises to be nothing short of a visual extravaganza, something of the sort that is never-before-seen in Indian cinema history. The movie is releasing tomorrow in 3D format in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu languages.

Priyadarshan’s magnum opus ‘Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham’ is getting ready to go on floors next month. Set works for the movie is progressing at a brisk pace in Ramoji Rao Film City, Hyderabad. Multiple national award winner Sabu Cyril is in charge of the production designer. His team is working tirelessly to build grand sets, which includes a huge ship where major portions will be shot.

The movie is based on the life of Kunjali Marakkar IV. Kunjali Marakkar was the title given to the naval chief of Zamorin of Calicut in the 16th century, whose duty was to protect the coast against the invading Portuguese army. Mohanlal, Pranav, Arjun Sarja, Suniel Shetty, Mukesh, Keerthy Suresh, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Madhu, Manju Warrier and Pooja Kumar are said to be part of the cast. Few British and Chinese actors will also be seen in the movie.

Marakkar.. is a challenging subject and naturally it demands the best of technicians and artists. Tirru has been signed as the cinematographer and music will be handled by three different composers. Some leading technicians from abroad will also be associated with this ambitious project.

The makers have planned to start shooting by December second week and wrap it up by mid-2019. The movie will be hitting screens only in 2020 as it demands extensive post-production works, which will be mostly done abroad. Aashirvad Cinemas, Confident Group and Moonshot Entertainment are coming together to produce what is one of the most expensive projects in Malayalam cinema till date. It has been planned to be made on an estimated budget of Rs 100 crores.
