Tovino assures that Ente Ummante Peru will be a fun, family entertainer

Tovino Thomas is working back to back on multiple projects. The actor has already had five releases this year and has two more coming up next month. His first straight Tamil film ‘Maari 2’ and ‘Ente Ummante Peru’ (EUP) are both scheduled for Christmas releases. While he plays a tough antagonist in Maari 2, EUP has him in the role of a normal Malabari youth.

Tovino recently finished dubbing for ‘Ente Ummante Peru’. The actor has pinned high hopes on the movie. He assures that the movie will be a fun, family entertainer. Interestingly, he committed for the project three years back but then the producers were unsure about such a movie clicking in Malayalam. It finally materialised this year courtesy Tovino’s rising and his popularity the families.

The movie directed by debutant Jose Sebastian has Tovino and veteran actress Urvasi in the leads. As the title suggests, the movie tells an endearing story of a mother-son relationship. Newcomer Saipriya plays the female lead. Shanthi Krishna, Dileesh Pothan, Hareesh Kanaran, Siddique and Mammukoya are also part of the supporting cast.

On the technical front, Spain-born Jordi Plannel Closa is the DOP and Gopi Sunder handles the music department. Mahesh Narayanan is the editor. The movie is being produced jointly by Anto Jospeh Film Company and Al Tari Movies. It is slated to hit screens on December 21.

As informed earlier by the makers, the first single from Dhanush starrer Maari 2 has been released today. The song titled ‘Rowdy Baby’ is a fun peppy track set to tunes by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Dhanush has penned the lyrics, and he has also rendered the song along with Dhee. With two terrific dancers in Dhanush and Sai Pallavi, this song is sure to be an audience favorite. Prabhudeva has choreographed the song.

Maari 2 is the sequel to Dhanush’s Maari, which was released in 2015. Balaji Mohan, who directed the first part is helming the sequel as well. Anirudh’s music was the USP of Maari. But in the sequel, Yuvan Shankar Raja has replaced him. It is after a long gap that Yuvan is composing for a Dhanush starrer, so expectations are high among the fans and music lovers.

Maari 2 has Malayali actor Tovino Thomas, Varalakshmi Sarath Kumar and Krishna in major roles. The movie is expected to hit screens next month as a Christmas release. Dhanush himself is producing the movie under his banner Wunderbar Films.

Vijay Sethupathi-Trisha starrer 96 has emerged as a huge success, both critically and commercially. The movie has been getting unanimous appreciation from all corners ever since its release on October 4. Both critics and commoners have rated it as one of the finest romantic flicks that have come out of Tamil cinema in recent years.

Directed by cinematographer-turned-filmmaker Prem Kumar, 96 is a poignant tale of how two childhood sweethearts meet after two decades for a school reunion. Last day, the makers released a deleted video from the movie through social medias. It is a beautiful scene involving lead characters Ram and Jaanu happening to meet legendary playback singer S Janaki.

Besides Tamil Nadu, the movie emerged hugely successful in Kerala as well. It is one of the most profitable movies in the state this year. The Kerala rights of for 96 was acquired for Rs 50 lakhs and the movie earned double the amount from its theatrical run. It is by far the biggest hit of Vijay Sethupathi in the state. Previously, his ‘Vikram Vedha’, which also had Madhavan in the lead, had performed well here.

In what is the first of many to come, director Mridual Nair of ‘B Tech’ fame is helming a new series titled ‘Instagraamam’. Mammootty unveiled the first look poster and it was shared online by Asif Ali.

Along with sharing the poster, Asif Ali has also written,

The Christmas season is closing in and several films are getting ready to cash in on the holiday period. Tovino’s ‘Ente Ummante Peru’ is the latest to join the race. The actor recently shared a photo from the dubbing suite and informed that they are working towards a smooth release on December 21. The movie directed by debutant Jose Sebastian has Tovino playing the lead along with veteran actress Urvasi. As the title suggests, the movie tells an endearing story of a mother-son relationship.

‘Ente Ummante Peru’ is scripted jointly by Jose Sebastian and Sarath R Nair. The movie has Tovino playing Hameed, an average Muslim youngster from Malabar who runs an antique shop. Newcomer Saipriya has been paired with him in the movie. Shanthi Krishna, Dileesh Pothan, Hareesh Kanaran, Siddique and Mammukoya are also part of the supporting cast.

Vijay Sethupathi is one of those actors who is loved by audience of all age groups. Recently, the makers of ‘Vijay Superum Pournamiyum’ had released the trailer in social medias. It has met with fabulous response and has already crossed a whopping one million digital views. Asif Ali and Aishwarya Lekshmi play the lead roles in the movie. Jis Joy is directing the movie, which is gearing up to hit screens early next year.

According to the director, ‘Vijay Superum Pournamiyum’ will be a socially relevant film with a good message in it. Director Salim Ahamed is well known for helming acclaimed films like ‘Adaminte Makan Abu’ and ‘Pathemari’. He has scripted ‘And The..’ after being inspired by the real lives of aspiring filmmakers. Madhu Ambat is cranking the camera and Bijibal handles the music department. Resul Pookutty has been signed for sound design and mixing. KS Chithra records a song for ‘Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham’

Priyadarshan’s magnum opus ‘Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham’ is getting ready to go on floors next month. This highly ambitious period-flick has Mohanlal playing the lead and several other top stars in major roles. After months of pre-production, the makers have finalized the cast and technical crew. Priyadarshan had earlier revealed that he will be experimenting with the music by roping in three different composers.

Ronnie Raphael, a lesser known musical artist who has composed for films like ‘Aalorukkam’, ‘Bobby’ and ‘Overtake’, has been signed for ‘Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham’. He recently recorded a song with the legendary KS Chithra. BK Harinarayanan has penned the lyrics. Earlier, Ronnie had taken to his social media handle to express his gratitude to Priyadarshan for him giving such a big opportunity. Sharing a photo with the director, he has written,

“Over the moon as my boy hood dreams are coming true, will be doing music for legendary Priyadarshan sirs prestigious Movie “KUNJALI MARRAKAR”*ing The complete actor Mohanlal. Thank you sir for believing and giving me this opportunity. Much respect and love from the bottom of heart.” (sic)

The makers of ‘Marakkar..’ are yet to officially announce the names of the other composers. Ilayaraaja, MG Sreekumar and ‘Premam’ fame Rajesh Murugesan are some of the names doing the rounds in social medias. Others in the technical crew include cinematographer Tirru and production designer Sabu Cyril. Some leading technicians from abroad will also be associated with this ambitious project.

Aashirvad Cinemas, Confident Group and Moonshot Entertainment are coming together to produce what is one of the most expensive projects in Malayalam cinema till date. The makers are planning to complete the entire shoot by next March and the film will be hitting screens only in 2020 as it demands extensive post production works.

Confirmed: Additional screening for Peranbu at IFFI today

Mammootty’s ‘Peranbu’ had its Indian premiere on November 25 at the at the ongoing International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Goa. Since the movie had gained international acclaim after being screened at the Rotterdam festival and Shanghai festival, there was huge rush for the movie at the IFFI. Tickets were sold out within minutes leaving hundreds stranded. As a large section of attendees were disappointed on missing out the movie, the organizers have now arranged a rescreening.

‘Peranbu’ will have an additonal screening at INOX Screen – III at 11.30 PM today. During the first screening at INOX – II, the movie got unanimously positive response. Director Ram, producer PL Thenappan and actress Sadhana were honoured by the organizers. Ram had also interacted with the audience after the movie and patiently answered their questions.

‘Peranbu’ tells a poignant story of a doting father and his mentally challenged girl child. Those who watched the movie at IFFI have been raving about the performances of Mammootty and Sadhana. Both the actors are expected to bag quite a few awards for this movie. It also stars Anjali, Samuthirakani, Anjali Ameer and Siddique in major roles.

The makers are yet to officially announce the theatrical release date.
