Here’s the first look of Nivin Pauly’s Mikhael

As informed by us earlier, the first look of Nivin Pauly’s upcoming movie, ‘Mikhael’ has been released today in social medias. The movie is being directed by Haneef Adeni of ‘The Great Father’ and ‘Abrahaminte Santhathikal’ fame. Shoot is nearing completion and is expected to hit screens early next year. Anto Joseph is producing the movie under his banner Anto Joseph Film Company.

Haneef Adeni has delivered big hits with his first two outings – ‘The Great Father’ and ‘Abrahaminte Santhathikal’ (writer), and so, ‘Mikhael’ naturally has high expectations among the audience. The director is noted for his stylish filmmaking and ‘Mikhael’ also promises to be on similar lines.

The movie, according to the makers, is a family-oriented thriller. Nivin plays a doctor in the movie. Along with him, Unni Mukundan is also there in a crucial role. The makers have still not divulged details about his role, which naturally has raised the curiosity. Manjima Mohan, JD Chakravarthy, Siddique, Renji Panicker, Ashokan, Shanthi Krishna, Kalabhavan Shajon and KPAC Lalitha are also part of the cast.

Kayamkulam Kochunni becomes the second Malayalam movie to enter the Rs 100 crore club

As expected, ‘Kayamkulam Kochunni’ has become the second Malayalam movie after ‘Pulimurugan’ to touch the coveted 100 crore mark. Hitting screens on October 11, the movie opened to tremendous response at the box office. The movie soon emerged as the fastest Rs 50 crore grosser in the in industry. A simultaneous release worldwide helped to movie to reap massive initial box office collections. With that kind of a huge opening, trade pundits had predicted that it would enter the Rs 100 crore club. The makers have now officially declared that the movie has done business of over Rs 100 crores. A detailed breakdown has also been given.

Box office collections from Kerala and Rest of India account to Rs 57 crores. Satellite rights for the movie was sold to a whopping Rs 15 crores. From the GCC centres, the movie has earned Rs 18 crores. From other overseas centres, the movie has earned a sum of Rs 4.82 crores (UK, Europe – 1.75 crore, New Zealand – Rs 17 lakhs, US- Rs 1.80 crore, Austraila- 1.10 crore). The audio and video rights were sold for Rs 1 crore. Dubbing rights for Rs 3.50 crore and Hindi remake rights for Rs 3 crore. The sum total of all this adds up to Rs 102.32 crore.

‘Kayamkulam Kochunni’ directed by Rosshan Andrrews is the story of Kerala’s legendary highwayman, Kochunni, who was active in the 18th century. Scriptwriter duo Bobby-Sanjay adapted the popular folk stories of Kerala and gave their own interpretation to it. Nivin Pauly played the titular role in the movie and superstar Mohanlal appears in an extended cameo as Ithikkara Pakki. The latter’s 15-minute-appearance is the movie’s major attraction.

Made on a budget of Rs 45 crores, ‘Kayamkulam Kochunni’ is one of the most expensive movies ever made in Malayalam cinema. Gokulam Gopalan of Sri Gokulam Films has produced the movie.

Tamil film industry members donate generously towards Gaja cyclone relief

The Gaja cyclone that lashed the state of Tamil Nadu last week has taken around 50 lives and caused destruction of properties worth hundreds of crores in the state. Nagapattinam, Thanjavur, Pudhukottai, Sivagangai, Thiruvavur, Dindugal and parts of Theni and Madurai have been severely affected by the cyclone. According to official reports, around 750 livestock too have been killed in the cyclone. Crops in 88,102 hectares, mostly paddy, coconut and banana, have also been extensively damaged.

The state government and disaster relief management teams are working tirelessly to bring back normalcy in cyclone-hit areas. . NGOs, students and various other organizations are providing the relief materials for the affected people. Tamil cinema celebrities have also come forward with donations to help their fellow state men.

Suriya’s family was among the first to contribute to the relief operations. They had donated Rs 50 lakhs through NGOs. Like how he did during the Kerala floods, actor Vijay has deposited money to his fan clubs in the respective affected areas. The actor has sent Rs 4.50 lakhs each to nine bank accounts of Vijay Makkal Iyakkam heads to help those affected.

Likewise, superstar Rajinikanth has donated a sum of Rs 50 lakhs for the cyclone affected people. Vijay Sethupathi has sent essential commodities worth Rs 25 lakhs. Sivakarthikeyan on his part has sent items worth Rs 10 lakhs apart from contributing to the Chief Minister’s disaster relief fund. Director Shankar has donated Rs 25 lakhs and lyricist Vairamuthu Rs 10 lakhs. More celebrities from the Tamil film industry are expected to follow suit and lend a helping hand to the people reeling from the aftermath of the cyclone.

Sunny Leone’s Rangeela will be a fun road movie!

As we had reported earlier, Sunny Leone is making her Malayalam debut with a film titled ‘Rangeela’. The movie is to be directed by Santhosh Nair. As per the makers, it will be a fun road movie set around a group of people’s journey from Goa to Hampi. Sunny Leone plays the role of a south Indian diva in the film. She will be doing a special dance number in the film. Although Sunny will be present throughout the film, she won’t be having Malayalam dialogues in the movie. Apart from her, the movie also has Aju Varghese, Hareesh Kanaran and Salim Kumar as part of the cast.

‘Rangeela’ story is written by Jayalal Menon, who is also the producer. His Backwater Studio is producing the movie jointly with Fairytale Productions. It will be distributed by One World Entertainments. The makers are planning to shoot in various locations in Kochi, Goa, Hampi and Chikmagalur.

Director Santhosh Nair has previously helmed the Fahadh Faasil starrer ‘Money Ratnam’. He is also directing the upcoming movie ‘Sachin’, which has Dhyan Sreenivasan and ‘Angamaly Diaries’ fame Anna Reshma in the lead roles. While ‘Sachin’ is gearing up for release, ‘Rangeela’ will start rolling by next February.

Odiyan directed by Shrikumar Menon is an action packed mass entertainer with fantasy elements in it. Harikrishnan has scripted the movie based on the life of odiyans, who are people who practice a kind of black magic called odividya. Mohanlal plays the role of Manikyan, someone who is mastered in odividya. Manju Warrier plays the female lead and Prakash Raj will be seen in the villain role. Manoj Joshi, Narain, Innocent, Kailas, Sana Althaf, Siddique and Nandu are also part of the supporting cast.

Odiyan’s technical team includes DOP Shaji Kumar, editor Johnkutty, action choreographer Peter Hein, art director Prashanth Madhav and composers M Jayachandran and Sam CS (background score). Mohanlal’s own banner Aashirvad Cinemas is producing the movie, which is getting ready up for a grand worldwide release on December 14.

Peranbu to be screened at IFFI on November 25

As we had reported earlier, Mammootty’s Tamil film ‘Peranbu’ has been selected for screening at the 49th edition of International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Goa. Apart from ‘Peranbu’, three other Tamil movies – ‘Pariyerum Perumal’, ‘To-let’ and ‘Baaram’ – have also been selected in the Indian Panorama section. This year’s IFFI will be held from November 20th to 28th. Peranbu will be screened at INOX – II (Panaji, Goa) on Nov 25.

‘Peranbu’, directed by Ram, has been doing the rounds at international film festival circuits for sometime now. The movie had its world premiere at the International Film Festival of Rotterdam (IFFR) and was later screened in the Shanghai International Film Festival. It secured 20th position amongst the 187 films considered for the audience award category in IFFR and was also nominated for the prestigious NETPAC (Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema) award.

‘Peranbu’ tells the poignant story of a doting father and his autistic girl child. The makers had recently released a couple of teasers that had glimpses of some heart-rending performances from Mammootty and Sadhana of ‘Thanga Meengal’ fame. The movie also stars Sadhana, Anjali, Samuthirakani, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Livingston, Anjali Ameer and Siddique.

The makers are yet to officially announce the theatrical release date.

Multiple projects coming up for Dileep!

After a tough two years, seems like Dileep is back to being busy. Besides the already committed ones, the actor is currently in talks for several other projects. Presently, he is busy shooting for B Unnikrishnan’s film, ‘Kodathi Samaksham Balan Vakkeel’. The movie has Dileep in the role of an advocate, and Mamta Mohandas and Priya Anand as the female leads. Bollywood production giant Viacom 18 Motion Pictures is making their entry to Malayalam film industry by funding this movie. Shoot is currently in the final stages and is expected to hit screens by the first quarter of next year.

After its completion, Dileep will be heading to Bangkok to complete the remaining portions of his 3D film ‘Professor Dinkan’. Ramachandra Babu is directing the movie, which is scripted by Rafi. The movie has been in the making for a long time now. It got delayed due to multiple reasons which includes the actor’s arrest. Shoot is nearing completion with only the Bangkok schedule left. The team will be filming a couple of action sequences in this upcoming schedule. The makers have got renowned action choreographer Kaecha Kampakdee to helm the stunts. Namitha Pramod, Srinda, Aju Varghese and Vishnu Unnikrishnan are also part of the cast.

Dileep has signed a new movie titled ‘Pickpocket’. Rafi is scripting the film and it will be directed by P Balachandra Kumar. This big budget film will be shot extensively in Brazil. As per the makers, Dileep plays a pickpocket’s role in the film and the actor will trained by Bob Arno, a famous comedy pickpocket entertainer. The movie will have a Hollywood actor as the villain and casting process for the same is currently underway. Action choreographer Kaecha, Bollywood cinematographer Manush Nandan and composer Nadirshah are part of the technical team.

Dileep is also set to reunite with his ‘Speed Track’ director Jayasurya for a new movie titled ‘Jack Daniel’.
Along with Dileep, the movie will also have veteran Tamil actor Arjun in a major role. It is said to be a big budget action-flick and will be produced by Shibu Thameens of Thameens Films. Its technical crew comprises of action choreographer Peter Hein, music director Gopi Sunder and cinematographer Santhana Krishnan of ‘Dhruva Natchathiram’ fame.

Apart from the above mentioned projects, Dileep has signed for a new film with ‘Oru Vadakkan Selfie’ fame G Prajith. The actor is also said to be in talks for new projects with Arun Gopy and Nadrishah. A sequel to his 2015 blockbuster film, ‘Two Countries’ is also on the cards.

Akshay Kumar replaces Ajay Devgn in Indian 2?

The much talked about Kamal Haasan starrer ‘Indian 2’ is getting ready to go on floors. The movie directed by Shankar is the sequel to the 1996 classic hit ‘Indian’. Though the makers are yet to make an official announcement about the cast, there are several reports doing the rounds in social medias. Bollywood star Ajay Devgn, Simbu, Dulquer Salmaan and Kajal Agarwal are some of the names that are said to be part of the movie. Latest from the rumour mills is that Akshay Kumar will be replacing Ajay Devgn in the movie. The fact that Akshay recently worked with director Shankar in ‘2.0’ makes him the top contender. We still have to wait for an official word from the makers.

‘Indian 2’ will have Kamal Haasan reprising his role of Senapathi, a freedom fighter-turned-vigilante.
Shankar is scripting the movie and dialogues are being penned by Jeyamohan, Kabilan Vairmuthu and Lakshmi Saravanakumar. The movie is expected to go on floors next month. Production designer Muthuraj and his team are currently busy with the set works. Shoot will be commencing with a brief schedule in Ramoji Rao Film City, Hyderabad.

Ravi Varman is the cinematographer and Anirudh will be handling the music department. Lyca Productions is funding the movie. Unlike the director’s other recent films, ‘Indian 2’ will not have much VFX or CG works, so the makers are eyeing to release the movie in 2019 itself.

Makers of ‘Ittimani Made In China’ assure that the movie will be a complete fun entertainer

As reported by us earlier, Mohanlal is teaming up with debutant directors Jibi and Joju for a movie titled ‘Ittimani Made In China’. Antony Perumbavoor is producing the movie under his banner Aashirvad Cinemas. According to the makers, the movie will be a total fun entertainer which would remind the audience of Mohanlal’s yesteryear hit films like ‘Kilukkam’ and ‘Chithram’.

Mohanlal would be speaking in Thrissur accent in the film. Interestingly, it is after three long decades that the actor will speaking in this particular slang. Last time, he played a typical Thrissur native was in Padmarajan’s cult-classic, ‘Thoovanathumbikal’. Mohanlal’s performance and his delightful dialogue delivery in the movie is still fresh among the Malayali audience.

This upcoming movie is based in Kunnamkulam, a place which is famous for duplicate items. Shoot for the movie will be mostly in this region. A brief schedule in China has also been planned. Details about Mohanlal’s character or other cast and crew members are yet to be announced.

Shoot for the movie is expected to commence only by next April. Mohanlal is currently shooting for ‘Lucifer’, after which he is expected to start works for ‘Marakkar Arabikadalinte Simham’
